holy fuck is that why im into detective stories??
Okay but if you're tired of every story being centered around romance you need to start looking in the right places. Detective stories are usually completely romance-free or don't have major romantic plotlines because it's out of place in the genre. "We need more aro/ace characters in media!" Have you not heard of Sherlock Holmes

A bunch of way too elaborate fanarts for one of my favourite polish comfort tv shows about a crime solving priest - ojciec mateusz :-)
(translation of the text: 1: Homemade dinner / at Natalia's / 'will you eat, father? - repeated. 2: Curiosity is the first step to hell / I, Killed, He, I love, Her. 3: the heart wants what it wants.)

( about: Radek. ) tw: death, religion, self-hatred, self-harm.
I traveled with the enemy, I thought it was my destiny. I’m free of all the lunacy. I never want it back, my history in black.
Tumblr media
FULL NAME:  Radek Mateusz Tomiczek.
NICKNAMES: Tommy. That damn hunter. Maciuś (only by people he is very close to).
GENDER II SPECIES: Male II Vampire (clan Tremere).
BIRTHDAY II AGE: November 8th 1430 II Was embraced at the age of 30 and stopped ageing since then.
BIRTHPLACE: Modern Łódź, Poland.
HEIGHT: 6’1”.
SEXUAL ORIENTATION: Pansexual.
OCCUPATION: Former church hunter, now mechanic.
DEMEANOR: Your coldness is not limited to the confines of your body: not only has your warmth disappeared from your touch but from your heart as well, turning it to stone and leaving you with an aversion towards anyone who tries to approach you, whether with good or bad intentions. You neither care for reputation, nor friendliness ( you are simply here to get the job done and you will get it done, come hell or high water ) but even in your icy demeanor you still find yourself polite enough not to throw yourself head-first into danger; after all, with five hundred years upon this planet and death a lingering cloak upon your slumped shoulders, you surely must have learned? Do you finally understand that the safest course of action is to turn away, from yourself, from others and not reveal your desperation and your pain? You do not want their sympathy, do not deserve it and they, in turn, should not see your heart still beating through its frozen cracks or your fingers shaking as you pray.
–> Traits: seems coldhearted and unapporachable. quiet. devoted. determined. distant. will finish the job no matter what. does not know how to relax or enjoy life. can sometimes be seen as uptight. he is a little more open in his modern verse but still very much has issues relating to people and trusting them. cares deeply for very few people.
THE DEAD SAINT OF ŁÓDŻ:
1430: You were born on a chill winter night, the wind biting, the rain drowning out the prayers of your father as he mumbled and begged for your health and life and perhaps this already was a good and ironic indication of the fate you were about to face. You barely remember this life before the church, your family, your two brothers by blood, your naive innocence and childish desire to make those around you proud. And therefore, when you ( that little blond Polish boy who was left in front of the monastery with barely any belongings in hand ) found your new family within God, you could not help but give yourself entirely into making a deity satisfied with your existence.
You were always dedicated, it seemed: soon you were one of the best hunters the church had to offer, tearing through beastly carcasses, extinguishing the demonic from this holy land, never bestowed with mercy but always with your bible and the verses you knew by heart slipping from your lips as you sent them to hell. You believed it all to be evil and how could you not? There is no reason to question the things you were taught when it all seemed to make so much sense: you were here to rid the earth of the devil’s creations and those who gave themselves to him, you were here to save good people from a terrible end. You never doubted yourself, until you met her. Mikhaila. Such a beautiful soul, so true, so selfless, the manifestation of the saints pictured in mosaics and walls. Gentle and loving, how could you possibly force yourself to arrest her on the counts of WITCHCRAFT?
1460: It should never have come to this, you realize as you laid here in the grass, gasping for breath that filled your lungs less and less by the second. The stench of blood and tears surrounded you, your brethren fallen, their torn limbs reaching out to brush against your skin, even in death and all you can do is wonder if your father begged for your life the same way you now begged for your end. An ambush, how could you have been so ill prepared? The beast on top of you formed a lecherous grin at your plight, displaying its monstrous teeth in your horror and it traces your quickening pulse with them. When it is too still at night you can hear its words echo within your hollow mind: OH I AM NOT DONE WITH YOU YET. And thus it not only fed from you but also let you drink from its own vile essence and you were crying for a god that had already turned away from you.
When you woke up again you found yourself in front of the monastery, your sanctuary for the past decades, the only respite. You stumbled towards it, weak, oddly hungry but not hurt. And when the others saw you, they yelled in terror and reduced your own name to the only noun you find yourself in association with you, even in this day. Beast! A beast! Begone from these holy lands, you wretched thing! And in your betrayal as they closed the doors in your face and left you to your own fear and lonliness you finally realized that you never once stopped to take a breath. Radek Tomiczek the church hunter died that night and in his wake a vampire was reborn. With bloodied tears running down your pale cheeks you turned on your heel and ran back into the forest.
Today: You honestly had not expected irony to continue on throughout this undead life of yours but here you are, Dallas, Texas, slipping through the shadows in an attempt to evade the oppressing Southern sun on your way to work. And it seems that no matter how early you arrive, your boss is there before you. Johnny Doe grins every time he sees you, a cheeky and sharp smile, sharp as his own fangs that protrude from his mouth, predatory as the fire within his eyes. You nod in return and briefly wonder how it all has come to this but it seems that the enemy of your current enemy is now your best friend and who would have assumed that to be the hound of hell?
ABILITIES:
- Ability to regenerate, especially if he just fed. - Carries an iron dagger on him -> can use his own blood to elongate it into a sword and the more blood he uses ( e.g. from his lower body ), the more accurate and deadly it becomes -> this also weakens him. - APOCALYPSE!VERSE: is unaffected by the virus but can get addicted to beast and zombie blood, which causes immense pain.
WEAKNESSES:
- Holy symbols give him a severe headache. - While the sun does not cause physical harm, it can weaken him immensely the longer he is out during the daytime, so he prefers to wear many layers to shield himself from it. - Normal bullets still hurt but a silver blade or bullet to the heart would actually kill him.
FACE CLAIM: Boyd Holbrook.
APPEARANCE: Blond hair. Steelblue eyes that look black after he fed. A cold and disgruntled stare. Has a tattoo of the borromean rings on his right index finger as a symbol for hunters. Wears white church garbs in his past verse. Has the scar of the bite mark that turned him into a vampire on his neck. Always has a bible on him.
KNOWN LANGUAGES: Both old and modern Polish; English; knows very basic Russian and some Latin (mainly religious texts).

Father Matthew - polish version of Don Matteo
So if you’re not familliar with either of the shows, let me introduce them to you.
Ojciec Mateusz (English: Father Matthew) is a Polish television drama series, which has aired on TVP1 since November 11, 2008. It is a Polish version of the Italian detective series Don Matteo broadcast in Italy by Rai Uno.
Tumblr media
The show is set in the town of Sandomierz, although scenes in the church are recorded in Glinianka near Otwock, the vicarage in Anin in Warsaw, and the office of the bishop is filmed in the Nieborów Palace. In the fourth series, some episodes take place outside of Sandomierz, including in Kielce, Bałtów, Krzyżtopór, Busko-Zdrój and Opatów, as well as Ćmielów, Wąchock and Zalew Sielpia.
Plot:
The series shows the adventures of a Roman Catholic priest who, after returning to Poland from a mission to Belarus, is sent to work in a small parish in Sandomierz. As a pastor, together with a friendly policeman, he solves mysteries and gives help to his parishioners, as well as all those who are in need. Each episode is a separate story.
This TV Show has been on air since 2008 and I haven’t seen any episodes of it. Never. Not even a trailer for an episode. I did watch Don Matteo though, back in the day and recently I have watched all available seasons of Father Brown. Years back, a show I love to this day is Father Dowling Mysteries - in my opinion the best priest-detective ever.
But I get side tracked. Why am I mentioning this show here?
Well Christmas is just behind us and I was ill. My presents from family members will be given to me tomorrow since I’m still not feeling 100% good and don’t want to ruin New Years Eve for anyone by getting them sick.
Someone slipped and mentioned they might have gotten me 20 seasons! 😮 of Father Matthew on DVD. Two huge box sets, over 250 episodes. There are 28 seasons and you can buy 27 of them, the last 7 you can so far get separately. I mean...
Okay. The biggest question I have is WHEN am I going to watch this show?
I need to create a schedule or something. 20 seasons! 262 episodes, 45 min each. That’s what... 8,5 days of constant watching 24/7? Nope.
I don’t even know if I will like this show. I’m not a huge fan of polish tv shows besides: Brzydula (polish version of Ugly Betty), Niania (the Nanny), Kryminalni, Miodowe Lata. That’s about it.
Huh. If I won’t like it, then someone in my family will be very happy this coming year. I know of few people who are fans of the show.

The Puzzling Case of Mateusz Kawecki
Tumblr media
January 02, 2023
Mateusz Kawecki was a 30 year old man from Poland who had been working in Hanover, Germany as a construction worker. He lived with his father who also worked in Hanover.
On March 28, 2018, Mateusz went to Poland to see his pregnant fiancé, who he was in a long distance relationship with at the time. His fiancé was about to give birth, and lived in a village called Lipia Góra, Poland. Mateusz began driving his 1998 BMW 525 around 11:30 pm to make it to the village. He was supposed to arrive there between 8-9 am the next morning, March 29. Mateusz never made it.
Mateusz’s father spoke to him on March 29, around 10:30 am, and Mateusz told his father there was really bad traffic jams on his route and he was currently stuck in Szzecin at the time, which is a town on the Polish-German border. Mateusz had about 133 miles to go before he would reach Lipia Góra. Around this time Mateusz sent his fiancé a text message saying he would arrive in about 2 more hours.
However, after not hearing from him, and several missed phone calls, his fiancé became worried and tried to contact Mateusz’s sister, Katarzyna Piotrkowicz around 5 pm, but could not get a hold of her either.
Later in the evening Mateusz’s mom went to the police to let them know no one had any contact with her son for quite some time, but the police discouraged her from filing a missing persons report, claiming it was too early to do so.
A few more days went by and in early April 2018, Mateusz’s family officially reported him as a missing person in Germany and Poland. The Germany police refused to investigate, claiming the Polish police were on the case. His family asked Polish police if they could locate Mateusz’s cellphone, but they were unable to do so as his sim card was German. It was also said that his cellphone had been on for a couple of days after he stopped having contact.
The German police eventually began investigating but could not locate the cellphone either, as Mateusz had gone missing in Poland. Polish police later said that Mateusz’s phone was never connected to any networks so no one was sure how he had spoken to his father earlier on March 29.
Katarzyna, Mateusz’s sister, said that officials believed her brother had never crossed the German-Polish border as CCTV monitoring at the border showed Mateusz had never entered Poland. Mateusz’s family became frustrated with police efforts, and began their own search, including putting up posters with Mateusz’s picture around. The family spoke on TV several times in Germany and Poland claiming the police were not doing enough.
However, the case took a strange turn on September 12, 2018, almost 6 months after the last known contact from Mateusz, when a neighbour went to Mateusz’s mothers house to ask about her barn, claiming that a horrible smell was coming from their barn since July and neighbours were starting to complain.
The neighbour asked if he could check the barn and she agreed. Half of the barn was walled off, which created a room. There was an attic level on top of the room. The neighbour climbed up and saw a pile of clothes in the attic space. When the neighbour checked more thoroughly he found a severed head and torso. The remains were too decomposed to be identified.
It was discovered that there were two rope nooses hanging from the roof and a backpack on the floor which was later identified as belonging to Mateusz. DNA evidence eventually determined that the remains were indeed that of Mateusz Kawecki. Some of his teeth had been knocked out and stuck to his clothes which had bloody patches on them.
Inside the backpack were a Polish water bottle with cigarette butts inside and an orange juice box. Mateusz’s family claimed he never drank orange juice. A cellphone was also found in the backpack and showed there had been one call made to Mateusz’s uncle on March 30, 2018, but it appeared to be an accidental call as it lasted for less than a second and never actually went through.
There was no DNA of another person found on any of Mateusz’s items. The police believed that this was a suicide and refused to investigate further, despite the families pleas. It was believed that Mateusz had planned his death and there was no evidence of foul play.
Four days after Mateusz’s body was found, his family found his shoe in the barn with his detached foot still inside. This determined that the police hadn’t even searched the barn properly according to his family.
Prosecutors gathered lots of evidence, including DNA, and an analysis of Mateusz’s cellphone. German police got security camera footage and searched Mateusz’s apartment in Hanover. All of this evidence was reviewed by experts in Warsaw.
Prosecutors believe that Mateusz lied to his family on the day he disappeared. He had not been in Szczecin when he’d spoken to his father and was not driving at the time the phone call happened. According to them, Mateusz had still been in Germany according to the receipts found with his belongings.
It is believed that Mateusz took a train to the German border, in Frankfurt an der Oder and walked over a bridge to the Polish town of Slubice about 24 hours after telling his family he was in Poland. Prosecutors believe he checked into a hotel in Slubice with another person.
Mateusz then took a train to Warsaw the next day, followed by a bus to Zamość, which is the largest town close to his home village, Hutków. He arrived in Zamość around midnight, but it is unknown how he got to Hutków.
Mateusz’s car had never been found despite a search for it, and there was never any evidence found indicating it had been bought or driven by a new owner. They keys to his BMW were also never found, but his wallet was in the backpack that was found in the barn.
The attic where the body was found was visible from the ground, so it didn’t make sense that Mateusz had been there for months without his family noticing. Mateusz’s family also said that they had used the barn in the summer of 2018.
Mateusz’s cousin, Edyta Dabska claimed the family does not think Mateusz was hanging in the barn because no one had seen him.
To this day it is unknown how Mateusz got to the barn from Zamość and if he was in the barn for months how would his family not notice? There are so many unanswered questions in this case and hopefully someday it will make more sense.

The Puzzling Death of Mateusz Kawecki
Mateusz Kawecki, 30 years old, from Poland is from a small village called Hutków, in south-eastern Poland. He's been working in Hanover, Germany as a construction worker for about 5 years and lives with his father, who also works in Hanover.
Mateusz has a long-distance relationship with his Polish fiancé, who is expecting, and lives in a village called Lipia Góra in north-western Poland. As his fiancée is about to give birth, Mateusz sets out driving his 1998 BMW 525 from Hanover, Germany to Lipia Góra, Poland, after work at around 11.30pm on March 28, 2018 and is due to arrive at around 8-9am the following morning. It's a 647 km (402 mi) drive. However, Mateusz never makes it to Lipia Góra.
According to his father, he calls Mateusz at around 10.30am on March 29 and his son tells him that there was terrible traffic on the way, he waited a total of 2 hours in traffic jams due to accidents and that he was around Szczecin at that point. Szczecin is a town on the Polish-German border, on the way to Lipia Góra - he has around 214 km/133mi to go from there. /Please note that the German-Polish border isn't staffed and there are no checks, although there are cameras that can apparently read license plates./ Around that time, he also sends a text message to his fiancée that he'll get there in around 2 hours, but he never made it to his fiancee's and this is in fact the last communication with Mateusz.
Becoming increasingly worried after unanswered calls to Mateusz, the fiancée gets in touch with Mateusz's sister (who also lives in Hanover) at around 5pm, but no one is able to get through - his phone rings, but he doesn't pick up. Later that evening Mateusz's mom goes to the police, but they discourage her from filing a report as it's too early and Mateusz will likely turn up.
The family reports Mateusz as missing in both Germany and Poland, but the German police refuses to investigate if the Polish police are on the case. This disconnect and bureaucratic barrier between the German and Polish police is quite apparent throughout this entire ordeal. The family then ask the Polish police to locate Mateusz's cell phone  but the police are unable to do so as Mateusz was using a German sim card. German police, again, can't locate his phone either, as Mateusz disappeared in Poland. Later, Polish police claim that Matuesz's phone never connected to a Polish network; it is unclear where Mateusz received the call from his father.
Frustrated with the police, Mateusz's family begin their own investigation and thoroughly check the entire route, going into side streets, checking with gas station staff, asking for video surveillance, going around markets in towns near the border with Mateusz's picture and posting posters with his image. Unfortunately, no new clues appear for the next 6 months and it seems that Mateusz, along with his car, just disappeared into thin air. The family is featured on TV multiple times and complains that the police are not doing enough and not taking the matter seriously.
On September 12, a neighbor comes to Mateusz's mom to ask about their barn, as it has been smelling for a while (since July at least) and the neighbors are starting to complain. They think it's probably a dead animal, but can't quite locate it. The neighbor eventually asks the mother if he can check below the barn's roof - half of the barn was walled off, creating a room and an attic on top of that room. She agrees, so he climbs up and sees a pile of clothes. Upon closer inspection, he finds out it's actually a dead human body - a severed head and a torso. There are also two nooses hanging from the roof and a backpack on the floor. All the stuff seems to be Mateusz's, yet the corpse is too decomposed to be ID'd. Mateusz wasn't headed for his family's house in the Southeast of Poland, instead he was headed to his fiancee's in the Northwest - it's a 635km trip between the two (basically from one side of the country to the other) and his home village was about as far from Germany as you can get in Poland.
The police quickly determine the cause of death to be a suicide and hand over all of Mateusz's stuff back to his family.
Here's where things get even weirder: 4 days after having found his body, Mateusz's family find his shoe in the barn with his foot still inside it. This points to the police not having done a very good job at collecting evidence and also brings up the question of why this didn't come up during the autopsy. Furthermore, some of Mateusz's teeth were knocked out and stuck to his clothes with what seems to be blood. While a head can get severed after a body has hung for some time on a noose, it is rather difficult for teeth to get knocked out post mortem. There also seemed to be bloody patches on his clothes, although these are difficult to distinguish considering the clothes were fairly dirty. Inside his backpack, there was a Polish water bottle with cigarette butts inside and an orange juice box - Mateusz's family all claim that he never drank orange juice (it's implied he disliked it). All of this potential evidence is released without any analysis by the police.
The biggest mystery of all is his car - to this day, it hasn't been found or seen. Not in Poland, not in Germany, not anywhere. The keys and vehicle registration were never found either, despite his wallet having been in that backpack. Furthermore, his phone was among the things found and there was one more call to his uncle on March 30 - this seems like an accidental dial, as it only lasted for less than a second and never got through (the uncle never received anything). Moreover the attic, where his body apparently hung is more or less in full view from the ground inside the barn and the family say that they used the barn throughout the summer, so they it's very unlikely they wouldn't notice a hanging body.
The Police and Public Prosecutor maintain that the death was a suicide and refuse to investigate further, despite appeals and effort by the family.

STONED JESUS Celebrate 15 Years of Doomy Head Trips with Special Anniversary Tour
Photo by Mateusz Kluba The past few years have been a strange trip for just about everyone, but Stoned Jesus have had trouble staying still. The armor of King Sigismund II Augustus was returned to Poland ⠀ ⚜️ Childhood Armor of King Sigismund II Augustus, Innsbruck, 1533 Height: 156.8 cm Medium: forged and embossed steel, etched and gilded engravings. Armorer: Jörg Seusenhofer (1516-1580) ⠀ 📝 The armor was ordered in 1533 by the king of Czechia and Hungary (later the emperor) Ferdinand I for the nuptials of his daughter Elizabeth with the son of Sigismund I, the thirteen-year-old Sigismund II Augustus, crowned King of Poland. ⠀ This late medieval and Renaissance suit of armor served a practical purpose, yet it was also symbolic and for show. This was a most costly bit of apparel. King Sigismund II Augustus’s suit is an outstanding example of armor being forged to resemble court garb. ⠀ By the authority of a decision by the arbitrations court in 1933, the armor was handed over from the imperial Viennese collections to the National Museum in Budapest, as allegedly the property of Hungarian King Louis II, who perished in battle with the Turks (Battle of Mohács in 1526). ⠀ In reality, as outstanding weapons expert Bruno Thomas showed in 1939, the armor was ordered in 1533 by the king of Czechia and Hungary (later the emperor) Ferdinand I for the nuptials of his daughter Elizabeth with the son of Sigismund I, the thirteen-year-old Sigismund II Augustus, crowned King of Poland in his father’s lifetime. The breastplate and sleeves hold an interlocking monogram with the letters "E" and "S" (Elisabetha, Sigismundus). ⠀ In 2020, Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki turned to Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán with a request to hand over the Renaissance armor of the young King Sigismund II Augustus. And Viktor Orbán signed a decree to transfer the armor belonging to Poland. In February 2021, the decision was made to transfer the piece to the Wawel Royal Castle.
