Lips thinned almost to nothing as Akira suddenly tensed at Haru's words, the accusation slicing through his heart with the precision of a surgeon's scalpel. What could he say to that? He'd only been something he was not for the last several months, a person he didn't want to be with a label he didn't chose for himself. A part of him desperately wanted to return to a nobody, to the face no one cared to pay attention to, that was just a nobody.

But after that night, after the trial, he could never go back--a larger part of him didn't want to go back. That didn't mean he knew who he was now, especially as he tried to hide himself for a different reason. Keep his head down as much as he could so he could just survive.

He'd clenched his fists though, knuckles cracking slightly as he released his fingers from around the handle of the watering can, setting it down on the ground before he over-watered a plant or something. A slow sigh darted out of his mouth, swallowing back and million thoughts and words. "It's been a hard year."

"Are you sure you wanted to come out with me, Haru? I'm not really all that knowledgeable on what's trending and whatnot." She asked with a small smile. That was definitely more Ann's department but she wouldn't deny that the invitation wasn't appreciated as she could do with a break from studying every now and then.

"Ah... thank you. That really means so much to me, Takamaki-san."

Haru knows the doubts and desires plaguing her mind won't go away so easily, but even so... just sharing it with Ann makes her feel a little better. And for Ann to be so understanding... she's so lucky to have been blessed with such a wonderful friend.

"You're right. I suppose it all just feels like so much. ...Did I ever tell you about my dream of opening my own cafe? ...I think I'd love that, more than anything else in the world. But when I think about it, sometimes I feel like I should be doing something that helps other people, instead. If I had knew what exactly I could do to help, maybe it would be a little easier..."

It's hard to put into words what she means. She knows she's not obligated to get a job dedicated to other people; and that there are ways to help other people outside of a career, anyway. But even if she doesn't start pursuing it yet, having some kind of plan in mind for how she can give back to the people around her - she feels like it would make her feel better. Even if it's only the start of a plan, and she doesn't pursue it for a long time.

Honestly, she feels glad that Takakura is still in charge of the running of her company for now. She wouldn't even know where to begin with it. ...As she thinks that, she winces a little - shouldn't she be more grateful for the opportunity she has? Many people would give anything to be in her position.

"But thank you. Hearing you say that you'll be with me makes me feel better." Then, she giggles a little. "A superhero and a supervillain... we really make quite the pair, don't we?"

He's kinda speechless. That she filled every space, but also that she'd filled it out at all-

Food that Akira took into Mementos didn't seem to spoil, most of the time… At least, not as quickly as he might expect. It was always a surprise, but things somehow took longer to spoil in his pocket going in and out of the Metaverse than otherwise. Salad seemed a little risky for his taste, though. Maybe because he didn't think that he'd like salad all that much to begin with, so he wasn't willing to try too hard to find a workaround.

Haru pointed out the importance of keeping ingredients consistent, and there were certainly ways to look up common substitutions on his phone. That wasn't exactly what he meant, though. Akira wasn't the most confident in his skills, but he did know enough about cooking to say for certain that it wasn't just following recipes to a T. Or, rather, that it didn't have to be.

“Cooking isn't an exact science most of the time. You can make tons of substitutions to a recipe based on what you like, or things you think might work in it.” He wouldn't go changing Leblanc's curry recipe this way, but anything else he cooked was more likely to follow this rule. Granted, this wasn't advice he'd be giving to someone as precise as Sojiro regardless. “Recipes're more like guidelines than a hard rule. I've heard baking's a little different, but that's why I don't do it.”

"Hmm... if we keep it in a container, it will stay fresh, but only for a few hours and not days, I'm afraid..." She shook her head. She was aware that his provisions could be strange or rather unpredictable sometimes when the situation called for it in Mementos or Palaces. Furthermore, she wasn't one to judge since she had only recently joined the team and had a lot to learn from them, especially their leader.

Haru followed him closely and took a quick glance at the recipe he was reading. "Well... it's usually best to follow the recipe precisely, but if the ingredient you are implying is consistent... I suppose that could work. If you are confident enough in your skills, that is. I don't know the first thing about cooking, to be honest." She smiled bashfully, her gaze dropping to the floor. All the servants and maids in their household had done everything for her since she was little, and she only had her future business to think about.

"The only thing I'm good at is attending meetings, taking care of my garden and fighting, but please feel free to teach me all that you can!" She still had that spark and hope in her eyes. He was reliable.

He had gotten used to being the one behind the counter when it came to coffee, so it was a pleasant change of pace to be sitting at the little outdoor table across from the cooking station setup, watching as Haru made their morning brew.

Being up this early was a rare occurrence for Akira. But he was still too unfamiliar with sleeping in the tent at night to get a good rest. Rather than suffer through Ryuji's snoring and Yusuke's sleep-talking, Akira decided to join Haru when he'd heard signs of life from inside the RV.

He smiled when she approached with the mugs, stifling a yawn as he thanked her. ❝ Man...I don't remember the last time I was up in time to watch the sunrise. ❞

"Ahaha, I'd be happy to take you on another drive, Kasumi-chan!" Haru seems to be delighted and has little sense of danger for the road.

“That would be lovely! I do plan on trying to get my student licenses at some point in the near future. Having the chance to observe and learn from a friend should be a big help!”

The winged man always wanted the best for his user, and he tutored him in his native tongue because of that very reason. "How much I matter to you was never a question in my mind. The fact you've fought alongside me, risked your life for me on numerous occasions was proof enough." He said in turn before a small chuckle slipped past his lips. "I think you know the answer to that."

She knew a little bit of French from some movies and novels, however, she never expected Ren to be so knowledgeable. The color on her cheeks was even darker and she found herself burying her face in his chest for a moment to compose herself, eventually pulling away. "Y-yes, that's right... you matter to me a lot more than he does. Then... does that mean that you return my feelings...?" His smile and gaze were all she could focus her mind on.

Eri's puzzled tone is easy to hear as she gives a confused but inquisitive look to the girl standing before her. Eri doesn't know them - at least, she doesn't think she does, but upon spotting her, they made quite the shocked expression, almost as if they recognized her from somewhere.

Which leaves Eri stumped, because she sure doesn't recognize them! But something tells her that it's a good idea to talk to them - call it intuition, or maybe just impulse.

"Do I know you from somewhere? I'm sorry I don't recognize you..."

Comfort from his Kryptonite

He used to love winter. A part of him still does. There was always something about seeing the world in a new coat of paint that was just special to him.

Then he got powers. Powers that specifically turned the cold air of the season into his Achilles' heel, and while he'd gotten more accustomed to dealing with that (crime didn't take breaks for the holidays unfortunately), it still affected him more than most.

Which is why when Haru had invited him over, he'd accepted without a second thought. Hanging out with his crush/possibly girlfriend? (they hadn't really put a label on it, and to be honest he didn't mind that) and getting out of the cold at the same time? He'd be stupid not to go.

The only real issue was that he'd currently spent most of his time here by the fire. He hadn't been here long, maybe 10 minutes at most, but after a long day of swinging around in the chilling winds of the city and fighting bad guys in the snow- he was really struggling to get warm. Though not for lack of trying.

He was sitting on the couch wrapped up in a blanket, trying to hide just how much the cold was effecting him, doing his best to hide even the slightest shiver. He was so tempted to move closer to the fire, try to get this chill out of his bones so he could stop being such a downer. Like seriously? Who goes over to their friends house and spends the entire time on the couch trying to get warm??

'An absolute loser, that's who.'

But... rather than be confused or upset, she instead joined him on the couch. Sitting very close, then moving even closer and laying her head on his shoulder, bringing some much needed warmth to his cheeks.

"H-Haru, I-"

There was that familiar fluttery feeling in his chest. The same one he always got when he got to hold her hand, only much more intense.

And she was warm. So amazingly warm that he could finally feel his right side starting to thaw just from her sitting there.

It was... nice.

"I... I think I could go for a hot chocolate-" he said finally, slightly leaning into her a bit and letting himself relax.

"Th-though ummm... c-could we stay like this for a bit, please?"
