Edith Finch Timeline

So I'm still organizing my theories (honestly they're more like a list of unanswered questions than a coherent theory right now) but I think my timeline is pretty much complete now that I've had a chance to go back through the pet cemetery and add all those in.

I do some wild speculating about Odin here that has no canon basis, just spinning ideas.

Things to notice- Just how many deaths happen on or very near birthdays. Not always the birthday of the person who dies and not every time, but suspiciously often.

The pets almost seem to fill in the years when no one human died? Like everything in this game it's nothing definitive enough to base a solid theory on, but it is odd.

TIMELINE

1439 - Earliest possible beginning of the Finch Family Curse based on the Odin viewmaster reel, as this is 500 years prior to the invention of the first viewmaster.

1445 - If the Odin viewmaster is the Model E made in 1955 (which I think it is), this is the start of the curse instead. Not much is happening in Norway during this period, but Vlad the Impaler was at the top of his game this year?

1880 - Odin is born. At some point between now and his death he writes "The Mysteries of Death and the Thereafter" and "Joining the Great Majority" which both appear to be books about the afterlife.

1896 - Heroic Age of Antarctic Exploration begins with the Belgian Antarctic Expedition and won't end till after WWI. Expeditions are marked by depression, starvation, insanity and scurvy. Many famous expeditions are made by Norwegian teams. Odin is 16.

1911 - A Norwegian expedition is first to reach the South Pole. The British Scott expedition chasing the same goal are lost. Odin is 31.

28 July 1914 - WWI begins, Odin is 34. Norway, "The Neutral Ally", remains neutral on the war but due to economic pressure from Britain commits its merchant marine fleet (one of the largest in the world) to Britain's service. Half the fleet is sunk and 2000 seamen are killed. If Odin was a sailor, he likely served. Alternatively, he may have been one of the wealthy merchants who profited greatly during the war. He clearly has a great deal of money to burn by 1937.

June 17 1915 - Sven is born.

April 8, 1917 - Edie is born.

1935 - At some point between now and Dec 1937, Edie and Sven marry and Sven takes Edith's last name.

1936 - Ingeborg and her newborn Johann Finch die in an unknown manner. Odin is 56, Edie is 19, Sven is 17.

Jan 7 1937 - Odin sets sail for Washington.

Dec 1937 - Arrival on Orcas Island, death of Odin at 57. Molly is born, on the boat? In the Old House? Sven and Edie build the cemetery, and then the house.

1938 - Churpy the budgie joins the family.

1939 - Invention of the viewmaster, earliest point the Odin story could have been recorded.

Sep 1939 - Sep 1945 - WWII. Sven was 24, and may have served or been drafted.

1940 - Burpy the house finch joins the family.

1941 - Churpy dies.

1947 - Christopher the goldfish joins the family.

Oct 31 1947 - Halloween Baby Barbara

Sometime between 1937 and 1947 - Molly's unnamed gerbil joins the family.

Dec 13 1947 - Molly dies of apparent poisoning after eating mistletoe berries, on or very near her 10th bday. She relates hallucinating having become several animals, most notably a cat. Christopher the fish dies shortly after. The fate of her unnamed gerbil is unrecorded, as none of the unattributed headstones are of the right age, but presumably it dies eventually.

1948 - Burpy dies at 8.

April 25 1950 - Sam and Calvin are born.

Aug 26 1952 - Walter is born.

1952 - Lurpy the Cockatiel joins the family.

1955 - Viewmaster Model E released- If this is the one used for Odin's story, that puts the beginning of the curse at 1455.

1956 - Lucy the dog joins the family.

1959 - Bailey the (???) joins the family.

Oct 31 1960 - Barbara dies, allegedly murdered, on her 16th bday. Her boyfriend Rick disappears the same night. The version of her death shared in the game is notably extremely unreliable and raises numerous questions. Rick is seen in a leg cast using crutches. Walter is 8, Sam and Calvin are 10 and notably absent from reported events.

Sept 23 1961 - Calvin dies at 11 falling from a cliff. He is seen wearing a weathered and heavily autographed leg cast. His model shows him with a black eye and several cuts.

1962 - Zoe the (???) joins the family.

1963 - Lurpy dies at 11. (Cockatiels have a life expectancy of 20-25 years)

Aug 26 1964 - Sven dies on Walter's 12th bday, while making a dragon shaped slide. He's 49.

1968 - Walter enters the bunker. He's 16. Durpy the Dove joins the family.

May 7 1968 - Dawn is born.

1969 - Lucy the dog dies.

June 20 1969 - Gus is born.

1970 - Zoe dies

1971 - Purply the Budgie joins the family.

1974 - Coco the (???) joins the family.

Jan 12 1976 - Gregory is born

Dec 7 1977 - Kay files for divorce after arguing with Sam about the curse.

Dec 19 1977 - Gregory drowns in the bath a month before his 2nd bday

1978 - Shadow the cat joins the family.

1979 - Purply dies at 8.

1980 - Rob the Bearded Dragon joins the family. Bob the Snake joins the family.

1981 - Durpy dies at 13.

1982 - Oliver the rabbit joins the family.

Nov 8 1982 - Gus dies, crushed by debris from a storm during Sam's wedding to an unnamed woman.

July 16 1983 - Sam dies, kicked off a cliff by a deer. Dawn is 15.

1984 - Bob dies at 4.

1985 - Daisy the (???) joins the family.

1986-87 Dawn goes to India, meets Sanjay.

1988 - Shadow the cat dies.

Dec 27 1988 - Lewis is born. Furpy joins the family. Tucker the (???) joins the family

1989 - Oliver the rabbit dies.

1991 - Rob dies at 10. Furpy dies.

1992 - Zurpy the Owl joins the family.

May 19 1992 - Milton is born.

1993 - Charlie the cat joins the family. Daisy dies.

1994 - Durpy Jr the Dove joins the family.

1995 - Zurpy dies at 3. Schatzi the (???) joins the family.

Feb 14 1999 - Valentine's Baby Edith. Lowest tide in a thousand years allegedly allows Edie to access the Old House. At some point between now and Nov 2010, three unnamed gerbils join the family, and then die.

Feb 22 2002 - Sanjay dies in an earthquake, eight days after Edith's 3rd bday, Dawn and children return to Finch House. Dawn writes "To Teach and To Learn" at some point in the next few years. At some point between now and 2010, Dawn probably finds a stray cat and names it Molly.

Oct 23 2003 - Milton disappears.

Late 2003 to Early 2004 - Dawn searches for Milton, eventually gives up and seals the rooms for unknown reasons.

March 31 2005 - Walter leaves the bunker and dies, allegedly hit by a train. There are several strange inconsistencies surrounding the circumstances of his death.

2006 - Durpy Jr dies at 12.

2009 - Schatzi dies

Nov 21 2010 - Lewis dies of apparent suicide one month before his 22nd bday.

Nov 28 2010 - A week after Lewis's death, Dawn informs Edie they are leaving the house. After Edie attempts to give Edith a book containing a story about their family which Dawn violently rips away, Dawn flees the house with Edith immediately, leaving Edie and all her belongings behind.

(Molly the cat is not mentioned in regards to the move, so she may have died by this point, but she is not listed in the graveyard, so it's possible she was simply left behind. There is a taxidermy calico in Sam's room, but Sam was dead before Molly could reasonably have joined the family, so this is unlikely to be her. A cat is seen outside human Molly's room in 2016, which may prove she's still alive- but she'd be around 14 years old. An unlikely age for a cat abandoned outdoors for 7 years.)

Nov 29 2010 - Edie is found dead by nursing care workers, and may have killed herself by combining alcohol with her medication, intentionally or otherwise. She's 93, the only member of her family to live longer than her father, who died at 57.

Dec 5 2010 - The date on Edie's tombstone, a week after when she supposedly died.

May (around the 12-18th?) 2016 - Edith becomes pregnant.

Oct 12 2016 - Dawn dies of a chronic illness at 48. Edith is 16 and about 6 months pregnant.

Oct 13 - 19 2016 - Edith returns to the Finch House at 22 weeks pregnant.

Jan 18 2017 - Edith dies in childbirth a month before her 18th bday. Christopher is born (possibly named for Molly's goldfish?).

2027? - At some point in the future, a young Christopher returns to the house, which has changed since the last time it was seen. He is wearing a cast.

A note on unrecorded pets- There are additionally 5 (possibly 6?) unmarked pet graves in the cemetery. One of the blank stones presumably belongs to Rob the bearded dragon, who has a memorial in Edie's room but no gravestone. One is marked as a fish and another is a rabbit, with no names or dates. One is a knocked over and unreadable sign of the same kind used for the birds, indicating it may be an otherwise unrecorded bird. There is also a statue of a frog- the knocked over sign may instead refer to an unrecorded pet frog, or the frog statue might be a separate gravestone, or simply a decoration. This leaves one blank headstone with no indication of what might lie beneath it. Let's assume it's a mass grave for gerbils.

The current expeditions indicate to be working better. More successes and the teams return more often. Yet the times have not improved. The goal given for this new test is to increase the stability to 11 minutes. Given the QC shows sign of uncertainty it is of upmost importance to ensure the portals are done within times of quiet. Between the openings there should be a two-day wait period.

Summary: 

When Magister Dorian Pavus' expedition meets unexpectedly with a clan of unhappy Dalish elves, First Taren Lavellan may be the unhappiest among them. Unhappier still to be put to the task of helping to see his quest through. This is the tale of how a fortnight in the forests of the Free Marches can change everything.

Chapter 27: A Promise Made

Snippet: 

The paths of the forest opened before Taren like easy green curtains. The wind was with them, the weather too. Dark clouds sat heavy in the distance, but above them the skies were but a misty grey. The morning damp and fog lifted into a shady humidity beneath the cover of the trees, calling the insects to bite, but the way was clear. They followed the line of the cliff’s edge back to the point where the buried entrance of the ruin had collapsed, and then on towards the east, where hunters and horses should have been coming around in full circle to meet them. Progress was swift, easy, and in the correct direction. 

It didn’t make any sense. 

At midday Taren conferred with Aldheraen, asking him to etch their marks into the trees before they marched on. They should have come upon the hunters’ tracks by now. The Imperial highway’s rubble of an overgrown road was not far off. They should already have come upon their men, their horses. 

Taren listened to the air, still and quiet. He sent up a flare of bright magic as the sun began to set.

The Terror: When, How, Where... (PART 1)

See part 2 for the end of my sanity (ep 6 through 9. Wasn't enough characters left on the post for ep 10)

As I am writing the fic, I was getting frustrated at trying to figure out the timeline of the expedition. More specifically, what happens after they dropped the Victory Point Note.

Therefore, in order to organize my ideas, and also because it might be of interests to some of you, I will document here what I got.

Episode 1 through 5 for now.

Methodology

If we agree that the showrunners (and Dan Simmons to an extent) made their research, we should be able to match some of the event of the story with notable point of interests where artefacts and/or remains were found over the numerous searches made to ascertain the fate of the Franklin Expedition

I also tried to take note of all indications of time passing so that I might document their speed travel and the dates when they are not mentioned.

... And the death count. (Departing Beechey Island with 24 officers and 102 men)

Finally, I also used the following website to keep track of sunrises and sunsets: https://www.timeanddate.com/

1927 Admiralty Map

I may be an amateur in this kind of research but I find myself frustrated that the most complete map I've been able to find showing all that was found between 1850 and 1926 is shown on this map from 1927

To be noted, we now know that the Skeleton of H. Peglar was more probably W. Gibson or T. Armitage

The Skeleton of Lt. Le Vesconte has also been reevaluated and is now believed to be that of Harry Goodsir ( :( )

Also, as it happens, if we compare to 2024 maps, we can say that this is not the actual shape of KWI (close enough!).

Therefore, for my own sanity, I recreated with modern maps. Is it accurate? Well, I wouldn't publish it but I think it gives a good enough view of where they went and where they were going:

Matching the Show

Episode 1 - Go for Broke

Location 1 - David Young's grave (71.22, -96.60)

Date: September 5th 1846

David Young was buried 7 days before they were beset in the ice (see point 3 on the map below).

During the dinner in which we were regaled by the tale of Mr. Fitzjames' Holes, Franklin discuss that they were approaching a bigger channel, which is now know as the McClintock Channel (see point 1 on the map below), meaning that at the time, they were still in the Franklin Strait.

On the day after his death, Franklin discuss their next course and assure that they must be 'nearly in sight of KW Land'. Crozier suggests it might take them weeks to actually make it to KWI. This would confirm what was infer above.

As we can see the two ships fitting in a cozy little cove while the grave is being dug, I would like to propose Point 4 on the map below as Ficitonal David Young's final resting place, on Tasmania Islands

Well, for this one, we need to use the extrapolation provided by the 1927's Admiralty map by tracing the line from where the ships were known to be in 1847 and 1848 (Point 5 and 6). (see point 3)

From the ships, Gore lead his party to James Clark Ross' Cairn.

Now, in the Show, they found JCR's Cairn without an issue. In reality, while Gore had found the Cairn just fine, Crozier and Fitzjames did not. One of the reason for it is that JCR had, apparently, made a miscalculation in reporting where he had erected the Cairn by several miles. Honestly, the way that Fitzjames had written the words was so confusing, I appreciate that the show made the whole thing so much simpler, ahah. So let's say that it matches what we know now as Victory Point. Easy Peasy! (see Point 2)

To be Noted, we know the dates of departure from ships and arrival at cairn from the Victory Point Note.

The Camp was raised just beyond the ice ridge that blocked the way form the shore and the Cairn was only a mile or so away. (see Point 3... hidden between point 2)

Episode 5 - First Shot the Winner, Lads

More fun in a bottle. These boys are not going far...

Honestly, for this one, the trouble was figuring out how much time had passed. For one, we know it's not yet Christmas because Christmas is, in fact, mentioned in Episode 6 (And Lady Jane's Christmas Pudding, hear hear) as part of the meeting between the officer and there was not yet a cooperation between the Terror Lts and Fitzjames for counting the supplies.

ALSO! That scene where Mr. Wentzell got killed dead over his nail... well, it gave me the feeling that either the review of the crew is not daily or that they've been on Erebus for a short time because 1) Fitzjames doesn't know their names and 2) He has to repeat the instructions about cleanliness... Perhaps they sent the Terrors in waves and not all 50 of them at once.

Other details to be mentionned:

Hickey is not recovered yet and Goodsir suspects he might reopen his wounds from working.

Goodsir has had time to be quite good at speaking inuktitut. Now, he could have had a continuous learning experience from Dr. McDonald since June 47 and before but considering that Dr. McDonald is stationed in Terror and Goodsir in Erebus, I suspect they did not have much time to have a class together...

Finally. Crozier suggests that he would be 2, perhaps, perhaps more... sick from sobering up. He got up just in time for First sunrise (Jan 17th).

So! We can infer that the episode might have spanned over 1 or 2 days (what's with the movement between the ships and the whole Rat Wedding).

My best guess is that the dates for this whole episode would be:

Date: December 14th 1847 to December 18th 1847

Why December 14th? Because it would be Edward Little's Birthday and I feel like it is appropriate for his character to have his boss send him back to the killing cold for more booze :') (December 16th to December 20th seems more likely but...)

This would give Crozier a full month to recover from sobering up and 22 days for Goodsir to learn inuktitut (impressive!), for Hickey backside to feel better and for Fitzjames to NOT learn the name of his new Terrors.

Conclusion to the first sets of episode: Sunsets and Sunrises were whacky in June 1847 but, so far, distance and travel times make good sense. If the accuracy holds up until episode 10, we might be able to have a pretty good idea of what, when and where everything happened in episodes 6 through 10.

Taras Shevchenko sketched the excavation of an ancient Scythian mound

Yesterday we undertook an expedition to the Perepyat memorial complex in Kyiv region. Few people know that Taras Shevchenko participated in the excavation of the ancient burial mound.

The barrow is part of a group of 57 barrows known in the literature of the ХІХ century, located on the chronicle Perepyat field. The barrow of the Scythian time Perepyatikha was excavated in 1845. The excavations were led by N. D. Ivanishev. T. G. Shevchenko took part in the excavations as an artist.

DESIGN PRINCIPLES:

Auseq have fully coloured bug eyes that can be changed to any color and shape, occasionally having more than just two eyes. They have antennae that have little baubles at the end that can be changed by color and shape. They have fur tufts on their neck that can be any color and have different patterns. Their skin is always pure white, but they have a stripe on their forehead that is the same color as their eyes and baubles. All Auseq blood is coloured gray.

Auseq outfits consist of those before Earth 1980, with clothes like sweater vests, greaser jackets, barbershop quartet outfits and more.

AUSEQ CULTURE:

Names can be any length, but must include either x y or z, and their last name must have the same letter count as the first.

The hierarchy is structured on a simple monarchy with a royal family, with those in power being those with inherent strength in specific categories, each corresponding to a different letter in the species name.

The categories are:

Allure - People skills and charisma

Undergoing - Pure endurance and stamina

Strength - Self explanatory

Expedition - Agility and speed

Quick-wit - Intelligence and craftiness

Any Auseq can be proficient in any number of these, which causes jobs to be distributed in different ways. Someone proficient in expedition is able to do delivery jobs better by being faster, and an Auseq with good quick-wit is better at research and other jobs requiring a higher brain capacity. Even Auseq that aren’t proficient in anything can still get a job. Jobs like cashiers and painters are usually preserved for Auseq without proficiencies to allow Auseq with proficiencies to do other jobs more suited to them.

The highest position in Auseq society is the Monarch, which you can only be if you have proficiency in everything. The thing is though, there can be multiple Monarchs at once that command the same place. Previous Monarch’s offspring have a much higher chance to be proficient in everything, making it so royalty is usually just one bloodline, but any random Auseq can be the Monarch. The most Monarchs there have ever been in Auseq society was 4; 2 royalty, 1 random Auseq and 1 previous Monarch that was still hanging on.

Auseq mature at 15 human years, and the longest one has lived was 57, although the higher undergoing an Auseq has the longer they can live.

Auseq reproduce asexually, by planting a seed contained in their stomach. Seeds must be planted in close proximity to natural foliage designated as birthing spots as they give nutrients to the soil through their roots. Once an Auseq reaches a certain age they will spit out the seed, allowing them to plant it into the ground and create a new Auseq.

While the baby Auseq is growing, the only thing that you can see is one of their antennae sticking out of the ground. Rather than being grubs or babies while they are young, Auseq don't sprout until they are about 4 in human years.

ROMANCE:

Auseq have very little gender differences, and since the way they reproduce is not gender reliant, Auseq don’t really care to figure out what gender they are after they are born.

Auseq romance is split into three overlapping sectors. Love, respect and hate. These three sectors intertwine to make four more, with it being as such; love & respect make admiration, respect & hate make deference, hate & love create ambivalence and all three make chaos.

Rainbows are very integral to Auseq culture as each color represents a different form of romance. Red represents love, blue represents hate and yellow is respect. Their combinations correspond to the color combos of their designated colors. Chaos is represented as white, or light itself, as it refracts into all other relationships.

Those proficient in allure more commonly are in part-love relationships, whereas those in quick-wit and expedition tend to be in respect focused ones. Hate is commonly seen in those who are undergoing or strength proficient, though all relationships are available to any Auseq.

First of all, yes, I didn't reblog this post, and I'm very touched you wanted to listen to my opinion anyway, thank you so much T^T

As for your question, sorry, it took me a few days, since I was thinking about various scenarios which were in my head, and tried to distinguish all the thoughts from one tight knot of brainstorm, so I can answer your asks properly. Apologies for taking so long T_T

I decided to focus on that canon-divergence idea where Armin actually confronts Annie of being a Female Titan earlier than that day in Stohess.

In this scenario, both AruAni had more of the show-case of their feelings for each other in the past: they didn't talk properly about their relationship, however the long evenings together in the library, longing gazes across the room, comfortable silence when they felt the most safe, even one time a hug that were out of bitter despair - from Annie's side, after one of her night missions and after she was almost caught by Kenny or by some guards, so when it happened, all she felt was to hide, even for a moment, from everything. When she saw Armin - always caring, considerate and looking out for her - her exhaustion took over her and she hugged him, trying to convey in her helpless grip all the confused and stormy feelings she wasn't sure herself, and yet, she knew that to get lost in his embrace, at that particular moment was what she needed the most. There was no vocalized "what are we" moment, but the connection they shared was too strong to let it simply fade.

So, when the time comes, and their ways part, they both made a promise - to write each other the letters. It was Armin idea, almost like a plea - and Annie felt the sour taste on her tongue to say "No" to him, not when her heart screamed about the same and her soul begged for her to say "Yes", but instead, she just nodded, not able to mutter the word, to make it even more real that it already was - in her heart, it was already blooming, the young flower with the bluest petals, the name of which she didn't know, so intense and so alive, that she knew if she would water this flower with any proper promise, with any visible weakness, these petals would just choke her to death - death of the Warrior Annie Leonheardt, and instead, there would be just Annie, someone she didn't know at all. Just Annie was a stranger for her, terrifying and so foreign. Warrior Annie won the battle this time. But Just Annie won the war, as she would learn it much later.

All this time apart, they exchange letters - or better say, Armin wrote to her, like he promised, even sending her one day a small flower with the bluest petals so strangely reminding her the one that was growing inside her heart, and wrote to her that "it reminded me of you". And so Annie broke, writing him in response - she tried her best to distance herself, not to attach too much, but it was already too late. So when, the 57 expedition happens, she saw Armin for the first time after their ways parted - she hoped that the distance would help her, and even if there were letters between them, the physical distance made her believe that she's doing just fine. So when she sees him like that, removing his hood, looking at her with not the caring - and she even realizes, loving gaze of his - it also terrifies her to feel the strong, acute ping in her heart. "Since when did you start looking at me with these eyes?", she thought, and her massive fingers simply unclasped from his green hood, and she runs away. Something, she used to when she's not strong enough to face something she doesn't understand, but as she runs away, the Earth trembling under her titanic feet, all she could think that she could cross oceans and mountains all around the world outside the Walls of Paradis, but she would never run away from herself.

After all the mess that happens during the expedition, Annie return to her room, Hitch no in sight. Annie feels utterly broken and devastated from everything, lost and lonely - she failed to capture Eren and return to home; she failed to be a "good friend" to Armin, looking at the pile of letters of him, and remembering that she sent him only two or three; she failed to be a Warrior. She failed to be even herself because she simply doesn't know what to do anymore, with nobody on her side.

So when Armin comes deep in the night, Annie feels like she's seeing a ghost - she couldn't just believe to see Armin Arlert - out of all people, dammit! - in her window, his breath heavy and chest raising with every deep inhale he tries to swallow, his cheeks flushed - probably from climbing - hair messy. And it strikes her. It strikes her just how much she missed him, and how big of a fool she is.

But Annie doesn't fall into his arms. She does what she knows the best - confront. Attack. Stay aside. Stay indifferent. Don't show anything. She tries. But Armin pleads, and asks her to talk to him.

Annie feels like she is in the corner with nowhere to run, she knows HE knows, and just but the habit, she takes her ring, the pointed blade already out.

But she doesn't have a possibility to cut herself. Armin envelops her hands with his - suddenly, she realizes, bigger than hers - his blood flowing on her hands, as he presses his palms into hers.

"Annie, please. Let's talk. We didn't even have a possibility to talk."

And it breaks her. The same words Marco said to her, to Reiner and Bert, when she was removing his ODM gear.

It was the last drop for her.

She didn't say too much to him that night. She just asked him, "What do you want from me?"

He said nothing. Except for, "I just want to understand you, Annie. Always did."

What comes next - is a difficult process of proving herself to Paradise forces. She is in prison, she has a lot of interrogations, and Armin by her side. Never leaving her. Always listening to her and trying to understand, like he said. One day, she learns that he put himself as a "guardian" of her, he said that if she would turn away from them - he would pay with his life.

She realizes that he believed in her much more than she has ever believed in herself.

All this time, there's a lot of pining. Tension. Unspoken feelings that are now more difficult to hide. Eventually, she becomes the part of Survey Corps, working with Paradisian, in total secret from the society, just the small bunch of trusted soldiers.

I will stop here because otherwise it would turn into a very big longread, but I think it's quite enough for canon-divergence, heh.

Eren had managed to sneak out of his room in the basement and exit the castle to see Optimus sitting down in his bipedal mode and looking up at the stars. The teen quietly hissed at him to get his attention, and the titan turned his attention to him. Eren smiled and waved before running up to the titan. Optimus offered his servo, and Eren quickly climbed into it. The Prime then raised Eren to his shoulder, and the titan shifter climbed on and got in a comfortable position.

Eren started doing this habitually before the expedition. He would sneak out at night and ask Optimus secrets and questions about the world and the worlds beyond. Optimus would tell him more and more about the world beyond the walls, and Eren would eagerly listen, fantasizing about exploring these sights with Armin and Mikasa.

However, as Optimus continued telling of his knowledge, he felt a strange shift on his shoulder. He looked over to see Eren was lying down on his side on his right shoulder. His eyes were closed, and his breathing had slowed down. The boy had fallen asleep on his shoulder.

Optimus gently carried the boy in his servos before setting him down on the ground. He transformed into his alt mode before activating his holoform. He picked Eren up without waking him and carried the teen on his back into the castle. Optimus walked down the halls and stairs towards the basement, being mindful to avoid anyone that was still up at night.

Once he reached Eren's room, he carefully pushed the door open and walked over to his bed before setting him down. Optimus saw that Eren was still asleep and breathed a small sigh of relief. He walked over to the door and shut it before deactivating the holoform, letting Eren rest for the rest of the night.

Thinking about how Erwin was only commander for about five years (845 - 850) and Hange was only commander for four (850 - 854).

I honestly wonder what the average tenure was for a Survey Corps commander. Erwin's predecessor, Shadis, survived long enough to retire from the position, but that was likely a very singular occurrence.

Assuming the survey corps existed from the beginning- which I don't think is likely, I think it's more probable that the military was two divisions for awhile before the survey corps began- that's 104 years max at the beginning of the series proper. With 13 commanders and 56 expeditions in that time frame. (They embark on 57 in season 1) That ratio alone implies an average tenure of 8 years, which can't be completely accurate with Shadis as the long standing outlier.

I'd wager it's likely the survey corps only existed for a portion of that 104 year time frame though, fighting their way into existence as technology advanced and curiosity about the outside world bloomed. Expeditions were probably far and few between at the beginning as well, given the low count.

The average is probably actually lower, but eight years... and neither Erwin nor Hange made that.

I did the general strategy outlined in these frenzy notes with some additional key points: - Luck: I managed to group the first wave of mobs and so killed them pretty quickly - In wave 2, when frenzy mob was near death (around 50% 1x HP), I used resonance on both mobs in order to finish off the frenzy mob and also break the other mob's shield at the same time, buying me more time - Killed wave 2 by 1:40 time remaining - Luck: In wave 3, by the time frenzy was near death, dragon happened to dash to where frenzy was, so I used resonance to finish off the frenzy and break the dragon's shield at the same time - My second oath happened to align when dragon's shields were down - Kept using active skill on the dragon during its shield lock state - Didn't have to use my third oath within the last few seconds
