Ronan loved working at bars, for the simple reason that there really was never a dull night. They’d already been hit on several times, and even broken up the beginnings of a fight all before their siblings had arrived. It was the type of chaos they lived for. They glanced down the counter after sliding the cosmo across to Sav, quickly checking if anyone needed a refill or to close out their tabs for the night. When they saw there were none and they had a moment of down time, they leaned a hip against the counter top and slung a towel over their shoulder. “So, what do you think?” They asked, a grin spreading across their lips. “Both of the drink, and the place as a whole?”

WHO: Ronan Ryan & Sloan Ryan @sloan-ryan
WHEN: Wednesday, 07.21.21
WHERE: Ronan’s Dorm Room
WHAT: Two alters help Ronan text a match. (Kind of.)
WARNINGS: None.
Ronan Ryan
Ronan nodded and took the phone back, typing out the response Sloan had suggested. While he waited for the notification, he walked to the kitchen to grab some water bottles and smartfood flavored popcorn before returning, a wide grin spreading across his lips. "I hid this from AV, just in case. Wasn't sure if they'd try to swipe it or not." He sat down, setting the snacks on the coffee table just as another text came through. He picked his phone up and unlocked it again, turning it so his sibling could see the screen. 'Good, good. I'm alright! What about you? Enjoying the week?'
Sloan Ryan | Skylar
It was the bit of mischief in Ronan's voice in combination with his smile and the immediate text back that put the next few moments into motion. Though they didn't intend to, Sloan lost focus for a second; looking at the text on the screen but not really reading it. They flipped their hair out of their face and ran a hand through it. They read the first three words and then paused again, as if they were thinking. Then all at once their body was rocketing upward and reaching for the phone with an excited squeal. "Oh My GOD!" Skylar all but yelled. "You're talking to a boy!" She beamed, reading the text and then abruptly sat back down on the couch. "What does he look like? Where did you meet him?!"(edited)
Ronan Ryan
Ronan hadn't expected the sudden switch, but when it occurred he had a pretty good idea of who it was that had surfaced. Still, just to be safe, he quickly asked, "Who am I speaking with?" He settled himself back into the corner of the couch, his cheeks flushing a light pink as he nodded. "Yeah, I am. I think he's a tall, blonde, but I'd have to see him to be sure," He laughed softly, glancing between his sibling and the phone. "I'm doing this perfect match thing the school is running. They pair people up for the Summer." It was a short, direct explanation but it served it's purpose.
Sloan Ryan | Skylar
"Oh my God yeah the perfect match thing! Kizzi is doing it too, I was asking her if she was going on dates." Skylar clutched the phone in her hands as if it were a life line and of most importance. "Tall and blonde sounds really good!" She continued, Ronan's question going unnoticed. "This seems totally romantic, what if you end up really liking each other?" Skylar looked over at Ronan excitedly and then back down at the phone, poised to begin typing. "What are you going to say to him?! He wants to know if you're enjoying your week." The words I'm awesome with three exclamation points being tapped out into the text box.
Ronan Ryan
Ronan laughed softly and shifted closer just so he could see what Skylar was typing. "Oh, gosh... maybe that's a little too excited. Um, maybe something a little more toned down like... oh! Elisa and I went kayaking today. And... then we all went to the barbecue?" He tried, glancing over towards his sibling. "So, yes. Definitely enjoying the week," He nodded, letting out a soft laugh. "I don't know. I guess if we do, then we do? But it's kind of like the Bachelor. He probably has several people he's talking to right now, you know?"
Sloan Ryan | Skylar
It pained her to do so but Skylar tapped the backspace and erased a single exclamation point from the three. Then she pulled up the emojis and added a rosy cheeked smiling face before beginning to type about kayaking, which she deemed to be boring but accepted it as factual. She paused her thumbs over the screen to look up at Ronan, absolutely gleaming. "You mean you have more than one match for this thing? Oh my God who else do you have? Have you gotten other texts? Did you meet any of them yet?!!"
Ronan Ryan
Ronan laughed softly and nodded, watching Skylar as she typed out about his day. "Yes, I have more than one. I think everyone does really. But, no. Two of them are people I don't know yet, so I might actually try to reach out to them. However, Diego took me to volunteer at the animal shelter last Saturday." He said, noticing how excited Skylar seemed. That was contagious, and he found himself starting to get excited himself. He carefully took his phone back, looking over what she had typed before beginning to make small edits here and there.
Sloan Ryan | Skylar | Sav
"You already went on a date with someone? That's so amazing and so cA-UTE, an animal shelter." Skylar pressed her hands to her chest, touched and wide eyed. Then before Ronan could make too many changes to the text she'd been typing out for him she took it back, bouncing in her seat with excitement. "How many of you are doing the program? Oh is Minty?!" Skylar asked, momentarily getting distracted. "She didn't tell me!" Thumbs moving at lightening speed Skylar continued the text, going on to start typing if the cute tall blonde guy wanted to meet up but she stilled, seemingly stalling. A long unimpressed inhale later it was Sav sitting up straighter and holding the phone out to Ronan with a blank expression. "Don't let her pen your messages." And then, "Sav." Because she knew he'd ask.
Ronan Ryan
Ronan laughed softly and grinned over at his sibling, doing his best to keep up with where the conversation was going. "Oh gosh, definitely not a date but I-- yeah I can check with Minty! I'm not sure if she is or not, but I know Kizzi is," He informed, but then when things seemed to immediately calm down, he could tell another switch was happening. He waited for the next alter to surface before smiling to himself when she mentioned who she was. "Thanks for that. But, yeah no I kinda... anyway." He waved a hand, letting out a soft laugh. "Maybe you can offer a little more... guidance?"
Sloan Ryan | Sav
Sav was not interested in this but she wasn’t sitting around letting Skylar run anyone’s dating life either. None of them were equipped for that, not even Sloan. She leaned forward to retrieve the open bag of popcorn and then sat back, legs crossed, snack in her lap. “Is it for dating or claiming?” She asked, peering into the bag and picking out a single cheesy popped kernel. Then she waved a hand, deciding it didn’t matter. “Tell him you want to blow him, that’ll win you a match.” The popcorn then tossed into her mouth something akin to a grin gracing her lips as she chewed.
Ronan Ryan
Ronan's jaw dropped, and he looked over at Sav with widened eyes almost immediately. "Oh gosh. Are you sure?" He asked, his entire face now entirely red. One of the many downfalls of being as pale as he was, he couldn't ever hide a blush. "It's like... a temporary claim thing." He informed, glancing down toward the screen as his fingers hovered over the keyboard. He began typing and deleting several times until "I want to bl" was typed out in the box. "This isn't too forward, right?"
Sloan Ryan | Sav
Picking out another piece of popcorn, careful to only touch it with her thumb and forefinger in an effort to keep clean, she shrugged. “It is absolutely forward.” Was it too forward? She really had no gauge to determine that. Nor did she care. Pulling out Sloans phone Sav was quick to tap at Snapchat, grimacing at the state of their hair when the app opened up to reveal what they were looking like today. She pushed her fingers through the shaggy blonde mess to push it all back instead of it hanging off the side of their head. Getting rid of the pheasant haircut was a complaint she submitted frequently to their journals. “You should be being yourself and not relying on the mind of a seventeen year old to give you advice on men.” Sav reluctantly supplied as she swiped through the filters, finding one with bright lipstick and lashes and snapping a picture. She sighed, eyes rolling. “Tell him you’ve just started here and you’re nervous to get to know people but you want to.”
Ronan Ryan
Ronan rolled his eyes at the comment about the mind of a 17 year old, setting the phone down for now. He really didn't even feel like doing this at the moment, it was far too complicated, and he only had himself to blame for that. "Well, I invited Sloan over, but sometimes switches just... happen, which is fine. You'd have a point if I wasn't basically having to compete against other people for someone I don't even really know. I guess I just misread the instructions, because I thought you got matched with one person. If that makes sense." He shrugged a shoulder, reaching into the bag to grab a handful of popcorn before leaning back into the corner of the couch, resting his head against the back as he watched her taking the selfie. "I'm just going to revisit it tomorrow, I think. It's a lot," He muttered, popping a piece of the popcorn into his mouth. "Why does dating have to be so... Bachelor-esque? It's weird."
Sloan Ryan | Sav
Sav looked over at Ronan, but she bit her tongue on how she’s well aware how switches happen. Instead she pushed the popcorn bag toward him, clearly he needed it more than she did. “I don’t date so I couldn’t tell you.” She said honestly. “But I’m sure you’ll do just fine when you stop worrying so much over it.” Internally she groaned, annoyed with how much that sounded like Sierra. This was getting grating. “I can say that ghosting your matches is not going to do it.” Sav sat back again, poised to leave it at that. “Now let’s watch a movie. I haven’t been out all week.”
Ronan Ryan
Ronan nodded gratefully, more than happy to just drop it and focus on something else. Taking the popcorn bag in one hand, he grabbed the remote with the other and began searching through the streaming services he had until he landed on a movie they both agreed on.
