so cooper has . or more like had. weird gender baggage where he was kind of just defaulted to being raised as a guy bc thats all thala knew how to handle. whereas in ocean society usually hatchlings are raised as neutral and they get to choose their own identity . cuz fish people (their species doesn't have a name rn) are all like. biologically the same and instead choose their own social roles (which can change whenever they feel like it)

he like. briefly questions this when in the ocean empire but ultimately comes to the conclusion that yeah he's a guy he just wants to come to that conclusion himself rather than having it instilled on him since hatching

A fish hybrid who resides in SMPLive. Tries to present himself as laidback and chill, but tends to worry easily and get himself worked up. Mischievous and can be a bit of a brat. Unsure of his place in the world. A literal fish out of water.

Raised by his adoptive father to fear and hate the ocean. Unlearning that.

Works as an assassin like many others in SMPLive, gets a lot of jobs due to his experience and specialized skills. Highly skilled at creating undetectable redstone traps.

Concerned with the law when it benefits him, disregards it when it doesn't.

Uses his tail to express body language. Also uses it as a third arm to an extent - primarily just for pointing things out and pushing things out of the way.

Had a business rivalry with Connor selling ice until he got bored.

Absolute lightweight when it comes to alcohol.

Expandedverse: Species Notes

Non-exhaustive, but some notes on the more common species :)

Nether Demons: The main race inhabiting the Nether. They are not really demonic entities, just humanoids who have evolved to survive in the Nether. The form they take is fixed, and can vary from looking extremely non-human (like Bad) to looking only slightly different from your average human (like Kara). Notable individuals: Bad, Kara, Eryn (hybrid)

Trickster Demons: Shapeshifting demonic entities who can take on any form, but usually choose one unique form to represent themselves. Rare, and stigmatized, they will often try to blend into society. Their true forms are more stereotypically demonic - spade tails, bioluminescence, horns, dark sclera, etc. Notable individuals: Tina, Travis, Grunk

Seafolk: Humanoids with aquatic characteristics - usually fish-like, but they can be dolphins, axolotls, etc as well. They are capable of living on land, but need to be considerate of different living requirements and accessibility. They are a single-sex race and gender identity is chosen as a coming of age thing, and is also flexible. They can be found everywhere, but are native to the Ocean Empire. Notable individuals: Lizzie, Jimmy, Cooper, Sally

Avians: Humanoid bird hybrids with small stature and large wingspans. Like seafolk, they come in all shapes. Their small bodies and hollow bones allow them to be more agile in the air, having less wind resistance than the average human. They live in pretty much every corner of the world. Notable individuals: Phil, Quackity, James

Sheepfolk: Shapeshifters who have two forms - anthropomorphic sheep, and sheep humanoid. Their anthro forms are usually short and fluffy (just think about Rammie). They inhabit the overworld and aren't limited to any one area. Notable individuals: Puffy, Schlatt, Mikey

Not a species, but a note on non-demonic shifters: they are only capable of shifting between two forms - typically one humanoid and one non-humanoid. They are either born into a race with this ability (like sheepfolk), inherit it through genetics (like Fundy), or are gifted the ability by a deity (like Connor).

Full Name: Timekeeper Connor XD Schlatt

Species: Hedgehog shifter

Age: 18 (AF/FW era), 20 (SMPLive canon era), 36 (Post-canon DSMP era)

Orientation: Bisexual (no preference)

A hedgehog shifter originating from Dream SMP, created when XD took a liking to a normal hedgehog and decided to turn it into a humanoid to watch over timelines. Was raised into the job of timekeeper, didn't really want it so ran off to SMPLive on his 18th birthday. Only returned to Dream SMP on his husband's request.

Awkward and somewhat skittish, will stick to anyone he knows closely. Can easily manipulate situations if needed. Retains his time travel capabilities.

Now aligns himself with the Anarchist Syndicate, and has managed to succeed in reviving his late husband, who begrudgingly sticks with the Syndicate despite disagreeing with their values.

Trans identity is complicated - prior to XD finding him he had no real concept of gender since it's a human social construct. XD gave his humanoid form a stereotypically feminine name and appearance based on physicality which Connor didn't appreciate, and XD is really weird about being wrong so that was one of the big conflicts that led to Connor leaving.

In SMPL, sells ice at Spawn City in addition to running Schlatt & Co. Has a brief rivalry with Cooper over this.

Turns into a hedgehog when extremely frightened or overwhelmed.

Has a lot of animalistic traits beyond what you would typically see in a hybrid due to his weird status as a transformed animal. Most of his body language involves his ears, as well as his quills, which make up his "hair" and run down the back of his neck.

Skipper was... Not planned. It's a bit of a long story. She was born in early SMPLive era and would be about 13 or so in post-canon DSMP. (I mainly just wanted an excuse to make a Schlonnor fankid because my mutuals had really cute DSMP fankids and I wanted in. She'll probably get her own bio eventually.)

Uses rings to time travel by bending the fabric of reality to create time portals. His time travel abilities are kind of inspired by a mix of the rings used as portals in various Sonic media as well as the time travel mechanics of Sonic CD.

INFP 7w8, Neutral Good

A trickster demon that resides in SMPLive. Outgoing and friendly, but also tends to be somewhat distant and secretive. Has a lot of deep-rooted guilt about who he is as a person. Tries to present himself as non-threatening, oblivious and carefree. Under the surface, he is highly observant and emotionally intelligent.

Works in construction on commission for other server members.

Connor I read all of your current Expandedverse fics and they were so good! Your fics have caused c!Connor to become one of my favorite characters, both his canon and au versions! I think it fits that he'd be the previous timekeeper, and you wrote it in very well!

(The series also prompted me to binge watch all of Cooper's SMPLive videos and I'm debating watching Timedeo lol)

another idea i've been spitballing is travis and xornoth. i think they need to have some sort of connection. i want to give travis more of an actual importance to the empires setting in af/fw rather than just being cooper's emotional support tagalong, and travis being a demon in expandedverse means i can use xornoth for this purpose. but i'm not really sure what i want to do with them yet

ACTUALLY on second thought i think i associate carousel more with expandedverse!travis. it mirrors how i associate fish whisperer with cooper :P

to be clear, i would view expandedverse more as a rewrite than any kind of interpretation / headcanon. while i try to keep canon events generally intact, a lot of the details are so widely separated from canon such as cooper's lineage tying into empires s1 and connor's god parentage that i don't think calling it a headcanon timeline would be very accurate

sophie is probably c!george’s age. notably want to point out that nobody aged DURING smpearth since it was a simulation!

josha20 and chip are both artificial intelligence, so they are ageless.

lizzie and jimmy are both ageless, but developmentally like 40s and 30s respectively. joel is probably in his late 30s-early 40s.

sammy is the same age as purpled, astelic and wallibear are a bit older. 80 is the oldest of the group, and is about the same age as c!sapnap.

squid is in the same boat as his rival.

velvet is the same age as c!ant.
