#fanon...but also baby sauron in rop

“...Arrayed in purple and scarlet colour, and decked with gold and precious stones…”.
That's the typical Mairon (in fanart).
But also no, not really, this is the biblical quote of wh\ore of Babylon aka the scarlet woman. And the quote continues: “…having in her hand a golden cup full of abominations and the filthiness of her fornication...…drunken with the blood of the saints, and with the blood of the martyrs …and when I saw her, I wondered with great ADMIRATION.” (Revelation 17:4-6 KJV)
...Now quote Wikipedia on "Wh[o]re of Babylon"
-"Mystery, Babylon the Great, the Mother of Harlots and Abominations of the Earth"
-"She is further ...a representation of "the great city which reigneth over the kings of the earth"
-"Many Biblical scholars believe that "Babylon" is a metaphor for the pagan Roman Empire at the time it persecuted Christians" (I put it here because RoP baby Sauron's costume has some heavy Roman influence. But I'm 100% reading too much into it)
A symbol of corruption and immorality, …idolatry, and the fall of cities, and societal decadence. Sounds rather familiar too huh?
TLDR: Mairon needs to keep dress in Red and be covered in jewery ✨. I'm totally going to give him a new nickname "the scarlet one" from now on :33 the more I think about it, the more I like this idea and the fandom & rop costumes. XD
-----
In the Thelema/Aleister Crowley version of Scarlet woman/Babalon, things are even more saucy.
Quote: "Beautiful art thou, O Babylon, and desirable, for thou hast given thyself... and thy weakness hath subdued their strength."
Quote: "[she is the] consort of Chaos… thereby assuming the title of "Master of the Temple"… (and she is) often referred to as a sacred wh[o]re."
Plus all the ritual s*x thing there
also, in John Dee's Enochian magic, BABALON means wicked.
(Oh so sl*ty and wicked ofc)
#warning: NOT A SERIOUS ANALYSIS#just my head running into a rabbit hole#mairon#sauron#fanon...but also baby sauron in rop#He needs to keep wearing red#trop#somewhat#but also its a large portion of fandom tradition to depicting him wearing red#and covered in jewelry#and since we love calling him a wh*re :3#Biblical#occult#silmarillion#somewhat akallabeth#notes#notes2

okay choose violence GO! 6,7 ,11, 14, and 22!!
6. which ship fans are the most annoying?
Edit: The Galadriel/Sauron rop contingent
7. what character did you begin to hate not because of canon but because how how the fandom acts about them?
Erestor, he's not interesting to me in canon and he's even less interesting to me as this fanon hyper-Feanorian even in the third age who's also the secret baby of a ship that i'm really not a fan of
11. number of fandom-related words you've filtered
so many i aint counting all of that
14. that one thing you see in fics all the time
Aredhel saying that all the suffering and trauma she went through in her violent marriage was worth it because it brought her Maeglin. It's not inconceivable that she'd think that, but also give me an Aredhel who never planned on being a mother and doesn't think it was all worth it.
22. your favorite part of canon that everyone else ignores
That gorgeous passage about Elwing "soaring in joy, rose stained in the dawn" to greet Vingilote each day. Most likely they're not seperated forever ala Bilbo's poem, and there's no evidence they split up.

3, 8, 15 and 27 c:
Hi friend! Thank you for taking the time to ask!
3. What’s your favorite fic that you’ve written?
I haven't written all that many, but to prevent Scars from stomping the others (it's the longfic and my BABY), I'll pick one of the one-shots too. For that, I think "Until the Stars Burn Out," which was inspired by the fic of a friend. I tried to match styles and it was a little outside my comfort zone. I'm very proud of how it turned out.
8. What project(s) are you currently working on?
A longfic called "Scars of Silver and Gold", which is almost half done now. A Galadriel/Melian one-shot. A "Finrod's last moments" one-shot, that might not ever see the light of day, tbh, because it's starting to feel more like the climax of a longfic and I Don't Have Time for that. A fic of drabble-length conversations between Melkor and Mandos during the former's long imprisonment. And a one-shot about Nerdanel in the wake of the First Kinslaying. Those are the fics that currently have words written for them. I've started outlining two longer pieces (A Gothic Romance AU Adar/OC and another non-Adar centric RoP fic, that I've been calling the Oathbreaker King AU - what if Halbrand was the ghost king from RotK instead of Sauron?, think shifting narrator chapter to chapter, telling the story until the Last Alliance)
15. How do you come up with titles for your fics/chapters?
Uhhh. For Scars, I spent a long time thinking about the themes that I wanted the fic to have. About how even with restoration, you can still see the marks left by the past. And I remembered that in Japan, they sometimes put broken ceramics back together with silver or gold in an artform called "kintsugi." So that's why Scars of Silver and Gold is called that. For one-shots or chapters, I don't take nearly as long. I just kind of sit quietly and think about the things that stand out to me about the chapter for about 15 minutes before I post it. Very rarely do I use more than a few words or take longer than that.
27. Is there a fic you were nervous to post/share? Why?
Maybe the first time I posted anything spicy? But I also specifically made this account to be spicy and secret from IRL people. So ... I mean, what's the worst that was going to happen, lol. I think in the future, if I venture into Silm fic, I'm going to be very nervous about some things. Most of my headcanons are pretty different from popular fanon, so ... [concerns]
Ask game here.
