Vivienne releases first solo mini-abum “ASTRALIS”
WISH’s Vivienne was the first member of her group to make a solo debut when she came out with her first solo single “Love Cherry Motion” in 2017. Since then, the maknae has released two full-length solo albums and a number of collaborations and solo Portal releases. Today, she’s made her return with her first ever solo mini-album in her first solo comeback in over a year and her first release since the BC Portal track “Come Over” with Knight’s Taeyong in February.
Following the galactic theme of her first solo album Across the Universe, ASTRALIS sits confidently in its place as a spring EP with a collection of musically light songs, even as the topics tackled range from the pains of romantic indifference to the up and downs of a budding love. Lucid’s Jeonghwa and Knight’s Duri make an appearance as featuring artists on “Jealousy” and “Purple” respectively and Duri makes an appearance in the composition credits of “Purple”, as another Knight member, Taeyong, does in the composition credits of “Jealousy”. Vivienne’s name appears in the credits many times as well across the areas of lyrics, composition, and arrangement, with all songs on the five-track mini-album featuring the idol’s creative involvement.
"So-So” is the song Vivienne will be promoting off of the mini-album. An acoustic pop track, “So-So” finds Vivienne trapped feeling “so-so” and lacking romantic excitement in her life. This is illustrated in the music video with Vivienne checked into the hospital to try to cure her. “So-So” will be promoted through May 30 on music shows and b-side “Jealousy” will also be staged solo for the first week of music show promotions.
Check out the track list and notable song credits below!

Taeyong and Vivienne release BC Portal song “Come Over″
Knight’s Taeyong and WISH’s Vivienne have released a new collaboration single through BC Portal. The two idols have previously collaborated on side tracks on their respective albums (”45.7cm” on Taeyong’s I’m Young, “First” on Taeyong’s Daydream, and “Wish You Well” on Vivienne’s To You), but this is the first collaborative single they have released together. “Come Over” is an dreamily ambient duet asking a love interest to “come over”. The music video accompanying the single is an animated sketch using plentiful space imagery to illustrate two people orbiting each other like planets. Taeyong and Vivienne are credited as the sole lyricists, composers, and producers for the song.

Vivienne releases “You, Clouds, Rain” featuring Joohwan ahead of solo album release
A few days before the release of her second solo album, To You, WISH’s Vivienne has dropped the album’s pre-release single “You, Clouds, Rain”. “You, Clouds, Rain” is a dreamily dreary post-breakup song about recalling the memories of a past lover that features Origin’s Joohwan. The pre-release contrasts the more romantic tones that encompassed much of Vivienne’s first full-length solo album, Across The Universe, hinting at what may be a more melancholic album in contrast. Vivienne is credited as the producer and lyricist for the track.

[INTERVIEW] WISH’s Vivienne talks second solo album To You
Despite her young age, Vivienne has already made a name for herself as the youngest member of the popular girl group WISH and has a blossoming career as a solo artist following the release of her first solo album, Across The Universe, back in 2017. A year and a half has come and gone, and the young idol has now released her second solo album, titled To You. Exclusive got to have the first interview with Vivienne about the release of her second solo album. Read what she had to say below!
How would you compare To You with your first album Across The Universe?
“My outlook on life; and by extension, love has changed as I’ve matured, and it’s affected the way I write, even if the songs are not necessarily about personal experience. That’s not to say my first album is immature, or something I regret doing, though! Both albums are about the different feelings that love can give you.
‘Across The Universe’ was mostly written about being with someone untouchable and dangerous for you, someone who makes your heart pound like crazy. It’s more an album for someone who’s starting to crush on someone- for example, ‘Eclipse’ is about the rush you feel when you become one with the other person, and ‘Singing in the Rain’ is about the euphoria you feel after that. You’re on top of the world!
‘To You’, though, is about heartbreak. The first three tracks are all in their own ways, about not wanting your lover to leave. They’re about pining and longing, about wanting to be better. The tracklist is arranged so that it tells a story- the songs after are about a breakup. There’s anger, denial, depression, acceptance and then, finally about moving on.
‘To You’ was written as a sort of sequel to ‘Across The Universe’, and if I had to simplify it, I think that ‘Across The Universe’ is about the beauty of falling in love, and ‘To You’ is the pain of falling out of it.”
Which song that you were involved in the creative process of was most difficult to create?
“While the other songs all presented their own unique challenges, I think ‘But, Are You?’ was the hardest to write. The lyrics are from the girl’s point of view, and her processing the breakup in her own unique way. She has a strong sense of pride, and the chorus of the song is about asking the person who broke up with her if they’ll be okay.
Moving on will be easy for her- at about the 1:50 mark in the song, she talks about how she’ll be able to live well, and that the only person she’s worried about is her ex. You understand throughout the song that she’s going to be able to accept and move on if they don’t rethink their decision properly, but the last part is her pleading for the other party to stay, because she’s never thought of a future without their presence in it. It’s sad when you re-listen to it, because now you know that she’s hiding that sort of pain behind her pride, and the other party probably doesn’t know it.”
What one song other than the singles would you most recommend people listen to off of the album? Why?
“Wish You Well! It’s warm and reassuring in its own way, and I think that when the friends who helped inspire this album get the chance to listen to it, they’ll be happy to hear the message of the song. I mean, doesn’t everyone want to receive a blessing to live well from someone they love, even if their relationship’s ended? I’m really, truly very grateful that I received this song from Taeyong, because it’s one of my favourite tracks. I actually had a really hard time recording the song, because I cried while listening to Taeyong recording his parts, and I just… wouldn’t stop crying for some reason. I hope everyone who still holds any pain or guilt in their hearts for their past relationships will be able to smile prettily after listening to this!”
Did you have any major inspirations when preparing this album?
“The album’s Korean title, 7월 7일 is actually a nod to the story of Vega and Altair. They were actually inspiration for my first album as well, but this album focused more on the sadness of their parting. Since they’re separated while still in love, I wanted to write about the devastation they must’ve felt. Of course, I wanted to modernise the folktale a bit, and so I wrote songs with that in mind as well as modern-day breakups where the couple are still in love, but one of them ends it. Real life doesn’t always work out as perfectly as we’d like, and I wanted to be able to write about the negative emotions that love leaves behind. When you put the titles of the album together, it can be read as ‘across the universe to you’, but also ‘to you, across the universe’. Depending on however you choose to listen to and interpret both albums, you can see it as the process of breaking up then falling in love again, or falling in love before being broken apart. Either way, it’s about the earnest heart of a girl who wants her love to be able to be conveyed even across the universe.”
What challenges did you face while making this album?
“My company was actually opposed to the idea of making this a more vocally-focused album, and it was supposed to be an album that continued to talk about heart-fluttering feelings. It was a bit hard to convince them to change their minds, but I think my idea of making this album the ‘sequel’ to the previous one might’ve been intriguing enough for them to give it a shot! That was actually the easy part, believe it or not. Both the company and I held the songs up to very strict standards, making the vetting process super rigorous. I think that for the 10 songs you see in the tracklist, there are maybe like… 90 unreleased that I’d written and done demos for just because I or the company didn’t feel like the vibe was right for the album.
I also don’t feel like I’m very gifted at singing- I’m not the main vocal for a reason. I re-rerecorded the songs a lot of times just because I didn’t feel satisfied with my technique. I pretty much stopped talking outside of schedules because I was so worried that my voice would go and I wouldn’t be able to record. Singing live on stage actually was a concern for me because I was genuinely terrified I’d lose my voice in the middle of a performance.”
What do you hope people take away from listening to this album, and is that different from what you had hoped they’d take away from your first album?
“Nothing has changed, because I still write with the same goal in mind. Of course I’d like for it to be able to pull at everyone’s heartstrings, but I think that’s impossible, right? To me, writing music is a way of keeping memories, and even though everyone might associate different things with the songs due to unique life experiences, I want them to be able to pause for a moment and have at least a lyric that 100% resonates with them. Music is a respite for me, and I want for my music to be a respite for them too.”
Where do you want to see your career as a solo artist go in the future?
“Of course continuing my solo career as a singer-songwriter, and maybe doing even more songs for other artists? I don’t really have any preference as to what else I want to do, but from what I’ve experienced, acting has been really fun and I’d like to try a role with a bit more depth to it in the future! Maybe a couple of CFs, like for earrings or food, too? But my main focus will definitely be on doing music! Maybe one of those 90 unreleased songs will see the light of day again.”
Do you have any other comments you’d like to make to your fans?
“I’m sad that promotions have ended, but I’ll be able to see you soon! I’m happy that you’ve supported me for so long and sadly, I don’t ever think that I’ll be able to make you as happy as you make me. I promise that I’m taking care of my health despite the schedules, and that I’ll continue to work hard for WISH and myself, and always put my best foot forward to show you a constantly improving version of myself. WISHing Wells are the biggest star, shining the most brightly in the dark universe! Thank you, and I love you more than the sun, moon and stars! Let’s stay together for a long time!”

[NEWS] WISH’s Vivienne announced as the new face of LG G7/G7+
It’s been a busy few months for Vivienne, and she doesn’t seem to be slowing down anytime soon! WISH’s youngest has been announced as the face of LG’s G7/G7+ line with a rumoured 3-month contract. LG stated that they had immediately approached BC Entertainment after seeing her during ‘Yes or Yes’ promotions. Known more for her solo music, fans were pleasantly surprised with the news.
The CF shows Vivienne skateboarding, at a cafe, in-line skating and even in the pool with friends. She ends it off with a cute hand gesture, telling viewers to concentrate. Her bright and youthful vibe is, according to a spokesperson, exactly why LG had wanted to cast her. “Vivienne fits the concept of a person who’s active and always on-the-go perfectly, and we’re excited to be working with her.” The smartphone brand will be releasing news on her fansigns soon.
COMMENTS
[+1,115, -94] really, vivienne is so pretty. she looks so refreshing and youthful here~ it makes me want to be young again too
[+997, -79] her aura is seriously amazing. she looks like the pretty girl next door you’d want to be friend with here. the one everyone says should be a celebrity, except vivienne already is one ㅋㅋ
[+725, -389] it feels a little like she’s more interested in being solo now than a member of wish? bc really likes to push their favorites, don’t they?
[+694, -398] if she can book cfs now, you know what that means ㅋㅋ she’ll be leaving to be completely solo any day now. she’s done solo music and acting, now solo cfs... what is she even in wish for if she’s only interested in herself?
[+402, -49] i bought a new phone at the end of last year but if it’s for her, i’ll buy a new one again. i can give my current one to my little sister ㅎ
[+217, -25] the concept reminds me of likey a little bit, am i the only one? i hope this is what wish’s next comeback is like
[+124, -41] “always on-the-go”? do you mean how bc is overworking wish? they got away with overworking knight despite fans complaining so now they think they can do it with wish too

Vivienne, Luna, & Yenny Release Collab Album “Mix&Match″
WISH’s Vivienne and Luna and Gal.actic’s Yenny have dropped a collab album! It’s a meeting of generations as the maknae of 2011-debuted group Gal.actic joins the main rapper and maknae of 2015-debuted group WISH for an unexpected collaborative effort stepping outside of the expectations of their respective groups.
The album, “Mix&Match”, has a sound a little more WISH than Gal.actic with its upbeat and cheerful pop tracks like “Girl Front”, but also delves into some more experimental sounds with the likes of “Loonatic”, which appears on the track list both as the English version initially released as a pre-release and a Korean version. The album starts off with two intros, the instrumental “Add” along with “Odd”, and also includes an extended version of the latter remixed with one of the title tracks to create “Odd Front”.
“Girl Front” is the first title track off of the album, and has a familiar bubblegum pop sound. The outside scenes of music video were filmed in Los Angeles and make for perfect summer visuals as the season comes to an end. Vivienne, Luna, and Yenny will be promoting the song for a month on music shows alongside the album’s other title track, “Sweet Crazy Love”.

Vivienne, Luna, & Yenny release “Loonatic (Eng. Ver.)” ahead of collab album release
A week before they’re set to release their collaborative album “Mix&Match”, WISH’s Vivienne and Luna and Gal.actic’s Yenny have dropped a pre-release single in the form of “Loonatic (Eng. Ver.)”. “Loonatic (Eng. Ver.)” is, as the title suggests, an entirely English track, and its label as the English version of the track also suggests another version may make its way onto the full album. The sound is unique to anything heard from WISH or Gal.actic so far, with its dream pop sound and its heavy and experimental production elements. As the pre-release, the track could hint at an experimental take throughout their collab album, or may maintain its uniqueness within the final track list of the album, which will be released on September 14.

Vivienne, Luna, & Yenny Release Music Video for Second Title Track “Sweet Crazy Love”
In addition to her music video for their collaborative album’s first title track “Girl Front”, WISH’s Vivienne and Luna and Gal.actic’s Yenny have also released the music video for the second of their double title tracks. “Sweet Crazy Love” is a blend of R&B influences and pop electronica sounds and has a similar utilization of poppy synths and catchy beats as its other title track counterpart. The music video is largely in black and white before bursting into color at the end, contrast to “Girl Front”’s bright summer palette throughout. The song will be promoted for a month on music shows alongside the album’s other title track “Girl Front”.

WISH’s Vivienne wrapped up in past bullying controversy
WISH’s maknae is no stranger to the headlines. With their summer comeback “Dance The Night Away” approaching, it was an extremely unfortunate time for a post on Nate Pann to go viral. The uploader garnered attention by claiming that Vivienne was an iljin back in middle school. The original article can be found below.
“Hello everyone. I’ve been seeing a lot of posts about WISH’s Vivienne, and I hate seeing the articles and comments praising her ‘good’ personality. I moved to Canada because of my parents’ job, and I hadn’t been there for very long before I started schooling. I was in the same class as Lee Sooyeon, since I’m an early ‘01 liner. She left when she was about 14, after having been casted by BC Entertainment. I don’t think she had any work done- her double eyelids were always that prominent, and her features were the same.
The reason I’m posting this is because I was made the victim of her ostracisation and bullying. My English wasn’t very good, and she always made me the butt of the joke whenever I spoke in class. She would even swear at me in Korean. During lunch, she would throw trash at me, claiming that I was going to become an cleaner with my grades anyway. Personality-wise, she was one of the b*tches who had to have everything go their way. There was once I tried to fight back and defend myself, but she dumped her food all over me and told me to go to hell.
I’m posting this because I hate seeing someone like her become so successful and adored. Her fans probably have no idea what she did in her past. I’m not jealous, or anything. I’ll admit she’s pretty and has good music, but her personality is worse than trash. I thought of committing suicide because of her. Someone like that doesn’t deserve the attention she’s getting. I hope people will see who Lee Sooyeon really is as a person.”
The original post quickly went viral, with netizens asking for proof. The poster then attached a yearbook picture of her, and answered questions posted in the comments section. A few days later, a thread on Twitter refuting the claims went viral. The tweets have been translated and condensed for easier reading.
“i recently came across an article about wish’s vivienne. while i’ll admit i’m a casual fan, the article shocked me, because i knew of her personality to be pretty good. i’m friends with someone who used to be in sooyeon’s school in vancouver, and i only realised they were in the same school because he mentioned that someone from his alma mater had made it as an idol in korea. i showed him a picture of her to confirm that she was the one he was talking about, and he was 100% sure it was her. he said he always saw her snacking whenever he passed by her class, lol.
i contacted him again, because i found the post a little hard to believe, and asked about her personality. he said that they were in different classes, and he didn’t know her that well personally, but from his few interactions with her, she was someone who you could get along well with easily. he never heard about her bullying anyone, and told me a few more anecdotes which i won’t repeat, in case the people who may see this think that i’m a big fan of wish and writing this to defend sooyeon. he only had good things to say about her, though, which does serve to say something about her. it’s your choice as to believe me or not, but i’ll personally continue to support lee sooyeon. the op, while replying to comments, actually got the place where she studied mixed up, confusing vancouver for toronto, lol. sooyeon, fighting!”
BC Entertainment has not released a statement yet.
What do you think? Are the rumours true or not? Is Vivienne not as sweet as we all think?
COMMENTS
[+4,211, -639] honestly speaking, she’s had dating scandals, a feminist controversy, and now she was a bully? bc should cut their losses and remove her before she loses wish all of their fans
[+3, 594, -502] the pretty girls are always bullies... why is anyone surprised?
[+3,025, -300] bullying is a serious problem. what does it say about us if we let bullies become public faces in our society? bc... please do something about her if this is true
[+2,464, -499] if that person didn’t even get the town she went to school in right, why are we believing them?
[+1,126, -221] really, aren’t there wish members with better personalities who should be getting all of the spotlight vivienne gets, like bibi or haeun?
[+614, -210] sounds like she had the celebrity disease before she was even a celebrity ㅋㅋ
[+203, -139] feminists = bullies
[+107, -88] i wouldn’t be surprised if all of wish were bullies during their school days... as a middle school student, they look like a pretty girl clique that would think they’re above everyone

WISH’s Vivienne faces backlash from male fans for reading feminist book
Vivienne has recently become the target of backlash from male fans after the WISH maknae was spotted bringing the book “Kim Jiyoung, Born 1982″ with her on a flight from South Korea to Japan for the group’s concerts taking place in Saitama. “Kim Jiyoung, Born 1982″ is often considered a feminist book, and as a result, some of the group’s male fans have taken to social media to declare they’ll no longer be supporting her as a part of her fan base.
Several posts have been made on different social media platforms showing fans burning the idol’s photo cards and throwing away merchandise with her pictured on it. Comments accompanying these videos and image included: “why would she neglect her male fans when we’re the reason she has money to spend on books at all?”, “dumb worthless b*tch”, and “i said the other day she’d be the perfect girlfriend, aish, she really had me fooled”.
COMMENTS
[+809, -77] “i said the other day she’d be the perfect girlfriend, aish, she really had me fooled”. he doesn’t even know her, and she wouldn’t date him if he did ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ
[+620, -103] everyone knows female fans are what makes idols money. that isn’t even official wish merchandise ㅋ ㅋ
[+501, -75] i’m happy to see young idols educating themselves. most of them get by on having pretty faces and empty heads.
[+403, -59] “perfect girlfriend” is this guy serious? i bet she wouldn’t even look at you if she passed you on the street
[+277, -49] you can tell she’s just reading whatever everyone else is to look smart. i don’t think she even understands it.
[+216, -40] these are probably the same men that said gross things about her when she was underage, why should she care what they think? if i had to deal with everything men say about her, i’d be waving a feminist book around too
[+140, -25] where are all the men who say feminists are all ugly and are bitter because men don’t look at them now?
[+94, -48] if she hates men so much, i’d like to see wish try and stay at the top without male fans
[+76, -31] now we know none of her dating rumors are true. only a desperate man would date a feminist

BC Entertainment clarifies bullying rumors around WISH’s Vivienne
After a post claiming that WISH’s Vivienne was an bully went viral, BC Entertainment launched an investigation into it. The WISH member denied that anything of the sort ever happened, and investigations have revealed that the post was written by a BC Entertainment anti-fan. The anti, a “Mr. Seo” has since been taken into custody, and admitted that the rumours were false. BC Entertainment has released a statement on the matter.
“Hello, this is BC Entertainment. The recent controversy that has surrounded WISH’s Vivienne has been proven false, and we are preparing a lawsuit against the person who spread the false rumours. We will take action against anyone who makes malicious comments. If anyone sees comments of the sort, please send an email with a screenshot to the email below. Thank you.”
Fans of WISH can breathe easy now that their idol’s name has been cleared! Do you think their comeback will be affected by this?
COMMENTS
[+3, 210, -59] isn’t it really pathetic for a man to pose as a kid that was vivienne’s age just to spread lies about her?
[+2,544, -100] wow... it wasn’t true then?
[+1, 979, -185] it must have been hard for her to hear these accusations if they weren’t true... isn’t she the victim of bullying then, in a way?
[+1,006, -92] it’s good to see bc finally taking action against one of their artists’ antis
[+625, -76] our sooyeonie, it’ll be okay! the true wishing wells knew it wasn’t true!
[+228, -54] she’s still a feminist with a fox personality so i won’t be supporting her
[+101, -123] don’t you think they made up this “mr. seo” to take the heat off of her?
