“Farmer Strike Urged in West,” The Globe and Mail. December 2, 1938. Page 01. --- Vegreville, Alta., Dec. 1 (CP) - A Co-operative Commonwealth Federation convention here yesterday approved a suggestion Western Canadian farmers call a ‘planting strike’ next spring. The suggestion was incorporated in a notion criticizing the 80-cent-a-bushel wheat price ‘peg’ this year and ‘inadequate’ prices offered for coarse grains.
