watching minecraft sos as a life series fan is so harrowing i genuinely keep thinking every interaction is a prelude to violence and every single time its just people hanging out and being friends. mogswamp told fwhip to walk ahead of him on a rickety bridge he built and the entire time i kept waiting for fwhip to get punched off and die. instead mog gave him 10 mending books in exchange for 3 stacks of coal, every day i experience traffic series-induced whiplash

another Minecraft SOS update for you all, this time about why there's a "no lore" rule put in place.

Here are my own personal thoughts about this: Good. I think a lot of us would agree that Empires s2 fizzled out at the end and that it was clear, even if they didn't show it, that the CCs were just not that passionate about it anymore. I think part of that has to do with the scripted lore stuff (the other thing would be the crossover which I have a lot of Thoughts about but it might be a bit too controversial, ig if you see an mcytblr confession about the crossover being *ahem* mid then you know who wrote it).

While the elaborate backstories and planned lore segments had their place... these are Minecraft creators, not actors or writers, and I'm sorry to say, but the obvious Lore moments were just a bit awkward and ill-conceived to watch sometimes. I like roleplay-based SMPs, but I prefer it when the bulk of the lore is kept to the fandom, yk? It leaves more room for imagination.

Minecraft storytelling is at its best when it is improv, which is why Empires 1 worked better. I feel like forcing a traditional storytelling structure on a non-traditional format is limiting the strength of the medium (can you tell I also want to write a paper on Minecraft storytelling and its completely unique approach to narrative and the dimensionality of characters, completely deconstructing/transforming the concept of the "protagonist?").

The SOS SMP finale was quite a wild ride

We got nature wives, scott icarus-ing him self, oli shenanigans, nature wives, and lore.

I enjoyed the finale quite a lot and this series was so much fun to watch <3

Also, Sausage with the lore. I mean, the fates being the past lives of players or something is a super cool concept

And them all just explaining to Mog that strange things happen at the end of SMP's was very funny lmao

Also, Scott needs to stop sacrificing himself cause like dude there was no reason to this time 😭

So it wasn't till today that I found out he built a shrine on SOS with color-coded candles for each player's deaths.

They really need to give him more enrichment. He's not allowed to do his own lore anymore, so he's expanding on Pix's instead.

He has been in many story-driven servers for the past few years and frankly he and a lot of the members of SOS deserve a break from producing lore for a server. Although lore is a good component of a SMP, it is good to take a break from it every once in a while.

Im catching up on mythical sausage's pov of SOS. In his 10th episode Fwhip disapares and then reappears with no memory of the interaction. Sausage thinks Fwhip said 'Fwhip away' but he actually said 'Fate away'. Fwhip also earlier in Sausage's series allows the angle sausage wings to stay if they are curse of binding, which makes them more like real wings. Which is weird if u consider the fates...

Now I wrote that a while ago and it was just sitting in my drafts but since then there has been more :D

I just saw this post which talks about ANOTHER instance of Fwhip referring to himself as a Fate.

When doing admin things such telling the player that the cost of resurrection has gone up he also refers to it as a Fate thing along along with admin thing.

So the fates are the 'admins' but Fwhip doesn't seem to be one, maybe he is being possessed by them. If so what do they want? Should we be worried about them? How do they create the coins? Why are the Fates so against lore?

Fwhip is going against them but with the Fates being able to take control of him, how much can he really do. So I guess the real question of SOS is 'Why is Fwhip trying to stop the Fates?'

I feel like knowing the answer might reveal more about the world of SOS :D
