My moms #fanakofte is all done and ready to accompany her on hikes and city walks. ☺️ So excited to wrap this up and put it under the tree! anway here's my eskel sweater fancast (definitely not reinforcing this projection idea because if it should turn out that i have the same one in forest green and have stated a wish to be buried in it, that's pure coincidence. but it's a traditional fishermens pattern and made of pure rough wool and incredibly durable.)

Can we take a second to talk about the magic of wool? This #fanakofte was knitted over 60 years ago, and has been worn by my grandmother, my uncle and myself, and it looks as if it was made yesterday. This is why I love knitting! I love thinking about how knitting was first discovered, and the craft being passed down through generations. I love thinking about every single stitch being knitted, and turned into a creation, a memory and an heirloom. As a child my great grandmother would knit a pair of socks for each and every one of her grandkids for Christmas. She would stuff a small candy bar in one of the socks, and this tradition continued until she passed away when I was a teenager. To this day I’m left with one single sock of hers, but years worth of memories that I’ll never forget. These memories also inspired me to learn myself, and for almost 10 years now, I have knitted socks for my dad every single Christmas, something that he adores. 🖤 I’d love to hear your knitting story!
