I found this lovely piece today, it’s the only one I kept from my #fabstractfeb challenge just before lockdown, I think the prompt was ‘subtlety’?! I really like the sequins nestled in the couched wool. Holes! This is my ‘avoided colour’ hoop for #fabstractfeb, I find red really hard to work with ( and also wear!) so I never really use it! This is two layers of gorgeous red silk from a Kew dress that I picked up for £1 because it had holes in, I’m so glad I finally used it and I actually rather like this! Translucent. ‘Frenzied’ Today is day 15 and I’m over half way through the #fabstractfeb challenge! I tried to sew as fast as I could and try not to think too hard on what to put where in order to portray a frenzied feel to this piece, I also picked some quite acidic colours to work with to give it a kind of jarred feel. ‘One Thing’ Day 14 of #fabstractfeb and I wanted to see what would happen if you were restricted to only using one thing, so I opted for black beads. I really struggled with not using any floss but I’m glad I persevered, I quite like those little clusters of beads where they bundle over each other! I also didn’t realise when I was sewing that it looked a bit like spiders legs!! 🕷 This piece is made from a piece of ivory silk shirt and heavy glass beads from a beautiful jaeger skirt that had seen better days.
