You are so good at building romantic tension that several of those moments immediately come to mind: the goodbye hug/scarecrow conversation and almost kisses from All I Ask, the moment where they're dancing in the kitchen in A Matter of Time and she starts to realize she might have feelings for him, the accidental kiss and mutual frozen stare (and the kisses thereafter) in Getting Carried Away, the way he's got her against the wall and she hears his nails rake through the plaster in A Hold of Me...I could go on XD

heya, I drew a reference sheet type thing on my art account based on a little thing I read that you wrote about Dryad Leo and I thought I'd let you know because now I'm literally about to write a fanfic on dryad Leo the brainrot is real lol. I’ve always headcanoned Leo and the Valdez family to be a little dryad-ish (specifically since we never know about who Sammy Valdez dates post Hazel, I like to think he found one of the og dryads (specifically Pomegranate) and had a few kids with her before she moved on and whatnot since pomegranates thrive in desert like conditions such as Texas and southern Utah)

I will say that for the au you’re mentioning, Leo isn’t quite a dryad, but due to his godly parent and the circumstances around her own upbringing, he’s got a lot more of those dryad traits than a normal demigod would have. Definitely got a few all dryad Leo wips sitting around somewhere since I have about 60/70 active pjo aus in my private discord server T^T

But yell heah! Go write dryad Leo! I’d love to see more if you do- it’s such a fun concept and your art is so crunchy:D

The multiple miki thing might be because Miki could've been based on Charizard M and that thing is known for cloning itself.

Tbh i cant fault shadowmalerenamon for completely changing doors open when rewriting it. Having missingno be the main antagonist was miles better than how Steve was in the original.

- is a lot less character-focused, at least on steven specifically, and is focused on explaining or rewriting shit that never needed to be explained or rewritten. it is a revisit and reinterpretation of the story, that to me, is just purely kind of . Not good or fun to read. and the new shit it introduces is fucking stupid imo. steven being banished by the town instead of... fucking. killing himself ( especially specifically by cop. that's lame and way more boring + FUCK THE POLICE !!! + It feels out of character for steven he would just do it himself like actually. Also yk. hanging yourself is narratively thematic and ironic. ) or whatever goes so much harder .

guy who loves his town and home region and wanting to be a role model and wanting to be cool so badly being driven mad and then the entirety of kanto, his homeland, forsaking him and walling him off goes crazy . Also because it implies they're scared of him to some degree which also makes me go crazy as an implication.

i Will not step down from 'the rewrites arent good' . Doors open is mostly bad because stevens characterization is garbage. even though its random and from left field ( why the fuck is he in sprout tower ) it couldve been handled well if it was written better characterization-wise.

also i supposed the 'M charizard makes sense. not. not really i don't actually think smr thought that through. if he did, which he couldve because she is named #'M# in Strangled Red, cool, but i still think it's just to make the "miki" name thing with 4 party members he has. which is cool admittedly. it's just that i hope it is never explained why he has 4. and it never has since, doors open rewrite didnt do anything with that thank god.

and bc he wouldnt have any other mon other than miki post-incident and afaik that thing only replaces existing partymembers, and steven canonically releases all his team in SR + pokemon avoid him. but yea. Doors open i treat as a 'spinoff' in a sense bc nothing from it really makes sense when properly thought through, and its basically there to make the lost silver crossover i feel. also, yk, he literally says "Never." in strangled red when you press switch on 'M / missingno/revived/whatever you want to call miki post revival. its kind of out of character for canon-compliant steven to have anything other than miki post-incident for these 3 reasons - i only made a team for him post incident bc im autistic about pokemon and pokemon teams so that was for fun.

basically it makes more plotholes and questions than not the more strangled reds plot stuff tries to be explained or added upon esp in the remakes which i think are not fun reads if you like steven as a character anyways. and also bc strangled and doors open in the ogs are easter eggs. trying to explain what is supposed to be an in universe easter egg in pokemon would obviously be kind of a lesson in futility. not. not exactly but at least in the way smr does it.

strangled makes sense, you just go to his fucking house and hes there. yea. doors open is like. Yea hes in johto now. dont ask. but its also easily explainable as... He just fucked off to johto. For what reason? idk. hates kanto bc theyve forsaken him and banished him to the Woods, just wanted fresh air i guess, or just for fun. these are all more plausible reasons.

iirc the rewrite doesnt even say why hes there and if it does the reason is convoluted and not needed. i think its just 'hes a ghost hallucination... thing??? following the mc which is the most boring route to go for with steven and the most uninspired thing ever, and missingno was not the antagonist just a plot device in the og story Why are we focusing on it so much.' and its still a plot device in the rewrites! it isnt explained ( good the explanation would be kind of awful ) and i cant see any good way to explain missingno other than the way i do as a fun idea. which is biased but the 'failed clone of mew number 3' is a fun idea.

this is an insane ramble from a deranged person. if you can't tell i fucking love steven as a character and smr does him dirty except in strangled red, really. strangled... is fine but bc he barely talks in that one and when he does its like. yea. that checks out.

Papa Edmont's grief as depicted in game was one of the things that broke me the most about the Heavensward experience, so I'm so glad I have such a lovely OC to set on him, Ishgardian etiquette be damned.

And I'm finally playing Aurelle through Shadowbringers for the first time at the moment actually, and am having so many story thoughts in that regard >:) Got my increasing pile of half-formed WIPs there as well, most recent experimentations of which were trying to figure out Emet-Selch's voice and what interactions between him and my girl might look like.

T'nali is going to make such a mess in Tural, and is very excited to sink her teeth into somewhere new. And already being a tone deaf bard, a red mage who couldn't care less about balance, and a sage that hates healing, I think it's only right that we add pictomancer that can't draw for shit onto her list of achievements XD

And Tesalya does so love to keep finding new ways to break herself beyond repair... I really will need to start hurting everyone else with how that farce ended up soon.

any updates or new requests you’re working on?

Hi! Just so you know, the way WIP Wednesday works is you'll go to my post and request one of the file names I included (one of them IS "Drabble Reqs") and then I'd write and post three new sentences from that WIP :) it's not a way to get like, a general update.

Also,, idk if you're genuinely just curious about what I'm working on, or if you have a pending request and you're trying to rush for an update, so I'll try to answer in good faith.

I am currently working on two very cute prompts, one for Ballister throwing Nimona a birthday party (adorable) and a C! Goldenheart healing drabble (adorableeee also thank you to the anon who clarified your request 🩷)

If you happen to be the person with the Clown request, as I have a feeling you are based on timelines (if you're not I'm so sorry lol) it's not happening. That request was giving fetish, it made me uncomfortable. Atp even if it's not a fetish I don't want to do it and I don't think it's unfair for me to say no to a story I don't want to write.

In general, I don't mind people being curious about what might be coming out and if you make that clear I won't mind answering! But please don't send update/status requests. This is like the fourth I've gotten if that's what this was. A big part of my Actual Real Job is dealing with clients who constantly want updates and statuses on their order and it ranges from friendly requests to insults and degradation asking what takes so long, and it's stressful in any case, so maybe that's causing me to be more miffed by this than the average person, but like. Some people back in fall waited MONTHS for their request to be filled and none of them pestered me about it (I appreciate their patience and hope they liked the stories I wrote them). Some got deleted and I never heard a thing about them again because the askers respected my choice not to do it and I appreciate them too.

I like doing these requests, it's fun, but I am not a content farm and I'm not paid to do this. I don't like feeling like someone is breathing down my neck waiting on these things. You know. Like how I feel at WORK.

Anyway if I keep getting status requests OR if I hear anything more about the CLOWNIFICATION ASK I'm gonna be turning anons off which I don't wanna do because some people aren't comfortable asking from their account and I don't wanna exclude them. If you're just curious about what's coming out and you DON'T have a pending request you're trying to rush me on, just make that clear and it's totally fine. Della. Your love of her character absolutely shows in how you write her. She’s hilarious, snarky, and caring at the same time. She’s an absolute ball to read when you write her.

Jane. In the grand scheme of things, she’s a relatively minor character, but at the same time, she has such an interesting relationship with both Louie and Webby. And she’s so relatable, in that she’s just a regular Joe, trying to get by by working at a children’s entertainment center. And just how you write her in general is so interesting!

3. Thank you! Della is always a blast to write for! Even when her role is smaller in an overall story I still like to think she makes a big impression. Especially when I not so subtlety let the reader know, “Yeah. Della is in this story!” like in this one where Della was basically given the role of “supportive soccer mom”

If I have an excuse to include Della in a story I will. If she has no story purpose reason to be in a story, I’ll probably just have a character mention her

And I’m glad I know at least one person out there enjoys how I capture! I remember early on when I started I writing I had a worry that my readers would get sick of me writing stuff around Della Duck and so far no complaints!

6. Oh my god! Thanks! I had a lot of fun writing that but I wasn’t sure if people would think it was as funny as I thought it was or they thought I was a messed up individual for writing this kid eating not one, but TWO pot brownies that a family member gave him. (Granted, neither knew they were related to one another but, still)

But at the same time…how could I NOT do a story about Dewey getting high during the events of Timephoon!?!

Timephoon! fics are always so fixated on that one scene when other characters were going through some stuff in that episode too. Well everybody but Dewey and Webby! They were having a fun play date with Bubba and got to eat chili dogs! And then they fought pirates! And went back in time to the 1960s and dressed up like hippies! Talk about a fun day!

I remember when I was writing it I was back and forth with whether or not I wanted Webby to eat a brownie. Glad I didn’t, I have something far more sinister planned for her in the next story which I had planned long before I even wrote Dewey eating that pot brownie

Also. Matilda definitely made edibles and was a hippie during the 60s.

10. Oh Jane, I’m gonna do whatever I can to make more people in the fandom realize you’re great! Because she is! So far I think I only have her in two of my stories. Indi-Quack!’s F.O.W.L Play! where she vents to Gandra about her job (because she deserves to, damn it!) and Up, Up, and Away! where she is on the clock and getting paid time and half to be in the Funso’s ad

I just think she’s the type of person that would be on the good side of everyone in McDuck Family. Besides Louie and Webby, I like to think she’s chill with all the kids.

Also I’m sure Jane has stories about working with Magica that she could share with Lena

I don’t have a whole lot of other stuff planned for Jane. She has a small role in my Iron Duck of Steel story and will definitely appear throughout the story (such acting as sort of a bartender to two characters later on in the story when they’re at a low point in their lives)

And I do have another idea for a story that will take place at Funso’s that I really wanna do. Basically as a way to combat the public finding out about FOWL operating underneath them, Funso’s starts doing adult nights where it basically becomes a Dave and Buster’s because alcohol makes arcades sooooo much better

Ooooh, that's a hard one. You've written all fantastic ones. I thiiink I'm going to have to give the edge to 'New Yolk, New Yolk' because of the addition of Gyro. I enjoyed the character development you gave him, and that even tho sight-seeing wasn't really his thing, he made an effort to tolerate it for the sake of the kids (especially his son) and he even found *some* things he even openly admitted he kind of appreciated instead of complaining. And I really enjoyed the way you wrote Gandra and Fenton; you captured their interaction perfectly, including Gandra's teasing snark.

The best character you've written for

That would be Violet. You capture her personality so well in your writing, including her manner of speech and interactions with other characters. I can always hear her voice so clearly in my head. And you bring out an extra touch of nd-coding that's even more prevalent than in the show.

Gonna take me a little while to get into the swing of this. I've never done an askblog like this before (though I have hosted... technically 3 in the past? (EDIT: no, 4 actually.) But never like this, and none of them went anywhere), so trying to get into the swing of it has been weird.

Glad people seem to be enjoying it, though! I had no idea it'd take off like this, aha. Hopefully I can get a bit more consistent and stop uploading at 2 AM, lol.

That said, I don't know what my schedule's gonna be (if I even start one). So if there's a couple days where I don't upload, it's not because I abandoned the AU or anything, it's probably just because I'm busy IRL.

This has been really fun so far, and I hope everyone's having fun, too! Just bear with me while I figure this out. But that's never stopped me before and it won't now. Like I said, this has been fun so far!

heart & home exists because I had a few little ideas that weren't enough on their own to be an entire fic and somehow that turned into writing 52 snippets of their first year living together. I tried so hard to make every scene 200 words or less but didn't quite manage it! I think I did keep them all under 250 in the end though. It's probably one of the few times I didn't write a fic in chronological order. Some of the snippets were written in order but others I wrote and then spent quite some time moving them around to make sure they fit the seasons and the timeline I was building.

Regarding the comments post: Why don't you say in your fanfiction - in the Author's Notes maybe - that you don't want to work on your writing and don't want constructive or nitpicking advice, no matter how well meant? A lot of people want that kind of advice, and it's sort of implied that you're open to it if you post in an amateur's forum with an open comment function. If you don't want it, maybe tell people!

If someone wants you to critique their work, they will say that exactly. Get out of here with this you were asking for it by posting argument. Surely you can see how that's victim blaming, right? That sharing art is not consent, right? RIGHT?

The onus is not on creators to put a special note on everything they make to remind people to not be rude. Like... do you understand how utterly ridiculous this argument you are making is? "I cannot be expected to be kind unless I get a personal reminder every single time not to make mean comments, sorryyyy!" Seriously? You're going with that?

A fic I haven't read yet from you, but I want to: definitely should read the other fics in Legacy which aren't Monarch. you do an amazing exploration of all the different aspects of atla that we don't see in the canon series, Monarch being a prime example of one such fic. i really feel like i need to delve more into those relationships and characters like Kuzon and Bumi. in a similar vein, i should probably also read Fire in the Night.

11. Something I wish/hope you write: Azula court intrigue fic, coupled with her descent into insanity. i know you've been thinking of an Azula fic, but i'm not sure if it's exactly like this. either way, i'm looking forward to seeing it come to life 😌

5. Oh I'd be excited for you to read more Legacy things! I think overall, I've had the most consistent fun filling in those kinds of gaps in the ATLA storyline than any other fanfic series I've written, and as you can see I have a particular soft spot for Kuzon. I think his potential is absolutely fascinating.

11. Yes, so for various reasons I had to put the Azula fic on hold. However, I can say that this long oneshot is about 3k in. Court intrigue is involved, but a younger Azula is in the center of pulling a lot of strings on the fringe, but not necessarily because she's the mastermind, and more because she has an interest she wants to fulfill.

I don't know if this fic that you're speaking of is exactly what you're looking for, but it is an AU in which Azula becomes obsessed with Zuko in a way that creates this incredibly manipulative environment on steroids. It's a "what if" scenario, as in "What if Azula noticed that the royal family was actually insane and that the only one who really might have had her back in some small way was Zuko?" Now, this is a stretch in canon, but maybe not so much so. In very brief moments, Zuko and Azula have been shown to care for each other in canon, and actually had some sort of playful sibling relationship at some point before things went south, namely when Azula latched onto their parents' machinations far more than her brother did. This is basically taking that canon manipulative Azula, but making her latch onto something else.

I can't tell you exactly when that fic will come out, but it will come out. I'm too deep.

Hands down, Two Halves of the Same Whole. I love all your fics that I've read, but this one has a huge special place in my heart for their journey together.

I love that in your stories with a diverse cast of characters, you write each voice so unique and perfectly in character. I can hear their voices in my head when I read them the way you write them, I can visualize their expressions, their moods. You put me *there* in the fics with them, and I can lose myself in the world you create.

Logan/Peter Maximoff. I never would've even considered them as a ship until you joined our bingo and wrote about them, and now I love them. At least, in your hands, I love them.
