thoughts on kaos (with mild spoilers)

i loved the twist on eurydice/orpheus. when i saw their names pop up i was DREEEADING another boring retelling but the decision to show his viewing of her as a muse be objectifying and dehumanizing was so fascinating (i do wish they'd explored it more during their reunion, but there wasn't really time given that they had so much other stuff going on in the finale)

the decision to make caeneus's transness HIS choice rather than something put on him by the gods was great! and i think showing him able to have romance and sex without his transness being a big deal was important and sweet.

wish they hadn't made the amazons into these evil women and had hippolyta deadname him tho; the implication that amazons would automatically be transphobic weirdos is cringe

hera/poseidon was dumb and i didn't like what they did w her in general tbh but i don't expect better at this point lmao

my biggest disappointment was that it was a very queer show but like. largely only queer men, except the way they coded the furies. aowiejfaoi it's just disappointing that gay men are often considered the default for queer rep

overall tho i really enjoyed it despite generally being sick to death of greek mythology being reused over and over aoifjewoai

ok enough with saying bad things about kaos even though i have a lot more things to complain about, but for things i did like:

riddy was a really nice main character to have if only they focused more on her instead of orpheus, caeneus is hot, the fates were cunty enby/trans icons, persephone being actually in love with hades and the whole kidnapping thing being made up by mortals and or hera was good, did i mention caeneus is hot...... and i dont have much else i can think of because the show went in and out with how bad it was sorry
