pirate!carlos who’s the captain of the ‘el fantasma’ ship. it’s his baby, his entire life he spent on this piece of wood floating in the waters of all seven oceans.

you, on the other hand, were the crew’s cook, the only woman on the ship. you only managed to get this role because of your father, who was one of the oldest members on the ship, the chief navigator and captain carlos’ right hand man.

it wasn’t easy being the only woman on the ship. you were lucky that the older men, who saw you growing up from the moment you were born to where you are today, are very protective of you.

one eve, after cooking tons of food for all 100 crew members on the ship and serving the dishes to them in cheap, reusable containers, you made your way to the end of the ship with a tray, knocking on the heavy wooden door with your foot since your hands were full before pushing the door open, walking in with your head down.

“sorry to interrupt, misters, just bringing dinner.” you said as respectfully as you could, walking around the round table in the middle of the room surrounded by the most important members on the ship, placing the food and yet another bottle of rum on the table before turning to walk away. but you felt someone staring at you, it wasn’t something uncommon on the ship, but it feel that intense stare while you were in the commanders’ room?

while closing the door, you felt it again. the same staring gaze burning into you. but this time it was into your eyes… the big, brown doe eyes of captain carlos practically glaring into yours before you closed the door shut. your heart felt heavy, could this stare mean you’re in trouble? what if you’ll be traded for half a dozen of pigs at the next trading spot? or even worse, be thrown into the deep waters of the ocean, with no other human being nearby to save you.

you slowly made your way back to the kitchen, starting to clean up all the mess you made while cooking for the whole day, as well as prepare for the breakfast you have to make tomorrow morning with the break of dawn.

after almost an hour of cleaning and tidying up, the crew members were already drunk and partying just across the wall from you, the sounds of their wasted singing and boot stomping filling your ears. suddenly, a warm, hairy arm snaked around your waist, yet before you could even make a sound a big hand covered your mouth and silenced you.

“shh, cariño… don’t be scared, it’s just me.” captain carlos whispered in your ear, pinning you against the counter. you didn’t even try to protest, instead just humming against his palm. you two were toying around with each other for months. well, more like he was toying with you, but you were very much not against it.

stollen kisses, quick glances, sneaky touches, and secret affairs behind closed doors

he quickly turned you around so that you were facing him, moving his hand away from your mouth to press his lips to yours, his hand moving to cradle the back of your neck.

you returned the kiss, feeling his teeth nipping at your lower lips before forcefully pushing his tongue into your mouth by squeezing your cheeks and fleecing your mouth open. you felt him growling into the kiss, the vibration from his deep voice making you let out a moan of your own.

his hands held your hand still from both sides, one from the back and one from the front. “you don’t understand how much you turn me on, amor.” he murmured against your lips, continuing to attack your mouth with his violent tongue. his hand trailed from your cheeks to your neck, applying a tiny bit of pressure on your throat to restrict your airway for just a moment before travelling his fingers souther, squeezing your right breast from over your dress and making your moan at the sensation, before he trailed his hand even further, placing it behind your back and beginning to untie your tight corset.

“mmfh… carlos…” you mumbled against his lips, his tongue stuck in your mouth immediately silencing you. “no, shh… just let me make you feel good…” he whispered, un-attaching his lips from your in favour of sucking on your neck.

safe to say, by the end of the night the two of you were grateful for the loud music outside the kitchen, elseway you’d have a lot of explaining to do for all the banging heard from the kitchen.

Carlos draws a breath as he visibly hesitates. Aside from the small knife in his boot, Oscar hasn’t held a sword since before boarding the Sea Lion. He doesn’t assume that he’s done enough to earn Carlos’ trust, but he hopes that the risky circumstances will outweigh any concern.

“No weapon.” Verstappen’s voice cuts the silence, and Oscar darts a sharp, accusatory glare over to the Dutchman. Despite his firm grip on the wheel and full command of the situation, his crystal blue eyes lock to Oscar’s. “You’ll have to make a decision. And in that moment, you’ll know what to do.”

I - Has Tumblr caused you to stop liking any fandoms, if so, which and why?

Well…yes. Pretty much all of them lol. I tend to check fandoms out, suss the vibe…and then retreat into my tiny little corner with friends—or the hope that friends will join me eventually. I still love the media, of course, and with care I can still build a following I enjoy. But the fandom at large…*shudder*

Specifically, though—the Supernatural fandom, or should I call it the supernatural-adjacent fandom. The one more concerned with bts drama and shippers’ behavior (and taking shippers’ word as gospel) than the actual show, story, and characters. (As a side note, it amazes me how many otherwise respectable creators on, like, YouTube who are intelligent and articulate and well-versed in their subject areas will get on camera and straight-up lie about Supernatural. What does this show do to people??)

The Teen Wolf fandom at large on here is…very annoying. Aside from the ship wars, there’s a long-running feud between Scott stans and Derek stans, and both sides are bitter and miserable and I just want to talk about Stydia, but both sides hate Stydia. So yeah, I ducked out of that fandom too.

J - Name a fandom you didn’t think about until you saw it all over Tumblr. (You don’t have to care about it or follow it; it just has to be something that Tumblr made you aware of.)

Oh, so many! Cobra Kai first comes to mind thanks to Em, and Naila has taught me all about f1 racing this year. Steph isn’t on here as much anymore, but I know all about 911 thanks to her. Kitsu and Raphael are teaching me all about the Promised Neverland and how awful the anime adaptation is. Oh, and Critical Role! I am still quite ignorant of the second and third campaigns, but Aeru is keeping me up to date via dash osmosis.

And of course I can’t forget Penny’s chaotic liveblogs of Suck Session, BrBa, and now BCS—or should I just call it the Lalo show? (The main reason I’m not tagging all of y’all is because I don’t wanna figure out what Penny’s url is right now)

P - Invent a random AU for any fandom (we always need more ideas).

Well, my mind is laser focused on the golden boys right now, so…

What about an Outlander AU? Alphonse, a combat medic, is thrown centuries back in time into a hostile environment, caught in a war he has no stake in. He meets Edward, a snarky but kindhearted victim of the bloodshed with a missing leg. Al uses his modern knowledge to fashion him a proper prosthesis (automail? Who knows, I’m making this up as I go) and the two develop a close bond.

By the time Alphonse deduces that this boy from the past is actually his ancestor, he’s too in love to care. Further secrets are revealed when Ed discovers Al’s chest bindings and, well…lack of certain male parts. The two may or may not be made to marry by the community Ed is a part of. Will their love disrupt history? Will Alphonse cease to exist? Will they create a new branch on the family tree? Who knows! Definitely not me, I just made this up!

i love au fics. i wish there were more. give me all of the au’s! thank you to all of the authors who have written these wonderful stories and made me go to bed at 4 am!

i likely left out some, so i may add to the list in the future. the stories varied from completed, on-going, and don’t seem like they would see another light of day. some stories may feel a bit ooc, but i don’t think they detract from the reading experience so much (for me they just add to the charm). they’re still well written and a pleasure to read, so i’m including them. ratings are also varied, so please proceed with caution (come on i know you all want the lemon ;) )

a year after your relationship was brought into light, after dealing with all the teasing of the crew members about yours and pirate!carlos’ relationship, you decided to get married on the ‘el fantasma’.

your father, as the captain’s right hand, officiated the wedding. it was beautiful - a gorgeous white dress that you saved for a day like this, despite being a bit torn made you feel special. all flags had been replaced with new ones, food was well prepared, the floor was scrubbed, even the weather cooperated and was warm, but not too warm, despite them being on an island in the middle of the pacific ocean. it was all finished off with a ring, the most beautiful one you’ve ever seen, one that was passed down to carlos from his mother.

both of you went your ways, separating despite not wanting to, but you had to - you know you did.

carlos went to where he hid his gun and sword near the helm. he quickly made his way to the side of the deck where the brits were coming from, and started to attack them back.

“load the cannons! everyone to the left pf the deck!” he shouted, barking orders at his men and commanding on their positions while trying to fight off the british, who unfortunately had already made their way on the ship to a toe-to-toe battle between to the sides.

he stabbed and killed, fighting off three soldiers at the same time while also telling young seaman câmara to watch his back and so he saved the young man’s life.

after a long, tiring battle, the ‘el fantasma’ crew won over the brits they despised, carlos leaned against the railing as he caught his breath, his gun back in its place on his belt and sword still tightly clutched in his hand as he looked around his ship, his eyes scanning over the corpses laying on the floor, most of which were wearing the british red uniform, his mates helping their hurt crew members, but he couldn’t see you anywhere.

“hey, did you see y/n anywhere?” he asked you father when he saw him walking by, to which the older man who walked beside his friend head quartermaster alonso shook his head. “no, I thought she was with you?”

carlos clicked his tongue as he dismissed the old man’s proposition as to where you were, the wheels in his head already turning. “no, I saw her walking to her stand at the front. last time I saw her was with montoya when they were fighting off a squad of those gilipollas…” he said, before his head snapped up and he turned to search for the young seaman he saw in the corner of his eye just moments ago.

“ai, monotya! ven aqui!” he yelled over to him, the young seaman snapping his head to carlos’ direction before quickly jogging over to him.

“yes, captain. how can I help you?” he spoke greedily, visibly excited to be privately speaking with the captain despite being tired form the battle. “last time I saw my wife was with you, where is she now?” carlos spoke harshly, his eyes narrowed as he demanded to know where you were.

carlos’ eyes remained locked on montoya, the young seaman shifting uncomfortably under the weight of the captain’s gaze. montoya’s loyalty had never been in question - he was one of the most eager to prove himself, always willing to fight for the ship, the crew, and especially for carlos. but in that moment, the news he brought shattered everything.

“they grabbed her, captain,” montoya’s voice trembled, his words a soft confession of failure. “they… they overwhelmed us. I tried—I tried to fight them off, but - “he glanced down, the guilt pouring from him. “they took her. they took some of the crew too. I’m sorry.”

carlos felt the words like a punch to the gut. everything inside him froze. “you let them take her?” his voice was low, dangerous. the crackling rage inside him fought against the urge to draw his sword, though not at montoya - no, this was directed at the british. he had trusted montoya with everything, trusted him to help keep you safe.

montoya’s face paled. “I swear, captain, I tried. there were too many. I… I should have done more.” his breath hitched, and carlos could see the fear in his eyes, the young seaman barely holding it together. “I thought they were going to kill her.”

the crew’s attention was drawn to the conversation, heads turning as whispers spread. the british had not only stolen you, but also some of the men, dead or alive. montoya had barely made it through the battle, wounded and defeated, but carlos knew this wasn’t over. not for him.

“find her.” carlos’ voice was cold, his expression hardened. “we’re getting her back.”

“this is it, captain,” montoya said, standing beside carlos as the ‘el fantasma’ sailed toward the british-ruled coast. his voice was steady, but carlos could sense the tension in him. montoya had been the one to piece together the rumors of a governor with a captured wife, of enslaved men who had once belonged to pirate crews. the hope that they might find you alive had ignited something in the young man.

carlos gave a sharp nod, his jaw set. “we burn it to the ground.”

the cannon fire was relentless, ripping through the british defenses as the crew stormed the shore. carlos led the charge, his sword cutting down anyone in his path, montoya never far from his side. together, they tore through the town with a singular purpose - find you. find their men. make the british pay.

the battle raged on as they stormed the governor’s mansion, the heart of british power in the colony. montoya, now acting as carlos’ right-hand man, directed the crew as they raided the mansion, looting anything of value and cutting down any british soldiers or servants that stood in their way. carlos’ mind was focused only on one thing: finding you.

they fought their way up the stairs, montoya covering carlos’ back as they reached the governor’s chambers. carlos kicked the door open, expecting gold, expecting riches, but instead… he found you.

you sat at the edge of the bed, dressed in fine british clothing, your face pale. the sight of you stopped carlos in his tracks. his heart clenched painfully in his chest as you looked up at him, immediately standing up when you saw your beloved, relief flooding your eyes.

“carlos…” your voice was a whisper, barely audible over the chaos outside.

before he could respond, montoya burst into the room behind him, his eyes wide as he took in the sight of you. “we found you…” his voice cracked, a smile breaking across his face despite the blood smeared on his skin from the battle. “we found her, captain.”

but the moment of relief was short-lived.

a gunshot echoed from the doorway.

a body jerked violently, its eyes going wide with shock as they staggered back, clutching at their side where the bullet had torn through them. “no…” their voice trembled, disbelief and pain flooding their features.

carlos turned in horror to see a british soldier standing in the doorway, gun raised. he wasted no time - he drew his sword and slashed the man down, his fury ripping through the air as he made sure no one else would enter the room alive. but when he turned back to montoya, the young man had already collapsed to the floor, blood seeping through his clothes, staining the wooden boards beneath him.

“montoya!” carlos dropped to his knees beside him, his hands shaking as he tried to press against the wound, tried to stop the blood. but it was too much. there was too much blood. “stay with me, damn it! you can’t die here. not like this!”

montoya gasped for breath, his body trembling as he looked up at carlos, eyes wide with fear and regret. “I’m sorry, captain,” he choked out, his voice barely a whisper. “I… I did everything I could. I…”

“don’t you dare apologize,” carlos growled, his throat tightening with emotion. “you saved us all. you saved her.”

montoya’s eyes flickered toward you, his lips twitching into a faint, broken smile. “I’m glad… you’re safe.”

you fell to your knees beside him, tears streaming down your face as you reached for his hand. “montoya, please… stay with us.”

but his breath was already fading. his eyes fluttered closed, and with one final, shallow gasp, the young seaman went still.

the room fell silent.

carlos felt the weight of his loss crash over him, the grief and rage tearing through his chest as he stared at montoya’s lifeless body. the young seaman who had fought so hard to prove himself, who had stood beside carlos through every battle, every raid, was gone.

and in his death, carlos felt the full weight of the promise they had made to destroy everything that carried the british flag.

the crew held a funeral for montoya and the rest of the bodies found from the previous attack at sea, the young pirate’s body lowered into the ocean with the rest of the older corpses as the waves carried them to their final rest.

the moment was bittersweet, with all the kidnapped crew members finally returning to the ship, and the grief of the loss of the already dead kidnapped and the loss of young montoya.

carlos stood at the edge of the deck, his eyes dark with grief as he watched the water swallow montoya’s body.

“he died a hero,” carlos said quietly, his voice rough with emotion. “he gave his life for us.”

you stood beside him, your hand resting gently on his arm, tears in your eyes as you whispered, “he saved me.”

the crew gathered around, their faces somber as they paid their respects to the man who had fought so fiercely for them. montoya’s death was a blow to them all, a reminder of the sacrifices they had made in their quest for freedom.

after the funeral, carlos turned to you, his face softening as he reached for your hand. “we still have something to finish, cariño.”

a small, bittersweet smile tugged at your lips. “we’ve waited long enough.”

and this time, when carlos slid the ruby and gold ring back onto your finger, it wasn’t with the weight of grief, but with the promise of a future. the ring you had kept with you, hidden on your necklace, was now where it belonged - on your finger, where carlos had placed it on that fateful day.

this time, there would be no battle to stop you from saying,

“I do.”

Decided to make a small collage to show you guys the theme of the vibes.

Also, a small apology for taking this long to post the 3rd chapter. I spent these few days coming up with ideas and characters for the story. It surely is draining, but also fun.

Chapter 3

What am I even thinking about?” Charles whispered to himself. He leaned back and slightly banged the back of his head against the wall, trying his best to ward off all the thoughts and nagging feelings of empathy that threatened to surface. “I'm wondering the same.” came a raspy voice, tone filled with heavy fatigue. Charles’ heart momentarily skipped a beat, shocked by the sound, before realizing that it was just Max. “You are awake!” he exclaimed with a mix of surprise. “Like your crazy talk would even let me sleep.” Max rasped out. His voice dripped with exhaustion. But the amusement that always seemed to dance in his voice was still there.
