There are many questions regarding cremations and we hope to answer them here. If you have a question we don't answer, please feel free to give us a call, email us, or come visit with us.

Many people think you cannot have a service if you are cremated and this is not true. The following is an explanation of different cremation options.

Direct Cremation for $850.00

What does that mean…..

Direction Cremation is when you are cremated with no viewing, no visitation, and no funeral service beforehand. At the time of death we will pickup the body and take it to the crematory where proper care is taken of the deceased until the cremation process can take place. After the cremation process, the cremains (which are the ashes) will come back in a sealed plastic bag inside a temporary hard plastic container, that can be picked up at our funeral home. All the paperwork is included in this fee as well. We also type an obituary that will be used on our website, our Facebook page, and KAIT’s online obituary page if you want, at no additional charge to you. The obituary is optional you don’t have to have one if you don’t want one.

All the paper work for the direct cremation to take place can be done at your home, at our funeral home, or any location of your choice within 75 miles of Manila, Arkansas. We will come to you if you can’t travel to us.

Before we can cremate, state law requires waiting 24 hours from the time of death, have the death certificate signed by the person that pronounced the death, and the Cremation Authorization form signed by the legal next of kin.

We often get lots of questions over additional fees for the removal of someone once they pass away, so we want to take the time to explain that if you pass away within 75 miles of Manila, Arkansas there is no additional cost added to our fee of $850.00. If you pass away over 75 miles away from Manila, Arkansas we charge $2.25 per mile.

If you want an urn for the cremains, we have several different types at our facility ranging in price from $50.00 to $250.00. If you want to bring in an urn or some other type of container to keep the cremains in, we will place the cremains inside at no additional charge.

Sometime an urn is not needed because the cremains are to be scattered or buried.

As for an obituary to be ran in a newspaper, we charge you what the newspaper charges us to place an obituary in the newspaper. (All newspapers vary in costs)

Other cost would be for certified death certificates. Arkansas charges $10.00 for the first one and $8.00 for each additional. Missouri charges $13.00 for the first one and $10.00 for each additional. Tennessee charges $15.00 for each. If you are a veteran, Arkansas gives you one free and Tennessee gives you three free.

If death occurs in Tennessee, there is a Cremation Permit that is required by the State of Tennessee at a cost of $25.00.

If you want to see your loved one before the cremation, without a public viewing or service, there is a $150.00 fee.

Memorial Service before or after the cremation.

What does that mean…..

You may have a memorial service at any time on your own at a location of your choice and there are many ways to do this. You could display photographs and memorabilia. You could have a speaker and songs just like a funeral service but without the body present. You could have it before or after the cremation is done - you really aren't under any time deadlines.

Some people wait weeks or months to have their service. Services can be held at a variety of places since there is no body present. You do not have to have a funeral home involved in this type of service.

Cremation with a viewing/service $1850.00

What does that mean…..

If you feel you need to have a viewing and or a service with the body present, you can do that. Our fee includes everything we do for the direct cremation plus embalming, staff, and vehicles needed for the service. After the service, the body would then be taken to the crematory for the cremation process as described above in the direct cremation.

You would also have the expense of a rental casket of $400.00. The cost of obituary, certified death certificates, and cremation permit if the deceased died in Tennessee.

Other possibilities

Some people wish to have keepsakes they can have a small amount of ashes in and we carry several different necklaces, keychains, and bracelets that are made to hold cremains. They range in price from $25.00 to $50.00. You can also order these types of items online and bring them to us and we will put the cremains in them for you at no cost. Owens from 2002-present, DDO fired by Microsoft in 2004 for selling Windows XP on the black market and for drug abuse, now employed by some place in Memphis, TN called “Meridian BioScience.“ When my Mom died in 2002, one year after my Dad passed away from cancer and heart problems, my sister and what she called her “life partner,” Angela C. Rowe of Millington, TN, a boastful intended heir of a company called Indmar Products, and a total stranger to me and my parents, would not let me leave the Paragould, AR hospital to check on my dogs–to go HOME. “You’re not going back to THAT HOUSE,” big Angela told me. “Who are YOU?” I asked, already well aware from threats by my sister that I was being set up (any myth of “trust” has been shattered in trauma counseling I’ve received). Dedra Owens had gotten me aside at the hospital and said, “I know you know what probate means” (imagine the tone of such words). “You will never see that house again.” She referred to my HOME OF 30 YEARS. This was a setup–both lesbians said they would kill (”euthanize”) both my dogs at home, Chewy and Delta, if I did not SIGN DEDRA OWENS BACK ON TO THE FAMILY BANK ACCOUNT…which was solely mine now. Dedra Owens had been cut off the account in the 1990s for her pathological gambling and other money excesses. Dedra Owens and “Chris” Rowe proceeded to steal everything I ever owned. Forgeries, coercion, threats, lies, warnings, psychological torture became a way of life for me. I’d been at home since leaving college in 1989 because of a diagnosis of severe Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder and Major-Depressive Disorder with bipolar symptoms. My sister told my doctor, Larry S. Felts of Jonesboro, AR, that I was “suicidal.” She said if I went against her narrative, the dogs were dead. She also told me “retarded people aren’t allowed to keep pets” (I was not and am not retarded…but, as you might guess, abuse is not doled out with sweet words). So I lived with these people for two horrific, soul-killing months, never having time to process the loss of my Mom after my Dad. My doctor never asked for my opinion or feelings, because I sat silent and was not isolated with him, and the Wives who loved to boast of their imaginary “Upper Crust” status regaled him with stories of my condition, WHICH WAS HIS DUTY TO JUDGE IN ASKING ME QUESTIONS THAT HE NEVER ASKED. My sister was correct that because of her Microsoft job, he took her at face value. That did not last, but it lasted long enough for my life to be ripped to shreds. The Wives made me check into St. Francis’ mental ward “indefinitely” (neither piece of trash telling me that I could be kept only two days), planning to sue Dr. Felts because I had not had a lithium level in five years. Angela Rowe said, in an eager, thick Southern drawl to credulous Dedra, “We’ll take that motherfucker for everything he’s worth!” It was rare to see such excitement in this quiet sociopath. At the mental ward, nurses were nice to me, but I saw a hellish wasteland of suicidal people and drug burnouts. Dedra Owens told me she “decided to come back and get me” when two days were up, and “she hoped I’d learned a lesson.” I learned my lesson from her the minute she got to the Paragould hospital on April 6, 2002. I hope lies that have been spread about me and about the nature of little Dedra’s seizure of my home, at which she was a virtual stranger, will soon be corrected in every way. I hope for convictions of Dedra Owens, Angela Rowe, and their associate Barry Todd Sanders, brother of Scarlett Sanders, a former lesbian lover of Dedra Owens and, from Dedra Owens’s Facebook presence shown to me by people who use the site, current girlfriend or wife. (Dedra Owens boasted in late 2003 that she and Angela Rowe had gone to Vermont and gotten married, during days that were most likely spent at the Tunica Gold Strike casino they frequented at least three times a week, according to a Cordova, TN neighbor of theirs named Johanna.) Dedra Owens ran a Mexican bar in Memphis in 2002, where she had Sanders and his gay lover/Illegal Mexican yes-man “Ricardo” buy a handful of cases of beer but in fact sold cocaine. (I didn’t even know this till a short time before I refused to go back to this dump. I do not drink, smoke, or do drugs, never have, and Dedra PROMISED me she was not “on drugs”–she and her gang were very, very much on drugs. I was under the impression Mexicans were unusually happy people…) Dedra tried to teach me “modesty” by having me clean this place, and she began the process of undoing herself by bragging to Dr. Felts about this. I had been in contact with my cousin Loretta since the morning Mom died, and just after telling her I was not going back to this bar, Dedra Owens called my apartment phone (she’d thrown me into an apartment after telling the doctor I could not live at home!) and told me hysterically that she’d splurged for a Mexican band, its guitarist had been shot dead by a heckler, and Barry Sanders used his double-barreled shotgun to shoot the heckler and a friend of his dead. “Chris is on her way to help them get rid of the bodies,” Dedra screamed, crying. Then she calmed down, and with sociopathic Borderline Personality dead affect, said “Well…like Chris said, Memphis police don’t give a shit about Illegals.” Months before, both Wives laughed deliriously when Dedra said, “It’s only a crime if you get caught!” “Do you believe in karma?” Dr. Felts asked me in 2012. I will write more of the countless details of the crimes soon. I believe in “liberty and justice for all.”

The custody of children is the most important part of the divorce as the future of the child or children would depend on the verdict of the court on their custodian. The custody of a child is a sensitive and emotional concern after the court decision during and after the divorce. Custody of a child is the legal right given to a parent by the competent court to make important decisions like education, health, religion, place of living, etc. as the situation arises in the child's life. The custody rights of the child can be assigned to one or both of the parents. When custodian rights are assigned to one parent only, it is called Sole Custody. In the case of Joint Custody,  both parents share custody rights. Then, there is Physical Custody and Legal Custody. Physical Custody determines where the child should be living. If Legal Custody of the child is given, then the parent or parents (in case of joint legal custody), have the right and responsibility to make decisions on the important aspects of a child's life, like education, religion,  insurance, and health care. The court may give the custodian rights as sole physical custody or joint physical custody or sole legal custody or joint legal custody or a combination of these. Usually, brothers and sisters stay together but in some cases, the court splits these children. The situation of the parents or of the child can change later on. Hence, it might be needed to revise the parenting plan or the Child Custody arrangement as and when needed. 

Each state in the United States has its own laws regarding the custodian of the child; though the criteria may be different, they all follow the same principle. One of the main criteria considered by the court while making the decision on custodian is that ‘in the best interest of the child’. The court may consider the preferences of the child, especially if he or she is of the age of 12 years and has the capacity to explain and reason. The child’s bond with the parents is taken into account; whether he or she is more attached to father or mother? The safety of the child based on the personality characteristics of parents is also checked upon. Like for example, the caring nature of a parent and the violent behavior of another parent. The physical health, mental conditions, and negative habits of the parents are also taken into account. Another criteria considered is the primary caretaker of the child during the past and the current situation. Among other factors, the court may consider the parent who will be able to keep up the child’s contact with a non-custodial parent continuously. The non-custodial parent usually gets visitation rights. The custodial parent should at least have enough financial resources to support himself or herself and have more resources than a non-custodial parent. In short, the custodian of the child should be given to the parent, who can ensure him or her a secure and safe environment to live in.
