And they look like common or gardens as babies so others don’t recognize and try to kill them before they grow up
Makes sense
Are Seadragonus Giganticus Maximus nest parasites?
Toothless talks about his mother teaching him things but never mentions that she is really huge. Teaching survival skills to a tiny infant is hard when you are orders of magnitude bigger. Are Seadragons common/garden mimics that switch an egg out for their own? Or do Seadragon babies provide some kind of benefit for raising them? (Like geriatric care, idk.) I kind of doubt a dragon could be "tricked" into believing the egg is their own, they're much more intelligent than say... warblers.

#imagine being a common or garden minding your business when a monstrous dragon big as your island emerges#eyes blazing (literally) and impossibly humongous teeth shining menacingly#as your friends flee you are rooted to the spot by the awesome power of this creature#perhaps your fear has you raise your hackle and hiss#your pupils blown wide#a deep hum rumbles from the horror- sounging like thunder and boiling ocean#you feel faint#suddenly#a wet heap splats at your feet#you eyes snap to the sound and you see a tiny infant#it looks fragile and soft#you see its ears and face flush pink with babbling astonishment#you eyes lock and its pull is so strong it threatens to sweep you under with just its innocent gaze#by the time you break out of its hypnosis (someone really ought to teach it how to control that) you are alone#somehow the great mountain that had appeared on the beach has already disappeared under the waves#a little mewing screech perks your ears back to the- your- baby at your feet#with a little effort it plod up to you and sniffs twice before rubbing aggainst your legs#you could use another child
That is just beautiful...
