you know what's very on par with the shitty way things are
is that after my crummy house flipper landlord [who can't even fix my current leaky roof in his moldy backyard shed that I live in] offered to rent me a run-down farm property for 3K a month (valued -$500 by zillow) so that I could as he claimed, 'run a horse boarding business that would totally cover the rent'— I counter-offered that if he let me live there and sublet it for 6 months for my current rent or less while I did all the work needed to make it a livable horse property (which I've done successfully before), I would do that for him. I also explained why horse boarding isn't the easy money he's used to.
He graciously offered to drop the price to 2.4k and then gave up on the idea entirely when I didn't LEAP at the chance to spend an extra 1k+ a month for the honor of scraping the 2 feet of compacted cow shit out of the aisle of his dingy little barn, fixing half a dozen broken gates, repairing and building several fences, clearing piles of debris, maintaining barn plumbing, raising the stall walls, feeding the stray chickens, and generally cleaning the place up.
Nah, he would rather have it sit empty while he waits for some schmuck rich and dumb enough to dish out the 3k than risk actually building anything of real value in this world.
I took a snoop around the farmhouse too and tell me how it couldn't have been more than 10 years old based on the architectural style but all of the floors were lumpy and uneven under the cheap linoleum. All the showers were trendy tile and it was already cracked around the edge of the floor pan, so RIP the insides of the walls within 5 years. The ceiling fans were disco dancing. I found a rolled up rug that reeked of piss in a closet. The stove hood wasn't connected to a vent (shocker, neither is mine).
fuck flippers. fuck landlords. It pisses me off so much that unprofessional slobs like him who brag about how fast they can do the worst work you've ever seen can afford dozens of properties all over the country but a guy like me who just wants the opportunity to take good care of ONE will never get the chance.
#house flippers#rent#bad decisions#angry post#housing crisis#3k a month would literally be like 80% of my income lmao#why the hell would I take on a whole 3rd job just to pay him more money??#horse industry#it's bleak#personal problems

Bathroom Remodel Checklist: Transform Your Space with Weinstein Bath & Kitchen Showroom
Are you considering a bathroom remodel but need help figuring out where to start? At Weinstein Bath & Kitchen Showroom in Broomall, Pennsylvania, we understand that remodeling your bathroom is a significant and exciting undertaking. Whether you aim to improve functionality, enhance aesthetics, or increase your home’s value, our comprehensive bathroom remodel checklist will guide you every step of the way.
Planning Phase
Before you can call a contractor and get your new fixtures installed, you need a plan. This stage of the process is critical, as a good, well-thought-out plan will help make the future stages of the remodel far easier.
Define Your Goals
Your first step is determining what you want to achieve with your remodel. Are you looking to increase your bathroom’s functionality, enhance style, or boost your home’s overall value? Clearly defining your remodeling goals will help guide all other decisions.
Set a Budget
Setting a realistic budget is a crucial step in your bathroom remodel. A budget is more than the cost of new bathroom fixtures, materials, labor, and permits, but also about being prepared for any unexpected expenses that might pop up. A well-planned budget will keep your project on track and give you peace of mind, knowing you are prepared for any financial surprises.
Research and Gather Inspiration
Once you have set your goals and budget, get inspired! Dive into design magazines, websites, and social media platforms to find ideas that resonate with your style and preferences. When you see a bathroom you love, save the images, note the elements you like, and start visualizing your dream bathroom. This is the fun part of the process, where your creativity can shine.
Measure Your Bathroom
Accurate measurements are crucial during the planning phase to ensure that the space’s dimensions accommodate the chosen fixtures and layouts. This process helps avoid errors and ensures that everything fits perfectly, producing a satisfactory result. In addition, review your bathroom’s dimensions with any specific fixtures you are interested in, like vanities or sinks.
Consider Permits and Regulations
Check with your local building department to determine if permits are required. Understanding any relevant regulations will help you avoid complications down the line.
Design and Layout
After all the planning, measuring, and inspiration gathering, the time has come to settle on a design and layout. In this phase of the bathroom remodel checklist, you decide how you want your new bathroom to look and function.
Choose a Design Style
Consider choosing a design that enhances your home’s overall aesthetic. Whether you lean towards modern, traditional, or farmhouse styles, maintaining cohesiveness with the rest of your home will create a unified and pleasing appearance.
Plan the Layout
When planning your bathroom layout, consider the optimal positioning of fixtures such as the toilet, sink, shower, and tub. Additionally, explore diverse storage options like cabinets, shelves, and built-in niches to ensure a well-organized and clutter-free space. Moreover, the lighting design must be considered carefully to create an inviting ambiance and effectively illuminate critical areas.
Select Materials
Opt for durable, functional, and aesthetically pleasing materials. Your choices for flooring, countertops, walls, and fixtures can significantly impact the longevity and appearance of your bathroom.
Plumbing and Electrical
In addition to the design elements, you must consider plumbing and electricity during your remodel.
Plan for Plumbing Fixtures
Consider where the pipes are in your bathroom and drainage when picking out plumbing fixtures in your plan, such as the sink, toilet, shower, or bathtub.
Consider Electrical Needs
Lighting fixtures, outlets, and ventilation fans are crucial for a functional bathroom. Plan accordingly, such as understanding where the wiring is and how much room you have to incorporate these elements.
Demolition and Construction
Depending on the extent of your remodel, your bathroom may need demolition and construction work.
Existing fixtures, cabinets, and flooring must be carefully removed during demolition to avoid future problems.
Work with a contractor to install new plumbing, electrical, and framing if needed. Proper waterproofing for showers and tubs is crucial to prevent leaks.
Finishing Touches
At last, your bathroom is ready to have the new flooring, fixtures, storage, and everything else installed.
Flooring: Install your chosen flooring—tile, hardwood, or vinyl.
Walls: Complete your walls with paint or tiles that match your design vision.
Fixtures: Install new fixtures such as the sink, toilet, shower, bathtub, and faucets.
Cabinets and Countertops: Add stylish and functional storage with new cabinets and countertops.
Lighting: Incorporate adequate and elegant lighting fixtures.
Mirrors and Decor: To complete the look of your new bathroom, hang mirrors and add decorative elements like towels, rugs, and artwork.
Additional Considerations
In addition to the standard considerations for remodeling a bathroom, you should also consider these elements that can make your bathroom a more convenient and calming space in your home.
Accessibility
If you or a family member are living with mobility issues or are planning to age in place as an older adult, consider incorporating ADA-compliant features into your home. These features may include installing grab bars in the bathroom, opting for walk-in showers to make bathing more manageable and widening doorways to accommodate mobility aids such as wheelchairs or walkers. These modifications can significantly improve accessibility and safety.
Energy Efficiency
When choosing fixtures and appliances, consider using energy-efficient options to lower your environmental footprint and reduce utility expenses.
Ventilation
Proper ventilation is vital in your bathroom to prevent moisture accumulation and mold growth. Exhaust fans or open windows allow air to circulate. Additionally, using a dehumidifier will help maintain humidity levels.

"Personalizing Your Washroom: Unique Décor Ideas to Reflect Your Style"
When it comes to home decor, the washroom often gets overlooked. While kitchens and living rooms are meticulously designed to reflect the homeowner’s style, washrooms are frequently treated as mere functional spaces. However, with the right approach, your washroom can become a personal sanctuary—a space that not only meets practical needs but also reflects your unique style and taste. Here’s how you can personalize your washroom with professional interior designers.
Understanding Your Style
Before diving into decor ideas, it’s important to understand your personal style. Are you drawn to minimalist, modern aesthetics, or do you prefer a more traditional, rustic charm? Maybe you’re inspired by bohemian vibes, or perhaps a luxurious, spa-like environment is more your speed. Identifying your style will help guide your choices and ensure that your washroom feels cohesive with the rest of your home.
Minimalist and Modern
If you favor clean lines and a clutter-free environment, a minimalist, modern style might be for you. This approach focuses on simplicity and functionality, often using neutral color palettes with pops of color for interest. Consider sleek, wall-mounted vanities and frameless glass shower enclosures. The key is to keep the space open and airy, with everything serving a purpose.
Traditional and Rustic
For those who love the warmth and comfort of traditional or rustic styles, consider incorporating natural materials like wood and stone into your washroom decor. A farmhouse sink, wooden cabinetry, and vintage-inspired fixtures can create a cozy, inviting space. Soft, earthy tones will complement this style, making the washroom feel like a peaceful retreat.
Bohemian and Eclectic
Bohemian and eclectic styles are all about creativity and individuality. If you’re drawn to bold patterns, vibrant colors, and unique decor pieces, this might be the style for you. Mix and match textiles, use vintage rugs as bath mats, and incorporate plenty of plants to bring life to the space. Don’t be afraid to experiment with different materials and textures—this style thrives on diversity and character.
Luxury Spa
If relaxation and indulgence are what you’re after, a luxury spa-inspired washroom might be the perfect fit. Think marble countertops, rain showers, and soft, ambient lighting. High-end finishes, such as polished chrome or brushed gold, can add a touch of elegance. Soft, neutral colors like whites, creams, and light grays will create a serene atmosphere, perfect for unwinding after a long day.
Unique Decor Ideas to Reflect Your Style
Now that you have a better understanding of your personal style, let’s explore some unique decor ideas to bring your washroom to life.
1. Statement Lighting
Lighting is one of the most important elements in any washroom. It not only affects the functionality of the space but also sets the mood. Consider installing a statement light fixture that reflects your style. For a modern washroom, a sleek, geometric pendant light might be the perfect choice. If you prefer a more traditional look, a vintage-inspired chandelier could add a touch of elegance.
Layering your lighting is also key. Professional interior designers often recommend combining ambient lighting with task lighting. For instance, you might have recessed ceiling lights for general illumination, combined with wall-mounted sconces or LED strips around the mirror for focused task lighting. This not only enhances the functionality of your washroom but also adds depth and dimension to the space.
2. Customized Vanities
The vanity is often the focal point of the washroom, so why not make it a statement piece? A customized vanity can reflect your personal style and add a unique touch to the space. If you’re a fan of the rustic look, consider a vanity made from reclaimed wood. For a more contemporary feel, a floating vanity with a sleek, solid surface countertop could be the perfect fit.
To add a personal touch, consider incorporating unique hardware. Professional interior designers often recommend using hardware as a way to inject personality into a space. Whether you choose brass knobs, crystal handles, or matte black pulls, these small details can make a big impact.
3. Artistic Mirrors
Mirrors are essential in a washroom, but they don’t have to be boring. An artistic mirror can serve as a statement piece, adding both style and function to the space. For a modern washroom, consider a mirror with an asymmetrical or geometric shape. If you’re going for a more traditional look, an ornate, framed mirror could be the perfect addition.
For those who want to take it a step further, consider a backlit mirror. This adds a touch of luxury and provides soft, even lighting that’s perfect for tasks like applying makeup or shaving. Plus, it creates a stunning visual effect that can elevate the entire room.
4. Bold Tile Choices
Tiles are a great way to add color, pattern, and texture to your washroom. If you want to make a statement, consider using bold, patterned tiles on the floor or as a feature wall in the shower. Professional interior designers often use tiles to create focal points in a washroom, whether it’s a vibrant mosaic behind the vanity or a striking, floor-to-ceiling tile installation in the shower.
If you prefer a more subtle approach, consider using tiles in a unique layout, such as herringbone or chevron patterns. This adds visual interest without overwhelming the space. You can also mix and match different tile sizes and shapes to create a custom look that reflects your style.
5. Personalized Accessories
Accessories are the finishing touches that bring your washroom to life. This is where you can really let your personality shine. Consider adding personalized touches like monogrammed towels, custom soap dispensers, or a unique piece of artwork. Professional interior designers often recommend layering different textures and materials to create a cohesive look.
For example, you might combine a plush bath mat with a sleek, metal towel rack and a rustic wooden stool. The key is to choose accessories that complement your overall design while adding a touch of your personal style.
6. Plants and Greenery
Adding plants to your washroom can instantly elevate the space and make it feel more inviting. Whether you choose a large, statement plant like a fiddle leaf fig or smaller succulents on the vanity, greenery adds life and freshness to the washroom. Professional interior designers often use plants to bring a sense of calm and serenity to a space, making them the perfect addition to a washroom designed for relaxation.
When choosing plants, consider the lighting conditions in your washroom. Some plants thrive in low light, while others need bright, indirect sunlight. If you’re not sure which plants will work best, consult with a professional interior designer or a local nursery.
7. Scent and Ambiance
The way your washroom smells can have a big impact on how it feels. Consider adding scented candles, essential oil diffusers, or even a small bouquet of fresh flowers to create a pleasant aroma. Professional interior designers often emphasize the importance of scent in creating a welcoming environment.
In addition to scent, consider the overall ambiance of your washroom. Soft, ambient lighting, soothing colors, and comfortable textures can all contribute to a relaxing, spa-like atmosphere. The goal is to create a space where you can unwind and feel pampered.
Working with a Professional Interior Designer
While these decor ideas can help you personalize your washroom, working with a professional interior designer can take your space to the next level. A designer can help you refine your vision, choose the right materials and finishes, and ensure that everything comes together in a cohesive, stylish way.
One of the biggest advantages of working with a professional interior designer is their access to resources and expertise. They can source unique, high-quality materials and furnishings that aren’t available to the general public. They also have the experience to know what works and what doesn’t, saving you time and potential headaches.
A professional interior designer can also help you navigate any challenges that arise during the design process, whether it’s dealing with a small space, working within a budget, or finding solutions for tricky layouts. Their expertise ensures that your washroom not only looks great but also functions perfectly for your needs.
Conclusion
Your washroom is more than just a functional space; it’s an extension of your personal style and a reflection of your taste. By incorporating unique decor ideas and working with a professional interior designer, you can transform your washroom into a stylish, personalized sanctuary that you’ll love spending time in.
Whether you’re drawn to the sleek lines of modern design, the cozy charm of rustic decor, or the vibrant energy of bohemian style, there are endless ways to make your washroom truly your own. So go ahead, get creative, and turn your washroom into a space that reflects your unique style and personality.

How to Create Beautiful Farmhouse Bathrooms
Whether you live in a farmhouse or a modern home, you can still create a gorgeous bathroom that’s both comfortable and functional. You just need to know the basics. Luckily, we’ve put together this easy guide to help you do just that.
White shiplap walls
Adding white shiplap walls in a farmhouse bathroom is a great way to add some character to the space. These walls can serve as a backdrop for a farmhouse style bathroom or they can add a rustic touch to a bathroom that is more modern.
It is important to use moisture resistant paint on your shiplap wall. Moisture can damage your walls and cause mildew growth. There are moisture resistant paints available in a semi-goss, satin, or high-goss sheen. You can also use polyurethane to protect the wood.
The best way to install shiplap is to start with a clean wall. Remove any light switches, baseboards, or other items that are in the way. It is also a good idea to sand down the nail holes before you install shiplap.
Claw-foot bathtub
Adding a claw-foot bathtub to your bathroom can make it look more farmhouse-style. It’s a popular bathtub style that complements traditional decorating styles. It’s also an option for bathrooms that have transitional and contemporary decorating styles.
The most common size of claw-foot bathtubs is five feet. They’re available in a range of colors. Some manufacturers will let you custom-color your claw-foot bathtub. A few popular colors include white, brown, and black.
Claw-foot bathtubs can be purchased in fiberglass or acrylic. Acrylic is less expensive than fiberglass, but it’s also heavier. Fiberglass is easier to clean than acrylic. Fiberglass claw-foot bathtubs are also less prone to discoloration.
Claw-foot bathtubs can also be freestanding. They usually do not come with a faucet or drain assembly. However, they can be converted to a shower head. It’s important to have a flexible shower hose that can target water.
Grey tiled floor
Using a grey tiled floor in a farmhouse bathroom can make a room look both chic and cozy. Its clean lines and neutral color palette make it a great base for many different materials.
Grey is a classic monochrome color that works well with patterned wallpaper, bold wall colors, and more. Its soft, subtle shading works well with darker color tiles on the floor.
For a unique look, try laying tile in a vertical pattern. Vertical lines in tile make a room feel bigger.
A woven pattern is another option. It takes more work, but it can be a great way to add pattern to a grey tiled floor.
If you’re feeling more adventurous, try experimenting with a herringbone pattern. This is a woven pattern that is laid out in two different shades of grey.
Repurposed decor
Using repurposed decor for farmhouse bathrooms can add a unique touch to the room. It is a good way to bring in a rustic and farmhouse feel without breaking the bank. Whether you want to add a touch of farmhouse decor to your existing bathroom or you are building a new home, here are some ideas for reclaimed wood and other rustic bathroom decor.
For a rustic and farmhouse feel, try using natural wood and stone elements. This can include reclaimed wood cabinets, floors, and walls. You can also incorporate plants into the design.
For a classic farmhouse-inspired bathroom, use warm neutral colors and classic furniture. You can add a vintage-inspired look with a reclaimed wood vanity and a few shabby chic details. This can include colorful cabinetry, vintage wallpaper, and outdoor elements.
Wainscoting molding
Adding wainscoting to your bathroom can create a charming farmhouse feel. It can also help you protect your wall from moisture damage. Wainscoting is also a budget-friendly way to add a decorative touch.
Traditionally, wainscoting is made from wood. But, today, you can find wainscoting made of molded drywall, plastic, and even embossed metal. There are even wood substitutes, like vinyl, which is water-resistant and doesn’t rot.
Beadboard is the most common type of wainscoting. This paneling is made up of simple wooden panels. It includes vertical grooves and raised beads. The individual boards are 32 to 48 inches long.
The paneling is often paired with raised wood panels. These panels have a bottom rail and horizontal rails at the top. This combination creates a classic recessed box.

How do I remodel my bathroom in 2023
Understanding your bathroom is the first step.
Which features do you require and which don’t? What are your priorities
Then start looking at products that fit those requirements.
You might not find exactly what your looking for but there are many options.
Here’s some stuff to consider:
Size – How big your bathroom is? You will need to make modifications to accommodate new fixtures.
Style – Which style do you prefer? Contemporary, traditional, etc.? Style – Bathrooms come in various traditional, modern, and transitional styles. The traditional style is popular since Victorian times. It features natural stone floors. Modern bathrooms are sleek and feature glass finishes. Transitional designs combine elements from both traditional and contemporary styles.
Layout – Some people like smaller spaces and others prefer more space. How would you like your bathroom laid out?
Color Scheme – Which colors do you want for your bathroom?
Lighting: How much light are you able to get?
Storage – Do I need more storage space for my bathroom? Do you have enough storage space? Are you lacking enough storage space?
Ventilation: Is your bathroom ventilated properly?
Features – You need to think about how many features you would like in your new bathroom. A heated towel rack or steam shower might be something you’d like. Do you need a spa tub or a Jacuzzi? Do you prefer a walk-in or separate bathtub and shower?
Budget – You should also consider your budget. This will allow you to narrow down your options and avoid overspending.
Warranty – It is important to confirm that the manufacturer provides a product warranty. This guarantees that the product will perform for a set period.
Once you have a clear understanding of your needs, you can start to look at products. You can search online, in magazines or in stores. When you find the item you love, compare prices. Read reviews before you make a purchase.
Are bigger tiles better in a small bath?
Yes, large tiles work well in small bathrooms. They make the space appear larger and brighter. They can be used on the floors or walls to create a cohesive design. You should use large format tiles to avoid grout lines on your floors and walls.
What’s the most desired bathroom color in 2023?
Benjamin Moore’s pick for the 2023 year’s color in 2023 was revealed as part of its annual Colour Trends collection. It’s called Raspberry Blush. This vivid red-orange color has us thinking: Bold, bright, boldest. This bold, unapologetic shade sets the scene for Colour Trends 2023. Colour Trends 2023 was inspired by the artist’s desire for colour and shape to communicate. It is designed to envelope you in vivid shades that make a statement. Benjamin Moore recruited the electro-funk duo Chromeo to mark the year’s selection and highlight the dynamic role colour has in our everyday lives.
PPG and Glidden reached out to 35 color stylists from all over the world to share their predictions about which colours would be most influential by 2023. Their answers ranged from the obvious — like a return to earthy neutrals — to the unexpected — like a resurgence of neon pink. They came to the conclusion that acceptance of change was the main theme of all responses.
Glidden and PPG named Vining Ivy the shared 2023 Color Of The Year. ViningIvy is a bright blend of jewel tones, natural materials. It is a bridge between the past and the future, a now-and-thens exploration of colour choices made in PPG’s professional audience.
What bathroom sinks would you recommend for 2023 style?
A variety of bathroom sink styles will be very popular in 2023. Some of the most popular styles include:
Vessel Sinks: These vessel sinks are very popular in bathrooms. These sinks can be a bold statement in your bathroom with their unique style.
The Undermount Sink. This undermount sink is also popular in bathrooms. They can modernize your bathroom’s look with their sleek, modern design.
The pedestal sink: Another classic option for bathroom sinks is the pedestal sink. They are elegant and practical, with a timeless design that will look great in any bathroom.
Integrated sink/countertop: A new trend, the integrated sink/countertop has been growing in popularity. This option offers a seamless look for your bathroom. There is no gap between sink and countertop because the sink is integrated in the countertop. This can give your bathroom a clean and contemporary look.
No matter the style, make sure it compliments your bathroom’s overall decor. You want your bathroom to be where you love and feel comfortable. The sink you choose will help you reach that goal.

DIY bathroom renovations, in particular, can save you several thousand dollars over hiring a professional. Reducing the amount of tile used and refinishing fixtures instead of replacing them are two other ways to save money on a septic instal harvey wa.
Remodeling Your Bathroom: Step-by-Step Instructions
Make Choices About the Look
Select a plan for the bathroom remodel that works with your aesthetic goals and your level of comfort with DIY projects before you get started. This can be done in a variety of ways, from simply changing the vanity and painting the walls to completely gutting the room and beginning again.
Before beginning your bathroom makeover, there are a few things you must decide about.
Color Scheme: Trying for a Farmhouse-y Contemporary Feel? Or perhaps a modern, minimalist style would better suit your tastes. If you want your new bathroom tiles to go with the new paint, it's a good idea to find some photographs of your vision in advance to help you visualize it.
Upgraded fittings: Do you plan to get a new bathtub or shower soon? A new sink installation, perhaps? Both of these light bulbs need to be replaced, which will increase the duration and cost of your job.
Places to put things: After the renovation, where will you put your bathroom linens? Make sure you have enough shelves or cabinets in your bathroom to make up for the lost storage space caused by the removal of a closet in order to create room for an expansion.
Utility mapping: Can you describe the layout of the plumbing and electrical systems? Don't risk harming these connections and spending money fixing them by failing to mark out the places where you'll be working.
Bathroom Renovation: Step-by-Step Instructions
First, take down any sanitary ware
If you plan on doing any kind of major work to your bathroom, the first step is to take down the walls and any old fixtures. DIY bathroom gutting isn't hard, but if you want to avoid making expensive blunders during demolition, read on.
First things first when gutting a bathroom: turn off the water, drain the toilet, and take it out.
Bathtub removal requires covering the tub and removing the tile around it down to the studs. To accommodate your new shower or tub layout, it will be required to rebuild the plumbing.
If any of the insulation in your walls has to be removed, do so now. Insulation is not something to be pounded on. Cut the panels out using a reciprocating saw instead.
2. Set up the New Bathtub or Shower
The new bathroom fittings can be installed after the bathroom has been gutted. The flooring should be replaced before installing a new shower if there are any symptoms of rotted wood or water damage.
When replacing a tub or shower, it's important to find a pan or basin that complements your new design aesthetic and the footprint of the outgoing fixture. The most common shapes for basins are rectangles, squares, and pentagons (with one corner removed). Consider the door and any other fixtures already installed in the bathroom before settling on a base shape.

8 DISTINCT SHOWER CEILING IDEAS FOR YOUR BATHROOM THAT WON’T GO UNNOTICED
Shower ceilings usually don’t make it on the shortlist of priorities when you’re renovating a bathroom. With so many different accents that draw focus from flooring to fixtures, it makes sense that most people wouldn’t give the ceiling a second thought. In the end though, it’d be a lost opportunity to ignore the power of this blank canvas.
A pattern, color, or texture can add character to your bathroom ceiling that once seen, can’t go unnoticed. With no shortage of materials and designs to choose from, there’s something to match every personal aesthetic. If you’re still not convinced, the shower ceiling ideas below are likely to change your mind! Take a look and see how a simple ceiling change can transform your shower into something truly special.
1. WOOD PANELS
It’s no secret that the modern farmhouse style has taken over the interior design world in recent years. With that, it’s brought back wood paneling throughout homes, ceilings being no exception. Offering a natural and warm feel, wood is one of the best shower ceiling ideas for a rustic style. The fact that you can choose from a plethora of wood species also makes way for color and texture choices; Along with a range of pricing to fit different project budgets.
It’s important to remember that natural wood is susceptible to certain risks, water damage being one of them. Rot and warping are key damages to look out for. Proper sealing of materials will mitigate long term damage but upkeep is something to consider. Damaged pieces of natural wood are also harder to repair, unlike other options that allow you to trade out a piece that will have the exact same color and texture.
2. STONE
Stone shower ceilings are where beauty and durability collide! Stone comes in plenty of colors and textures, each with an ease of cleaning that’s a major draw to many. Coming in larger sheets and cuts, the amount of grouting is generally much less than that of a tile job. If all of that wasn’t enough, the increase in home value puts stone over the top. Due to its value alone, a stone shower ceiling stands to hike up that resale price.
Unfortunately for some, this level of durability comes at a cost. Stone isn’t cheap and while it does come in different grades of cost, it’s not in everyone’s price range. Even though its daily maintenance is easy, the same can’t be said for overall maintenance. Depending upon your stone selection, you’ll have to be on top of resealing it as well.
3. STYROFOAM
A cheaper alternative on the rise, styrofoam shower ceilings (tiles in specific) have some surprisingly enticing qualities. They act as a great insulator which is particularly helpful in the hottest and coldest months. Not only do they look authentic, they come in any style you could imagine, colors too. They’re also very easy to replace should one become damaged. Even though it’s not made to be waterproof, you can waterproof it via a sealant or resin for long lasting protection.
The number one issue you’ll find with this material is its fragility. Styrofoam isn’t known to be durable but this may not be as much of a concern as the shower ceiling isn’t a surface that’s physically used. It does also tend to stain more easily than other materials available. Again, it might not be as much of a concern since it’s on the ceiling but it’s a consideration nonetheless.
4. PAINT
If you’re on a tight budget but still looking for that wow factor for your shower ceiling, paint is the best choice for you. Bold color selections like that above create an unmatched contrast for a designer look at a price anyone can afford. Paint doesn’t just limit you to color though; You can also have patterns via stencils that produce the illusion of other materials.
Paint is also a low maintenance option that’s extremely easy to touch up when need be. Your main concern with paint is going to be building up enough of a barrier to keep moisture out. It never hurts to start with a primer as it stops the peeling process and helps the paint to bond to the surface. A higher sheen will also prevent water intrusion, though it may be a shinier finish than many prefer.
5. BEAMS
Shower ceiling beams are an excellent addition to your bathroom’s architecture, often used to put a spotlight on high ceilings; They can also make a smaller room appear larger. You’re not bound by style or price with beam ceiling accents either! They come in different materials like wood, metal, faux wood and more, offering limitless style options. It’s because of this that the price ranges, sometimes at a lower cost than many think.
Depending on the material chosen, you can run into some issues. As with wood panels, genuine wood beams can become damaged if they’re not sealed and maintained correctly. For wood and metal beams, weight is also a concern, especially as it relates to installation. Since these beams are usually decorative, they offer little to no support to the home’s structure; This makes that extra weight something to consider.
6. TILE
Lately, it’s become far more common to see tile used on the shower ceiling. It makes sense when the rest of the shower is tile too, creating a cohesive end result like the one pictured above. Tile does a great job at repelling moisture and its overall durability is one of its most desirable characteristics. It’s available in many colors and is often used to construct a custom appearance with patterns like herringbone, chevron, and the like.
The main complaint with tile is keeping the grout clean. Depending on the design, you could end up with lots of grout lines that are known to harbor mildew. Also, while tile isn’t the most expensive option on this list, it’s also not the cheapest. Tiling materials add up quickly when you’re covering the entire shower top to bottom. It can also be hard to install tile at the angle required of a shower ceiling project.
7. METAL
Naturally impervious to water intrusion and mold, the use of metal for shower ceilings is an extremely functional option. They’re also fire and warp resistant, needing very little maintenance, perfect for the busy homeowner. You can use corrugated metal sheets as pictured above or even decorative metal ceiling tiles that come in different patterns and types like tin, copper and more. From rustic to modern, metal can fit the bill!
You’d be hard pressed to find many cons when it comes to metal shower ceilings. There are a few to note though. First, while they’re very durable, if you happen to dent certain types of metals it may not be an easy replacement; Especially for materials used in sheet form like the picture seen above. Metal can also be a pricey choice depending on which variety you like.
8. SKYLIGHT
Hands down the most luxurious of shower ceiling ideas, a shower skylight ceiling. There’s nothing quite like taking in the blue sky and sunlight directly from above in your very own shower. Not to mention, it takes care of the ventilation issue many bathrooms have. A functional shower skylight allows its user to open the hatch before, during or after; Properly ventilating the space and mitigating excess moisture causing damage.
All good things have their drawbacks though, roof leaks being a main one for shower skylights. With so many gaps and crevices in the mechanism itself, it’s easy to see why. Heat loss in the cooler months can also make the shower space too brisk. Plastic encasements may become more brittle over time as well, also taking on more sun damage than that of a metal framed one.
CONCLUSION
While unique shower ceiling ideas might not be the first thing you think of when you remodel, it’d be an amazing focal point to polish off any bathroom. From more simple shower ceiling ideas like a bold color to a detailed install like tile, there’s a range of options each with their own eye-catching attributes.

In this article, we'll explore some of the top design ideas for vintage-inspired small bathroom designs.
Vintage Tile Patterns
One of the easiest ways to add vintage charm to your small bathroom is by using vintage tile patterns. Choose tile designs that evoke the era you're interested in, such as Art Deco, mid-century modern, or Victorian. You can also mix and match different tile patterns for a unique and eclectic look.
Clawfoot Tub
A clawfoot tub is a classic vintage design element that can add elegance and charm to any small bathroom. Not only is it a beautiful statement piece, but it also saves space since it doesn't require any wall space for installation. Plus, soaking in a clawfoot tub can be an indulgent and relaxing experience.
Vintage Mirrors
Vintage mirrors are another easy way to add vintage-inspired design elements to your small bathroom. Look for antique or vintage mirrors with ornate frames or interesting shapes. You can also create a vintage-inspired mirror by repurposing an old window or door frame and adding a mirror.
Vintage Lighting
Vintage lighting fixtures can add a touch of glamour and sophistication to your small bathroom. Look for chandeliers, sconces, or pendant lights with intricate details and antique finishes. Vintage lighting can also be a great way to highlight other vintage design elements in your bathroom.
Vintage Vanity
A vintage vanity can add character and charm to your small bathroom. Look for a vanity with ornate details, interesting shapes, and antique finishes. You can also repurpose an antique dresser or table to create a vintage-inspired vanity.
Vintage Accessories
Adding vintage accessories to your small bathroom is a great way to add charm and personality. Look for antique or vintage items such as perfume bottles, shaving kits, and other vintage bathroom items. You can also add vintage-inspired textiles like lace or embroidered towels or shower curtains.
Rustic Accents
If you prefer a more rustic vintage-inspired look, consider adding rustic accents to your small bathroom. Look for vintage-inspired wooden accessories, such as a wooden ladder for towels or a rustic wooden mirror. You can also add natural elements like plants or woven baskets.
Conclusion
Vintage-inspired small bathroom designs can transform your space into a charming and elegant retreat that you'll love spending time in. Consider adding vintage tile patterns, a clawfoot tub, vintage mirrors, vintage lighting, a vintage vanity, vintage accessories, and rustic accents to create a unique and personalised vintage-inspired bathroom. By bathroom renovation services which incorporate these design elements, you can create a space that evokes the glamour and sophistication of a bygone era while still feeling fresh and modern. Don't be afraid to mix and match different design elements to create a unique and personalised vintage-inspired bathroom that reflects your style and personality.
