doing my best to keep this blog a positive space surrounding dragon age <3 yes i know EA is shitty etc etc but i want to try and enjoy the game we'll get after how long we've been waiting for this game.

while i try to keep this blog positive, i might rb or post character critical stuff, though i don't really hate any of the companions. if you'd like to know who i'm critical of ahead of time feel free to ask (either via an ask- anon or not- or via message), i understand, don't worry. though i'll also say if you're critical of anders we might not get along. he's done nothing wrong.

be warned that while i try my best to tag spoilers (datv spoilers and da4 spoilers) i might forget. plus i do most of my tumblr browsing via mobile and that i'm not always 100% sure on what counts as a spoiler or not.

also, i'm an adult! i might occasionally post or reference nsfw stuff. likely only text and it'll all be tagged, but you've been warned.

so curious about catgirl and wolfboy

Oh boy, this is the most chaotic WIP and also the one that requires the most explanation, haha. Thanks for asking, though!

The Further Adventures of Catgirl and Wolfboy is an urban fantasy story inspired by Irish mythology, about Faolan, an immortal druid living in present-day NYC and his mischievous cat shapeshifter faerie friend, Ciara. (Faolan's name means "little wolf" so I like to refer to him and Ciara as the catgirl & wolfboy duo, though my sister keeps protesting that this makes it sound like I'm writing about furries, which is not the case.)

The chaotic part is that it's the sequel to a short story I wrote in a fiction workshop back in spring 2022, which had a very long developmental period. Faolan as a character has been bouncing around in my head for about a decade–in middle school I wrote Percy Jackson fanfiction about original characters who I then later transplanted to a fully original story, where he was a side character who briefly popped up to offer them some magical advice advice but then I found him interesting enough that I took him and stuck him in a different original story idea, which I never ended up writing. Then I randomly wrote a short story about him for a workshop and got a lot of feedback like "this is fun, but it feels like there's a lot more of the story than can really fit in this page count." Further Adventures is the note document where I keep ideas for any kind of future stories about Faolan and Ciara (maybe a short story sequel, maybe a whole novel?? who knows??) and currently consists of a lot of eloquent bullet points like so:

It's probably the least existing of my current works-in-progress, but I do open the document to add random thoughts every so often, so I guess it is technically a WIP. (It just…doesn't really have a plot beyond Faolan and Ciara wandering around and getting in trouble with various supernatural Irish creatures.)

so i thought why not post the art (and yes i did ask for permission to post it) to showcase the characters

Why not start with the protagonist Orev Karva Arminius Vi-Fervall himself It's impossible to explain my thought process about this guy because I rotate him in my head at light speed literally all the time (it is terminal) He is the older twin child of the archduchess Raenill Karva Arminius and the older twin of our second protagonist When his city is attacked by an invading army he runs away and abandons his home city to its fate where will he go? Will he return to take it back? Who knows (not me)

Ashelyn Karva Arminius Vi-Fervall is our second protagonist (and a headache since i didn't plan her plotline nearly as much before putting her in the story but I still like her)

While Orev chose to run away while his city was under attack she chose to hide (which proved to be a bad idea) and now she is stuck being a puppet ruler while trying to preserve her autonomy and take out the ruler controlling her beneath his nose

And now we have Magnie Vi-Daulfenn (the one who is holding the brain cells)

She is a Platinumforged (if you want to know what that means you'll have to read it) Im not really sure where her plot is gonna go but it sure is fun to think about her becoming Encrusted (once again im not telling you)

Then there's Faolan Wolventhorn (yes I know the last name isn't very creative to give for a wolf person but shush) he is also very fun to think about He's a deaf swordsman wolf-boy who wants to be the next head of his House

Then there's Faolan's Sibling Fyndrenn They are a very late addition to characters i spin in my head but i am already starting to get somewhere They state their goal is supporting their brother in his ambitions (there may be something else too who knows not me) If they were to be in a different setting than fantasy they would be in a western

But he just needed to tell Alphinaud that he had a home, he had a family so long as Altai was alive. So long as Gaius was there, too--all of them were family. He cupped his hand around Alphinaud's and squeezed. "You are not alone," he whispered. "Never, never, in a thousand thousand years, will you be alone."

Gaius was quiet. He knew how it felt to be abandoned. It felt like it was just yesterday he heard the voice of Solus telling him that he'd misinterpreted their feelings. He let his paw hang down at his side. He felt a small, soft hand wrap around his pinky, trembling slightly. He didn't have to say anything to her. If she needed to hear it, she'd make it known. All she needed was his physical presence, his very existence. If a man of a monster like him could live, so could she.

Alice laid her lovely, heavy head on Faolan’s shoulder. Her pale hair shone like cornsilk and her skin was white as a corpse’s. The point of her lovely, pointy chin dug into Faolan’s deltoid like a dull canine. “You could leave it chipped and dulling,” she said. Her voice was high and sweet, like the girl she’d been when she’d first come across Wonderland.

“The next me,” Alice mused. Her skin and breath were cold as still snowmelt in the deep of winter. Faolan was a beast of flame and fang. Alice, beast or no, was of saltwater and silver. Mirrors within mirrors; lakes within lakes. “What if I’m all there is? What if you are all there is?”

“Neither of those things can be true. The story will turn on.” Faolan ducked under a low-hanging branch and hissed in frustration as the hilt of the sword snagged on the dangling vines. There was a smithy just beyond the tree line out there: Faolan could smell the forge and taste the hot iron behind its teeth. It had all the gear it needed save for a whetstone for this damn thing, but it was dangerously close to throwing in the towel and picking up the next appropriately-sized rock instead.

“You always were full of yourself,” Faolan muttered. Even before killing Alice, it had seen countless iterations of the girl come and go. She had always been arrogant in the way of a spoiled child, though, yet somehow charming and sweet enough to make up for it. As quick to smile as she’d been to cry. Not that Faolan would know firsthand. It had always been too busy getting “off with your head”-ed.
