it's funny how higashide's romances are all like "what if a man and woman loved each other" while nasu's romances are like "what if a man and a woman loved each other because they were both extremely fucked up and couldn't operate in human society"

GOD it's so nice to replay fate/stay night for the book club, Rin rocks, and while I have complicated and kinda negative feelings about archer, their dynamic is great and is VERY informed by the bombshells dropped in UBW

I understand this can sound accusatory and I completely don't mean it that way. In our capitalist hellscape its easy for media you love to become a horrible shell of itself. As a kind of big name fan with a crossover audience, do you ever have any thoughts or concerns about fateblogging given that the largest and most accessible fate product is a predatory gambling game?
I'm gonna be real with you: I am entirely absent responsibility for what other people choose to do with their time and money so long as I am not directing them to do it. that's the full thought.
everything else is courtesy, and I do extend a lot of courtesy

I always say "hey if you want more about your blorbos remember that you can do it yourself" but remember that this comes from the perspective of someone who chose, of all fucking characters, to obsess over the one everyone considers a bland self-insert. Like in 2020 when I started fateblogging there was barely any guda shit out there it was mostly memes and shitposts, which were fun mind you but Guda has so much to offer and people just... weren't talking about that. I'm not arrogant enough to believe I singlehandedly opened people's eyes about Guda but I do think I caused at least some people to pay more attention to this bastard's canon characterisation. If you yell loud enough about something people will hear you.

"one day ill forgive him for being zhu ge liang and then ill be able to love him" simk for someone who doesnt love him youve been reblogging a lot of waver posts lately
im really torn between loving zhu ge liang and being absolutely fucking furious that zhu ge liang is currently being hosted by a hot looking but incredibly lame NEET who marinates in his ostentatious living room playing video games all day at 30 years old, and who ALSO looked like a moe anime girl when he was 20-fucking-however-much in fate zero. DO YOU SEE MY CONFLICT HERE? MY STRUGGLE? DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA HOW INCANDESCENTLY FURIOUS I WAS WHEN I FOUND OUT THAT ZHU GE LIANG, THE FAMOUS STRATEGIST WHO I GREW UP HEARING STORIES ABOUT AND WHO I ADMIRED WITH ALL MY HEART, WAS *THIS GUY?*
HIM? THIS GUY? THIS FUCKING GUY?
AND THEN HE HAD THE AUDACITY TO BE A FANDOM FAVORITE, AND EVEN MORE THAN THAT PEOPLE HAD THE AUDACITY TO MAKE GOOD CONTENT OF HIM AND NOW IM REBLOGGING IT. unbelievable. i have to live like this.

It’s really interesting how we catch on that Sakura’s massive guilt and self-punishment is reflective of Saber’s own sense of guilt and that’s why I think their mutual transitions to “Alter” forms are all the more important to look at in the context of “denying yourself punishment and allowing yourself to become the monster you want to be after suffering for so long”

It is pretty funny that Kinoko Nasu's most noticeable traits when writing stories for FGO are:
worldbuilding and backstory that's probably way more complex and thought-out than it has any need to be
characters from Fate stay/night sometimes inexplicably showing up to play a role
Camelot doesn't have too much, just another version of Artoria, but Babylonia has Gilgamesh, two versions of Rin, two versions of Medusa, and...Taiga Fujimura for some reason. It's pretty wild how many new characters in that arc are actually just FSN characters who are in ancient Mesopotamia now for the flimsiest of reasons
Lostbelt 6 we get another Artoria because fair enough this is like a new take on the King Arthur story, but we also get another Shirou, another Cu Chulainn, and also that point where Caren from Hollow Ataraxia shows up for one scene and then it's never mentioned again
I guess I just find it funny because everyone treats Nasu as the guy who takes writing the most seriously but he's also just as susceptible as anyone else in Type-Moon at completely unashamedly shoving his favourites into things.
and/or putting them in swimsuits

I still maintain that this is Shirou, Rin, and Saber respectively
#like saber loves food AND has some weird gender stuff going on#and rin has been recently bisexualized by saber#of COURSE she'd offer to grate cheese into her mouth at 2am#fateblogging

'not a fateblog' HOLY FUCK you summed up the biggest frustration with googling Irish mythology ever in one sentence
asdfjkl yes welcome to my life
imagine how confusing it is for medievalists working on actual academic papers and articles about cú chulainn to find themselves with, like, anime fans in their mentions disagreeing with them. because that has happened to me. and i’m just like.... why. why this.
