Exo having long distance relationship
(OT9 EXO) / I wrote a piece for Chen because this is for entertainment only, it won't interfere into his real life and marriage.
Suho

Suho, approaches the long-distance relationship with responsibility and care. He makes the effort to maintain constant communication, scheduling video calls and exchanging messages throughout the day. Despite the distance, he dedicates himself to planned visits whenever possible with his agenda. Suho also uses his creativity to surprise you, sending handwritten letters and gifts to your house. He believes that trust is key, so he always makes sure to be transparent about his routine and feelings. Even on difficult days, Suho maintains a positive attitude, encouraging you to follow your dreams, showing that distance is not an obstacle, but an opportunity to grow individually.
Lay

Lay is emotional and expressive, and long distance makes him feel even more. He uses music as a way to connect, composing songs to express his feelings for you. He has voice recordings, sharing melodies that he created with you in mind. For him, every call is a chance to strengthen the bond, and he always tries to include special moments, such as virtual dinners. He is very sensitive to your emotions and takes the time to understand how you feel by asking open-ended questions and listening carefully.
Xiumin

Xiumin is practical and organized, which helps him deal with the distance. He created a calendar to make sure they connect regularly, setting fixed times for calls. For him, routine is important, as it brings comfort in the midst of longing. He also likes to make little surprises, such as sending typical food from the city he is in or products that he knows you love. He makes effort to make you feel loved and valued, even from afar, by sending motivational messages and making plans for the future. Xiumin’s easy-going demeanor helps him stay calm during difficult times.
Baekhyun

Baekhyun is spontaneous and fun, and his approach to long-distance relationships is full of humor. He loves making funny videos to send to you, always trying to make you smile. The calls are filled with laughter, and he strives to create memories even from a distance. Baekhyun often uses social media to share moments from his daily life, including you as a part of his life. He dedicates himself to planning unexpected visits, to show up in your door and making each reunion special. Despite the lightheartedness, he is also honest about his emotions, ensuring that both of you share their fears and insecurities.
Chanyeol

Chanyeol, with his optimistic and creative spirit, approaches the distance with enthusiasm. He uses his passion for photography and videos to document his days, sending you glimpses into his life. Chanyeol tries to make each message a fun experience, using funny filters and effects. He organizes virtual game nights, where you can compete and have fun together, even when apart. Chanyeol is also very kind, always asking how you're coping with the distance, he is a great supporter and never lets you feel lonely.
Chen

Chen is the romantic one of the group, and the distance makes him express his feelings even more. He sends songs that he composes or that have a special meaning for them, using art as a way of connecting to you. Chen dedicates time to writing composed letters, full of emotions and promises. He makes a point of remembering important facts and always planning celebrations. Conversations with Chen are deep and meaningful, allowing both of you to share fears and hopes. He believes that each challenge brings a new opportunity to strengthen the relationship and never fails to express his love, even from afar.
Kyungsoo

Kyungsoo is practical and introspective, and the distance brings out his more reflective side. He prefers calmer and deeper conversations, focusing on the quality of communication. For him, the most important thing is sincerity, so he doesn't hesitate to share his concerns about the relationship with you. Kyungsoo creates small rituals, such as reading the same book at the same time, to feel like you are together, even if virtually. He is also quite attentive, always making a point of asking about your day and offering emotional support. Distance, for Kyungsoo, is a test that he believes you will overcome together.
Kai

Kai is intense and passionate, and his approach to the long-distance relationship reflects this. He often expresses his feelings visually, sending artistic photos of his routine and videos of dances that he has done. Kai loves surprises, so whenever he can, he sends gifts that capture special moments. He is quite a romantic, often writing poems dedicated to you. Even when missing you is difficult, Kai tries to keep the relationship light, making jokes and creating fun moments during calls.
Sehun

Sehun, with his easygoing personality, tries not to let the distance weight him down. He uses humor and sarcasm in his conversations, making calls light and fun. Sehun likes to catch you off guard you with unexpected messages and memes, creating a relaxed atmosphere. He makes an effort to show that he is always present, even if it is virtually, by participating in online activities together, such as binge-watching series. Sehun is also quite protective, always asking how you're dealing with the longing. Despite the jokes, he is honest about his feelings and is committed to making the relationship work.

Sehun as your boyfriend
- i’m back (i’m posting this and disappearing again for a year)
The Beginnings:
He’d be so awkward in the most endearing way, running his hands through his hair and fumbling around you.
I think he’d ask you out in the first week of knowing you, he’s a busy man has no time for waiting around.
Plus he’d be worried that someone else would catch your attention if he waited too long so...
Would probably ask one of the boys to talk to you first, have them hype him up and see whether you might be interested.
He thinks this is very clever and discreet but funnily enough you know what’s up when Chanyeol starts talking about Sehun’s shiny hair and his family’s long history of genetic health.
He strikes me as a bowling man. First date would definitely be bowling and then maybe heading to a latenight diner splitting a milkshake omg
After dating a while:
Orange cat dad, definitely. I will not explain.
He’s very patient, always willing to listen to anything on your mind - even if it’s about him.
His relationship with you would help him to mature.
I hope you’re patient too though cos this is still Sehun, man is goofy.
A lot of childish teasing, stuff like turning the lights off when he leaves the room or leaving the door open forget what I said about maturity actually
Not the jealous type. He thinks you’re the most gorgeous person in the world but you also know how to handle yourself if anyone tries to rizz you up.
Most he’ll do is throw an aggressive side-eye their way.
Loooves to treat you. That necklace you admired? Here you go. The restauarant you want to try out? Already booked a table. The vacation spot you’re desperate to visit? Get ready the plane leaves tonight.
On that note, he is the opposite of an airport dad, pack his passport for him and get him one of those toddler leashes head empty no thoughts
For your anniversary he’d do something lowkey and romantic, driving you both out to the countryside with a big blanket and spending the night stargazing together.
Habits and other shit:
Always goofin, would consider back and forth banter as flirting, you’ll have to be able to keep up with the sass.
This might lead to little spats here and there but since they’re not serious you can make up quickly.
If it ever came to real arguments he’d need to leave for a while to clear his head, take a walk with the dogs before coming home to stutter an apology.
He struggles to communicate seriously sometimes but he always wants you to know he adores you.
You’d both get into hiking, especially with having the dogs. They’re a great way to spend time together, productively but still somewhat intimately in remote hiking spots.
Speaking of intimacy, he loves to cup your chin and pull you away from whatever your task is for a soft kiss, and then he goes back to his day afterwards. Does this multiple times a day, it still melts your heart.
He might be a little messy to live with but he makes up for it by doing things like grocery shopping, cleaning the cars, and other out-of-the-house chores.
He’s not clingy in the traditional sense, but he wants to be around you all the time. You both often end up sitting together silently doing your own thing, like together-alone-time.
Dates:
This man loves any kind of beverage, so be ready for coffee dates, bubble tea dates, bar dates. Give him a yummy drink and you his yummy s/o and he’s happy.
Maybe more active dates, like skateboarding or paddle boarding in the summer.
Gym dates.
As previously mentioned, bowling. Idk he strikes me shoot me as a very competitive person and so it’s the perfect activity for him.
*NSFW warning minors go away with peace and love*
Sex:
He’s usually a pretty collected person, very in control of his actions and words.
Not when it comes to you though >:)
When it comes to sex, he gets desperate and messy, leaving clothes all over the apartment and kissing you like he craves you mm cos he does
Loooves to use his fingers on you, he gets a little cocky being able to get you off with just one hand.
Favourite position is definitely doggy so he can really grip your hips. He can also smack your ass, pull your hair, pin you down, just a great many positives in this position.
This man can move those hips so best believe he’s got the stamina to keep going for a looong time.
Equally, sometimes he gets overly excited and desperate for you and he cums early lol i stand by that this is a compliment
Dw though, he’s got long fingers and an eager tongue.
A lot of groans, light moans, dirty talk is a must telling you how good you take him omfgfg
Loves to shower together afterwards
All in all, a relationship with Sehun would be the definition of young, dumb and in love. He values you more than anything else in his life and will always go out of his way to spoil you where he can, knowing that you do the same for him. It’s truly like dating your best friend, and you cherish every moment.

Exo reactions to you catching a cold and brushing it off like it’s a nothing.
You had been working overtime all week to meet a tight deadline, with barely any time for rest. Despite your exhaustion, you kept pushing through, determined to finish your tasks. A few nights before you came down with a cold, you were attending a concert. A good breeding ground for viruses.
A few days later, you woke up feeling drained, but stubbornly went to work anyway, convinced that it was just a little fatigue. As the day went on, you noticed a scratchy throat, a slight cough, and a stuffy nose, but you didn’t think much of it, assuming it would pass. By the time you got home that night, you were completely wiped out and finally admitted to herself that she was sick. You refused to let it stop you from carrying on with your routine, brushing it off as something minor.
Despite feeling the weight of exhaustion settling in, you didn’t want to let your friend down. You had promised to go out to dinner with them, and so you pushed through, pulling on a cute outfit that would make you look presentable, even if you didn’t feel your best.
You arrived at the restaurant, the warm atmosphere and delicious smells greeting you at the door. Your friend had already snagged a booth by the window, and as you walked toward them, you tried to put on a smile, pretending like you felt fine. But the moment you entered the restaurant, something was off. You were a little slower than usual, a little quieter, your energy drained from both the cold and the constant grind of the past few days.
You slid into the booth across from your friend, trying to appear as normal as possible, they immediately started prying:
Reactions:
Minseok
Noticing you sit down with less energy than usual
“Are you feeling okay? You look like you’re about to collapse. Did you rest enough today?”
You: “I’m fine, just a little tired… nothing serious.”
Minseok: Gently reaches across the table to touch your hand
“Don’t lie. You look really drained. You shouldn’t have come out if you’re feeling this way.”
You: Softly smiles
“I didn’t want to cancel on you.”
Minseok: “I would’ve understood. Let me take care of you tonight. You can relax, I’ll handle everything.”
Junmyeon:
Noticing your fatigue, Junmyeon quickly leans in with a serious expression
“You really should’ve stayed home. You’re clearly not feeling well.”
You: “I’m fine, I’m just having some allergies.”
Junmyeon: “You look as pale as a ghost.”
You: “It’s just a cold, really. I’ll be fine once I get some sleep.”
Junmyeon: Gently rubs your arm, his voice filled with concern
“I know you’re strong, but this isn’t just about getting through the day. You’ve been working non-stop for days. You’re physically exhausted. Let me stay with you tonight. We’ll just have a quiet evening, and I’ll make sure you get proper rest. No more work, no more stress. You’ve done enough.”
You: Softly laughs
“I feel bad… you came out for dinner.”
Junmyeon: Softens and gives you a reassuring smile
“Don’t worry about that. Your health is more important. You deserve to relax and recharge. I’ll even make sure the food comes quickly, so we can head home early and let you rest.”
Yixing:
Noticing you don’t seem like yourself, his voice softens with concern
“Are you okay? You don’t seem like yourself.”
You: “I’m fine, just a little cold.”
Yixing: Puts a hand on yours gently
“You’ve been working too much. Let me go home with you tonight, I’ll take care of everything so you can rest.”
You: “I think I should’ve canceled I didn’t want to worry you.”
Yixing: With a kind smile “I’m glad you didn’t, I really care about you. Just focus on getting better, I’ve got you tonight.”
Jongdae, (friend reaction):
Giving you a look that mixes concern and a hint of worry
“You’re really not okay, are you? You should’ve just stayed home.”
You: “It’s just a cold, nothing to worry about.”
Jongdae: Leans in with a soft smile
“You need to slow down.”
You: Trying to brush it off
“I didn’t want to disappoint anyone.”
Jongdae: Shakes his head
“You could never disappoint me. You’re probably as stubborn as my children.”
He teases
Baekhyun
Noticing the exhaustion in your face, his smile fades
“Hey, you look awful. Why didn’t you just stay home? You’re clearly not feeling well.”
You: “I didn’t want to let you down.”
Baekhyun: Leaning closer with a concerned expression
“You’re no good to anyone if you’re sick, especially if you’re pushing yourself like this. Let me spoil you tonight, no arguments.”
You: “I’ll be fine after some rest.”
Baekhyun: Sighing
“I’m not letting you go home alone. We’ll make sure you’re comfortable tonight.”
Chanyeol:
Noticing how sluggish you’re moving
“You look like you’re about to fall asleep on the spot. Are you sure you’re okay?”
You: “I’m okay, just a bit tired from everything.”
Chanyeol: smiling but with concern in his eyes
“You shouldn’t be pushing yourself like this. Let me take care of you tonight, okay?”
You: “I didn’t want to disappoint you.”
Chanyeol: Leaning forward with a wink
“You could never disappoint me. Let’s just relax tonight, no stress. I’ll take care of everything.”
Kyungsoo
Looking at you with quiet concern
“You don’t look well at all. What were you thinking, pushing yourself when you’re like this?”
You: “It’s just a cold, nothing serious.”
Kyungsoo: “You look miserable. You should have stayed home and rested. I’ll take care of everything tonight.”
You: “I didn’t want to be a burden.”
Kyung: Shakes his head, voice soft
“You’re not a burden. Let me take care of you. No work tonight, just rest.”
Jongin
Noticing your sluggish movements and tired expression
“Hey, you’re really not looking your best right now. Why’d you come? You look like you’re ready to faint.”
You: “I didn’t want to cancel, I promised.”
Jongin:“I get it, but your health comes first. Let me stay with you tonight. We’ll take it easy, I promise.”
You: “But I didn’t want to disappoint you.”
Jongin: Gently smiles
“You could never disappoint me. You’ve already done enough by being here.”
Sehun
Noticing your slower movements and tiredness
“What’s going on? You look exhausted. You should’ve stayed home if you’re this sick.”
You: “It’s just a cold, I’ll get over it.”
Sehun: Playfully but seriously
“You’re never getting over it like this. You need rest, not to push yourself.”
You: “I didn’t want to cancel on you.”
Sehun: Gives you a reassuring smile
“You didn’t cancel. You’re here, that’s all that matters. Now, let me spoil you a bit, okay?”

Hellooo!! Okay so I was thinking about a make out/dry humping session of chanyeol and gf reader. Thank u 🩷
i hope you like it <3 It was a rainy afternoon and you were taking a nap inside while chanyeol was doing god know what with zzar. He had tried to wake you up a few times but had finally let you sleep unbothered. You wake up from a somewhat loud thunder and at that moment chanyeol comes in your shared bedroom and sits on the bed. It was a boring afternoon but you had some ideas that involved the sexy giant who was wandering around the house. “c’mere give me a kiss” You pulled him on top of you and giggled. He wraped his arms around you careful not to crush your very small figure (compared to him). You reached up to kiss him and he immediately kissed you back. You ran your fingers through his hair and up and down his well sculpted arms hoping he would take the hint, which he did. He broke the kiss and looked at you with a smug smirk on his face “you wanted a kiss huh? You sure you dont want more?” “mm i dont know. What more could i want?” you knew acting clueless would get him even more in the mood. With that said he pushed the covers off of you revealing your thin pyjama set and started kissing your neck. “i love it when you wear these” he said while running his hands all over your body squeezing your waist and your boobs. He pushed your shirt down kissing your cleavage and sucking bruises, his other hand reaching down to your inner thigh to open your legs. You wrapped your legs around his waist pulling him down over your body. He pulled from you chest for a moment looking at your eyes and came up to kiss you. His hand now more impatient squeezing every part of you he could. You were running you hand uo and down his back, arms, shoulders and front. You decided to go further down south and noticed how he was getting hard and you palmed him through his thin sweats. He pushed your hand off of him and pinned it to the bed. Chanyeol pulled his face from your and started grinding into your clothed heat. You let out a breathy moan and he groaned. “like this baby?” “mhm keep going please” he kissed you neck and started grinding harder into you. Feeling his hard length rub over your core was amazing and the clothes added more friction. You could feel your pussy dripping wetness and clenching around nothing. Chanyeol was making the most amazing sounds, your name coming out of his mouth in breathy groans, hot breath fanning over your neck. He was hot and you could see sweat formin on his forehead, his body on top of yours, you couldn’t help imagine him naked thrusting in and out of you making you moan his name. You were pulled out of your thoughts with his words “youre so wet just from me dry humping you” chanyeol said with an unsteady voice and a smirk on his face. You had a wet patch on your pyjama shorts and your cheeks flushed red. All you did was hide your face on his neck and leave little kisses there, a gesture which he thought he was really sweet in the middle of the heated moment. He pushed his hips down on yours while his hands rubbed the insides of your thighs. Your head was going blank and all you could do was grind back into him and let out his name in breathy moans..

kept thinking about it, and I feel like you'd be the PERFECT person to hear me out and give your opinion since I love you
what size do you think each member has like what do you think it's their juicy details, yk?? I feel like jm would be thick like bh and like sh would be the longest... ANYWAYS let me know!!!

omg cammy we r always on the same FREAKuency, i love it so much.....i love u so much.....
also, listen......i know all of the exos are naked mole rats and we r all sad abt that but we're just gonna pretend some of them aren't in this one, k????????? k <3
⟢ jongin
a masterpiece of a dick. it’s so ridiculously pretty—almost unfair, really. long and lean, wit that perfect balance between elegance and functionality. it’s slender, sleek even, yet manages to hit every spot like it was designed with you in mind. not too veiny, but with a subtle curve to the left that only adds to its charm.
sensitive? oh, absolutely. the kind of sensitive that makes him gasp the moment he’s inside you, your walls snug around his tip, already pushing him to the edge. and the way you tease him—sucking him all sloppily, then blowing cool air over his length—he shivers so hard it’s mesmerizing. it’s the kind of reaction that feeds your ego and makes you want to do it all over again.
always clean shaven, no exceptions. whether he’s single or with someone, he keeps it fresh—not just for himself but for you. he’s thoughtful like that, especially knowing how much he loves deep throating and wanting to make it as comfortable as possible for you.
jongin, the man, the myth, the considerate legend. get yourself a man like that <3333
⟢ chanyeol
huge—broad and substantial, its thickness undeniable. the tip flushes into a deep, dark red when he's hard. he loves prepping himself for you, gripping your head, guiding you to coat him in your spit, leaving his shaft glistening and ready. and honestly? it’s a sight. his dick, not overly veiny but marked by one or two prominent lines, manages to look both imposing and gorgeous. he’s not clean shaven—he’d do it if you asked, but his love for teasing means he’ll play coy just to hear you threaten him with something like, “no sex!” like the true fucking freak who lives for your reactions.
and the weight of it, god. hefty and swinging freely, that print in them sweat pants always gets you weak off in your kneeeeees. 1000% a freeballer when he's home. partly for comfort, mostly to tease you.
yeolie, please...... just gimme one chance. that's all i ask 🙏
⟢ sehun
AAAAAHHHHHHH!!!!! monster cock!!!! it’s gotta be like 8 inches—please. just look at him. doesn’t he scream 8 fucking inches? tell me he doesn’t. is that even realistic?? who cares???? not me. yeah, he’s eight inches. longer than it is thick, though, but trust—you’ll feel him in your guts. a perfect pink tip, curving slightly to the right, always ready to ruin you. but he’s considerate, always preps you first, because seriously, how the hell are you supposed to take all of him when you're drier than the sahara desert? exactlyyyyy. he gets it.
he never shaves—ever. occasionally trims if he’s in a generous mood. and that happy trail? immaculate, leading straight down to temptation. his dick is a work of art, especially when it’s wet and glossy, catching the light just right. loves pressing down on your tummy when he's deep in it <333
⟢ kyungsoo
a fat cock. it’s not the longest but the sheer girth? devastating. he has to prep you forever before you can even think about taking him, stretching you inch by inch until you're trembling from the effort. it’s veiny, a roadmap of need, with a slight curve to the right that finds places inside you that make you gasp.
it’s thick, so impossibly heavy in your hand, and the weight of it feels so satisfying when you stroke him. inside you? holy shit. it fills you to the brim, every thrust leaving your mind blank and body trembling. he used to let it grow wild, but after getting a partner, he started trimming. oh, and that happy trail? lethal. it’s perfectly soft, teasing its way down from his stomach, and when it peeks from under his shirt? game over.
it took him a while to learn how to use his dick—so thick, so unrelenting—but even when he loses himself and fucks into you with such finesse, you’re left a wreck. and then there’s the way he cums. it’s unreal, an overwhelming amount that leaves you dripping, his cock glossy and messy in the best way possible. loves to cum in you obvi, but that pretty toothy smile you flash up at him when he finishes painting your face, has him cumming again almost instantly—this time on your tongue.
"you look so fucking pretty covered in my cum, doll." <333333
⟢ junmyeon
another unfairly pretty dick—like, genuinely stunning. the kind that makes you gasp the second his pants slide down, because wtf, how can it look that good? pale skin, a light pink head flushed and glistening with precum like it was made to be touched. thick and veiny. curving slightly to the right in a way that feels like it was crafted for perfection.
he’s not overly thick, not overly long—he’s just perfectly balanced, like the universe designed him for this. and oh, he knows how to use it. every thrust, every angle feels intentional, almost calculated to hit you exactly where you need him. clean shaven, of course, because he’s nothing if not meticulous.
but the control? that’s the fucking kicker right there. his restraint is insane, always riding the edge, his tip darkening to a deep, desperate flush, trembling for release. but it’s all for you, baby. every second of that teetering need is yours to take, and he wouldn’t have it any other way.
⟢ baekhyun
he’s the epitome of 5.2 inches of pure audacity, strutting around with the misplaced confidence as if he was a solid 10. but, credit where credit’s due—he knows how to wield it. the soft pink head gleams against the rest of him, perfectly straight with no curve, slapping up against his stomach like it owns the place. he was clean shaven when you first started hooking up because some girl he used to obsess over apparently preferred it that way. but was she not a certified freak like you were???? cus when he lets a little scruff grow in, and he’s buried deep, deep, deeeeeep, that coarse bush of his brushing against your throbbing clit? a whole new level of divine. it’s so unfair.
his dick is pretty—annoyingly so. thick, with just the right amount of girth to make you wonder where the hell he's been all your life. deliciously veiny, but not overdone. and the precum? god, it’s like a faucet when he’s turned on. it’s impossible not to notice. like okay!!!!!!! we get it, baek!! are you cumming already or just showing off???
and don’t even get me started on the way he flexes it. just because he can. makes it twitch inside you like some kind of party trick like the clown he fucking is. all while your eyes brim with actual tears because you’re desperate, begging for him to just fucking MOVE ALREADY!!!!
"you look soooo pretty when you're like this, ya know???… huh??? did i already...cum????? ......well when you sound just like a fucking angel, begging for me, it's kinda hard not to."
⟢ minseok
he is—my god, i don’t even know where to begin??? good luck surviving this, seriously. he’s so thick, so veiny, you feel every ridge, every fucking pulse when he’s inside you, like he’s built to wreck you in the best way. doesn’t shave, and honestly???? he prefers it if you don’t either. a real man. he won’t stop you if you do, but don’t expect him to follow suit.
the audacity of this man—he’ll make you take him in your throat, hands tangling in your hair as he pushes your head down, guiding you exactly where he wants you. when he cums, it’s overwhelming, almost frightening in volume, leaving you breathless and dripping.
kim minseok, the poster boy for breeder balls, no question.
⟢ yixing
big, fat, and impossibly long—every inch of him feels designed to ruin you. and god, does he use every single bit to its full potential. the flushed tip darkens to a furious red when he’s properly worked up, and the way he moves has you feeling him everywhere, deep in your core, like he’s rearranging parts of you that you didn’t even know existed. it’s heavy, thick, and stretches you open in ways that leave you gasping.
he’s not completely clean shaven, but it’s perfectly kept, just enough to remind you he’s all man without being distracting. he loves watching you lose yourself, especially when you cream around him, leaving a glistening ring of your release wrapped snug around the base of his cock—a sight that makes his lips curl in satisfaction as he buries himself deeper and deeper.
and when he cums? it’s so much, thick and hot, filling you to the brim until you feel like you can’t take another drop, though he always pushes you to. you don’t just feel him; you’re consumed by him. it’s fucking overwhelming, every moment stretching past your limits until the pleasure spills over in tears you can’t hold back.
you can’t fuck zhang yixing and not cry.
"that's right, my pretty angel, i know you can take it all. that's it. there you go. take every last drop, it's all yours, love."
a/n: PHHEEEWWWW!!!!!! i need to lie down and close my eyes after this one, holy shit. anyways, thanks for coming to my ted talk!!!!! the end.

yalls ever watch "X react to K-Pop" videos from like the 2010s
It's crazy how times have changed like I saw one youtuber react to the most chill dance centric music video from EXO (Overdose) and call it ridiculous and wild
K-Pop was considered so insane to the west (at least Americans) back then
Just the general reactions are so ?!?!##224?!#$@#$^ to every video we think are so normal and cool now
I just kinda thought "what's the difference between the eccentricities in these videos compared to like, a Lady Gaga video besides the number of people" lmao

"Come on~! Show me~!" Haechan whined in your ear for the umpteenth time today.
Like all the previous times, you answered no.
Yesterday your boyfriend had found out that you had a mommy kink and liked being dominant in the bed (You had left a wattpad tab open on our shared laptop because you were apparently too tired to click on the cross), and, although that should've been something positive, you didn't want him to know.
On a daily basis, he already got critique for being younger (looking younger) than his partner, and being too 'feminine' and 'cutesy' – so, to want him to submit to you and make him match other people's perception of him was selfish and thus something you refused to do.
The theory of genders having specific power roles was something you'd always been opposed to, as you do not believe a gender determines a level of power. Truthfully, you couldn't care less if your boyfriend wanted to break gender stereotypes or not — damn, he could wear 'girly' clothes and/or put make up on if he wanted to — but you did care about what he thought of himself.
He didn't like it when people commented on how much younger he looked than he was. He didn't like it when people described him as feminine instead of masculine. He didn't like it when people [excluding you and some of his friends] called him cute. He didn't think that having any of those characteristics was wrong; he just didn't want people to call him those things.
"Please?" He attempted to lure you in with his gleaming puppy eyes – which usually worked – but that method didn't work this time around, because the great amount of vexation he had brought to you today had made you fully resistant to his cuteness.
"No, I don't want to hurt you," you answered with a blank face, trying your best to find a seemingly interesting movie on Netflix, that you hadn't already seen, so your boyfriend could give up his dumb quest. It was a little confusing why he wanted to try these types of thing with you, knowing how he felt about being belittled by others.
"I thought you said that we should always be honest with each other and always be ourselves," he argued, making a valid point since you had said those words from the start of your relationship.
"But I also said I never wanted us to hurt each other," you retorted in defense, feeling more and more irritated by the second.
Leaning and sinking down a little bit on the sofa, Haechan wanted to be more comfortable as he knew this conversation would be long. Chewing on the strings of his pink hoodie, he looked at and studied you; frown, annoyed sighs, hard grip on the remote, darker lips from biting on them – everything pointed at you being mad, and thus rather sensitive.
Then a bulb lit above his head.
"But what if I like it when you hurt me?"
You turned your head to his side. There it was. Exactly what he wanted to see. An expression on your face that told him that if he continued this route, he would get fucked. Whether it was literally or metaphorically, he wanted to find out.
"I'm leaving," you announced and stood up as quickly as the short sentence ended. You had to leave, because Haechan was pushing your buttons and you knew that if you stayed for longer you could end up doing what you had been trying to avoid since he had found out about the femdom part of you.
His face changed from calm puppy to clingy puppy with separation anxiety, scared of its owner leaving. This was not the reaction he had tried to get from you. He stood up and followed your fast steps to the bedroom. As soon as he saw you throw one of your biggest bags onto the floor, followed up by some clothing pieces, he felt his blood freeze. Were you leaving as in leaving the relationship?
"Why are you packing?" he asked, scared of your answer.
"I'm going to Irene's. I can't stay with you when you're making me crazy like this." What you said was true; you were sure he'd crack your patience and make you go full sadist on him if you stayed in the same room as him for another minute – or even worse: another hour or whole night.
He felt relieved that you weren't breaking up with him over a silly argument, but he still didn't want you to stay over at your friend's when you both knew that it would be smarter to solve the tension instead.
"Stay with me," he pleaded lowly, sensing he didn't have many other options than pleading and hoping it'd be persuasive enough for you to stay with him.
"We need a night without each to calm down and have an adult discussion, alright?" you tried to explain, grabbing your now-fully-packed bag, and heading to the door to continue your journey to your awesome best friend.
When Haechan didn't talk back, you turned away from the doorway and to the bed to see why he was being quiet and not protesting some more like he usually would. He was looking you in the eyes as he pulled the hoodie off his torso and threw it your way. You caught it in your hand. Proceeding, he pulled down his pants, making sure he did it slowly enough to send you signals that he wasn't planning on putting on his PJs.
As he stood in only his boxers in front of you, a new bulb lit up above his head – and this one was even brighter than the last one – maybe he did have more options than to plead and strip.
With a smirk he sat down on the foot of the bed, maintaining eye contact, and pulled down his boxers to reveal his hard cock. You were speechless when he had stripped down to almost full nudity, but what shocked you the most was that just speaking to him disrespectfully had turned him on.
The moment he started touching his cock and moaning like a bitch, you realized that he had purposely been naughty so you could punish him. He had whined in you ear all day, stripped and masturbated when you wanted to leave because he wanted this; he wanted to be punished.
So, you decided to do it.
You dropped the bag and went to your wardrobe, taking out a box you'd kept secret from Haechan. He looked your way curiously, analyzing your reaction while still stroking his cock rudely. Damn, he hoped you were doing something femdom related.
"Safeword?" you asked, examining the nostalgic box of memory-making apparatuses, trying to decide which ones you wanted to use to make memories tonight.
"Sun," he answered, smiling at the victory; he was going to get fucked literally.
"I hope you understand that I'm going to have to punish you for being such a naughty boy."
"Yes, Mommy," he said oh so naturally.
You looked back at him after he said the last word, watching him lay down on the bed, boxers in a random corner of the room. He seemed experienced or like he'd had a fantasy about calling you that word for a while, no stutter, and thankfully that made it easier for you decide on which toys to use on him.
"Naughty boys don't deserve to touch Mommy," you turned to him with a pair of pink, fluffy handcuffs. He blushed a little, not expecting the object you chose to punish him with to be so adorable. Did he seriously think that was all you were going to use as punishment when he'd riled you up like this?
How cute.
Walking slowly to him, you threw the cuffs onto the bed beside his legs and startled him a bit at the suddenness of the action. He had teased you, and you wanted to make sure he'd feel teased as well – and what better way to do that than to use one of his biggest weaknesses against him? Smirking, you pulled off your shirt, leaving your upper body in only a bra – a pink one. He had always liked that color – though he denied it since it wasn't manly to like pink.
You climbed on top of his body and took the cuffs in your hands again, getting ready to restrain him. He was breathing heavily, getting aroused by your body above his, and especially by your boobs that were clad in such a lovely color. Although he liked the bra, he would've loved to see your boobs without anything covering them.
"Hold your arms up for me, Channie," you ordered, to which he listened to instantly. He held them up against the bed frame, assuming you were going to cuff him to it. But he was wrong. You didn't want him to predict his punishment; you wanted everything to be a surprise that not even his fantasy could come close to.
Instead of cuffing his wrists to the frame of the bed, you cuffed them to nothing. Yes, nothing. It may sound boring to restrain your partner to nothing, but it was the opposite; restraining him to air meant that he still could choose to disobey you further by bringing his arms down. "You're going to keep your arms here, and if you at any point put them down and touch me it'll add to your punishment, understood?"
"Yes, Mommy."
"Oh, don't act like a good boy all of a sudden. You're getting punished for a reason, Haechannie," you scoffed lightly, feeling soft from the sweetness that seemed to ooze naturally whether he tried to or not.
"But I am a good boy," he pouted, adding to the cuteness you adored so much.
"Only if you can manage this punishment, but until then you're a bad boy," you explained and turned back to the box to grab the last part of the punishment. He continued pouting, until he saw the object you took out: a strap on. After removing your pants, you put the fake dick on and adjusted it to your hips.
The strap wasn't bigger than the average dick as you didn't know how used he was to having dildos shoved up his ass – and even though you wanted to hurt him, you were still cautious over how harsh you were with him. He was your squishy Haechannie after all.
"You ready, Channie?" you asked as you crawled back to him, searching his face for any uncertainty. His big eyes and toothy smile hinted at him anticipating what you were about to do, but you still wanted a verbal answer as you wanted to make sure he was OK with being pegged.
He nodded quickly, "Yes, Mommy, I'm always ready for you."

⠀┈─ BLOOD SPORT ⠀⠀/ ⠀⠀ an introduction to moth signals.
“ Moth Signals would have never worked unless they were promoted like idols. The indie community is far too small for what Shin Yeonghui was trying to achieve that it only made sense to transition them to a more traditional idol image. However, no one would expect the shift to bring their downfall. ” — Thorns and All: Moth Signals and the Toxic Light of Fame by Allison Lee.

The South Korean Idol Industry was built on the idea of creating the perfect performer.
They wanted someone that excelled on television, wanted someone that could capture the attention of the entire nation with just their voice, an ability to keep up with choreographies that only seemed to get harder with each new song, and a spotless record that reflected an angelic quality that made them better than the average person.
Idols are a form of soft power for South Korea.
Taken from political philosophy, soft power is the ability to co-opt rather than coerce and involves shaping the preferences of others through appeal and attraction. Companies get fans to be so dedicated to their favorite idol that they can manipulate the average person to fund their rich lifestyles in the hopes of a new album releasing. However, they still hold onto that human-made cult image that one typically associates with a religious idol and cult images. Originally, these practices were focused on the daily routine of being washed, dressed, and following the rules of their religion. For them, an idol is an object used to worship their deities and have something tangible as well.
K-pop idols will be simply referred to as idols from here on out as that is how their fans and most people think of them. These people are characterized by highly manufactured star power that is produced by their company and represent a convergence of music, fashion, and much more. They maintain a perfect public image and social media presence after dedicating a significant amount of time and resources just to debut. They are so sterilized and perfect that there is almost an inhumane quality to them as they share TMI's (standing for too much information, a way for fans to ask what their idols are currently up to) about going for a walk or seeing an old friend rather than the gossip it connotes for western fans, who are always waiting for the next scandal to drop to see if it's really worth getting such a reaction from domestic fans.
For example, when EXO member Chen—real name: Kim Jongdae—announced his marriage to his girlfriend on January 13, 2020, SM Entertainment was flooded with trucks and fans that demanded that he was removed from the group. In 2024, leader of Enhypen, Yang Jungwon, and vocalist of Aespa, Kim "Winter" Minjeong, were caught in a dating scandal that caused significant backlash for both idols as they entered the final promotions of the 2024 season.
Despite this, the members of Superbloom Media's Moth Signals would seemingly be immune to this phenomena as members drank, did illegal substances, and even dated each other during their seven years together. The difference between the average idol group and Moth Signals is vast, however, and they were considered both an insider and outsider to this community. They still are some of the biggest stars in South Korea and internationally, leaving many to wonder how they navigate these situations and remain on top.
The secret is Superbloom Media's style of promoting them. Though they follow the formula of a traditional idol group—training, performing on music shows, deep fan connections, and more—, Moth Signals are very rarely considered idols themselves. They are musicians, as shown by their ability to self-produce their entire discography since 2021 and reliance on instruments rather than choreography to accompany their performances. Superbloom Media also looked at the stereotypical caricature of a "rock star" and merged these ideas together. In the end, this meant that they were supposed to be perfect until they weren't, until the drama leaked to the gossip magazines or fans found the truth. They pretended to be perfect until someone had the truth to prove otherwise.
As this cycle continued, people became more accepting of the rock star image over the idol one. They were innocent until they were proven guilty and everyone went along with it, even if it meant the destruction of the five members of Moth Signals in the end. Musicians have always needed to sell themselves to create a romanticized myth of their personalities and this idea can be traced back to the Romantic authors of the 19th century as we consider them geniuses, unlike the average person that is reading their works. They are supposed to seem close, yet unattainable for most people.
At the same time, Moth Signals did not make the same music as their idol counterparts. They were rock and roll — something much more violent, sexual, and subversive than the groups they fought against to dominate the music charts. Rather than synthetic beats and elaborate choreography, they played their instruments and shared the darkest parts of themselves to the audience without much care. They were supposed to be perfectly imperfect to sell their entire concept.
Despite this, each member was still given their role to follow and the image to fall back onto. Salem was the fiercely independent leader that didn't need anyone else's help to achieve her to fame. Junyeong was the mysterious one, the one people refused to understand despite how simple his outlook seemed to be. Serin was the princess of the group, known for both her beauty and kind personality, that brought casual fans into the deep end. Deurim was marketed to be the fan turned member of the band, no matter how crazy she seemed to be. And finally, Oliver was the pretty boy, songwriting genius that everyone should be paying attention to. He was a star in his own right and everyone realized that from his first solo venture onto Superband in 2019.
The goal of this book is to separate the public image and personal lives of Moth Signals. In order to give a full account of what actually happened to them, one must look at the greater context of each member’s personal circumstances and deicide how that impacted their judgements and actions.
I also want to look deeply into what to what extent should entertainment companies should be responsible for protecting artists. Following the story of Moth Signals shines a bright light into how Superbloom Media and Shin Yeonghui exploited every single member of the band, yes, even the ones that left, and how that impacted their actions as well. For Salem, she was promised something completely different than she received and was supposed to deal with it. Junyeong was taken out of his natural talents—dancing—and forced to learn the drums and still faces significant backlash for his talents, even if he’s improved substantially since 2017. Oliver and Serin had very different mental health issues, but both were forced to perform on stage and pretend that they were fine. Unless things were life threatening, they were never allowed to seek help from an outsider and needed to be approved by Shin Yeonghui to ensure they remained loyal to her.
To understand the full story of Moth Signals, one must return to their musical beginnings: Loop 2002.
This was the band created by Salem and her four best friends from high school in 2013. For two years, they would relentlessly post new music and covers in hopes of being picked up by the algorithm and getting their big break. This would occur in late 2015 as their third official single HOME hit the mainstream through Twitter and earned the attention of Superbloom Media, who were looking for something new to debut. They had already failed the traditional route with their many soloists and groups that had disbanded and needed something to get people talking.
Park Jueun, now more commonly known by her stage name Salem, was born on October 31, 1998 in Seoul, South Korea. She would remain in the country for five years before her paternal grandfather died, leaving her grandmother with no one to take care of her. Without consulting her mother, her father would move the three members of their family to the United States to care for her. It was during her time in the Untied States that Jueun was introduced to alternative music, something that she would immediately fall in love with.
Her earliest inspiration was Haley Williams of Paramore. Salem recalls times in her childhood where she would attempt to hit the All I Wanted high note to limited success. She would remain in the United States until she was twelve years old and her grandmother died that same year. Her father, overcome with grief, would not return to Seoul with Salem and her mother. He would stop answering her calls and he would stop sending presents on her birthday. He became a ghost in her life and that forced her deeper into music. If her father wouldn’t see her, he would have to listen to her.
Jueun attended the School of Performing Arts in Seoul during her high school career and graduated from the Practical Music program in 2016, right after her debut with Moth Signals. She remains the only member of Moth Signals to have earned their high school diploma, with the rest completing their GED online later into their career. She displays it proudly in the office I held her interview in, right next to her first “Songwriter of the Year” trophy from one of the many award shows.
At SOPA, she would meet the other three members of LOOP 2002: Choi Chaesol, Kim Rihan, and Lee Hyeonjae. They had the same guitar class and they became quick friends, bonding over their love of early 2000’s alternative music and wanting to continue down that road, unlike many of their peers.
“We became friends over a group project and it became our first ‘single’ released together after months of refining it. I think all the streams it got came from us at the time. We would post on Soundcloud almost daily, even if we only had the bare minimum of a song and hoping that someone would recognize our talent.”
And someone did: Shin Yeonghui, the new CEO of Superbloom Media.
In a later interview, Shin Yeonghui would explain Moth Signals “needed to be controversial” and “something never seen before”, which is why she took the chance on Jueun and Loop 2002 in the first place. She originally wanted Chaesol because of her bubbly personality and ability to make anyone smile, but she wasn’t going anywhere without the rest of her bandmates. The only one Shin could convince to join her side, filled of promised fame and riches, was Salem, who was going by her birth name, Park Jueun, at the time. For the next year, Shin was dedicated to finding three other members to join Jueun in her new venture.
Jude, now known as her birth name Yang Irang, was selected from an existing pool of trainees under the company. She would fill the spot left by Chaesol and provide bright energy, being considered the “mood maker” of the group, meaning she was tasked to make sure everything remained happy. Jeong Dohun was also selected from their existing trainees, however, he would only be under the company for two months before he was chosen. He was a talented singer and knew how to play the drums already. Finally, Oliver would be discovered at Superbloom Media’s first and only in person audition in Boston, Massachusetts in 2016 and was immediately placed into the lineup from his first audition.
“He was just… amazing,” Yeonghui says in 2021. “From such a young age, he already held that star power we were looking for and I needed Oliver Song in this lineup. He had this raw talent that would turn into something bigger—make him a star in his own right and succeed with or without his bandmates.” While she doesn’t say it out loud, the plan was always for Oliver to be the face of Moth Signals, it would just take a few years for the pendulum to shift in his favor.
From here, the four members would train for two months before their debut single Scared was released in 2016.
The single would sell horribly and that is not an understatement. It’s unknown how many copies Scared actually sold, but many think it had to be under 20 copies. They were given another chance to prove themselves with The Great Silence, another physical single, that only sold a bit better than their debut. Superbloom Media would announce an indefinite hiatus for the group as the company fixed the internal conflicts and restructure the group. This would end with Yang Irang’s contract being sold to their close friend Mystic Story Entertainment, where she would debut as a solo artist and frequent collaborator with Mystic’s own band, Lucy, since 2020.
On the other hand, Jeong Dohun has never been seen again. He was last seen in public on December 18, 2016 before he goes completely silent, with just a text explaining to his family he was moving somewhere else to pursue this dream. This was uncharacteristic of Dohun and his family would report him missing by the new year because they were never able to get into contact with him again.
The case of Jeong Dohun remains open and is the beginning of a long line of Superbloom Media artists that disappeared after their career went under. He is joined by the four pre-debut members of Velvetine, Celatum’s Viva, and former Trot soloist Eden Lee. If you have any ideas what happened to these idols, please let Seoul Metropolitan Police know as these cases are still open and their families are hoping for justice or a return of their children.
After a year of silence, Moth Signals would return with new members—Junyeong, Serin, and Minjae—in September of 2017, setting the scene for the band that we know today. Not only had their members changed, but so had their sound. Rather than simple instrumentals and reliance on vocals, their re-debut single would feature drums, guitars, and so many other instruments to create a fuller sound that has become synonymous with Moth Signals.
Sadly, the changes would only bring in so many new fans. They were still considered “nugu”, meaning nobody in Korean, and Superbloom Media wanted attention on them quickly. So much money had already been put into the group, now they needed to see some sort of profit from them.
“There was a lot riding on us,” Salem shared in an interview with Elle Korea in 2020. “We all knew it was possible, though, because of bands that came before us and other unknown groups that made it to the top. Yeonghui wanted it to happen from the very start. She never liked that we slowly rose to where we are now and I never understood that.” Salem is not the only member that feels that way, of course. Serin would say in another interview, “I liked the organic growth. I think going from having no fans to everyone suddenly watching us would have made things a lot worse.”
2017, 2018, and 2019 were all spent on desperate attempts to climb the idol ladder as Moth Signals began to appear on variety and music shows, letting the entire country see their faces up close and get to know the new band. Superbloom wanted them to reach similar levels as F.T. Island, N.Flying, and CNBLUE under FNC Entertainment in the early 2010s. Coming into the new decade, rock music wasn’t as popular anymore and Moth Signals, hailing from such a small company, were not going to earn their fame without blood, sweat, and tears being put into every project they released.
Their first release as the new and improved Moth Signals would be Great Caesar and it would get the chance at releasing more than two songs. Their first “mini-album” would bring them much more success. They became beloved guests on After School Club, a variety show for idols to interact with their global fanbases, as they performed whatever the guests wanted. They would be flooded with cover requests for weeks after their appearances, something that bugged all the members at the time. They hated that they had to play someone else’s songs and wanted people to love their own sound.
At the same time as their idol schedules, Moth Signals would earn a permanent residency at The Lure in Gangnam, Seoul. The Lure is one of the few venues that would allow the underage members to play after working hours. Other bars were not willing to risk their business and liquour license to allow a band filled with teenagers play their bar, leaving them to sign an elusive contract with The Lure for three years. They performed almost every Friday and Saturday night until the bar closed and quickly gained a small fanbase that returned to see them at least once during the weekends. They began taking requests for money a few months into the gig, when they had gained enough of a steady crowd, and it would take off from there. By the time their residency ended in 2021, a song could be requested for anything between 20,000₩ and 100,000₩, depending on how often Moth Signals got that request. Fans could ask other people for donations, which were usually given, and very few payed for these higher requests alone.
(I had seen them perform at The Lure in 2021.
I was studying abroad in South Korea during undergraduate and after weeks of trying, I managed to be let in after matching with one of the prompters on a dating app. It was one of their Friday shows, which were always know to be crazier because the members did not have hangovers, and I got to hear some of their most iconic songs from the earlier eras, including My Angel and For Your Love, the two songs that made me into a Moth Signals fan. I had seen the members just before everything had fallen apart and one of the last shows that Minjae would attend. I still have photos from this performance as my pinned tweet on my old fandom Twitter account and wish I had made it a priority to see them before their hiatuses.)
In 2018, nothing would change about Moth Signals.
Fans were allowed to breath and knew that their favorite member would be there for the foreseeable future. After almost two years, Moth Signals was finally established and it seemed that things were going well for them. They remained with the same lineup—Salem, Junyeong, Minjae, Serin, and Oliver—with Salem and Kim Yuchan, a famous soloist, overseeing the creative process. Members were beginning to show off their lyrical abilities in b-sides, but that was all they had: a song that very little would care about.
Many patterns of the Moth Signals promotional routine would also start here, including their Spring and Fall releases and being invited to their first award shows. They wouldn’t be nominated for anything until later in their career, instead, just being in the same room as some of the biggest acts in the industry made fans want to know about them. They were known on Twitter as “the unknown co-ed group” for at least twenty-seven hours and the growth in searches for Moth Signals only grew from here.
“Sometimes I wish I could go back to that era,” Oliver Song reflects in one of our many interviews. He sits at his kitchen table, head leaning on his palm as we communicate over Zoom and I wonder what would have been different if the next events didn’t happen. I ask that exact question and he shrugs. “The goal was to make money. Nothing else was important at the time, we owed the company for how much they did for us.”
Oliver is a reflection of the predatory nature of the idol industry. Like many of the biggest idols, he was accepted into the company at fourteen years old and would debut two months later, throwing him to the wolves and anger of netizens as his mental health symptoms got worse.
Prior to leaving his school in Boston, Oliver was being tested for a education plan with specific goals in Mathematics and Social / Emotional health. He had been diagnosed with Generalized Anxiety disorder at eleven years old and was considering medication at the time. His teachers had asked for the testing upon realizing he was missing fundamental numerical skills and was completely lost when it came to solving word problems. They also noted extreme levels of anxiety and agitation in the young boy, though further research would show these outbursts coincided with the return and departure of his father. He would have seen a school counselor for a social skills group with three other classmates and forty minutes of individualized counseling with her.
He is a ticking time bomb of repressed anger and unease. Though he tried at the beginning, he found trying to make friends with the other members was much harder than he thought it would be. “I don’t know—I really thought because we were forced into this together, we would become friends. I was really hopeful back then. Jiyeon and Minjae were already close and they seemed to tolerate me, so I started hanging out around them more. I know it annoyed Minjae, but Jiyeon would become one of my best friends.”
In another interview, Jiyeon would describe her friendship with Oliver as “self-serving.” She had been dealing with her own familial issues prior to joining Superbloom and saw this relationship—friendship—with Oliver as a way to prove to people she was loveable and people were interested in her. “He was like a dog, I guess,” Jiyeon recalls, “just bouncing between the groups to see which one would accept him first. I felt bad.”
Lee Jiyeon is no stranger to this feeling, of course.
She would grow up in Incheon with her parents and two older sisters, born in 1990 and 1993. Jiyeon, who was born in 2000, was an accidental pregnancy and she learned that from a very young age. There was nothing she could do in her parents eyes that would ever be good enough. Her parents were natural doctors, using herbs and other natural remedies to cure illnesses, and that brought a very toxic culture into their home. When she thinks back to it, symptoms of her eating disorder started appearing when she was eleven and she began tracking her caloric intake on her home computer.
“They encouraged it,” Jiyeon explains, they meaning her parents. “My parents wanted me to be perfect and I internalized many of these feelings and it became only natural to restrict when I entered Superbloom as well. I left one toxic life for another,” and that’s a cycle that all the members of Moth Signals seemed to fall into. They were all escaping something worse happening at home with their dreams of making music. “It didn’t help that I was given a role to play and that fed deeply into my insecurities and need to be perfect. I don’t think fans realize how much of an impact their words have on idols. The space between us is to vast and yet so small, leaving fans and idols to run around in the same circles and no one really knowing how to get better.”
Jiyeon joined Superbloom Media to escape from her parents, just like the rest of her members. She joined to make something of herself and make sure her parents knew that she was successful. Jiyeon was a natural talent in most areas. She was able to pick up the basics quickly and piece by piece, the stones that created Serin were set into place. Originally, Jiyeon was considered for the lineup of another Superbloom Media group—Cupid’s Bow—and only lost her chance when the project itself was scrapped, the company missing enough trainees to make the concept shine.
Shin Yeonghui explained that Jiyeon was added to the lineup of Moth Signals because “she balanced everyone else out. She was the one that would get ‘normal’ K-pop fans interested and the other members were there to hook them in musically.” Though she never said it explicitly, Jiyeon was tasked with being the visual star of Moth Signals—the beautiful girl that could get anyone’s attention. This tactic would have the opposite effect, however, as Jiyeon stumbled deeper into her eating disorder and was forcing herself to lose any weight possible to remain as perfect as possible.
Her psychical health did not matter unless it got in the way of promotions and the ability to make money off of Jiyeon’s health condition. Thankfully, this would change during their 2021 hiatus as she sought treatment and she was the only one to come back from that hiatus happy to be on stage and in the limelight again, but that is a story for another section of this story.
2018 would end and the members began preparing for their release: Hypocreep, the final era that would be completely controlled by Salem. Fans seemed to like this darker sound from the band as they began creating specific atmospheres with their songs. Slowly but surely, every member would start making more contributions to the creative cycle as well, with Minjae and Jiyeon writing their own instrumental lines with the help of Oliver and Salem, while Junyeong sticks with having someone else write for him. Playing the drums was hard enough for Junyeong at the time, why add composition to his plate?
Born in June 1999, Kang Junyeong is the embodiment of the stereotypical Gemini sun placement—charming, curious, and versatile but also superficial, impatient, and restless.
He grew up in one of the poorer neighborhoods of Daejeon, South Korea and knew to keep his head down at all times and stay out of the rest of the cities business. He would walk to school and walk back without any issue… until 2009. That was the year Junyeong met his former best friend, Lee Juwon, and they would soon join another group of boys in their neighborhood in learning street dancing from their role models. He remembers watching the dancers from across the park, wishing to know how they moved like that and kept their movements in sync. Thankfully, Juwon had similar ideas and they would join together.
Despite his immense talents as a dancer, Junyeong was street-cased by Superbloom Media in late 2014. They wanted him for his looks first and talents second he would realize later and Junyeong had always wanted to escape from his hometown. He wanted to make something more of himself and be able to repay his father for all Kang Junseo had done for his only son, even after his mother had left them behind. He knew that this was a once in a life time chance and took it, moving to Seoul with his little belongings and a few extra dollars from his father in his pocket.
To debut, he would have to take this seriously, so, Junyeong would dedicate his entire days to perfecting choreography and working with the vocal coaches to catch him up. Though he always ranked within the best dancers, Junyeong lacked when it came to everything else—singing, rapping, and even variety. He did not have the personality of an idol, one of the shareholders would say in a meeting, failing in whispering it. Junyeong would take this critique and he barely even slept after that, he would practice day and night until his drumming became perfect—well, as perfect as someone that had never learned to properly plan the drums could be. He expected this to be a shift, a moment where he could find himself… but, life is never that kind to Moth Signals.
On April 2, 2019, Oliver would be a confirmed contestant on the JTBC survival reality show Superband, and for many, this moment is considered the beginning of their end. This show would not only skyrocket them into fame, but begin a very fractured relationship between all the members for their own reasoning. Salem lies in jealousy as female contestants would not be allowed to compete until the show’s second season, leaving her to watch from the sidelines as Oliver took this opportunity and didn’t seem too invested in it. Sure, he worked hard and achieved amazing results—second place, mind you—but that should have been Salem. He was nothing without her and they all knew it. Minjae would be eliminated during the initial recruitment process and took that with pride, knowing that this show was not for him and hoping for another way to showcase his talents.
Superband would last from April to July 2019 and feature fourteen episodes and seven missions to create the perfect band. Hoppipolla would earn the win, with only a few thousand points separating them from Error Zone, which was composed of Oliver, Sawyer, Taeyun, and Suhyeon. Their performances over the course of the show would be praised and met with great enthusiasm as they grew closer together. However, this was not enough to secure them the win. They would rank first in the first semi-final round and were quickly relegated to second place after that by fans.
Coming out of the show, Oliver was the only member known to the general public. He became a beloved figure in popular culture and many wanted to know what he was doing next. Unlike the rest of Superband, Error Zone has never released music together since the show ended and they were paraded on tour together. There was no falling out, according to the members, they are just too busy for yet another project to dedicate their time towards, all four of them had commitments to the outside world. Over the past few years, Error Zone has teased a potential debut together, but their companies can never come to agreement on who would oversee the group’s promotions and training. They all wanted a slice of this pie and that came with the consequences of not being able to release music together.
Not long after Superband, a mere twelve days, Moth Signals would make their triumphant return with My Angel—the first track to be sung by another member. Oliver’s My Angel remains one of their most beloved tracks and currently holds the highest tip requirement at live shows because of how often they played it. The song takes inspiration from the 1970s and Glam Rock, with the genre being described as “flamboyant clothing and visual styles of performers were often camp or androgynous, and have been described as playing with other gender roles.” The song focuses on a tumultuous romantic relationship and be the first song that connected bandmates Oliver and Salem together romantically. Every time they performed the track, the pair gravitated towards each other, leading to the iconic bridge where they sing into the same microphone, telling each other that this relationship was going to kill them.
On January 1, 2020, fans would wake up to the newest Dispatch Couple of the Year: Park Jueun and Oliver Song.
The relationship is met with positive attitudes from most fans, however, many often express discomfort with the age gap. Taking what we know of their relationship timeline, Salem would have been 21 years old and Oliver just barely turned 18 years old. As time goes on, fans become more upset by the age gap seeing just how drastically Oliver changed after their relationship. Speaking to both of them about the age gap and timeline made it clear that Oliver’s inevitable mental health crisis in 2021 was not apart of this, instead, it had been building since the death of his father, Thomas Song, in 2019.
Despite this, there is so much lost media what it comes to this relationship. In 2022, all vlogs recorded by the pair would be deleted along with any photos of them from their official Instagram account. The relationship was effectively scrubbed clean from the internet when they announced their break-up after almost two years together.
According to Jueun, “the breakup was always coming. Neither of us were in the right headspace for just a publicized relationship and after a while, I got tired of waiting for him.” She remains stoic in these parts of the interview, carefully masking any emotions behind a black face to avoid bringing up any lingering memories. She’s moved on from the relationship and evidently, so has he. “I’m just not sure why it needs to keep coming up,” she states, only a piece of annoyance filtering through her words. “Let the past be the past. We broke up and we’re on good terms now. Isn’t that enough?”
Oliver describes the relationship similarly. My first question about the relationship gets a light laugh out of him and he shakes his head. “I’ve never been able to tell Salem this, but, she’s one of the few reasons I’m still alive today. It’s one of those first love relationships, you know? In the moment, it was everything and I couldn’t live without her, but as time moves forward, I barely miss it. What do they say on Twitter—uh—wrong place, right people?”
“Right people, wrong time,” I nod along, trying to get some more information out of him.
“Yes, exactly,” he snaps his fingers. “Right people, wrong time… I don’t even know if there was a right time, but Jueun has always been one of my people. I don’t know where I’d be without her.”
Coming into 2020, Moth Signals saw their original fanbase splitting in half, with many older fans going back to LOOP 2002 for that type of music. They couldn’t stand to see what Jueun was doing with Moth Signals and missed that older sound. Despite this, they would still gain steady popularity this year as Lion’s Den became one of their most famous songs of all time, still sitting in their Top 5 Most Listened To tracks on most music streaming platforms. Lovesickness, the album released with Lion’s Den, would be their first project to sell over 10,000 units, showing that they were growing and many projected a spike in fans later that year.
Lion’s Den would be the final live performances before Moth Signals 16 month hiatus. They would release another album and song, The Fourth Floor, but things were already going wrong behind the scenes. They were cancelling performances left and right due to poor health for all the members and the new song would only make things worse. Moth Signals went back to their melancholic sound and promotions were cut short after three days, leaving many to wonder what had happened.
On March 12, it was confirmed that lead singer Oliver Song had tried to kill himself in a hotel room with a mixture of his prescribed Xanax for anxiety attacks, extra strength Acetaminophen, and multiple shots of vodka. He was found by their manager, Cheon Garam, when he hadn’t shown up to breakfast or their rehearsal that day. It was not uncommon for Oliver to be late, according to Garam, he liked to walk to work sometimes and would only be a few moments behind his members. She was sure that everything was fine.
Garam describes the hotel room as a scene from a horror film. The bed was completely torn apart, his things littered everywhere, and Oliver, sitting at the toilet, forcing himself to throw up all the pills he had taken. It was great luck that Garam had reached Oliver on time and a few more minutes without medical attention would have seen his death at nineteen years old. All promotions were immediately canceled from the rest of the era and after a seventy-four hour suicide watch, where doctors waited for his mother, Kathleen Song, to arrive from Boston. The flight was over twenty-four hours, but she made sure she was there before anyone else could make decisions for him.
Kathleen would take Oliver back to Boston just a few days later, somehow successfully avoiding his fans until they landed at Logan International Airport. The news would break publically not long after and there would be no sighting of Oliver Song until he returned to South Korea in late 2022. Sadly, Oliver would never attend any rehabilitation program while living in Boston. His family did not want to push him into a decision and lose him again, so they let Oliver chose his next steps. He changed his medications to Citalopram, more commonly known as Celexa, but keep the Xanax prescription in limited doses. He argued that they did work when he needed them and that had been a bad day. He shouldn’t lose such an important resource over one mistake—his words, not mine.
When I ask him about this choice, he just shrugs without much of an answer. We pause for a few moments as I wait for him to say something, anything about what went through his mind at that time. “I wanted to get back to Seoul, I guess. I knew that rehab meant that my career was over and I wasn’t ready to accept it at the time.” He looked over at his medicine cabinet for a second. “I’m still not ready to accept it. I don’t want to lose everything I worked hard for.”
Oliver’s fear of therapy and rehabilitation comes from his relationship with his father, Thomas Song. Song was a known alcoholic and dealt with his own mental health issues steaming from abusive parents and a period in the United States Army before any of his siblings were born. His father would take his own life in late 2020 through an accidental overdose on designer drugs and alcohol, having been found outside of his own apartment complex and a few inches away from the trash area. If these things could not save his father, Oliver is convinced that they will never be able to save him either. He is trapped in a similar cycle as his father and we can only wait until Oliver realizes that for things to change.
At the same time, Garam had seen what happened to Oliver and got into Jiyeon an intensive out-patient program for her eating disorder, where she would meet in group and individual therapy for three hours a week and work with trained professionals on medication management. Oliver would lie to Garam and Superbloom Media that he was seeing his own counselor a few times a week and was considering attending Alcoholics Anonymous meetings down the road. We know now that whole plan was a lie to get him back to South Korea faster, leaving the watchful eyes of his family and manager behind him as he protested that he was fine on his own.
Salem and Oliver would also break up during this time period. Both state that it was mutual, but mostly based on Oliver’s inability to communicate effectively during this time period. “I couldn’t be mad,” Oliver explains. “Literally because the Celexa made me feel like a zombie and because I knew it was my fault. I hate to admit this, but I never even texted her after that night. I deserved to be rung through the mud.”
For most of the year, their personal and public social media accounts would remain without any updates. It was like anything related to Moth Signals was permanently shut down. The accounts would come back alive just before August 9, 2021 as they announced Salem’s solo debut with the cult classic The Curse of Capulet, a beloved album by all fans and brought in a brand new era for the members. It was confirmed that three of the four members—Salem, Serin, and Junyeong—would make their solo debuts between August 2021 and the end of 2022, as they waited for Oliver to return to Korea.
The universe had other plans, of course.
Serin would debut with her bubblegum pop masterpiece The Princess Diaries in the first quarter of 2022 and became the most famous members at the time. Jiyeon struggled heavily with relapses and needing emergency contact with her therapist during this time period as her solo debut came entirely too early. Though she was released and declared ‘healthy’ again at that time, she was still working to rewire her brain and the things she convinced herself about food. Prompting was almost impossible as she fought against her own hunger pains and feeling like she was going to go back ‘there’.
“I had Salem, though,” Jiyeon explains with a small smile, the same that she wears every time her best friend is mentioned in her narrative. The pair became close during the hiatus as two of the people most affected by what happened. They were able to get past any animosity based on their feelings for Oliver—thank god—and have considered each other almost sisters ever since. “She really helped me alot and made everything feel like… I’m not sure of the right word. I felt incredibly stupid not being able to eat a quarter or a protein bar somedays and she reminded me that there’s always another chance. Yeah, if Salem wasn’t there, I don’t think I would have made it this far.”
Though Junyeong was confirmed for a late 2022 solo debut, the project would never happen. It would never even leave the beginning stages of planning as Oliver finally returned to South Korea and they needed to replace Minjae.
Lee Minjae was born in Seoul, South Korea to two loving parents. Of all the members of Moth Signals, he is the only member to have a ‘normal’ background. He was well fed and loved by his parents and was encouraged to chase his dreams of being an idol after seeing EXO perform in 2014. He would audition for twelve companies, but only Superbloom Media was willing to take a chance on him. He saw it as a sign, somewhere he was meant to be. He learned how to play piano at his local youth center and was considered talented for his age. At fourteen years old, he would join Superbloom Media and debut in 2017 as the pianist and vocalist of Moth Signals.
Many people leave Minjae out of their analysis of Moth Signals for some reason and never seem to realize what an important part that he played. He was the tie breaker between Jueun & Junyeong and Jiyeon & Oliver, acting as the voice of reason for his other bandmates. He took a logical approach to everything and that explains why he would leave Moth Signals and Superbloom Media in 2021, at the height of the hiatus.
“I couldn’t do it anymore.”
I am sitting in Minjae’s living room and nursing a cup of green tea as we chat. Unlike the other members, he does not try to keep the idol facade up. He leaves his face blank and openly rolls his eyes at what the others had said previously, correcting them with what really happened.
“Every time I would walk into that apartment, I was scared what would happen next. Oliver had tried to kill himself and Jiyeon was in out-patient, but everyone was acting like it was fine. I made a meeting with Yeonghui and I said, ‘I will expose everything about this company unless you let me go’. I thought I was going to be killed, honestly, like Jeong Dohun and that Velvetine girl. Nobody goes against Shin Yeonghui and wins.
“She must have realized what dirt I had on her and next thing I know, my contract is going through the paper shredder. She leans against the desk and looks me directly in the eyes to ask: are we done here? I don’t think I’ve ever run out of her office faster.”
Minjae was unable to tell me any of his secrets about Yeonghui due to an NDA he signed to leave, but, I was able to research and fine exactly what he might have been referencing.
Since late 2020, there have been rumors circulating forums dedicated to Moth Signals and all things Luminaries. They ask about the exact relationship between Oliver, who was born in 2001, and his boss, Shin Yeonghui, born in 1967. She is older than Oliver’s mother, mind you. There are photos of them at business parties, looking more like dates than mentor and mentee. His tie always matches her dresses and she always has a hand on him, whether it be his inner thigh or just his arm, tugging him further into the party. There have been claims of seeing them intimately involved at these parties, but nothing solid has ever been released. You can find the pictures all over Twitter and Reddit.
Yeonghui must have known that Minjae knew about her little secret and knew that if it got out, it would ruin her career. She lets Minjae go, not without blacklisting him from the entire entertainment industry, of course, and replaces him swiftly with Oh Deurim. She was already a well known Superbloom trainee at the time, having completed on The Gibson Girl Project for a chance to debut in Velvetine. She would be sent home in the last episode, but not without a promise from Yeonghui that big things were coming for her.
That big thing? Debuting with Moth Signals in 2022.
Yes, after sixteen months of pure silence about group activities, Superbloom Media dropped a new set of teasers for their first studio album Internet Blues, featuring the new member. Her inclusion was met with split reactions. Many were happy to see such a talented trainee get another chance, but many wondered if this would ruin the already fragile relationship Moth Signals had. On May 5, 2022, they would release their next single I’m Alive, which secured their first win and nomination at a major award show for “Best Band Performance” and they would take it home in the late winter months, showing how much they’ve grown over the last few years.
They would return to their usual promotional schedule of Spring and Fall releases with I Don’t Care in November of 2022, which cemented them as one of the biggest stars in the idol industry despite all the odds. Moth Signals seemingly turned the idea of what an idol should be and made their own definition, one that could only apply to them. Their studio album Call Me Crazy was celebrated by all fans as it meant Moth Signals promised to stay with their fans until the very end. The members looked more alive than they had in years, though there were some awkward moments as they navigated having a new member.
Oh Deurim was born on July 7, 2001 in Busan, South Korea to a single mother. Her father had been arrested from drug possession just before her birth and she would never meet him. From a very young age, music and writing was Deurim’s outlet. She loved composing her own tracks and falling down rabbit holes of genres she’s never heard of. She grew up writing poems, encouraged by her mother who was an author, and knew that she wanted to be famous from a young age.
She wanted to feel that adrenaline of the stage and know that people were here to see her first, no one else. Deurim’s an odd case, to put it lightly. Somehow, her most insane decisions would bring out the best results and she’s grown into a fan favorite because she ‘keeps it real’ in a fake industry. She posts whatever she wants and does what she wants, as seen by her November 2024 Instagram post where she outed her own relationship with bandmate Oliver Song. Superbloom Media confirmed the relationship not long after and they’ve been together ever since.
“I knew I was going to get him. It was only fate, I mean. I’ve been his fan since debut and I’m the only one that cares about him,” Deurim defends in her interview. She does this often—defends herself against an accusation that did not actually happen. She sits in defensive poses, her arms crossed over her chest and glaring at me. It’s unnerving. “You don’t think so?”
“I never said that.”
“Well, you wouldn’t understand anyway.”
I ended the interview not long after this. Deurim saw me as her greatest enemy at the moment and from experience, I knew it would not end well if I kept pushing. I thanked her for her time and left my business card in case I had further questions. She was kind enough to walk me out, but made sure to watch as I got into my rental car and left her apartment.
Coming into 2023, something happened that no one thought was possible: Oliver’s solo album.
When the band made their first appearance in public, many assumed that the era of solos was over and they would focus on band related activities. This, as usual, was not the case. Oliver debuted as a soloist on his twenty-first birthday with Boston’s Brightest, an album almost exclusively written during the hiatus period. Oliver describes it as “raw” and whatever came to mind at the time. The album would feature seven tracks all written and produced by Song and many fans were happy to see this, feeling that Oliver was owed it after all the hard work he’d put into everyone else’s career.
Sadly, his bandmates would not feel the same way. Three days before the album was released, Junyeong would take to Instagram live to leak almost half of the album before his Instagram was shut down for two weeks. He began a smear campaign against Oliver in every other form of media he could get, even including what Salem had said about the situation. Oliver would not comment on the situation, playing willfully ignorant whenever asked, and moving the conversation back to himself.
When I asked Junyeong why he leaked the album, Junyeong said: “I was pissed. That was my opportunity to earn my own fanbase instead of living in the shadows of everyone else. Everyone makes mistakes when they’re upset, so why am I the only one being villainized for it?” Junyeong leaves out the two Twitter posts where he tags Oliver’s personal account and tells him to “kill himself for the greater good”. Another piece of Moth Signals lost media as Superbloom media made sure no one ever saw it again.
Boston’s Brightest was one of Oliver’s best eras yet. He actually seemed to enjoy being on stage again and being with his fans. He would have a solo performance of the album at The Lure in 2023, which is where the infamous Oliver-Junyeong fight of 2023 occurs. It’s still not known what caused the fight, but suddenly, Junyeong was pulling Oliver back from the bar and punching him across the face. They would go back and forth for a few minutes before the bouncer kicks Junyeong out, leaving a drunk Oliver to exclaim: “What a night!” and tip his head back laughing as blood gets on his shirt.
Two months later, the band would release Love and War with the lead single Sold My Love, which was an international and national success. 2023 was truly the year of Moth Signals as they would sell their first million units of a single album and would be seen everywhere. It felt like every few minutes there was a new update on what Moth Signals were doing and that leads to all the members becoming paranoid about fans watching. They would not leave their homes without escorts from their companies and had bodyguards to make sure no one tried to break into their apartment.
The story of Moth Signals does not end with some sappy reunion between the members as they reconcile their differences, instead, they would go their separate ways with Superbloom Media affective immediately in summer of 2024. They finished their promotions for Tower of Babel and suddenly, everyone was moving out of their shared apartment and all the memories they made together were left behind. The “Soloist” era has treated fans well as Deurim finally made her solo debut, Jueun established her own label Little Chaos, and Junyeong would sign with For Romance, the label of close friend JC in late 2024.
Oliver remains under Superbloom Media despite massive fan attempts to get him to leave. He would assure them that everything would be fine, but many are worried knowing the many rumors that plague the building.
Jiyeon would announce her own hiatus and remove herself from the public realm. She plans on renting a cottage by the sea for a few months to get herself back together and do some important thinking about what she wants next from her career. Since then, all of her social media accounts have gone silent beyond the casual update from Junyeong and Salem about her well-doing.
From the beginning, the members of Moth Signals divided themselves amongst their preferences for music and it quickly spiraled out of control, leaving a strong division between all of them. Many worry that Tower of Babel was their final project together. From the responses I got from the five members, it seemed that they are open to making music together again, but not for a very, very long time.

𐙚 ‧ JOHNJI ─── news article
I 𝓲. I johnny (nct) x oc ୨୧ dating news

╰ dispatch reveals their second couple of 2019: seventeen’s minji and nct’s johnny.
﹙ DECEMBER 31ST, 2018 ﹚— Every year, Korean news outlet Dispatch rings in the new year by revealing new celebrity couples to the public. Girls’ Generation’s Yoona and Lee Seung Gi, Rain and Kim Tae Hee, and EXID’s Hani and JYJ’s Junsu all had their first reports come from Dispatch.
Along with the previous couple exposed today, Blackpink's Jennie and EXO's Kai, the pair was exposed by a close friend of theirs. The mutual stated that they had been dating for a few months and were seeing each other regularly. Photos were sent to us by the friend and we will not be disclosing due to privacy. Whether Dispatch will disclose the photos or not, their interactions at events are something else to look at to confirm their relationship. Thus being said, perhaps fans of both groups will look into the SEVENTEEN and NCT interactions.
Minji has posted many photos on her personal Instagram account, doimizu, with NCT’s Johnny. Although most of the photos were mere Instagram stories, it definitely added insight into what the idols were doing together. Whether Minji meant to make her relationship public by sharing her moments with Johnny, these stories were captured a few weeks before they started officially dating, according to the close friend.
Both SM and Pledis Entertainment have not addressed anything currently about the matter, especially SM Entertainment with two of their artists dating life being exposed.

While looking through with each artist, both of their agencies responded with these statements:
Hello, this is SM Entertainment. We talked to our artist, Johnny, and came to the conclusion that he is in-fact dating SEVENTEEN’s Minji. We would also like to confirm that they had been dating prior to the announcement. We cannot interfere with his life outside of idol activities, so we ask fans to support the couple. Thank you.
Hello, this is Pledis Entertainment. Looking over with SM Entertainment, we came to the same conclusion. We hope everyone can support the couple and withhold their negative views.
Although it was not needed, Minji made a personal statement on her Instagram.

Hi. This is Minji from Seventeen and I am deeply sorry for announcing this after seeing the current news. I’ve always wanted to announce my relationship with Johnny and being beaten to it really hurt me. This relationship was built from a friendship that I hope lasts even after we depart from each other, if that does happen. Both of us were made aware of the news as soon as it was released to the public. I didn’t want to feel the same pressure as every other artist who was exposed by the fated news, but unfortunately, I am standing in their shoes as well. I hope everyone understands that I am truly sorry for having to announce this. Thank you for your understanding.
The post’s comment section was filled with both support and hate, which later became silenced with Minji disabling comments. We truly offer our condolences to the couple and we wish them a very safe and healthy relationship!

╰┈➤ ❝ SEYEON’S BACKGROUND !

✰ DISCLAIMER
Quoted paragraphs indicate that Seyeon has talked about the topic in front of cameras before; therefore, the information is known to the public.
Wordcount: 1.2k
╭┈──── ◌ೄ◌ྀ ˊˎ
╰┈➤ ❝ 1997–2007: EARLY LIFE AND AUDITION !
Choi Se-yeon was born on May 1, 1997, as an only child.
Seyeon comes from a wealthy family. She was born in Seocho-gu, one of the richest districts in Seoul, South Korea. Her father, Choi Song-ho, is a former governor of the Bank of Korea, and her mother, Kim Ji-yeon, is a retired model.
In 1999, Seyeon's family moved to New York City. Her parents often traveled between New York and Seoul, leaving Seyeon behind. She was homeschooled and raised by a babysitter, with little to no interaction with her parents. Despite their absence, her parents were extremely controlling—they imposed harsh restrictions on both Seyeon and her babysitter.
❝I spent most of my childhood in NYC, but I hated that place. I hated being homeschooled and staying at home. I was begging my babysitter to go to a normal school every day, but my parents never let me.❞
At the beginning of 2007, Seyeon's parents returned to New York from Seoul, bringing Seyeon's cousin, Kang Kyungna, with them. Kyungna lived with Seyeon and her parents for a couple of months. Later that same year, in the summer, Kyungna took Seyeon to Seoul.
In August, Seyeon was approached by an SM employee while shopping with Kyungna. The employee asked her if she wanted to be famous. Although they walked away from the employee, she kept getting offers from SM almost every week for the next month. After refusing over and over again, Kyungna eventually agreed to send Seyeon to an audition.
❝I never had a dream of becoming an idol, but I was approached by different staff on the street so much that I went there just so they'd leave me alone.❞
Seyeon auditioned for SM Entertainment in October 2007. She sang and danced to "Tell Me" by Wonder Girls, as it was the only song she knew the choreography for. She was accepted immediately and became a trainee at the age of 10.
╭┈──── ◌ೄ◌ྀ ˊˎ
╰┈➤ ❝ 2007–2015: TRAINEE LIFE AND SM ROOKIES !
Seyeon continued her homeschooled education until 2009. After completing her elementary education, she attended Sinsa Middle School.
❝I was a bad student in middle school. I adapted quickly, but it was really difficult to catch up with studies and get used to the new systems. I also didn't like studying.❞
In 2010, Seyeon moved into a trainee dorm. Kyungna went to New York shortly after, leaving Seyeon alone in Seoul.
Seyeon graduated from middle school in 2012 and attended the School of Performing Arts Seoul (SOPA), where she majored in Broadcasting Arts.
On December 3, 2013, Seyeon was introduced as a member of SM Rookies, a pre-debut team of trainees under SM Entertainment. This marked the first time Seyeon was officially revealed to the public. She quickly gained popularity for her visuals, but interest in her exploded after SM Entertainment released her practice and performance videos. Many immediately noticed her skills and talent, and she soon became one of the most popular SM trainees.
In 2014, SM Entertainment released a practice video of Seyeon performing BoA's "Girls On Top." The video quickly gained widespread attention, and Seyeon was praised for both her visuals and her skills. It led people to believe that Seyeon was SM's next soloist, and she was given the title "the next BoA." The practice video is now considered legendary among K-pop fans, with many claiming it marks the beginning of Seyeon's fame.
On November 16, 2014, Seyeon became the MC of SBS Inkigayo alongside Hwang Kwanghee and EXO's Suho and Baekhyun.
╭┈──── ◌ೄ◌ྀ ˊˎ
╰┈➤ ❝ 2016–2017: DEBUTS AND ROOKIE YEARS !
Seyeon's last Inkigayo broadcast as the MC was on April 3, 2016.
The following day, April 4, Seyeon was revealed as a member of SM Entertainment's new group NCT. The teaser received mixed reactions, as she was the only female among the otherwise male members, quickly becoming one of the most searched topics on portal sites. On April 9, she officially debuted as a member of NCT and its first sub-unit, NCT U, with the digital single "The 7th Sense."
On July 1, Seyeon was confirmed to debut in NCT's second sub-unit, NCT 127. The teasers again received mixed reactions, and Seyeon's name returned as one of the most searched topics on portal sites. She officially debuted as a member of NCT 127 on July 10 with the first album, "NCT #127".
In August, SM Entertainment announced the debut of NCT's third sub-unit, NCT DREAM. Seyeon debuted with the group on August 25 with the single "Chewing Gum." However, Seyeon's debut sparked controversy once again, this time due to her age. Although NCT DREAM was marketed as a teenaged unit of NCT, Seyeon was already an adult at the time of their debut. Netizens accused SM Entertainment of forcing Seyeon into NCT, claiming she should have debuted as a soloist or in Red Velvet, NCT's senior girl group. Because of this, even some of Seyeon’s own fans wanted her out of the group.
In 2016, Seyeon was the #1 most searched rookie idol in South Korea.
Despite the backlash, SM Entertainment ignored the controversy, and Seyeon continued to participate in NCT’s activities. The debate over her place in the group persisted throughout NCT’s rookie years. While Seyeon was often blamed for hindering the group’s growth and drawing negative attention to the group and its other members, she was also praised for her visuals, skills, and charisma. Over time, her popularity among the general public grew slowly but steadily.
╭┈──── ◌ೄ◌ྀ ˊˎ
╰┈➤ ❝ 2018–PRESENT: CAREER !
In 2018, Seyeon participated in NCT's first full-group project, "NCT 2018 EMPATHY". After the release of one of the title tracks, "Whistle", performed by Seyeon and the new female members, she went viral—marking her first breakthrough in international K-pop fan spaces. This project significantly changed the perception of Seyeon. For the first time in her career, she began receiving more love than hate and was seen as a backbone member of the group, rather than as SM's "failed experiment".
In August 2018, SM Entertainment announced Seyeon's graduation from NCT DREAM, alongside team member Mark, after the group's comeback in September. The news was met with massive backlash, and some of Seyeon's fans blamed another team member, Sona, who would join the group with the comeback. They accused Sona of trying to replace Seyeon, which sparked fanwars, with many people attempting to overanalyze the girls' interactions on camera.
Seyeon officially graduated from NCT DREAM on December 31, 2018.
In 2018, Seyeon became one of the most popular idols of the year and maintained her popularity throughout 2019. With the release of NCT 127's "Kick It" and the NCT 2020 albums, Seyeon went viral multiple times, further boosting her popularity and making her one of the most recognizable idols in the industry.
On April 14, 2020, SM Entertainment announced that Seyeon and Mark would be returning to NCT DREAM. She officially rejoined the group on May 10, 2021, with NCT DREAM's first full album, "Hot Sauce".
On December 27, 2021, SM Entertainment announced the debut of the female project group Girls On Top, along with its first unit, GOT the beat, in which Seyeon would participate. She officially debuted as a member of GOT the beat on January 3, 2022, with the group's first digital single, "Step Back".
Since 2020, Seyeon has continued to be the most popular member of NCT and one of the most beloved idols in the industry. She is known as an "idol of idols," the nation's MC, and one of South Korea's top "it-girls".

hi Bp,
I want to know why the encore situation with jimin was made a big deal ?
Because i know jimin is a good singer..maybe due to his in ear problem he might not be able to sing well..but all his live performances of face were so good ...but people totally ignored it and just attack him for encore singing and made a big deal of it
Do u think it might have affected jimin ?
***
Hi @minimun,
This is what I wrote in response to the hate Jimin was getting after SMF Pt 2 was released. Please read it.
The reaction k-pop stans had to Jimin's encore stage can be explained by the reasons I gave in that post.
To quote a relevant section:
"...so long as a project comes from a BTS member, the default inclination of most k-pop stans is to hate it. Nearly all the hate you’re seeing for Jimin’s Set Me Free Pt 2 was nearly guaranteed to begin with, the autotune just made it easy as the excuse. I mean, there’s a whole subset of k-pop fandoms who believe he can’t sing despite years of proof to the contrary. Since 2018 (precisely after BTS was awarded the Cultural Order of Merit award), the best case scenario from k-pop stans towards music released by BTS, is for them to ignore it. If you’re expecting any other reaction from k-pop stans besides avoidance or hate, you’re hoping for too much. Personally, I don’t think it’s a big deal, but I do think you need to calibrate your expectations to the reality of the environment you’re in. It’s one reason ARMYs are so fervent in their support of BTS."
If k-pop stans see that a comeback/debut from a BTS member is going to be massively successful, as Jimin's FACE was, they immediately go looking for anything to take away from that success. Fans of SM groups have also been on a campaign since the 2016 daesang loss of EXO to BTS, to assert that BTS is inferior to SM groups in terms of vocals, and so therefore BTS does not deserve their status as the biggest group in k-pop. They often target Jimin, Tae and Jin in these claims and constantly look for any chance to prove "Jimin can't sing". Even Jungkook sometimes gets attacked. After 2018 when BTS and Jimin were further differentiated from much of k-pop by the government, the wider k-pop fandom has joined SM stans to take every opportunity to make the group's status seem less legitimate and one reason they often cite is that BTS is less talented than other groups in vocals and they use Jimin as the scapegoat.
If you've ever doubted anything I've been saying about how k-pop fandom actually feels about BTS, that feeding frenzy from antis, k-pop stans, akgaes, the blatant schadenfreude on display over the clips of Jimin's encore stage, should disabuse you of every doubt atp. It's not like he's the only person who's had faulty in-ears during an encore and as a result was trying to find his key, he's not even the only person who has had a bad encore stage. Even Twice's Momo who made a similar gaffe during her encore for The Scientist, she didn't get as much of a backlash as Jimin did. It doesn't matter whether he can sing or not. They don't care about whether he can actually sing or else they would've seen all the several examples of Jimin singing comfortably and skillfully. The only thing k-pop stans are interested in, is humbling him. Jimin's unusual tone in k-pop makes him an easy target for many k-pop stans who read "different" as "bad".
As I've said before, Jimin is my favourite vocalist in BTS. He's an excellent vocalist in my opinion and I'm very proud of how he's improved since debut.
One thing about BTS that's true for them than it is for any group I've seen, is that they actually sing live more times than not.
youtube
It's more impressive for me that their vocals are still in good condition despite 10 years of going as hard as they've gone in their live renditions. It's impressive for Jimin especially given his high range and how he's only expanded and strengthened it over the years.
I don't think the encore stage 'affected' Jimin the way some people imply. He's his own harshest critic for better or worse, and I suspect there's nothing a kpoppie or stan could've written that Jimin didn't briefly consider himself. Of course all the chaos around it was embarrassing, that's expected, but also he's been through worse and if there's any legitimate criticism, the person who will get to the heart of the matter quickest is Jimin.
Jimin is already something of a beast of an idol, but after that encore stage and everything that happened during FACE, he's reflected on what he needs to do to become even better than he is...
...and I'm genuinely terrified for the future of k-pop because Jimin is about to become even more untouchable. I'm not even trying to gas him up or lean into my bias. With all the years I've watched him, Jimin isn't someone you want to bet against, ever, and a lot of people are going to be in for a rude awakening when he's ready to show what he's worked on. Ignore k-pop stans. They exist only to serve as background noise and spectate as Jimin continues to build on his artistry, continues to gain the respect of industry professionals, and thrive.
Stream Set Me Free Pt 2 for clear skin and a healthy bank account.

Valentine’s Day with Kyungsoo

Genre: EXO AU
Characters: Kyungsoo x Female Reader
Warnings: None
Word Count: 1,000
Summary: A sweet short story about Valentine’s Day with Kyungsoo using adjectives that seem to fit him and that correspond to the letters in his name.
A/N: This kind of just happened, as I am very in my Valentine’s Day feels at the moment, so I hope you enjoy it.
**Disclaimers: This is just me using my imagination based on what I’ve seen of DKS via media, so not real just for funsies. Credit for GIFS and pics should go to the original owners ( thanks Amino Apps and Martha Stewart!)
~*~
K
From the start you were attracted to Kyungsoo’s KIND personality. He was always helping the staff complete tasks, worrying out whether they’d eaten. You respected that he cared so much about others. And of course, this extended to you. As an “acts of service” man, Kyungsoo spoiled you with small things that brightened your day–flowers after a routine trip to the grocery store, filling your car up with gas, and home-made lunch made with love. You felt giddy knowing Valentine’s Day was coming up soon and wondered what your sweet Soo would prepare.
Y
You sighed in sheer bliss as you bit into your second YUMMY éclair of the evening. Kyungsoo smiled at your adorable reaction and as always, appreciated your enthusiasm for his creations. Kyungsoo didn’t claim to be a baker, in fact, he preferred the savory side of cooking. But you loved baking and he loved spending time in the kitchen with you. These days your apartment was practically a boulangerie, with both of you having to fend off hungry members left and right. Valentine’s Day was just around the corner and Kyungsoo was more than ready to whip up a slew of delicious treats.
(A/N: Kyungsoo creates yummy things and is, himself, also very yummy 😉)
U
Growing up as a theater kid, you loved nothing better than a good musical. Why act out lines when you could sing them? With any live concert, musical, movie, or show, the most important thing was the voice. Honeyed vocal runs and the soulful sounds beat out dancing and stage presence anyday in your book. Not long after you’d started dating, Kyungsoo obliged a request to sing at a Christmas party. It was there that you were introduced to his UNIQUE singing voice, so different from any other that you’d heard before. Was he really a Disney prince in disguise? Sources said possibly. He could sing for you any time, any day, anywhere.
N
Gentle rays of sun bathed the rooftop deck in a warm glow. Kyungsoo hummed softly as he collected his treasures–cilantro, tomatoes, parsley, peppers, green beans–all home-grown from his little, urban garden. Working with his hands in the dirt brought Kyungsoo a measure of peace from his hectic work schedule. Kyungsoo was a NATURAL at nature–green-thumbed and incredibly enthusiastic. You…were not, but he somehow found that endearing. He pictured you sitting in the lounge chair nearby “supervising” as you munched on snap peas. It felt natural to have you here in his little veggie kingdom. Taking the fruits of his labor, he whistled happily down the stairs, off to prepare something special for his someone special.
G
“So tell me again, why is Kyungsoo picking you up from my place?” your friend, Suzy, wondered aloud. “I mean–you guys live together, so…” she trailed off after giving you that look. You shrugged, unsure of how to explain to this self-proclaimed non-romantic. “He just thought it would be more exciting…”. And it was. Truthfully, it felt like your first date all over again–good gosh, you were even getting nervous. A knock sounded at the door, spurring you to smooth your dress and check your hair one last time. The door opened to reveal a GALLANT suitor looking resplendent (read: ) in a dapper, black three-piece suit. Kyungsoo extended his hand, gently taking your hand and placing it on his arm. He led you to a sleek, black town car, and soon you were speeding down the highway.
S
It had been difficult, but Kyungsoo had managed to keep his Valentine’s Day plans a complete surprise. He was a SECRETIVE man by nature, his job demanded it, and it was easy to hide details about his personal life from those who weren’t important. You were important and it almost physically hurt to keep something from you. Though he’d almost slipped once or twice he was confident you had no idea what was about to happen. Sliding a blindfold out of his pocket he motioned for you to turn so that he could secure it into place.
O
Even though your world was dark, you weren’t afraid at all. Kyungsoo kept a warm hand on your back as he guided you up a set of stairs. A door squeaked and you were hit with a rush of cool, night air. The soft, lilting tones of Ed Sheeran drifted through the night and you could swear you smelled Italian. Kyungsoo whispered in your ear, making you blush. He told you he loved you and was so very happy to spend another year with you. In the beginning, Kyungsoo hadn’t been so OPEN with his feelings. These days words of love spilled from his lips like wine, though you continued to treasure each one.
With a flourish, he removed the blindfold, revealing the most perfect setting you could imagine. Twinkling fairy lights lit up the familiar rooftop garden, a table set with gleaming silverware and fresh, white linens sat front and center. Pressing a kiss to your hand, Kyungsoo led you towards the table.
O
Kyungsoo couldn’t take his eyes off you. He observed as you savored the freshly baked bread rolls and twirled chicken fettuccine (your favorite) around your dainty fork, and inhaled a piece of divine dark chocolate cake. He knew you were wowed–the venue, the decorations, the food–you’d more than told him so. Yet, he was still unsettled, as he palmed the box hidden in his pocket. He was taking a big step–the step, in fact. He was OPTIMISTIC about his future with you, more than ready to truly have you as his own. After years of waiting, he’d finally have the love and warmth he so desperately craved. With shaking hands, he bent down on one knee…
❤
You said yes. Of course you said yes. How could you ever say no to the love of your life? The newly added weight to your left hand was a constant reminder of the most perfect Valentine’s Day. You weren’t sure how you were going to top this year’s Valentine’s Day celebration, but you figured you were up for the challenge. After all, there would be many more to come.
~*~
Thank you for spending Valentine’s Day with Kyungsoo. I really enjoyed writing this one. Just fun imaginings and whatnot! Please re-blog if you enjoyed this too so that others can find it more easily. Happy Valentine’s Day, y’all!
XOXO,
Emmy

What would be the reaction from BTS, idols, and just everyone else when Jungkook and Jennie kiss on the stage at the award show?
Brainstorming! I strongly believe this will break the internet and be a crucial part in K-Pop history. I hope that’s not too ambitious 😅 could even be a smol soft launch of their relationship with their kiss making headlines.
GOT7: I see Bam Bam shaking Jackson while Jackson looks shooked. Overall I see the group acting chaotic and loving the moment. Yugyeom chuckling and proud to see Jungkook be so open about Jennie even if it fit so well with the performance. You can see the love in their eyes as they danced and kissed.
IOI: I see various reactions such as dropping their jaws, widening their eyes, covering their mouths and giggling to themselves with cameras catching some of them mentioning how happy and cute Jennie is with Jungkook.
EXO: being great friends with Jennie they would be surprised and a little chaotic too. I see Chanyeol covering his face too lol.
TWICE: Mina and Jihyo looking at each other with big smiles since they know and support their relationship while the rest talked amongst themselves about how surprising the moment was
MONSTA X: I see their reactions being dramatic and in awe at their chemistry.
GFRIEND: I believe their jaws will drop before jumping and squealing with each other on their moment together. Hayoon giggling with the girls and pointing out the kiss. Hayoon would also be clapping happily with Yuji and Eunha.
Seventeen: Mingyu and The8 happily grinning to see their friends openly kiss on stage.
BTS reactions: So I was thinking the kiss wouldn’t be known from the members and was in the heat of the moment. Jungkook would initiate it and Jennie would happily go along with it, wanting to make a statement on stage.
Jimin and Taehyung: trying not to freak tf out as they focused on their performance. I see them grinning and glancing at each other. They’d be so damn proud to see their ship be this open with each other ❤️
Yoongi: would widen his eyes a little at the bold move and wonder if this was planned in advance. After the initial shock, I see him being amused. “These kids…”
Namjoon: I have a feeling he wouldn’t be so surprised because JenKook tends to be extra af so he’d be amused and proud to see them show affection to each other on stage.
Jin screaming internally along with Hobi because they were definitely not expecting it. I see them widening their eyes a little as well. After the shock, they’d would be happy to see the couple be this bold in public and focus on their performance
Audience reactions: Be screaming loudly and shocked at the sudden kiss. I see some thinking they are playing this BST sexy persona TOO WELL. Some upset Jennie is kissing Jungkook. Some upset Jungkook is kissing Jennie. JenKook shippers losing their minds. Other shippers surprised one BTS ship is showing huge affection on stage. Some pointing out the 97 Liners looking very supportive and happy.
I do believe there will be bad seeds saying Jennie is forcing her Americaness once again and the kiss being inappropriate because of her. And get upset that she is “ruining” the K in K-Pop.
This moment will go viral. I feel like viewers are always anticipating some kind of kiss or big moment on stage. And I see a lot pointing out how the kiss wasn’t a quick kiss, it was a longer than anticipated one. And how Jungkook held her. Not to mention “bedroom eyes” 🫢 I also see people praising their chemistry for the performance and people claiming they were just acting. Debates would occur on if their kiss was appropriate or not and I see people defending it, saying that it felt great with the song and that they were great actors.
“Why did YOU kiss Jungkook?” Would be the number one question she’d get on social media. Although it was Jungkook who initiated the kiss.
I see her quoting her BST lyrics for this:
“I did say no matter how much I resist I can’t fight what you’re doing. He kissed me. And I kissed back. I officially fell into temptation. 😉”
