also wrt that faux-xenophobia between major european/american countries: sometimes it definitely feels like (especially white) people have like racist jokes and bits they wish they were telling but they’re weirdly glad to have an opportunity to do so against an acceptable target? it reminds me of when i was a teenage edgelord lurking on /b/ and encyclopedia dramatica i would absolutely love jokes against white people because it validated my “i’m actually making fun of every race equally” self-justification? it might be a reach and it might not be the end of the world either way but it always rubs me off the wrong way

24. Favorite song - Sunrise, off of One Year Older. i think it's like, sublime. its the easiest song to just like, soak in. and the solo albums just don't get enough credit.

25. Favorite album - The Wanderers. such a shame it's literally never coming back. because it's so, so good. honorable mention to faux dramatica, which is not a homestuck album. but fucks so severely.

small list of my thoughts about arcjec and his smoking habit

with laivan, the cigarettes actively reflect he and arcjec's relationship-- the cigarette smoke actively keep laivan and his lung condition at a distance, like how arcjec's general everything actively keeps laivan as a whole away (through physical means like self isolation and emotional means shown through their chats)

the "nothing" in "nothing is bliss" could refer to the naught father, like the lyrics of naught from faux dramatica, death in general, self-isolation/the nothingness that comes with him distancing from his friends, or him not finding happiness/'bliss' in anything due to his depression

adds to the arcjec & ellsee parallels (natural vices vs artificial vices)

how did he get cigarettes in the game snake village. nicotine is deadly to snakes?? did they carry some specifically for him showing up??? i guess thats plausible but like idk i think its funny

basically the cigarettes are just an externalization of his depression. it can also be an externalization of whatever happened to his brain (assuming the cause was naught-father related, adds more meaning to 'nothing is bliss'

If I had to choose two favorites from each it would be Total Recall and The sound of 1000 mosquitoes inhabiting the corpse of James Bond from Snowbound Blood and Too Slow and Bite The Hand That Feeds You from Faux Dramatica. Go listen to those songs they're amazing. And as an added bonus please have this masterpiece: I ADMIT IT, I DON'T KNOW HOW KING CRIMSON WORKS!! HE ERASES TIME BUT WHAT DOES THAT MEAN?! IF HE ERASES TIME THEN SHOULDN'T IT NOT BE THERE?! WHAT DOES THAT MEAN- WHAT DOES HE MEAN HE ERASES TIME?! which is also from Snowbound Blood and is the most beautiful thing ever conceived.
