- he has asymmetrical earrings, one stud on one ear and two in the other. curious decision. but I do adore it.

- I think he's one of the taller (not tallest but not mid or shortest) ones canonically? and I'm personally a believer in him just being bigger than he wants to even acknowledge. I'm crazy and I researched the demon that his stigma is likely unscrambled out to be. Of course take this all with a grain of salt because although I screenshot these from book excepts available through Google scholar, well... It's demonology and hermeticism and occultism and I'm not here to debate their credibility.

and again, the commonality here is that 1) Astaroth stinky and 2) has some kind of knowledge of the past, present, and future/can divine these things at will. So? I hesitate to make any theories based on the evolution from a fertility goddess because it's a reach and I have little to no expectation that it will be a point in his lore in game, but the information is there for you to do with what you will.

tried drawing the mc from a dream i had recently... design and colors tbd(+placeholder clothes) but i decided to give him pink hair lol (more info under the cut)

ok im going to ramble a bit abt the lore now.... all this is tentative/im not sure bc it's based on a dream... he works for this organization that's basically like a super powered "peace keeping" police force/FBI type deal that paints itself as like super heroic & good & all abt justice... but it's secretly an evil organization that oppresses/experiments on monsters and hides this from the officers(except the higher ups) and the public... i think maybe 1 of the officers' jobs is to defend the public from monsters? (the monsters include animal-like ones but also magical creatures w human-like intelligence) but they secretly capture + do cruel experiments on monsters... and oppress them in other ways(?)

+ in the dream there was a resistance group of fox/werewolf-like shapeshifting monsters... ok im just gonna copy what i wrote here:

just gonna add that the mc prob joined the police force bc of the childhood friend incident (wants to protect ppl so this doesnt happen again?) + he was prob also chosen as a target by the resistance group bc of this incident too... like it's all connected... the childhood friend incident is related to the monsters... only they (and the evil org) know what rly happened... mc is chosen bc of his ties to that friend/the incident... maybe the childhood friend was a monster..? It's another birthday extravaganza! Birthday gatchas for all August-September 2024 birthdays have finally been released!

It seems that those brand-new birthday coords they talked about, the ones it took them so long to fix... just purple/blue recolors. I don't know why it didn't occur to me, but it seems like this is the direction they will be going in this year.

Except Shinya gets a slight recolor of his initial coord. But I guess that's still better than what he got last year... (nothing)

Also, the new t-shirt coords are kinda neat. They added new skirts with gradient colors and stuff that I'm sure people are gonna be making mix coords with. In particular, I really like Yui's.

Illuminate me on music!, I'm not good at it but I like hearing people talking things I don't know. So idk, start anywhere I wanna learn. Gimme music faces from emily's work

lol there's SO many places i could start. first, let me say that i get so in the weeds with this. you don't need to be me. however, murph and emily are really deliberate with their music placement so even if you don't go super deep, you can start to notice patterns, especially with the super frequently used songs.

when it comes to frequent songs, alli operationslipperypuppet also did a very helpful "hey how concerned should you be" breakdown of some common songs, which i'll link here. i would say if you want to start paying attention, some easy ones to check out and start listening for are the purge, unknown tome, kingshammer, valiant ol' cobb, mee maw's burden, a fate refused, the campaign themes, twinkling lights of galaderon, and a friend for life. all of these are available on spotify, with the exception of kingshammer, and have very consistent uses. (the bahumia theme isn't by emily, but is on spotify). if you want to hear kingshammer, a good use of it is around 50 minutes into c1e80, during hardwon's flashback (ad free, so you might have to go later for ads)

another thing to note is certain songs get very specific meanings when applied to given characters. mee maw's burden and unknown tome are used incredibly consistently throughout bev sr's hell arc. twinkling lights of galaderon and a bastard no more/hardwon takes the wheel (both names have been used) are used throughout hardwon's.

emily also tends to write a lot of location-based music. a lot of cities have their own themes and their own instrumentation. a great example of this is the tsunaire interlude from c3, which has a very unique sound. also for example, the crick tends to have a lot of similar instrumentation. if you listen through the crick album on spotify, you can start to hear it. there's a lot of strings/piano, drums, and a lot of notes are drawn out in a very specific way.

it's very consistent. there are also like 200+ songs written for this podcast at this point, and so knowing every one of them is insane. but if you start to be like "i've heard this song before, where did i hear it" chances are it's in a moment that connects thematically. i can go into a lot more detail about any of this, this kinda became a "hey here's how to start tracking naddpod music" post more than anything and not really about the themes/uses of songs, but! yeah!

some fun little bonus notes of songs that are only used a few times but that i am insane about the repetition of:

a song called "torn apart" is used when moonshine opens the rift to the feywild during the tarrasque fight, and also when the world is breaking apart after the thiala fight and the boobs heal it

"i just want to know you're taken care of" is the song that is played when moonshine tells paw paw to write up her will. it's also played when lydia tells her that she deserves to be heard by her friends and she should tell them about her plans in hell. it's also used in c3 when callie tells foster that she's sorry for not giving him love.

"a memory" is introduced in episode 100 as thiala shows everyone the failed past adventurers and the "wheel of sorrow". it has recently been used in c3 for both references to the boobs and to melora's adventuring party (melora/telaine/aryox)

there is a specific royalty free (i think) choral song that plays when gemma appears at the party, when gemma dies, when jaina almost kills hardwon, and then later when hardwon dies at scarlet montgomery's hands. do with this what you will.

this isn't about a reuse but the song that plays in ep 70 when moonshine and lucanus are talking is called "a miracle child" and i need more people to know that.

i am insane about "a glittering reunion" (from melora and telaine's in 97) on so many levels. telaine is the piano. melora is the strings. i need to lay down.

Metroid's timeline is kind ambigouous - not in the order of events and games; it's refreshingly consistent there, but how much time passes between them. And yet, the one generally agreed-upon exception is that Super seems to follow almost immediately after Metroid II.

But ironically, I think I'm coming around to the idea of hoping we get an interquel between them anyway, even if it ends up messing that up. Whether it be Prime 4 or a different game, I want to see something inserted between just like the Prime trilogy takes place between NES/ZM and Metroid II

One reason for this is that it would actually make the changed ending of Samus Returns slightly less of an issue. I still would be bothered by how the insertion of that big boisterous boss fight at the end wrecks the original game's simple, peaceful ending, mind you. But at the very least, putting some chronological distance between Proteus Ridley and the Ceres Station encounter would kinda fix the problems Ridley's inclusion created for the opening of Super.

Like, dropping off the baby Metroid at an unguarded civilian facility was always a bad idea no matter how you look at it, but before SR it was at least a reasonable decision to make that unexpectedly backfired; whereas now, after Proteus Ridley came screaming out of nowhere, (also how did he even know about Samus's mission on SR388 in the first place?) it feels incredibly shortsighted on Samus's part to just be like "yeah this is fine nothing to worry about, these Ceres guys got it all covered" immediately afterward.

If there was instead a whole other adventure between, that would give more time between Proteus Ridley and Ceres for the incident to fade a bit, especially if Samus spends some of that time looking into the Space Pirates again, and finding nothing to indicate that meeting as anything more than a fluke. On top of that, it could also lead into Ceres a bit better anyway; Samus bringing the hatchling along on her next mission, only for that to end up endangering it (or it inadvertantly endangering others) in some way that convinces her it's better off somewhere safer rather than by her side. (And lending extra tragedy to the mistake that turns out to be.)

But all that like, broader metanarrative continuity-management stuff aside, I also think we should get this just for its own sake. There was potential after Metroid II, for a different sort of game, for a companion. Super, for better or for worse, (IMO it's a bit of both) quashed that notion. But maybe we could have our cake and eat it, with the addition of a new game during that window between, properly giving us a shot at answering Metroid II's setup, without contradicting the subsequent installments; potentially even strengthening them somewhat instead.

Finally, it would just be dang cute.

So for Bolin, I don't have many ships I like for him other than weilin? I think a lot of his canon ships share the theme of either enabling his infantilisation or patronising him. Bolin needs a partner that would support amd challenege him into maturing, but the writers won't give that to us because writing character development is hard.

At least with weilin I can work with my own ideas?

Mind you it's not that I can't get behind other ships, in the right setting,I'm just very picky about how Bo is characterised.

As for Wei, he doesn't have a lot of interactions with any characters outside of Bolin, so I really don't have a lot of ships with him.

One thing I'm sick of seeing is Beifong family incest? If my daily scouring of the web for weilin crumbs is interrupted by a threesome between Wei, Wing and THEIR FATHER, I will blow this solar system into smithereens.

I'm pretty vanilla when it comes to Suyin ships. I adore Sutar they're adorable and I wish we could've seen them when they were younger. I adore the idea of Suyin finding someone to build a life with, I adore the theme of carving out and building a place to call home together, I adore how they're the poster children for malewife/girlboss.

Though one of my crackships is Suyin x any member of the Red Lotus. This would probably place itself somewhere in my Red Lotus! Beifongs AU.

I'm not too fond of Suvira? Like I absolutely get the appeal, in theory. And while Kuvira doesn't consider the Beifongs family, she has been under Suyin's care since she was 8. Most mentor/protégé ships aren't my cup of tea. There are very specific exceptions, but as a rule of thumb, I shy away from this theme.

For Lin, I'm very partial to Linzolt, thanks to my wife. Very interesting dynamic. I also like shipping Lin with women of course; Kyalin, Linsuko, Lin x Buttercup Raiko - all bangers. I like Linzin for what it could've been. I also think Lin x Pema is a fun crackship. Maybe they saw Korrasami and were like: 'hey why not?'. I do however like Lin with Tenzin and Pema together? They'd be a cute throuple. I have a tendency to enjoy shipping Lin with married couples because I tend to ship Lin with San and Naoki as well (Mako and Bolin's parents)

Asami. Like most of the fandom, I adore korrasami. Though I'll be honest when I say... masami was kinda cute? Honestly, any ship where Asami is happy gets a thumbs up from me.

That being said I'm always in the market for some toxic yuri, so Asami x Kuvira or Asami x Jargala are both very intriguing to me.

Another one of my favourite guilty pleasure ships I'm much too invested in is Opal x Asami.

Think about it. They're both rich girls who were isolated from the world. Imagine them sharing stories of the wide world. Imagine Asami upgrading Opal's wingsuit and Opal bringing Asami trinkets from all the places her Air Nomad journeys take her. Imagine Asami getting a real family as the Beifongs adopt her. Her getting a father that would never betray her in Baatar Sr.

Idk I think they'd be good for each other. I think I need to make a longer post on Asami x Opal.

Opal is my favourite female tlok character (Bolin being my fave male character) and tbh I hate her being demoted to a love interest.

That doesn't mean I don't ship her with anyone.

Sapphic Opal has my heart and soul. I ship her with most female characters of the show. Korpal? Exquisite, did you see the synchronised airbending scene? Opalvira? Love their divorced vibe in rote! Opal x Asami? Unsung favourite! Opal x Eska? Opal x Ginger? Yesyesyes!

I'm not very into Huan x Ikki. Like, I do get why people like it. And I'm not that against age gap relationships. One of the healthiest relationships i know irl has a huge age gap. "Who's your favorite Beifong?" Now that.. requires a huge @$$ long answer, babe! Grab a coffee and seat down. ☕️ — I have three different answers to this, organized by category, because I can't simply just choose one Beifong, so.. ◇ My favorite based on "emotional attachment" is definitely Suyin (kinda of an unpopular choice). I simply can't help but love every aspect of her, she's so beautiful, bright and collected - I love how against all odds she overcame her traumas the healthiest way she could, rebuilt her whole life, never gave up on reconnecting with the people she loved and missed after all, etc. I have an immense amount of respect for her - she's the personification of growth, maturity and forgiveness. And I love that for her for many reasons! Her adult self reminds me a bit of Sokka in a way, that probably helped to establish my "emotional attachment" towards her as well! ◇ My favorite based on "complexity and strength" would be obviously Lin. Lin is the character I validate and understand the most too, I enjoy analyzing her whole story and personality. I'm a Psychology student, so it makes sense to me that I loved her instantly and so much (apart from being a Toph seed), she was presented to us as the typical tough character ofc but I was amazed how many layers she turned out to have, how profound and complicated her traumas, choices and path turned out to be. I love and respect Lin for reasons that are completely different from Su (they are completely opposites). Lin's psychological strength (physical too, ofc), courage and endlessly emphaty always get me. I would fight anyone just to protect her! ◇ And of course, my number one girl.. Ultimate Favorite in the entire franchise.. the ORIGINAL Beifong; TOPH!! I don't even think I need to explain myself on this one, do I?? Everything I listed about her daughters comes from Toph Beifong and even her imperfections are kinda perfect to me, she is one of the most brilliant characters in the franchise hand down. In fact I believe their daughters inherited a lot of Toph's values, beliefs and characteristics. They are her legacy in a way, probably part of the reason I love them so much too. But anyways.

"And who do you ship them with?" That's piece of cake! For Su; Suyin/Baatar Sr. ◇ For Lin; Linzin & Kyalin, maybe Linzumi too — I do think Lin & Tenzin are soulmates who could never be though (This is actually a can of worms, 'cause I have A LOT to say regarding this entire ship!). ◇ And for Toph; Tokka yesterday, Tokka today and Tokka for always!♡ I can't actually picture Toph with anyone else, for some reason. I tried (with her other love interests and all).. But It's just not it for me. Kanto we've never even seen & Satoru was more of a simp - nothing against it but it kills the mood for me that he's a fanboy who'd spend their whole relationship praising her & kissing the ground she steps on, not into that for Toph (or any human being) in a relationship. — While with Sokka (even tho it was just a childhood crush & he was a bit older) I think they were a perfect match for a future relationship; They were opposites in the right amount, but also pretty similar (in terms of sense of humor and some values). I love how they completed each other in their dynamic, how Sokka was so kind, supportive and understanding - they had a real profound bond and he was always offering to help her out (if needed) or trying to protect her, even tho she hated to be treated like that; he was her exception. And Toph genuinely respected him (jokes apart) & would consider his opinions, even embracing his stupid ideas. It was simple and sweet. Not to mention the fact that Sokka would never pick fights with her (not that I remember), whenever Katara would ask him to intervene in their fights he'd be like "Nah, leave me out of this" and I do think that that's what intrigued Toph, he would listen to her & validate her feelings since Day 1. Then we cut to TLOK; at Yakone's trial when Sokka is giving that sentenced speech and start praising Toph for developing the Metalbending skill by herself; his facial expression immediately changes to something more affectionate (genuinely smiling at her), then Old Toph telling Korra about when she taught Aang earthbending and feeling the need to mention what happened to Sokka that day (should've been insignificant, but she kept that memory from that day) and then Suyin & Lin's small details or characteristics that were related to Sokka in ATLA (Like their usage of adapted metal swords to fight, Su's collection of meteorites, how Sokka was always praising Toph for inventing the Metalbending and later Su building a whole city out of it where Toph's achievement would be praised and immortalized for once and all, not to mention Su & some members of the family looking like Sokka, I'm pretty sure that was purposely done by the creators in a way to keep Sokka's design, idk & it makes me the happiest that it was done in the Beifong family). It's impossible not to acknowledge the impact Sokka had on Toph, they truly loved each other and loved being around each other. Romantically or not, canon or not - it's impossible for me not to ship them.♡

predictions for next nu carnival character maybe?

so when the devs released the new PV, one of their tweets also mentioned a new member. a lot of people are hoping its another bottom. a lot of people are also hoping for a hairy bara bottom, but i think olivine and morvay are the bare(ha) minimum closest we'll get to it.

We have 3 human love interests and 7 nonhuman love interests, of which 3 are yokai. it would be nice to have another human love interest, although if he was nonhuman, it would be nice to have him not a yokai or not ambiguous like rei & quincy. Of the love interests, we also have 1 obvious extrovert (blade), a half extrovert (garu/karu), 2 possible ambiverts (olivine & dante), and everyone else is a very likely an introvert. can we get a bottom thats actually extroverted? We also only have 1 guy from the Fire territory, and no one from Dark territory. (Technically we don't know where Rei is from, and Blade & Garu don't originate in the Dead Zone, we just found them there).

Other missing characteristics: anyways, then i remembered that a lot of people call Rei as kuya if he was a bottom, and Dante as edmond if he was a top, and i personally see blade and garu as bottom/top comparisons of each other. which means yakumo and olivine are the only ones who don't have a "opposite role" version. obviously, olivine's already a bottom, so that means i'm guessing we'd get a bottom version of yakumo. so like an anxious, borderline yandere service bottom? Also, except for Olivine (and Morvay) all the bottoms are fairly vanilla (yes Rei's a power bottom, but i don't think he's kinky). A yandere bottom might be an even bigger masochist than Morvay/Olivine. Although if we take out the anxious part, and Rin became a bottom clan member, then we'd get the yandere bottom xD

Battle or plot-wise, I think the only thing we're missing is a good tank other than morvay. (Seriously, none of the SSR guardians beat SR morvay at the moment. There are reviews that say Rainy Rei is better, buuut he's an limited event SSR whereas everyone gets morvay from the beginning). Alternatively, Rei's low rarity units were all sabateurs when previously it was only Kuya. Currently, Olivine and Yakumo are the only support and healer low rarity units, so I suspect any new members might be a healer or support. (Honestly we don't need any more low rarity strikers).

As for "jobs"/plot archetype of the love interests, we have the chef/healer, the priest/teacher/healer, the knight/security, 2 kinda ancient magic users, 2 hand combat fighters, a royalty, and a scientist. 4 of them personally knew Huey (+Aster&Morvay, although Garu might have been kidnapped by Huey?). If I think in terms of D&D/other fantasy "roles", we have a lot of the combat/royalty/healer roles fulfilled, and Aster/Morvay fulfills the trade roles. So maybe an entertainer (i.e. Bard, Jester, etc)? And because NU: Carnival is NU:Carnival and they had the guts to put Morvay in a gloryhole room, i'm thinking an actual sex worker. And since sex/essence regulation is a key part of this universe, he can still be plot relevant. Also, that way we can finally have another experienced kinky character that could be an extroverted service bottom. It's only in a porn gacha game that revolves around sex, would we be able to find a sex worker as a useful role. Please utilize this opportunity! Especially since your protagonist worked at a sex toy company.

Sooo piecing all this info together, i'm hoping we get a bottom, who is mostly human, extroverted but possibly anxious, possibly kind of yandere, a sex worker, from either the Dark or Fire territory, and is another tank, healer, or support.

the green guy on the left is Man (he/him). I made him when I saw a mask item on Roblox that i wanted to use so I quickly threw together a silly little goober. it's gotten a bit out of hand. there is no other inspiration for this character /srs. he's my favorite oc to rp!

the orange-wearing guy in the middle is Cork (he/they). he's been stuck in timeline shenanigans outside of his control for who knows how long. i'll definitely talk about them more in the future! he's my favorite oc overall, outside of rping.

the little silly menace in the rightward background is Dimy Dryer (he/him). he's 14 but he's full of childish whimsy. news flash: towers of showers roblox fandom is now real. except i dont even play tower obbies just my bf is kinda the creator of that game. dimy started as a joke between us that has also gotten a bit out of hand. i just kinda wanted to add him to the drawing tbh

This might be wrong, but I read that feijoada was made with pig feet, snout, ears, etc (I think to make the broth?) back in the 16th century, and I got obsessed with the idea of Hannibal using the human analogs for those.

I never posted what I wrote anywhere bc it's kinda cringe and unedited lol. The premise was post-fall, Will needs facial reconstructive surgery for his stab wound, like how Hannibal got his sixth finger removed in Rio de Janeiro after he escaped prison. Here are some Brazil-related snippets!

A rewrite of the Marcus Hotel scene from Silence of the Lambs (except Will is actually getting plastic surgery haha):

The doors of the elegant Hotel Marco in Rio de Janeiro slid open and hit Hannibal with a gust of air conditioning. He wore comfortable white linen and a Panama hat. His hair was an ungodly shade of bottle blond. A neat surgical bandage covered his nose and cheeks. Soft piano music drifted from the lounge. At the bar, Hannibal could see two people with bandages across their noses. A middle-aged couple crossed to the elevator, humming a Jobim tune. The woman wore a gauze patch over one eye. “Boa tarde, Sr. Wyman,” the concierge greeted him as he passed the reception desk. Hannibal nodded to him before joining the couple in the elevator. He set his bag of groceries down in the kitchen of the penthouse suite. The suite seemed luxurious to him after his long confinement. He enjoyed running his hands over the cotton bed comforter and the stainless steel fridge. After sorting the groceries, he indulged in a long shower. From the window, he could see across the street the premier clinic for craniofacial surgery in Brazil, where Will had recently undergone maxillary reconstruction and received a four molar dental bridge.  This was the one place in the world where Hannibal could walk around with a bandage on his face without exciting interest, and he’d taken advantage of that to make his first foray into the public since their flight to Rio. I’ve made it before, but this will be my first time using authentic Brazilian sausage.” He’d been looking forward to it but was in danger of losing concentration with Will this close. He smelled of blood—from the butcher most likely—and forest underneath it. “You’ve been to Tijuca National Park again.” “Lots of tourists there,” Will said, as if in explanation.
