closed for @rhysbradley location: mercy hospital, night of the blackout
Falak had been trying to see if any of the landline phones were working nearby the nurses station, but getting there was nothing short of a stumbling process thanks to how many people were in the hospital and given the darkness, everyone was having difficulties. She wasn't looking to call any particular person, but rather trying for the police to see if the entire city was engulfed in this darkness or just parts of town. And if it was the case--what were they doing to get it up and running. Surely they couldn't expect the residents to just deal with it, because that was unacceptable.
By the time she got the nurse's station and picked up the phone, a sinking feeling was inside of her and sure enough as soon as she put the receiver to her ear--the lack of a dial tone confirmed her thoughts. "Of course it's dead, why wouldn't it be? Clearly everything is going to hell today.." she murmured as she slammed the damn phone back down. She didn't really care who was watching her act this way but just as she placed the phone down, she caught sight of someone watching her. "I suppose it's too much to ask if you know anything about what's going on, huh?"

Falak raised a brow, clearly surprised by his words about how a Purge was actually fun but didn't make any mention on it. Instead she just sighed out loud and glanced back in his direction. "Might not be fun but definitely seems to be the case. I was looking outside earlier and it legit looks like the entire city is dark," she murmured before asking him what brought him here tonight. His words made her wince because that sounded pretty traumatic. "Yeah that was a good call, asides from the whole blackout situation," she murmured before chuckling softly at his words. "So you say--but apparently the cafeteria puts on a great show every weekend," she teased before explaining her presence. "I was supposed to be at that ball thing tonight actually but my mother had a pretty bad fall and so I came here with her. And then all this happened, so it's been a pretty eventful day if I'm honest."
Rhys sighed heavily, slapping the palms of his hands against his knees. "Y'know, that one doesn't sound as fun, but a lot more likely." the idea of a Purge was actually terrifying, but Rhys himself had a small list of names in mind if the occasion ever did arise. "I got a new bartender who has particularly slippy fingers and just-" his hands mimicked the way she had cut her hand whilst slicing the fruit in preparation for the cocktails that were to be served. "I know basic first aid but it looked pretty deep so, here I am." his lips pressed into a thin line. "What about you? The hospital isn't exactly the rager on a Saturday night." Rhys airily joked.

Falak should've been bothered by his comment, she should've just not even bothered to engage in conversation but a small smile was on her face as she shook her head instead. She could make out an empty seat next to him and took it before letting out a sigh. "Okay so that's one possibility of what the hell is happening here tonight. Another one--that our lovely local government has run out of money and could've even afford to pay the bills for basic needs like the hospital." Falak wasn't trying to be funny--she really wasn't all that humorous anyways but this conversation was certainly helping keep her mind off her mother for now. "So what brought you here tonight?"
The moment the power shut off, Rhys' gut instinct was to find an exit so he could get back to Tric. He had left his bar manager in charge, but with being the owner, Rhys felt as he should be there for every emergency. But then he remembered the reason why he was at the hospital in the first place, and could hardly leave his new bartender on her own waiting for stitches in her hand. So instead of freaking out like every other person within the hospital, Rhys sat on a hard plastic chair in the waiting room, constantly checking his phone for signal.
"Nope." Rhys confessed. "Although between you and me, this has gotta be the beginning of our Purge. Any second now they're going to make the announcement." he decided, although part of him knew it was a poor humoured joke considering the panic amongst everyone in the hospital.
