I really wanna try building a lathe and a mill since I don't really wanna have to save a grand to get cheap bench models.
I know I won't get better than a hundredth precision but that should be plenty for anything I'd wanna make.
#extruded t-slot seems good enough for all the 3D printer companies so it should be fine#kinda crazy if you think about it these expensive machines are just a bunch of t-slot and a glorified arduino

It’s very stupid that the fancy handkerchiefs that are in expensive suits aren’t supposed to be used.
Like, you expect me to use some sort of sandpapery shit that looks like someone poured hydrochloric acid on it and has been in the wash more times than I can feasibly count, or some disgustingly dry and disintegrating paper tissue that feels like my nose is being drained of nutrients like mistletoe on a dying tree.
While I have a buttery soft, perfectly flexible and odourless hankie, sitting right over my heart in a nice little folded shape?
The hell am I supposed to do, NOT use the option that won’t make my outer nostrils bleed?

Advantages of Single Screw Extruders Over Other Types
single screw extruder machine have established themselves as a preferred choice in the plastic processing industry. While various types of extruders exist, single screw extruders offer unique advantages that make them particularly appealing for manufacturers. Understanding these benefits is crucial for companies looking to optimize their production processes.
Simplicity in Design
One of the primary advantages of single screw extruders is their simpler design compared to other types, such as twin screw extruders. The straightforward construction results in fewer components, which translates to lower maintenance costs and easier operation. This simplicity makes them ideal for manufacturers who may not have extensive technical expertise, allowing for quick setup and operation.
Cost-Effectiveness
Single screw extruders are generally more cost-effective than their counterparts. The initial investment is often lower, and the reduced complexity means that repair and maintenance costs are minimized. Additionally, their energy-efficient operation contributes to lower overall production costs. This cost-effectiveness makes single screw extruders an attractive option for businesses aiming to maximize profitability.
Energy Efficiency
In terms of energy consumption, single screw extruders often outperform other types. Their design allows for effective melting and processing of plastics with lower energy input. This efficiency not only reduces operational costs but also minimizes the environmental impact of production. As sustainability becomes increasingly important in manufacturing, the energy efficiency of single screw extruders is a significant advantage.
Versatility in Material Processing
Single screw extruders are known for their versatility in processing a wide range of materials. They can handle various plastics, including polyethylene, polypropylene, and polystyrene, making them adaptable for different applications. This flexibility allows manufacturers to switch between products without needing extensive modifications to the equipment. Such versatility is particularly beneficial in industries with rapidly changing demands.
Consistent Output Quality
Another key advantage of single screw extruders is their ability to produce high-quality, consistent outputs. The design of the screw and barrel allows for uniform melting and mixing, which is essential for maintaining product quality. This consistency is vital in industries like packaging, where uniformity is critical for consumer satisfaction. Reliable output quality helps manufacturers maintain their reputation and meet regulatory standards.
Ease of Operation and Control
Single screw extruders are relatively easy to operate and control. Operators can quickly learn to manage the machine, making it accessible to a broader range of personnel. The process control systems in modern single screw extruders allow for precise adjustments to temperature, pressure, and feed rates. This level of control enhances the overall efficiency of the production process and reduces the likelihood of defects.
Lower Maintenance Requirements
The simpler design of single screw extruders leads to lower maintenance requirements compared to more complex systems. Fewer moving parts mean there is less that can go wrong, resulting in reduced downtime for repairs. Regular maintenance tasks are also easier to perform, allowing operators to keep the machines in optimal condition with minimal effort. This reliability is crucial for maintaining production schedules and minimizing disruptions.
Applications Across Various Industries
Single screw extruders find applications across multiple industries, including packaging, automotive, and consumer goods. Their versatility allows manufacturers to produce a wide range of products, from films and sheets to intricate components. This broad applicability enhances their appeal, as companies can utilize a single type of extruder for various production needs.
Conclusion
In conclusion, single screw extruders offer numerous advantages over other types, including simpler design, cost-effectiveness, energy efficiency, and versatility. Their ability to produce consistent output quality and ease of operation makes them a preferred choice for many manufacturers. As the industry continues to evolve, the benefits of single screw extruders will remain crucial for companies looking to optimize their production processes and meet the demands of a competitive market

Different Types of Extrusion Machines
Extrusion is a fundamental manufacturing process that finds application in nearly every industry manufacturing object with uniform cross-sectional profiles. It involves pushing or drawing material through a specific die to give it the shape required. The applications of extrusion machines include plastic pipes and metal profiles, extending into food and pharmaceutical areas. Due to the increasing demand for accuracy and efficiency, extrusion machines have evolved to address the various materials and needs of production. This article will discuss the different types of extrusion machines, especially their unique mechanisms and applicability in diverse industries.
Direct (Forward) Extrusion Machine
The direct or forward extrusion machine is the most widely used type in the extrusion process. Usually, it is placed into a chamber through a billet or plastic resin material. Then, the hydraulic or mechanical press presses the material through a die to mold it into the desired shape. Since the ram and the material move in the same direction, it is called "direct extrusion."
Direct extrusion is extensively applied to the mass production of long, continuous products with uniform cross-sections, such as metal rods, pipes, and plastic sheets. Such machines by the extruder manufacturer are remarkably efficient at mass production, especially in applications in the automotive and construction industries. Due to this, it's often the first choice for most applications requiring long uniform products because of its relatively simple design and high speeds in the process.
Indirect (Backward) Extrusion Machine
In contrast, in indirect or backward extrusion machines, the material flows in the opposite direction to that of the movement of the press. There, as opposed to a direct push of material through the die, the material is moved around the die; therefore, it has less friction from the material and the chamber.
Indirect extrusion is best applied on softer materials. These machines made by an extruder manufacturer are also aptly used for producing hollow or tubular types and cylinders of seamless pipes. This process has less friction, which tends to reduce energy consumption and hence less wear on the machinery; thus, it is economical for specific applications in industry.
Hot Extrusion Machine
Hot extrusion is also a process where the material is heated above its recrystallization temperature before the extrusion process. It is required for more complex, brittle materials when they cannot be shaped at room temperature. Heating this material softens it and makes it more pliable, with less chance of fractures and defects when extruded.
Hot extrusion is applied extensively by industries processing the harder metals, such as steel, titanium, and nickel alloys. Many latter materials are utilized under heavy stresses for aeronautical, military applications, and heavy machinery. In this regard, the capability to shape hard materials and produce complex profiles in hot extrusion makes it a valuable technique for manufacturers who demand more stringent materials.
Cold Extrusion Machine
Cold extrusion machines are completed at room temperature, sometimes a little above. Such a process is often utilized with softer metals such as aluminum and copper but may also be applied to steel and other alloys. The cold extrusion method is considered one of the best processes for making parts with high precision and excellent surface finishes.
The auto industry widely employs cold extrusion for manufacturing gear blanks, cylinders of shock absorbers, and other similar parts that call for high precision. Since the material is strain-hardened, its strength increases. Therefore, it can be used effectively in applications requiring durability and strength, another advantage of cold extrusion.
Conclusion
Extrusion machines from Supermac have become flexible enough to meet all materials and production requirements. From the most conventional, such as direct and indirect extrusion, to the most specialized, such as hydrostatic and friction extrusion, each machine type has inherent benefits concerning the sort of material being processed and the application. Such extrusion machines are crucial to ensure manufacturers optimize their production processes and achieve efficiency and precision in delivering quality products.
