COFFEE PM: 4 WAYS TO ENJOY COFFEE AFTER HOURS
Tumblr media
Lots of people enjoy a nice hot cup of coffee in the morning. Maybe it’s a simple black coffee on the way to work, or a piping hot Americano with plenty of cream and sugar. Either way, it’s a “pick me up” to start the day off right.
But what if you crave the bold taste of coffee in the evening? Here are four ways to enjoy coffee after hours in both beverage and food form.
Decaf Coffee This first suggestion will seem obvious – drink decaffeinated coffee. Still, we bring it up because it is the essential building block to late-night coffee beverages. But what is decaffeinated coffee? How do they remove the caffeine?
The decaffeination process starts with green, unroasted coffee beans. The caffeine is then extracted using a chemical solvent or, in some cases, a process of water and osmosis to draw out the caffeine. This is an oversimplification, but it works for our purposes.
Unless you are looking to pull an all-nighter, decaf coffee is the way to go.
Luxury Coffee Cocktails & Nightcaps So, you want a late-night coffee drink without the energetic buzz. We can understand that. But how do you feel about a boozy buzz?
Coffee cocktails and nightcaps are a great way to relax in the evening. You just can’t beat the complex taste of coffee and liquor. While there are dozens, if not hundreds of cocktail recipes, here are a few favorites to get you started.
Café Mocha Shakerato. This is an easy drink to make, especially if you use decaf luxury coffee pods from a brand like Caffé di Artisan since they don’t require a brew machine. Start with 2 ounces of strong coffee, add 1 ounce of simple syrup, and 1 ounce of chocolate syrup (Monin brand works best). Toss the ingredient into a shaker with ice, and vigorously shake until there is a nice froth. Strain the beverage into a glass and enjoy.
Spanish Coffee. Start with 1 cup decaf hot coffee, ½ ounce of rum, and 1.2 ounce of vanilla coffee liquor. Pour into a glass mug, top with whipped cream and garnish with a cherry. Delicious!
Affogato: Something Special on Top
Affogato is one of life’s simple pleasures. It’s espresso poured on top of another dessert, thus marrying the essence of bitter with sweet. It’s a match made in heaven all right.
While the most popular form of affogato is espresso coffee poured over vanilla ice cream, there are numerous ways to make your desserts extra special with the addition of coffee. You can add espresso to a bowl of tiramisu; add a drizzle of mocha or caramel sauce if you really want something special. Or pour hot espresso over flan just before adding whipped cream and cinnamon on top. Yum!
Desserts: Cooking with Coffee
Speaking of desserts, another spectacular way to enjoy coffee in the evening is by including it in your baking. Again, these are just a sampling of recipes to try. Feel free to get creative. After all, what is more fun than desserts with coffee?
Coffee Kahlua Brownies. We hope you like cocoa flavors, because this recipe is full of ‘em. Start by pre-heating the oven to 375. The rack should be 1/3 up from the bottom. Grease a 9x13x2 pan with butter. Melt 8 ounces of unsweetened chocolate with 1 cup of unsalted butter (tip: it helps to chop up the chocolate for quicker melting) in a separate sauce pan over low heat. Once even, set aside to cool. In a large bowl, beat five eggs before adding 2 cups sugar, 2 tablespoons liquid coffee, 1 tablespoon vanilla, and ½ teaspoon of salt. Mix until even. Next add 2 cups flour and mix into a batter. Next, combine 2/3 cup hot coffee (decaf) with ¼ cup Kahlua into a separate bowl, mix gently, then add to batter. Pour the batter into the prepped pan and heat in oven for about 35 mins. Cool at room temperature, and enjoy.
Decaf Coffee Fudge. Start with a tin of condensed milk (~400 g), 150 ml regular milk, 115g unsalted butter, and 450g fine sugar. Mix these ingredients together in a large saucepan until melted. Be careful to avoid chunks of sugar in your mixture. Turn up the heat to boiling, and simmer for 15 minutes; stirring gently, but continuously. This will keep the bottom of your fudge from burning. Pour the mixture into a bowl. Add 2.5 tablespoons liquid coffee and beat for 10 minutes. The result should be a caramelly thickness. Pour the contents into a lined, flat dish. Make sure the top is nice and even while cooling. Once solid, cut into squares, adding a single coffee bean to each piece for presentation. And there you have it: Coffee fudge.
We bet you never knew coffee was so versatile. So, go ahead, try one of the above suggestions to enjoy coffee in the PM.

Welcome to my new series…food-related of course…I was challenged way back at the beginning of this year by Pete…who suggested that maybe I should use ingredients and cooking methods where the letter used, for example, was the last letter i.e Pizza(A)…
On reflection, I think it was a good idea although how I will fare when I get to some letters I am not sure if it will be doable but I will give it a good go… I am not one to back of if challenged…hehe
Today it starts with Bicarb(B)
Bicarb – Also known as Sodium bicarbonate, aka baking soda…Baking soda tends to be the American name, while in the UK and in Australia we tend to call it bicarbonate of soda (Bicarb).
Bicarb, or baking soda, is an alkali that is used to raise soda bread and full-flavoured cakes such as gingerbread, fruit cake, chocolate cake, and carrot cake. It needs an acid (as well as moisture) to activate it so is often combined with cream of tartar, yogurt, buttermilk, or milk.
Bicarbonate of soda gives off carbon dioxide, which expands in a mixture. Once the mixture is cooked, the carbon dioxide is replaced by air, leaving a light cake or bread.
As with all raising agents, use the amount specified in the recipe. Adding extra bicarbonate of soda can result in a peaked or collapsed cake, a strong unpleasant flavour, and a greenish tinge.
Carob –  I have just learned something I thought carob was another name for cocoa well it isn’t…Carob powder and carob chips are similar to cocoa powder and choc chips in colour, however, carob is less bitter and has a naturally sweet flavour.
It is also caffeine-free and higher in fibre…It can also be used as an alternative to cocoa powder and by adding coffee it will also taste like chocolate.
Carob bean juice can also be used as a safe and effective way to treat diarrhea in children.
Crab – Who doesn’t love a crab sandwich or a crab curry? I know I do … There are thousands of different types of crabs that are divided into over 850 species. Most varieties of crab have a hard outer shell (called an exoskeleton), 3 walking legs on either side of their body, and 2 pinching claws.
Of course, like other foods, there are always the more popular of the species which we love to eat…King crabs are one of the most common and best types of edible crabs due to their large size and delicate taste.
Of the smaller crabs, the one which is very popular here are Blue crabs which are a type of swimming crab that have 2 paddle-like feet to help it swim. In fact, its scientific name literally means ‘beautiful savory swimmer.’
Crumb – a very small piece of bread, cake, or biscuit…which has many uses it can be used to coat meat or fish or as a sprinkling with some cheese on top of an au gratin…
Biscuit or cake crumbs can be used as a fruit topping or toasted and used to top ice cream or as a decoration for a dessert…So whatever you do don’t waste anything like this as it can be made into crumbs…
Corncob – the part of the maize plant on which the grain grows…
A popular and tasty vegetable which can be boiled, baked, BBQ’d…Cut from the cob and made into creamed corn, or eaten as a side or a topping for a jacket potato it is very versatile, plentiful, and tasty…
Curb –delivery (food industry term):      The practice of delivering an order in bulk to the pavement in front of a retail store; or from the tailgate of a truck to an adjacent platform
Herb – A Culinary herb, which is available fresh or dried, include basil, bay leaf, chervil, marjoram, mint, oregano, parsley, rosemary, sage, savory, tarragon and thyme. Used for their aromatic properties, flavour, and texture.
Hobnob- A New World style of wine that is evenly balanced, fruit-forward, with a rich mouthfeel and hints of oak. 5 popular varieties – Pinot Noir, California Chardonnay, Merlot, Red Blend, and Cabernet Sauvignon. …
Hobnob is also a biscuit/cookie …It is the brand name of a commercial biscuit. They are made from rolled oats and jumbo oats, similar to a flapjack-digestive biscuit hybrid, and are among the most popular British biscuits. McVitie’s launched Hobnobs in 1985 and a milk chocolate variant in 1987. Wikipedia
Honeycomb- A honeycomb is a mass of hexagonal prismatic wax cells built by honey bees in their nests to contain their larvae and stores of honey and pollen.
This is my lovely fresh honeycomb…
Honeycomb is also a lovely sweet which can be covered in chocolate crunchie or used in desserts…
Made with golden syrup, sugar, and bicarb it is fun to make and although very sweet good to eat as a treat or stir some through your ice cream.
Ingredients:
butter, for greasing
200g caster sugar
5 tbsp golden syrup
2 tsp bicarbonate of soda
Let’s Cook!
Butter a 20cm square tin.
Mix 200g caster sugar and 5 tbsp golden syrup in a deep saucepan and stir over a gentle heat until the sugar has melted. Try not to let the mixture bubble until the sugar grains have disappeared.
Once completely melted, turn up the heat a little and simmer until you have an amber-coloured caramel (this won’t take long), then as quickly as you can turn off the heat, tip in 2 tsp bicarbonate of soda and beat in with a wooden spoon until it has all disappeared and the mixture is foaming. Scrape into the tin immediately but be careful as the mixture will be very hot indeed..be careful…
The mixture will continue bubbling in the tin, simply leave it, and in about 1 hr – 1 hr 30 mins the honeycomb will be hard and ready to crumble or snap into chunks.
Enjoy!
Kebab- I love a good homemade kebab either formed around a skewer and then cooked on the BBQ or if I am making chicken kebabs then I use lemongrass as my skewers and then they impart a lovely lemon flavour. or marinate your meat and skewer it with onions and peppers and pop on the barbie…
or make your own kebab meat like I did the other week and make your own pitta with love green chilli peppers.
Lamb- A meat I cannot always get here and to my way of thinking lamb, if it is lovely spring lamb, is best eaten with jersey royal potatoes and fresh peas and beans…
Rhubarb –A perennial plant with thick red stalks and large green leaves that are poisonous. The stalks have a tart flavor and are often used in pies and tarts. My favourite rhubarb pie and custard.
They do have absolutely glorious looking leaves but never ever be tempted as they are poisonous to eat…
Scab – Causes rough scabby patches on the potato skin and the flesh underneath. It is unsightly and can affect storage potential. Any potatoes with scab should be used quickly.
Shrub – An old-fashioned sweetened fruit drink, sometimes spiked with liquor which seems to be having a revival over recent years. All you have to do is make a flavoured vinegar for wonderful drinks with soda and ice or with cocktails…
Sparerib – The long cut of meat from the lower breast bone of the hog. Spareribs are best cooked slowly so that their fat can be rendered and they can become tender.
These were absolutely delicious…finger bowls required and a bib…
Squab –  is a young domestic pigeon, typically under four weeks old, or its meat. The meat is widely described as tasting like dark chicken.
Syllabub – An English dessert comprised mainly of whipped cream sweetened with sugar and flavoured with sherry, brandy, or Cointreau. Lemon zest, fruit preserves or puree may also be swirled into the cream.
That’s all for this week see you in two weeks for the letter C (organiC)
Please stay safe as it seems in some places lockdowns are being introduced again…not good xx

Mixing Vape Juice And The Perfect Juice Concoctions.

Mixing Vape Juice And The Perfect Juice Concoctions.
Creating your own unique and original flavors by Mixing Vape Juice
We believe that mixing vape juice is something that any vaper should feel comfortable doing. We at lunar-vape want everyone to feel like creating their own custom juices can be effortless and rewarding. After reading articles such as, Best vape juice flavors to mix, we thought we could add some of our own ideas into the mix. We hope to help everyone from the beginner vaper, to the seasoned veteran find something that keeps vaping feeling new and exciting.
At first, when people think about mixing vape juice, the concept can be fairly daunting. It can really be overwhelming when you consider measuring out and mixing all the correct ingredients and flavourings. Having to mess around with big bottles of PG and VG can become quite a pain. Especially when you consider the bottles of flavouring as well. If this is something you wish to do, check out this article for some insight on where to start (http://vaping360.com/how-to-make-diy-e-juice). However, you can achieve even better results by mixing existing flavors together instead. Resulting in the creation of your own brand new and original flavors. Mixing vape juices this way is effortless. It also means you can create juices that are perfectly customised to your own taste buds.
Why mixing vape juices might be ideal for you
Mixing Vape Juices together can be one off the easiest and most effective ways to breathe new life into old bottles of juice. Additionally, it can improve your flavor palette at the same time and create exciting new flavors. Many of us have many bottles of vape juice that we don’t wish to use. Vapers can often grow tired of a flavor as we draw closer to the end of the bottle. However what I began doing, was trying to find the perfect combinations of vape juice. Finding flavors that worked well together and complimented each other. Rather than accepting that I was tired of them and moving on, this was the perfect way to get the most out of my juices.
Change your mind set when mixing vape juices
The key to mixing vape juices is putting yourself in the correct mindset. You don’t only need to think about the why you like that flavor of vape juice. You also have to see the potential for improvement. For example, Pinkmen is a sweet, candy, pink jelly bean flavor. It is a simple flavor and not too loaded with sweeteners. This makes Pinkmen an excellent juice for mixing with other flavors. Menthol, fruits or other candy E-Juices will mix well if chosen correctly. I personally mix Pinkmen with a Purple Ice Cubes to make an incredible combination. The subtle sweetness of Pinkmen mixed with the intense mango and blackcurrant menthol creates a heavenly concoction. These two flavors, when mixed together, create a perfectly balanced juice. The flavors come together to create something truly unique and interesting. It’s like no other individual juice and unlike anything else you’ve tasted before.
Juices that serve as an ideal base flavor for mixing vape juice
There are a range of flavors that are perfect base juices for mixing. Glazed donut would be an ideal for making your own custom donut flavored juices. Just thinking about making my own lemon tart donut gets my taste buds jumping with excitement.
Something like Crispy Mallow for the Doodles range of juices is an excellent base flavor for mixing vape juices. Sweet sticky marshmallow flavors like this would mix well with another dense flavor such as Blueberry Cheesecake from the same range as neither are so strong that they overpower the other but will marry well and create a delicious sticky marshmallow and blueberry cheesecake. Crispy mallow is a rice crispies marshmallow flavor. As you can probably imagine, it is an excellent juice for creating your own unique flavors. The possibilities are endless with a juice such as this.
Other suggestions of mixtures with this particular Doodles crispy mallow could include: Toffee milkshake, coffee cream and apple crumble. These are just a few examples. Imagine a delicious marshmallow and apple crumble with toffee custard. Mixing more than two juices together is an adventurous way to create your mixtures that are perfectly matched to your taste.
Mixing vape juice to create a perfect menthol combination
If you’re a fan of minty or menthol flavors, you could use peppermint cream or snowballs from our brain chill range to create your own custom menthol based flavors. Think about combining your favorite fruity flavor with a sweet, minty menthol to create a flavor combination that will have you jumping in anticipation for your next chance to vape it. Similarly, double bubble mint would be a great minty flavor for that extra bit of sweetness to use as a base for your sweet and refreshingly minty fruit mixture.
Unfortunately, when it comes to menthol combinations, you’re probably limited to fruity or candy flavors to mix with. I, personally, have never had the guts to try mixing menthol with something custard or something along those lines. Probably not the most appealing of flavor combinations, but who knows, everyone has different tastes and it might work for you as an individual. If you do happen to try something like that and it actually works out to be a nice juice, let us know. Who knows, Maybe it’s an undiscovered miracle juice.
Mixing Vape juice for the ideal breakfast vape
Want something to vape in the morning to go with breakfast? why not try vaping your own unique pancake juice by combining doodles pancakes with caramel cream pie, or maple syrup? The pancake flavor could match perfectly with fruity flavors such as blueberry or red berries. Make it a morning to remember. Similarly, you could combine the thick and delicious taste of marshmallow smores with your favorite fruit based flavor to create a creamy and mouthwatering fruity marshmallow mix.
I like to mix these two ideal base flavors of marshmallow smores and pancakes (both from the doodles range) to create a magnificent marshmallow pancake, while also mixing it with a bit of toffee milkshake. This makes for a deliciously creamy and delightfully tasty mixture, perfect for the mornings. It also satisfies my hunger for actually eating this kind of combination. Needless to say if i didn’t have this juice to vape, i wouldn’t be eating to healthily right now.
The possibilities are endless when it comes to mixing vape juice
Ultimately, there are en endless amount of combinations you could come up with. Try a variety of juices and it might inspire you to come up with your own unique mixtures. Try to find an ideal base flavor and think about what would you could marry it with to create your own perfect juice combination. Give it a try, no chemistry sets are required and you still get that feeling of satisfaction when you create something truly original. If you come up with any fantastic mixes, we would love to know. Leave some suggestions in the comments section and let others know about the combinations you came up with. It’s all about having fun, getting the most out of your juices and your vaping experience in general. Enjoy! we hope to hear from you soon. Check out our other articles on mixing vape juice in our vape juice mixing category.
