I’ll admit that I write sporadic fluff too, just to practice on more things, but it’s the thought that counts, right? Jokes aside, fluff can be just as important as any other content! 🙌🏻

I must say that I also tend to write stories without ships or romantic relationships.

I have really enjoyed reading your answers to the rare pair tag game. I have added a lot of the fics that you recommended on your latest answer to my 'Marked for Later' list on a03 to enjoy over the weekend. I was wondering your honest thoughts are on the following ships: Tom/Ron, James/Snape, Tom/Hermione, Molly/Bellatrix, James/Regulus and Snape/Lily and Dudley/Draco. I apologise for the number of ships and I am really curious on your opinions.

[i know you sent a message apologising for sending some ships which were asked before, but i love to chatter, so i'm going in to answer the original...]

tom riddle | voldemort/ron weasley

obviously this is the crack pairing when it comes to voldemort + a member of the trio - while tomarrymort and tomione/volmione stories number into the thousands on ao3, voln/ton/rom/ronmort/whatever we're calling it has a grand total of... ten tagged works.

i think this is a tremendous shame, but not - it's important to say - because i agree with the tedious fanon idea, particularly prevalent in ships which feature hermione with anyone else, that ron would make a good death eater [as you will see below, i think that honour belongs firmly to hermione herself...] - even in a voldemort wins au, ron isn't going over to the dark side. it sounds too much like hard work.

instead, i'm into this pairing because ron is... kind of mother. he likes to look after people and he channels his negative emotions into doing this [he wouldn't have left the tent if harry and hermione had learned how to shoplift properly and he could be settled in front of a nice pot, i'll die on that hill]. just imagine little captive ron - maybe the snatchers recognised him, maybe voldemort's won and everyone else is dead - bustling around his gilded prison in malfoy manor making the dark lord a cup of tea when he turns up to psychologically torture him. voldemort would - as i am - be intrigued.

and if, in fact, you'd like to see almost exactly this situation play out, you will definitely enjoy wind tunnels by @mrmxlemons. ron isn't having a good time, but his cooking is.

james potter/severus snape

i've not read much snames, so this is mostly just based on general vibes: i think it's fine but not fantastic.

as i've said in literally everything i've ever posted about sirius black/severus snape, snack is a great pairing because they're narrative mirrors, something which creates so much drama that it makes me scream.

severus and james don't have this - if anything, they're narrative opposites. james is adored by his parents, he's rich, he gets the girl, his best friend is in love with him and not the other way round, he's the ringleader of his gang rather than a follower, his whole family have been gryffindors, and so on and so forth. obviously opposites attract, but you haven't got the immediate potential for connection that you have between severus and characters such as sirius, lily, and - let's all be real - voldemort.

i'm not really going to get into the bullying debate here, but it seems to me that severus would regard james - had he lived - in a similar way to how he regards the adult lupin; that is, that he would completely disassociate from any situation in which he's present, rather than love getting in his face as he does with sirius. i don't love snupin for this reason [i'll read it, of course, but it always feels extremely ooc to me] - the fissure caused by their conflicting personalities simply runs too deep, and my suspicion is that snames is the same.

hermione granger/tom riddle | voldemort

so, this is the one where I think I'm likely to deviate most significantly from the opinions of my dash...

i think it's entirely plausible, but only from hermione's side.

the argument i've seen most against tomione/volmione is that hermione's moral code would never permit her to accept anything less than a voldemort who was transformed into a man she would want - which means the whole murder thing needs to get thrown in the bin.

i... disagree. the canonical hermione is someone who is very morally inflexible in relation to how she expects others to behave, but incredibly morally flexible - and often quite immoral - in pursuit of things she herself wants or thinks she wants. she is also the cruelest and most ruthless member of the trio. she thinks herself rational and would - therefore - be the easiest for anyone cleverer than rita skeeter to manipulate. she is very lonely, and would, in a situation in which she was captured, be the member of the trio most swayed by basic demonstrations of kindness [lord voldemort only needs to endure a brief conversation about hogwarts: a history and hint that harry and ron aren't coming to look for her and he's golden]. she always thinks she's right - if she's convinced just by harry and ron not telling her otherwise that her knitted hats are freeing house elves in their droves, i am certain she could be convinced that she won concessions for muggleborns under voldemort's regime through her own skill and not because he wanted to grant them anyway. and so on.

whether the relationship is something she has to do or wants to do, i think she'd be able to justify it to herself as a necessary evil which doesn't actually go against her standards for herself. that she would never think this for harry and ron if they shacked up with the dark lord is part of the fun...

from voldemort's perspective, while he definitely has a weakness for dark curly hair [bellamort nation, rise up], i cannot see him going for it as anything other than a tool of psychological warfare [whereas i think you can write e.g. tomarry based very much in mutual attraction]. intellectually, while hermione is very clever, she doesn't have the interest in experimentation which voldemort has [this is why snapemort and riddledore both always slap - they have the same views on magic], she's extremely condescending, which is his thing, she obviously grew up incredibly rich, and her dour, whiggish empiricism doesn't align very well with his late-antique-emperor's view of the world.

she doesn't give a shit about dead rabbits though. maybe they could bond over that.

bellatrix lestrange/molly weasley

yeah why not. they canonically went to hogwarts at the same time and bellatrix is definitely giving off jilted ex vibes in that final duel.

would molly put up with bella's nonsense? absolutely not. bellatrix would have exactly the same reaction as fleur to the burrow - nothing to do except cooking and chickens - and the ensuing argument would burn the place to the ground far more interestingly than that dogshit scene in the half-blood prince film.

as i said here, i'm into it in a post-james world where lily is trying to rebuild her life by connecting with her past.

so let's take it from a different angle: do i think it could work in the pre-james era?

absolutely not. i think these two need something as seismic as catastrophic loss to force them to actually engage with each other as they are, rather than as the versions they've constructed in their heads. at school, where they're both just dancing round each other, never seeing eye-to-eye on anything, they're never going to be able to get to that place.

i also think james needs to be out of the picture - she's clearly into him long before the mudblood incident, and that knowledge would only ever make severus astonishingly unpleasant to have as a boyfriend. rip king, but you were lost in service of shipping.

dudley dursley/draco malfoy

yeah it's hot. boxer!dudley is enormous and ripped, what's not to love. draco deserves a huge boy who also hates harry.

plus imagine narcissa vs petunia on the topic of their darling boys. or lucius vs vernon when the former pulls up to privet drive in a flying rolls royce. i would be seated.

Ok this is random, and all but I have made it my sworn duty to submit at least 3 questions a week, and it's like a minute before the end of this week. Have you ever been in a harry Potter phase, because I saw you use it as a reference for one post about happy robin, and also because I'm stumped on what to ask you and I DO NOT want to break my record

I HAD A HUGE HARRY POTTER PHASE!!

Harry Potter was my first book series ever actually and I just completely fell in love with it. Batfam came much later but the longest ongoing fandom I've ever been in is the Harry Potter now. I haven't been in it for about a year now but wow it was my first fandom ever. I used to read dramione fics on wattpad lol my first fanfiction introduction.

I was a massive hermione stan so I read a bunch of fics about her. My favorite pairing used to dramione but as I grew older I started falling into tomione (^◇^；) but really I was casual hermione x everyone shipper.

I even did the pottermore thing too online where you can quiz yourself to see what house, wand, and patronus you get and I got slytherin which didn't come as a surprise at all. At the time I thought it was so cool to be part of the evil house lol. I was such an embarrassing kid looking back.

Actually I originally created my tumblr account to see dramione stuff lol before I started getting into other fandoms and it became my fall back fandom when I was bored with the other ones or did want to engage with them.

I didn't really have a second favorite character after Hermione, I don't think Dumbledore deserves to be hated for being manipulative, and wtf is going on with the cursed child.

Writing this is giving me so many flashbacks it makes me want to start reading the fics again! It's also 1 of only 6 fandoms I've ever created a separate list of fics for because I really loved the source thing.

My favorite class was Charms because I thought it would be the most useful too. Don't want to make your bed? Magic! Don't want to clean the kitchen? Magic! Want to redecorate? Magic!!! Charms is so versatile that you can use it for anything. If voldemort was smarter he would've magicked his face to look normal using Charms, approached harry, and killed him. Voila! Problem solved! But I guess he lost his brains along with his beauty sadly but not unfortunately.

I heard there's a new Marauders movie coming out?? I wasn't going to watch it but then I saw people shipping James Potter and Regulus Black together because of it and now I want to see it only out of sheer bewilderment of what could've possibly led to that. Or so I tell myself.

The Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them!! I LOVED the movie series!!! The first two were really good and third was okay but all that doesn't matter because the graphics. Unpopular opinion but I really loved the original Percy Jackson movies even though they were nothing like the books because the graphics were so cool. Action movies are my favorite so seeing columns of water rise up and seeing how real it looked, it was like a fantasy turned reality! The Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts movie series, I fell in love watching them because of the magic.

Which is hilarious now because I used to be scared of watching the Harry Potter movies! When my parents watched the first movie and I was really little I would hide because I was really scared of Voldemort and felt really sad about Harry losing his parents and the thought of it made me cry 😅🙈

But yeah Harry Potter is like number 2 biggest fandom for me right after the Batfam although it used to be number one. I have a fleeting interest span. So if I'm addicted to a show but I don't watch it for a few days, I lose all interest in it completely and forever (sorry Vampire Diaries) or a game (goodbye sky: children of the light) but these two fandoms, I can not be in them for several months or even years but I never lose interest. Just my love for them ig!

Getting To Know You Tag Game

Three ships: Dramione, Tomione, Jurdan

First ship: I was never a fanfic reader growing up. In addition to YA books, I read original stories on Facebook's Bathroom Wall and Wattpad. Dramione is my first exploration of fanfic. That said, I loved Chair (Chuck & Blair) and Delena (Damon & Elena) from the TV shows.

Last Song: I've been jamming to a lot of Lorde's "Pure Heroine" lately. 400 Luxe is stuck in my head all the time. Also, “Pink + White” by Frank Ocean.

Last Movie: Barbie. Got my pink-fix over the weekend 🩷

So besides Jikook, I'm addicted to Dramione. So I'm gonna start sharing some of those too, just in case anyone else ships those two together, or are just looking to read fantastic love stories.

A rule, though. I don't allow ship shaming on my blog. So if you've got a problem with the fact that I love me some Draco and Hermione together, kindly keep it to yourself. I'm also a sucker for Dreomione, which is Draco/Hermione/Theo, a powerhouse magical triad. And yes, also Tomione, which is Tom Riddle and Hermione.

Don't come at me. Tomione has some of the best dark romances out there. And it's not Voldemort. It's his young, human self.

So, the first Dramione I shall share is a classic and one of my top five.

This is a post-war healing fic. They are all adults here, and are all on friendly terms.

After the war, Draco got addicted to potions to numb the pain. He is now sober, and sees a therapist weekly. For the past few years he has gotten morning coffee at a cafe in muggle London because he enjoys the anonymity of it.

Imagine his surprise when he sees one Hermione Granger getting coffee there one day too. He tries to steer clear of her because he knows she probably hates him, but that comes to a head when he catches her sitting at his table.

Needless to say, he makes an ass of himself, then is confused when Hermione is nice to him.

Thus starts their friendship that slowly turns to romance. Both are struggling with PTSD, and the expectations put on them simply because of who they were during the war.

This is one of my favorite Draco. He is flawed, and second guesses his own value a lot. Luckily with enough patience, Hermione shows him that he deserves to be loved and happy.

I guess we all keep ourselves up to date with AO3 fics to a certain extent, whereas sometimes it slips our mind to check FanFiction... Ahh, thank you so much! And do you know I think this is the first time someone has asked me for recs? So it's obviously my turn to Throw Down Some Shit. I'll do a mix of things that I've read and am reading as well as WIPs and finished stuff.

OK so I probably don't have to tell you, but @pacific-rimbaud's Dramione multi-chap Love and Other Historical Accidents just wrapped and lord is it wonderful. Regency settings mixed with modern sensibilities, deeply funny, even more deeply romantic and with some truly memorable original characters. And of course the writing in unparalleled. Run, don't walk, to read it if you haven't already!

There are a few authors on this list where I want to throw their entire oeuvre at you and just walk away (I will do that with one, down the list) and @roseharpermaxwell is one of them. She writes mostly shorter stuff, mostly as gifts for others, which I find so endearing. And she's just an incredible writer. A mix of sweetness and pure, hot smut that I think no one does better. Her story Lead Me Straight Back Home is the one i'm going to post here because it's a holiday fic and so appropriate to read RIGHT NOW, but you can't go wrong with any of her things. Binge them like chocolates.

Everyone seems to be talking about the WIP Draco Malfoy and the Mortifying Ordeal of Being in Love and let me tell you, it's for Very Good Reason. I wandered over to check what all the fuss was about and got sucked right in to delicious dialogue, extremely entertaining characterizations, moments of actually laughing out loud and really touching slow burn romance. Oh and gorgeous settings AND judicious smatterings of truly beautiful writing. I can't recommend it enough and wait with bated breath for the next chapter. If the author is out there on tumblr and sees this, pls DM me. I'm the person who wrote the P&P Dramione and I want to be your friend.

I said there were authors for whom I want to just Recommend Everything and call it good. And @provocative-envy is the queen of this for me. Every single story she does is magic. She will make you ship rare pairs you never even imagined. She will make you ship things you never wanted to ship! I can go Russian Roulette through her body of work at 4am when I can't sleep and be guaranteed to find something absolutely riveting. So, please, sample it all. But since this is a Dramione post, here is a link to her classic for that pair, Bite Marks.

Another story I started reading this year and then went off to yell at people about is Hide Your Fire by @diana-skye. It's a HBP re-do with a strong Theo (Theo/Neville side pairing--swoon) a re-sorting and absolutely fantastic writing. It just wrapped and is complete at 100k+ and 30 chapters, so it's perfect to dive into over the next couple of weeks of winter break. I will be doing the same!

A writer whom I know more from OC, tomione and wonderfully worded tumblr posts (her advice for a person just starting out in life legitimately made me cry) is @cocoartistwrites. She has a Dramione WIP, Familiarity Breeds Contempt, that is absolutely tops on my TBR list. Her writing is spare and strong and Has Personality, and I am very excited to dig in to this WIP.

I had the very great pleasure of beta'ing a story this year, Atonement by @lunamionny, which is an absolute must-read. It's 8th year that truly explores the psychological trauma the wizarding war would have visited on our favorite characters. Lunamionny is a professional in this field and it shows, because she writes so beautifully and realistically about working through that trauma and coming out on the other side. It was such a pleasure for me to be involved in this project and I can't recommend it enough!

Finally, if you'd like a quick palette cleanser of ludicrously enjoyable humor, my great friend and beta, @grangerdangerfics wrote a couple of one-shots this year that should not be missed. Malfoy Family Endowments is, as she calls it, "a 1.5k word dick joke," and Dramoine; OR, Drack Malofy, Second-Rate Detective, is a crack fic based on a typo that will have your sides splitting. Thank you for gracing the fandom with these smol gems, M.

AND if you exhaust this list and want EVEN MOAR @theshadylaine maintains a collection on AO3 called Peak!Dramione of, "stories that feature Peak!Draco and Peak!Hermione as their best selves, showcasing their intelligence, wit, character, and compatibility." It's a great list -- currently 118 works long -- and she adds to it regularly. You'll find a lot of excellent stories and authors on it that I didn't have room to mention.

I actually was looking forward to the rant, I like how you break things apart so they make sense in a very unique way.( I don't have any strong feelings to the pairing if that was your concern, I just think the stories about them have the potential to be fantastic because I enjoy intelligent characters going through life and solving problems and, usually, in fanfiction there's focus on only one smart character.

So, you people are just poking me with sticks to see what ridiculous opinions spew out then. I’m onto your game.

With that said, let’s get to answering then, and know that you bring this upon yourself.

I loathe Tomione. I put up with it, sometimes, because I will read almost any fic featuring Tom Riddle as a main character. (Want the Carnivorous Muffin to read your fic? Tom Riddle as a main character. Even if I disagree with 110% of your premise I will probably still read your story.)

However, it’s extremely telling that my recs the other day were hilariously small, and one was actually Hermione/Loki. The Tomione exists, I just hate it.

This is for two main reasons. First, I just don’t believe the ship would ever work under any circumstances and the pair are naturally doomed to loathe one another. Second, fanfiction has a collection of tropes associated with Tomione that are in unbearable (likely caused unconsciously by the first, Tomione doesn’t really work, so we do terrible things to make it work). 

Tomione Doesn’t Work: Change My Mind

So, remember we’re living in Muffin-land for this. I’ve explained some of my headcanons regarding these characters, and I’ll offer brief explanation for why I think what I do here, but I’m not going to expand on it too much.

Tomione has appeal under the premise that either you or someone else previously mentioned: they’re both so smart, of course they belong together.

The trouble, Hermione’s not nearly as smart as she thinks she is. What we see of Hermione’s cleverness boils down to having a very good work ethic and reading a lot of books. She tends to outsmart Ron and Harry because she actually puts in the work to do her homework and, my god, read her text books. Also, as I’ve covered before, Harry’s an idiot, so that’s a low bar.

Because Hogwarts can be passed by the likes of Crabbe and Goyle, and the curriculum seems to boil down to “pronounce this fake Latin correctly, ooh look, a spell”, actually reading her books not only gets Hermione by but skyrockets her ahead of her peers. Who, apparently, have no ear at all and don’t understand the swishy motions are important and probably never bothered to read their books.

This isn’t to say she’s stupid, she’s by far one of the more intelligent characters in the series, but it says a lot of not so good things about Hogwarts that Hermione is the “brightest witch of her generation”. In my mind she has never compared to characters like Tom Riddle, Lily Evans, Severus Snape, or Albus Dumbledore.

Hermione never questions how magic exists, why wands work, or why pronunciation is so weirdly important and why we’re using spells that are gibberish Latin instead of English or simply Latin. She never takes that step outside the box I would expect a truly intelligent person to take.

An example, Hermione completely throws out the entire discipline of divination. This is part because she believes it’s stupid, but she also only spends about two seconds thinking about it, and she doesn’t appear to be any good at it. If Hermione’s not good at it then it must be a stupid subject for stupid people.

Now, that alone doesn’t doom her, but it does put a huge chink in the major appeal of Tomione: they’re both just so brilliant that they’d be great together.

What dooms them is that Hermione both a) thinks she is as brilliant as all these other people and b) has this pervasive need to be the smartest person in any room she walks into. Hermione comes across Tom Riddle in the past or just chills with Voldemort in the future, she will inevitably try to show him up. This isn’t just to assure us that good is better than evil, but because she can’t help herself, because being the smartest is how she defines herself.

As a result, especially if we’re in the time travel/school setting, she would inevitably get in competition with him to prove she’s so much better/smarter than he is. It would undoubtedly be on her terms, probably revolving around school work, and she’d throw a fit when Tom wins because he understands the value in being concise where Hermione would quite easily write a hundred page Potions’ essay (that had a five page limit) with the subtext “PRAISE ME” written on every page.

I can’t imagine Tom Riddle would find this anything but completely obnoxious and a waste of his time.

Now, part of this goes into headcanon land, but I have always imagined, 100%, that Tom Riddle in Hogwarts was treated like a muggleborn, that he didn’t find out his ancestry until at least part of the way through, and he never confessed to being the Heir of Slytherin. I can back this up, but that’s another story for another day, I’ll just say that no matter what Dumbledore says any other backdrop makes no damn sense.

So, Tom has clawed the respect of his peers into reality with bleeding hands, he came from nothing in a way that even the ‘good’ purebloods wouldn’t have sympathy for. Even the muggleborns I imagine thought they were better than him. Tom is an impoverished orphan, so poor he has to stay at Hogwarts over the holidays, he was not having a fun time at school.

Tom has ambitions, is mired in hatred, and is not really all that wrapped up in Hogwarts except to get him where he wants to go.

Now, imagine Hermione suddenly shows up in front of this Tom. Suddenly he’s being challenged to essay competitions, she probably leaves cryptic remarks all the time about how evil he is and how amazing she is because she’s not evil and smarter than he is, and if he thinks he’s smarter than her then he better find time to prove it.

It’s like talking to a Dumbledore he can never escape from.

Tom doesn’t have time for this bullshit.

Tomione not only insists that he does but that he lives for this bullshit. Forget Voldemort, Hermione making weird comments about how Tom has a mutilated soul, or that Dumbledore is so much cooler than he is, is where it’s at. 

As for Hermione, ultimately, I don’t think she’d ever really be attracted to Tom Riddle because he’s too much competition. The guys we’ve seen Hermione with are all safely much dumber than she is, Hermione likes being in relationships with men she feels in some way better than. Tom Riddle is not that guy. 

Add on top of this that Hermione’s righteousness would never allow her to even think about dating someone like Tom and we get her, at best, trying for the sake of destroying him (if she seduces Tom then she destroys Voldemort!) but ultimately failing.

Because the thing is, circling back to where we started, there are different kinds of intelligence, different levels of intelligence, and intelligence alone isn’t a reason to get along. Smart people might gravitate towards smart people, but they still have to have compatible personalities. Reading books isn’t magical glue that can bind people together.

No matter what way I look at it, Hermione and Tom would absolutely loathe one another in every capacity. 

Hermione ends up back in time accidentally and goes to Tom with Hogwarts: utter loathing.

Hermione ends up back in time on purpose and tries to save Tom’s troubled soul or else murder the shit out of him: utter loathing with an extra dash of “what the fuck?!” on Tom’s end.

Hermione ends up back in time after Hogwarts when Tom’s a store clerk: utter loathing (Hermione walks into Tom’s shop to tell him how cool and interesting she is to enter into the typical Tomione mind games, all Tom wants is commission.)

Hermione enters into deals with devils with the horcruxes: utter loathing complete with Tom’s triumphant/Nelson laugh when he inevitably betrays her to get his own body.

A young Tom Riddle somehow winds up in the future and is forced to attend Hogwarts because Dumbledore does what he wants: utter loathing (Tom has to sit there and enjoy Harry and especially Hermione telling him how evil he is and how Hermione’s so much smarter than him because she’s muggleborn and reads books.)

Lord Voldemort takes Hermione hostage during the horcrux hunt: utter loathing (though this would be sadly less irritating to Tom than the others, I imagine, if only because Hermione would probably be more terrified and less righteous. But she’d hate him with the fire of a thousand suns and inevitably pull a horrific revenge scheme on either him or his Death Eaters. No one crosses Hermione. No one.)

You name it, I think it’s going to end with the pair hurling chairs at each other and just being completely and utterly uninterested in every capacity. 

Now, onto how Tomione is typically written, which just makes it so much worse.

Tomione Fics Breed Awful: Change My Mind

Tomione, to me, is born from a few things. It’s born from the author’s desire to have an intelligent, female, borderline SI lead and to shove her together with another edgy smart person with some degree of a bad boy persona.

In this way Tomione fics are very similar to Snape/Hermione fics, are similar to Lokane from Thor/Avengers, are similar to Zutara back in the earlier seasons of Avatar the Last Airbender, etc. 

As a result the fics almost invariably spiral into: “Hermione is so smart, she’s so much smarter than everyone else, she impresses Tom because she is so smart. Tom is so smart but so evil, he sexy growls at her, and confesses how much he hates love every other chapter.” 

Only, as I noted above, while there are many interpretations of Tom’s character (and mine certainly doesn’t agree with the vast majority) I can’t help but think every single version would hate her.

To make him not hate her the author will often turn him into one of two Tom Riddles: Emotionally Deficient Robot Tom or Growling Sexy Sociopath Tom. Emotionally Deficient Robot Tom will often have paragraph long tangents to remind us he doesn’t compute your human emotions, “Beep boop” but despite this Hermione’s out of control hair makes him feel urges “bloop bloop”. Growling sexy sociopath Tom usually goes on a rant about how love is beneath him, backs Hermione into broom closets, and growls as he sexily makes out with her in a non-romantic manner because “ew love”. 

In other words, Tom is made an unbelievably flat character. He becomes a base archetype of sexy villain character. He never really gets redeemed, even if the story insists he does, he usually doesn’t have a reason for the way he is (”um, love potions!” the author often cries), and he and Hermione always think they’re much more important than they are.

The story rarely, if ever, goes anywhere because the entire point of the story is mind games between two sixteen-year-olds who think they’re smarter than everyone else. So we get a lot of chapters of Hermione and Tom running around, being very clever to each other, but doing nothing.

Sometimes authors do deviate from this, we will have an actual plot where we’re not just in Hogwarts again or it’s not just centering on ridiculous mind games. However, even then, Tom is usually is some variant of a very flat cartoon villain while Hermione is... Well, one would think the way she’s described that she’s the smartest, best, most beautiful, most brilliant thing to ever grace this earth.

Tomione is not my jam.

top 3 fanfic scenes: one that makes you laugh, one to cry on and one that scared you

hey nonnie! oooh what a good question this made me think…. any fanfics or just tomione? nvm I’ll do both!

Laugh: Most chapters of Commentarius by BeeDaily it’s a James/Lily fanfic and was the first fanfic I ever read and it’s hilarious and gut-wrenching. For Tomione Youth in Retrospect by @provocative-envy (who mostly writes rare pairs now and I’m rooting for her to eventually write a Ginny/Pansy fic) is so incredibly charming and the karaoke scene makes me giggle so much! I love my ridiculous boy Abraxas in this!

Cry: We Were the Potters by celestine_fics a fantastic, post-war look into the wizarding world and Harry’s life. This is actually heartbreaking and delves into an often overlooked part of the wizarding world: squibs. In tomione when they finally kiss in Somewhere in Time by @serpentinred? that made me cry! 

Scared me: oh nonnie, I’m very easily scared and I still can’t read Murky Waters by Nekositting at night. Actually I’ve been too scared to reread it, because I was so afraid the first time so I’m doomed to be forever confused about what was actually going on @katsitting The one scene where she’s alone in her office…..but maybe….. not alone? god, i think that’s given me a lasting fear of empty office rooms.

Hey I’m new to tomione and I was wondering if u could recommend some of your favourite fics to me! btw I love ur moodboards!

And for my favourite fics well... If u were to go and look at my fanfiction account you would realise that I have favourited around 150 stories so...i can't recommend all my fav to you, unfortunately. But u can go look at my account sometomioneshit to see all my favs.

But from the top of my head, I would recommend first reading,

Pygmalion by @colubrina This was the first ever tomione fic I read and well it got me hooked. It's a great starter fic and I really liked the way they characterised Tom. So go check it out. And all their other work as well.

Unsphere the stars by @cocoartistwrites this again is an amazing fic, it's amazingly written out and has some interesting plot points. They also made Hermione a really good read.

The diary by @littlemulattokitten even though it isn't finished you can tell that this is going to be a fantastic story once it is, I love Hermione and tom so much in this. Also, older tom is everything...just saying.

Murderer's maze by @ibuzoo this is an absolutely breathtakingly good story and the actual plot is amazing. The author has amazing skills, so go read this...like right now...you will not regret it. Plus again Tom in this is great.

Fostering a Nightmare by @ninjafairy86 this isn't finished but...its so worth reading. She captures the dynamics between tom and Hermione perfectly and well who doesn't want to read a bit of hate/jealous/angry makeup sex?? Also, the whole plot is great. Check out their other fics!!

Granger's Anatomy by @weestarmeggie17 I love this story so much all the whole doctor concept. They have done an amazing characterisation of Hermione. And u should also check out all their other work its great.

Persephone by @dulce-de-leche-go if u like dark fics and don't mind a bit of Hermione/voldy then u should read this. It's amazing and the whole plot is mind gripping, go check it out.

Linen Rope by @brightki this was the fic that got me hooked on my fav tom- professor tom- and u will understand why if u read it. I really love this fic and tom in it so good read!

Ain't No Rest For The Wicked by @nauticalparamour gangs! violence, bad guys, and chemistry? Why wouldn't someone want to read this fic, it's bloody amazing and I live for it. I also think the secondary characters were written perfectly!

Youth in Retrospect by @provocative-envy I know this was supposed to be a one-shot short fic thing but this fic is too good not to put on this list, and the actual plot is great. I love it so much! And Tom!!!

The Art of Secrecy by @mrsren96 I love the actual story so much and again...professor tom...yes, please!!! it's also kinda funny!

School Days by @meowmerson let's just say little tom and Hermione have my heart. Like they are so cute and awww. But seriously, this is a really good fic and u should read it and the rest of there work.

To both Defy and Define Darkness by @shadowedcries we love a sociopathic tom behind bars exchanging steamy looks with Hermione as well as lovely murders. This fic has it all and I'm in love with it, so go read it.

The Prisoner by @nerysdax I love this fic so much and manipulative tom so much. This is an amazing fic and u should go check it out! It's bomb!!

Madam Umbridge Home for Wayward Girls by @alovelyvillain this may be one of my new favourite fics!!! I love this story so much and it's confusing love triangle!! The whole plot is fantastic and mind-boggling and I'm just gonna say that I love tom in this but also Blaise and Parvati's little thing as well.

Also read fics from @quitethesardonic, @aconitumluparia, speechwriter, @katsitting and basically any tomione writers!!

There are plenty more fics and authors that I want to recommend but this is long enough already!! So like I said if u want more fics just look at my fanfic faves bit or u could also ask some of the other authors on Tumblr as well!!!
