Pic 1. Karen Baldy Phillips Braved the Shave today with @veglioents over at @mkfmradio to raise funds for @macmillancancer and MK University Hospital’s Breast Care Unit. As soon as the shave was finished, Karen said “I’ve changed my mind” and everyone started to laugh. It was a brilliant way to punctuate today’s event which was inspired by her late friend Jyoti, who was only 26 years old when she was diagnosed with breast cancer.

Knowing that chemotherapy lay ahead of her, Jyoti donated all of her beautiful hair to the Little Princess Trust (the charity makes wigs for children facing cancer) and it’s also where Karen’s locks are going. The way that Jyoti was thinking of others at a time when she was facing so much herself is something that Karen still holds dear about her friend.

The fundraising is important to Jyoti’s family, as it will help so many, but they also hope that by Karen doing this, more awareness is raised: if you notice anything different about your body, please visit your GP as soon as possible. Visit the Breast Cancer Care site for information on how best to check your breasts - knowing your body well could save your life.

Jyoti’s family would like to thank Karen Phillips for doing this in Jyoti’s honour, as well as MKFM for hosting the event, and everyone who attended (including MP @marklancastermk and Hairdresser Carlo Brescia). They and Karen would also like to thank @thecomedycow event team who held a collection recently, and @gemmediamk for tomorrow’s @fashionshowmk support. They are especially grateful to everyone who has donated to these two causes in Jyoti’s name. It really means so much to them.

It was a privilege to hear about Jyoti today and to see how she is still so deeply loved.

Last night's OOTN for my first @fashionshowmk I had such an amazing night, some of the pieces coming down the runway was to die for. I particularly loved @white_rabbit_apparelltd & @boutiquecholpon 😍 It was so lovely to be with @amanda_alston & @lamantuanauk & to network with brands & other bloggers.
