This is genuinely going to sound so weird lmao but i stumbled across this blog a few days ago and it kinda made me into a 00q shipper except i’ve never seen even a MINUTE of any bond movie which is……… sure okay i’ll ship these two men i know nothing about
gonna let you in an a secret *gestures you closer*
when I first got into 00q years ago, I literally had not meaningfully seen any of the Bond movies either LMAO (I think I might have seen Skyfall in theaters when it came out? but that would years ago again even from when I got into 00q)
like I think I was into Man from UNCLE at that point maybe and was like, I need more spy content. ...00q should do it. -and then, like, brute-forced my way into the fandom just by diving into fic via AO3 and going from there lol. Like, I figured I could probably pick up the highlights - or at least the highlights-according-to-fandom - via direct immersion anyway, and this would get me my fix (fics) faster than like sitting thru the movies first lol. maybe I pulled up some/a Bond & Q clip on youtube? can't remember (it would have been the National Gallery scene if it was anything)
and honestly? maybe a controversial opinion but, that doesn't NOT work, you know what I mean? cuz it's valuable to have first-hand canon knowledge to form your own opinions and stuff (and esp if you are gonna engage in any sort of analysis or meta on the text, -unless you're planning to do a more meta-metatextual analysis on fanon as metatext vs trying to extrapolate that per se back to the text sight unseen),
BUT I also hold to my theorem of fandom being a form of, like, analog *oral tradition*, and so like the iterative (/collaborative) storytelling aspect is also a central... tenet? feature? of fandom which sort of allows you to engage with the iterations before you, and also to further iterate on them yourself, without necessarily HAVING to trace the lineage of the storytelling all the way back to the source before you can start engaging with the collaborative iterative storytelling effort we sort of do in fandom.
but yeah lol taking off my amateur armchair anthropologist hat... 😃 a warm and hearty welcome on behalf of the rest of us here in 00q I suppose lol (a possibly-dubious option tho I may be as a representative of our whole), please enjoy the fun (at large) and lowkey chaotic madness (here specifically)
