what animal form does your familiar take?: Bora is a yellow-bellied sea snake and most definitely poisonous. It feels a bit strange being a sea snake so far away from the water, but she makes do. She is originally from Jeju Island, so it makes sense to her. Her snake form is only about a foot long, shorter than the average yellow-bellied sea snake. Because of her form, she is usually not allowed outside with it, as it would attract attention (unless her job is to provide a distraction, of course). When she is outside, it is usually acting as someone’s necklace, or sleeping in a carrier of some sort, or a purse. Of course, anyone who sees her gives her companion a wide berth, which is usually just what they want.

Bora’s personality is very snake-like. She is opportunistic, ambitious, self-preserving, and more than willing to roll down in the dirt. She can only be trusted by a select few people. Her interests always come first as does her survival.

how does your familiar feel about the bond?: Bora comes from a very traditional family, so she always saw the bond as inevitable. Of course, once she reached a certain age and her life went down the drain, she started to see beyond just tradition and honor. She saw the possibility of power. If she can get her witch to be powerful, to train, to study, then she can be powerful through them. She would defend her witch within an inch of her life. After all, she only gets one and then the opportunity is gone. Her witch is one of the few people she could find herself putting before her self. She would never want to weaken their bond in any way.

what is your witch’s favorite aspect of witchcraft?: byeol was born to a very traditional family of witches, the kind that performed their craft as it was centuries ago. less flashy spells and modern concepts and more nature-grounded and time-consuming rituals. for byeol, magic is something that must be respected and taken seriously, but it’s also a tool that has always been part of her existence. thus, she uses it to every extend of it, because why wouldn’t she? why would she bend to pick up and object if she can call it to her hand?

due to her upbringing, ritualistic magic is, without a doubt, byeol’ specialty. the one that requires special steps, ingredients, objects or words to be performed. it’s methodical and concrete, and while it might be more complex than other forms of magic, she finds it quite intuitive. that’s why she’s also good with potions too. following recipes and instructions is something she excels at.

what is your witch’s least favorite aspect of witchcraft?: being a witch is one of the pillars of her existence, and it’s not that byeol loves it, it’s that to her it’s the most normal thing in the universe. thus having a least favorite aspect for it is a weird though. but, maybe, if she was to point something, that could be the status of secrecy surrounding the community. having to hide her existence and pretend to be a normal human. not that she has anything against them, byeol just wonders why. and worries too, because she sees how that has affected the community, with more and more new witches having lost their connection to old traditions. not that she’s opposed to modern forms of magic, byeol has experimented with them after leaving her family cottage to build her own life, but she feels witchcraft is losing its foundation due to secrecy and hiding.

as for the magic itself, she struggles a bit more with abstract forms of witchcraft, those that are not as fixed or are based more on the imagination of the witch. unless she’s acting upon instinct or with the support of her familiar, she finds it more difficult to perform them.

what is your witch’s favorite aspect of witchcraft?: do aeri is a girl that loves being a witch. she loves the advantages she has over humans and that feeling kind of makes her feel superior to them — despite being as mortal as them, she still believes to be better and more worth it than them. that’s how her mother taught her and her sisters. she thinks being able to use herbs, plants and crystal to hers and others’ benefit is something beautiful, and even though she has some negative feelings towards humans, aeri is very loyal to her species and to her coven ( and by coven, she means her closest friends and family ).

what is your witch’s least favorite aspect of witchcraft?: do aeri doesn’t really mind relying on phases of the moon, but she will admit to not being the biggest fan of bonding with someone for life. the commitment scares her and the idea of making a mistake with the familiar she bonds with makes her nervous. she has a love/hate relationship with curses — she loves being able to curse someone who deserves it, but she hates it when she is the person that gets cursed ( and sometimes, she doesn’t even deserve it ).

what animal form does your familiar take?:  Kitty’s name is symbolic of his feelings towards his animal form. He adores spending time as a Maine Coon and feels far more comfortable on four legs than two. Most of his formative years were spent curled up in the home of a human family who had no idea exactly what he was. If it wasn’t for his witch bond he would have been more than happy to live his life out with them as their Kitty.

His breed are known for being gentle giants, abundantly loyal, yet independent and active which bleeds over heavily into his personality. Now that he’s living in Seoul in his human form, Kitty’s taken up a demanding work out schedule that keeps him moving and being a cashier is easy work with his bright smile and soft voice. He’s also a tad bit cautious around strangers outside of work, so he tries to stick to himself when he’s not out looking for his witch through the bond.

how does your familiar feel about the bond?: Kitty has always been aware of his bond. There’s never been a moment of emptiness in his life as he’s always felt someone else was there with him. Growing up in a human household, the familiar was more than content on staying with his family seeing as he was bitter about being tied to some witch he didn’t know when he currently had a family who loved him dearly. Things slowly began to change once he reached his teenage years and the call to find his witch became too strong. He knew he needed to find his other half despite being comfortable exactly where he was.

The bitterness still hasn’t fully left after all these years of searching and still not finding his witch. It makes Kitty grumpy that he feels this unending loyalty without the witch earning it. This isn’t to say his feelings won’t change when he finally does meet whoever he’s bonded to. Some part of Kitty does want fulfill his life’s purpose of being a witch’s familiar and find his balance. For now, he’s still off kilter, slightly stubborn, and slightly wanting.

what is your witch’s favorite aspect of witchcraft?: Jia’s favorite aspect of witchcraft is the interconnectedness of it all. She comes from two magical family lines. Her Korean side focused on more traditional pagan witchcraft while her Puerto Rican/German side focused on curanderismo, but despite their different focuses, she learned it all came down to feeling connected to something bigger than yourself. It was about being connected to each other and to the natural world, to feel its history every time you channel its energy.

On a less theological level, Jia enjoys brewing potions and studying herbs. Her Korean mother’s side was much more into active spells, so they never quite understood why she opted to focus less on bringing herself power or success, and more on healing. Of course, since that was all curanderismo focused on, her father’s side was at least proud.

what is your witch’s least favorite aspect of witchcraft?: Jia does not enjoy how draining magic can be, particularly the stronger spells. It comes at great cost to her own well-being, particularly before she found her familiars. However, Jia’s least favorite aspect of witchcraft is the politics surrounding it all. As a person with mortal family and friends, she never quite understood the elite among her kind, those who saw humans as less than them. At least among humans, she didn’t have to deal with people telling her what magic she should be practicing, albeit, usually because she had to hide it from them.

what is your witch’s favorite aspect of witchcraft?: Being able to control things, change things, effect people’s lives for better or worse. Yejin did not have a very nice childhood. She often felt very powerless. Now, as a grown woman, she can make someone’s greatest desire come to them with a potion or end their career with a spell. Yejin has made a career out of this, running a referral-only business selling illicit potions (under the guise of a consultancy firm). She saves her most powerful spells for only the highest paying clients. It’s done well enough that Yejin can now afford a flat in one of the higher end neighborhoods of Seoul, though her neighbors seem none too pleased with the shady characters that began lurking around after she moved in.

what is your witch’s least favorite aspect of witchcraft?: The entire concept of familiars. She can get away with selling a weaker spell or potion every once in a while, what could the buyer do? Report her for business fraud? They’d get laughed out of any police station. However, Yejin is irked by the idea that her full potential is locked away until happen stance brings some ruddy animal her way. Yejin has only had herself to rely on her whole life. She doesn’t like the idea of being beholden to anyone or anything. It limits her and Yejin long ago promised herself that she’d never let herself be limited by anything. Not her circumstances, not the law and certainly not any familiar.

what animal form does your familiar take?: romeo can take the form of a black king shepherd - a dog that was bred to protect and work, hence romeo’s diligence and persistence. he is, quite literally, a shepherd dog in the body of a human. despite being a natural leader, he has always shirked away from long standing responsibilities, as commitment isn’t one of his strong points. king shepherd is a rather large dog - as is romeo, standing at 6 feet tall and visiting the gym regularly. quite frankly, he likes  feeling  and  looking  intimidating, even though it’s nothing but a mask to conceal his true self.

how does your familiar feel about the bond?: romeo is a free spirit that would much rather flee seoul and be an individual dependent on no other than himself, than remain joined at the hip with another person. though he lusts for freedom   &   independence, there’s something in him that draws him back to his witch, as if they have ripped out a piece of his heart and are now keeping it in their pocket to keep the familiar on a short leash. magic, perhaps  ??   however reckless and mindless, romeo has and will always remain true and faithful to his witch.

what is your witch’s favorite aspect of witchcraft?: without a doubt, geurim loves the confidence she possesses because of her identity. be it because of the powers she has been given or her natural cockiness, she sees herself as divine and being a witch is a large part of that for her. with so many other things in her life being chaotic and seemingly impossible to manage, witchcraft has always the thing she feels she can best control. the idea of being a powerful being sets her ahead in the way that she is much more equipped to deal with conflict with a clear head, and lowers her inhibitions, even in situations she shouldn’t have. for her, being a witch puts a veil over her problems - which in a sense is false confidence - but more than anything, a deterrent from things that may stop her from succeeding. the thought that i am an important part of the universe, i’m doing my part, i got this are all ways that geurim coaches herself through her identity to persevere during any conflict.

what is your witch’s least favorite aspect of witchcraft?: the disconnect between her and the others she cares about most. for the majority of her time as one, she’s been an independent witch, practicing alone and gravitating towards regular humans instead. but nowadays, she’s realized that to gain and keep her power she, in some sense, has to interact more with her kind. whether it be a familiar or another witch, geurim’s still coming to terms with the idea that she truly is different, that there will always be some sort of difference between her and others around her. while her identity is something she’s very proud of, at times she wants to just forget about it and live her life without the rituals and effort she must put in to do well. aside from just the outside world she comes from a mixed ancestry family, her mother of a proud line of witches and her father of a very conservative normal family. being born a witch has set her apart from the rest of her family on her dad’s side, as well as made her isolated her question her allegiance to her mom’s, so that she never quite knows which side she feels more at home on.

how does your familiar feel about the bond?: He has a bit of a love/hate relationship with the bond he was tethered to at birth. On one hand, it’s like a soulmate, feeling as if you’ll always have someone there for you and it makes life less lonely in general. sohee’s canine temperaments shines through even in her human form. petite in size, with a luxurious chestnut brown and white coat of fur, the familiar absolutely cannot get enough of herself. she requires frequent grooming and care, causing her to become quite pampered and spoiled. the familiar spends most of her days lounging around with the expectation of being dotted on. because her taste is especially peculiar, at first glance, sohee comes off as brattish. however, despite this, she is extremely friendly and cheerful by nature. sohee is capable of getting along with most people, not shy to approach anyone for anything. more often than not, what she truly desires is attention and the company of others. she is constantly craving compliments; whether it be in the form of a belly rub or likes on an instagram post. often letting her curiosity get the best of her, the energetic familiar is constantly finding herself in sticky situations. luckily, her charm and ability to adapt quickly to different environments helps keep her out of too much trouble. Lunette has the ability to bend the big, bad things of the world at her command and to her every wish. Anything can become malleable if she should so want it to be, but with great power has come great responsibility. Recently having graduated college and finding herself longing for the sticky-note-ridden pages of yesteryear, Lunette has become a bit of a historian, eager to learn anything and everything she can about witchcraft, its origins, and especially the stories that the powers that be had hoped time would forget. Time will certainly not forget, not on Lunette’s watch. It brings her a sense of peace, knowing that as long as she is learning about these stories and these witches of days gone by, they will never truly die. what is your witch’s least favorite aspect of witchcraft?: Lunette hates the idea of being under a microscope, with all eyes on her. She hated it all throughout her school days and, whenever she is out with friends, she is more than happy to stand back while she lets the more colorful personalities shine through. Despite how much she loves being a witch, it puts a giant red target on her back. It’s a perfect storm for her paranoia; she’s always worried that the things that happened to this or that witch will happen to her. Above all, Lunette craves security but, unfortunately, that never can be a given. More often than not, she’s turning her head two or three times while walking down the street. It’s an itch she can’t scratch. She has her suspicions about the world around her and they all stem from the fact that people like her don’t have a history of being accepted.

what is your witch’s least favorite aspect of witchcraft?: although patient, miran has low tolerance for the wavering success certain spells have. tireless efforts turned into a puff of smoke. she continues to look for something bigger that simply isn’t there, even if she begs the stars endlessly for answers. others tell her to have faith, to wait for the day in which she and her familiar can achieve the perfect bond. she vocally rejects the concept of having to rely on another to gain power. it’s a burden to look after someone other than herself and worry about the opinions they may have with her questionable practices.

what is your witch’s favorite aspect of witchcraft?: There’s a freedom that comes with being a witch that Jihoon is addicted to. He was raised by a wealthy sorcerer family which gave him all the opportunities to study different forms of witchcraft growing up, but personally, Jihoon has always felt a connection the element Earth. He has an aptitude for spell work using herbs from his small indoor garden, or items he picks up from his walks around Seoul’s parks. Even his major as a photography student stems from his love of the element since his specialty is landscape and wild-life. Jihoon want to use his major as an excuse to travel the world discovering new wild places and following the road less traveled. Also having a familiar who could travel with him and marvel at the world’s wonders is the icing on the cake. He doesn’t want to be the most powerful witch around, but Jihoon does want to properly trained and good at what he does.

what is your witch’s least favorite aspect of witchcraft?: The worst thing about being a city dweller is the lack of wide open spaces filled with fresh air and green grass. Jihoon would like more access to items he could use for his spell work, or time to get away from the loud noises to find quiet spot to meditate and thank the Earth for her blessings. One other thing he doesn’t like is that some sorcerers in the community do feel elite over humans. In his opinion, they all live together on this planet and no one person is better than the other.
