Oliver wasn’t one for very formal events, but since this was the beginning of the year, he decided that it would be sensible and probably healthy to join the rest of the town. He also wasn’t much of an artist; he admired art. The classic, the modern and contemporary. There were so many interpretations that were out there. “Do you have any art posted up here?” He asked the person next to him.

"Me too," Jamie offered a smile back. "Usually tastes much better anyway. And with Merrock, I have yet to be disappointed enough that I won't give it a second chance," he said. He loved all the places in town to eat, and there was always something every now and then that was fun and brand new. "Sounds great," he said. "Bar's right over there. Are you a whiskey man? What's your preference?" he asked as they made their way towards the bar.

"I always prefer supporting local small businesses and restaurants over the chain places anyways." he spoke with a small smile. "And I know that they probably appreciate the business; because if it all tastes as good as that smells and looks then these restaurants will be booming with business within the next few weeks I can almost guarantee it." he nodded. "Sure, I'd love to join you. We can make a stop for some drinks on the way and then get some food."

"I remember taking art history classes and having to memorize the color wheel," Oliver said. "Middle schoolers... both have low and high expectations. They expect us to be on top of our game but we're also the least 'cool' people ever," he laughed quietly. "No, no, I am not skilled in art enough. I'm an English teacher, nevermind the obvious--" he waved his hand in front of his face, referring to his accent. "Literature, reading, books. I'm also a librarian," he said before nodding. "How about you? What do you do for a living?"

"I don't think I even know which colors to mix and which colors are complimentary." he admitted. "It takes a whole special kind of talent to do this kind of work. But I have to agree, teaching middle schoolers feels like a challenge and a talent in itself." he laughed. "You teach art?" he questioned, eyes fixated on the other for a moment as he stated he was about to make his way that direction. "I wouldn't mind following you. Lead the way."

"I certainly am nowhere close to this level," Oliver said with a soft laugh. He nodded. "I like to think I can match colors here and there, and make things look decent. Luckily in a classroom, you just have to make it look appealing and interesting. But impressing middle schoolers is kind of a challenge," he said thoughtfully. "Not yet, shall we walk in that direction? I heard there's plenty of it and it's all delicious," he offered a smile.

"It really is insane isn't it? I knew that some of the people here had insane talent but I would've never guess that it was to this level." he admitted, eyes focusing on the other as he confessed. "I'm not an artist either; I half the time can't even tell you what colors contrast and go well with others. I just don't have that kind of eye. But this is a whole other level." the thought ended nodding as the other stated something about taking an art class. It wasn't exactly something Rhett found himself wanting to do, but, it was definitely something to consider. "I haven't, I was going to make my way out there soon, actually." he nodded, attention turning towards where the food was located. "You?"

Jamie nodded at him. "Yes, highly recommend," he grinned a bit. "And it's from one of the local places, of course. They didn't just order some generic catering," he chuckled. "So it's even better! Right over there. I may help myself to another, actually," he said. "Care to join me? Might even grab a drink on the way,"

"Oh, that actually sounds fantastic." Rhett nodded, his smile widening whenever the other stated that they'd had two already. "I say get as much as you want personally; it's not every day that we have quiche that looks that damn good around here." he commented, eyes looking between the quiche on his plate and the male he was in conversation with. "Which tent was it from? I may just have to take a stroll over there and get some myself."

“I’m really not an artist,” Oliver said thoughtfully. He wanted to pick out something that really spoke to him and to have it done by a local artist? Even better. He wanted to support the local talent, so this was a good place to start. “Also just admiring, and feeling amazed at all the talent in town,” he nodded. “I might even take an art class or two when my schedule clears up,” he smiled. “I think that would be fun.” He nodded. “Have you tried the food yet?”

Art galleries weren't exactly something Rhett found himself part of too often; yet he'd made a promise to himself and had made an effort to come out and see everything. He had always enjoyed art, and when he was younger he'd used drawing and doodling as a means to cope sometimes, but he'd never been one that truly felt the artistic talent was there. And while he'd never understood it, his wife Naomi had given him a taste of it before she'd passed. "I don't." he admitted, the other's question taking him out of his daze, glancing at the other. "I'm just admiring." he smiled. "What about you?"

Jamie looked down at his plate for a moment and hummed, licking over his lips. "Quiche, it's actually quite delicious. I had two already, and I feel bad going back for more," he chuckled. "I like the cheesy part of the crust," he smiled. "I recommend it, though. Goes really well with a side of pasta or salad or something,"

"What is that?" Rhett questioned, eyes widened when he looked at the other's plate as they walked by. He wasn't trying to be nosey - okay he was - but he'd realized just a few moments prior that he hadn't eaten today and his stomach was starting to growl. "Not only does it look good but it smells delicious too, can you tell me what it is so I know if that's what I want to try tonight?"
