Do we have a hedgehog problem?
In the Hedgehog and the Fox (1953), Isaiah Berlin speculates on Leo Tolstoy's inner turmoil. The famous Russian author self-sabotaged his own happiness (Valiunas, 1989). Berlin seems to suggest Tolstoy's desire for absolute truth fueled his discontent.

Those who don't care
Tumblr media
@flashfictionfridayofficial Foyle muses over some of the guilty he's met over the years, and differences. (behind cut for spoilers)
It's the ones who don't care that stick to him, the fact that they lie, and evade and even when he confronts them with the evidence, there is no remorse. Howard Page, who had ruined lives and hadn't even had the decency to stand up for trial, Major Wesker, who only cared about his own gain, Simon Walker, wrapped up too deep in sweet propaganda. Devlin, Peters, Policemen for Goodness Sake who used their abilities to further their own ends, irrelevent of who was harmed. Oh Peters claimed he never meant to line Milner up to hang, but he never stepped forwards until confronted for falisifing the evidence, out of spite. It makes him cold.
At least the German spies are open and honest about what they came to do, once their cover is gone, they stop bluffing. They understand that there is no point. And many murderers over the years, bow their heads and admit what they did, and why- and sometimes, they almost have good reasons, or understandable circumstances for it.
The ones that don't care, never.

The problem with falisification, especially when this has been proven to have a longterm destructive effect, is it won’t be “untraceable” or administratively “invisible”. The falsification in itself Will require further falsification to support the original Lie. If the original aim is to bury someone, who continued to survive a clear traceable Line of falsification becomes evident. https://www.instagram.com/p/CbMguJ9MXSc/?utm_medium=tumblr
