read the introduction today in class instead of paying attention, as you do, and i had thoughts, as i do, so here we are lol.

will be making a post i think for each book (reading this one, i plan on reading other translations and branching out eventually), where i transcribe my live reaction & thought process and then talk to myself.

so like i said i read the intro today and really appreciate both its existence and layout if you will; starting with checkpoints of background information and much needed context for me

the fall of troy/ homeric poems/ quick rundown of the illad itself/ homer and his work/ marginal stuff <- loved this the most/ dates unity and pattens/ the style and writing choices used/ (some of) the characters <- also loved this/ translation stuff

people of the illiad ft their intro titles bc i love this very much:

the defender: hektor

achilleus: the tragic hero

agamemnon: the king

odysseus: the prudent counsellor and complete man (lmao)

aias: the soldier

more people and a bunch of gods 👍

of my penchant for dumbassery past a certain hour.

its nearly 1am and i have lectures first thing in the morning and i want to read the entirety of the illiad. like now.

ive found both the illiad and the odyssey online and am all set and ready to go physically & emotionally ruin myself, but something tells me im going to regret it later lmao.

the next few weeks are going to be awful for me (i hate anatomy :')) and tragic dead greeks are my only escape from reality lol.

anyway i really fancy doing something stupid to dull the pain but i will quite literally never recover (my nonexistent sleep schedule is abysmal enough as is lol). will update!
