I think film is magic! With the tools we have at hand, we really try to convert people’s lives! The idea of making a film is to package a lifetime of emotion and ideas into a two-hour capsule form, two hours where some images flash across the screen and in that two hours the hope is that the audience will forget everything and that celluloid will change lives.

crazy to think that in july, dead boy detectives somehow managed to reawaken a long dormant ouat hyperfixation, which then ofc had me rewatching ouat, and then i saw robert carlyle as rumple/mr. gold again and i was just like "waow. this guy is so talented, and i've not really even seen him in much of anything, i should totally check out his filmography" and now i'll literally never be the same again

“Me, personally, what I want is to allow people to be engaged actively in watching the film. I like to construct films in a way that makes you feel a bit uncomfortable, be able to enjoy them, be intrigued, start to think about the meaning of things - and hopefully by the end of it, you'll have some strong desire to keep thinking about them.” - Yorgos Lanthimos

Still no sign of Silver in Sonic Prime, why can't he be in any of the cartoons??
I knowwwww it's honestly a little bit >:(
I don't follow Prime, but in its defense, I think the apparent lack of any characters other than Sonic, Eggman, Shadow, Big, Knuckles, Rouge, Tails, and Amy (it really feels like I'm missing people but I don't think I am? That group feels somewhat small when you look at how many characters the Sonic franchise has) can simply be explained by the premise. With five-or-so Shatterspaces it gives five characters who need to be redesigned for each world, including that Egg Council, so 25 models total. In that regard, I can see why they don't want to make even more models and characters, be it to be part of the Shatterspace or stay outside of it like Sonic and Shadow.
....But that does mean that a not-that-small chunk of Sonic cast regulars is simply not touched upon: think of Silver, Blaze, the Chaotix, Cream, Omega, or Metal Sonic (I heard some stuff about Metal but I really have no idea if he is in it or not). I myself really would have preferred a setting wherein more of the cast would be shown than just different versions of the same characters; that definitely would have enticed me more to watch it. At the same time, that probably would also be taxing with voice acting and stuff, and maybe with making the models if they can't 'reuse' parts of one model for another. As it stands, I would love for Silver to ever show up in a cartoon, but my hopes are not too high :/ I guess we'll just have to wait and see if he ever shows up!

any time anyone anywhere brings up the topic of lives-in-your-head-rent-free pop culture moments the (unfortunately pretentious) event my brain always immediately jumps to is the 2011 cannes film festival press conference for Lars Von Trier's latest film Melancholia, and the expression on lead actress Kirsten Dunst's face as her entire career flashes before her eyes when Trier tells a room full of journalists and cameras that he sympathizes with hitler.
