So... Random thought here about Kassandra and Basim...
(Also, Valhalla/Odyssey spoilers. So, thoughts under the cut I guess...)
Kassandra takes the staff, carries it for like 2,400 years, dies to hand it over to Layla... Only for Layla to almost immediately disappear and for it to end up with Basim? 😐 Loki-Basim? One of the main antagonists of Valhalla? Now has the staff? And Kassandra spent 2,400 YEARS in solitude, living far longer than she ever wanted to, watching everyone she ever cared about die, to get it safely into Layla’s hands, only for that to happen. It feels like such a waste of her life. To be made to go through all that only for it to essentially have been pointless. Because I can’t imagine it’s a good thing Basim now has it. (Unless Mirage ends with Basim in modern day somehow shoving off Loki’s influence?) He may be a good guy in Mirage, but we know how he ends up with Valhalla. He’s not great, people.
And some folks are confused as to why I'm salty over Basim being the protagonist now? 🙃

I really wish people drew Caspar more.
He gets so little attention and it really hits home just how much the fandom doesn't care about him.

Sexiest Podcast Character — Eye Bracket — Round 3
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Propaganda
Cecil Gershwin Palmer (Welcome to Night Vale):
Purple eye man <3
Hes like, THE eye narrator guy for podcasts imo.
THE tumblr sexyman
Not too short or tall, not fat or too thin. With hair, a nose and eyes. Look, hes hot and sexy because he's an ambiguous gendered male pronoun character who's openly gay imminently. His hotness comes from his lack of description and his silly, whimsical nature. As a "The idea of having sex with my physical body is kinda yuck" ace, I would have sex with him irl if given the chance. He is the ONLY exception for my own minds rule. While that might not be real propaganda or whatever it should have weigh of how hot he is.
John Doe/The Entity (Malevolent):
He is literally the hottest character. It's literally just a hot voice and yellow eyes, the rest is up to your imagination Also funny??? He is so funny please, we love a entity with humor Rip to Arthur but if I would get possessed by John I would do anything he ask no question asked.
De-throned eldritch god who willingly fractured himself because he cared so much about the guy whose body he was originally trying to steal. Literally has control of said guy's eyes, and eventually one of his hands. The inherent homoeroticism of two people sharing a body and struggling to hold on to their humanity and so on.
Sharing a body with someone is already intimate without being a incomprehensible being from another dimension with memory problems
An amnesiac fragment of an Elder God trapped in a dread tome, and now bound to the eyes of a private detective
#mari is sexiest #john archivist is the most eyeful #cecil is the most narratorly #kass is both sexy and narratory #but john doe is the full packidge baaaaby #he may not be the best in a single category but he's an even split across all three #i dont know who nickignik is and at this point im afraid to ask so [they get] Sexy Eyes

(idk if anyone wants to keep hearing my opinions on totk book stuff but-)
apparently it says that rauru DID have kids, multiple even, which yeah... is kinda necessary for zelda to even be connected to them so much so that sonia can SENSE a blood connection (which, even with all the excuses with magic, is just a little too far for me to suspend my disbelief bc its over, OVER, ten thousand years worth of generations that seperate her from them that one lil touch of the hand can sense that (feels more like an attempt to make you care about them or .. see them as zeldas "better" parents just bc they exchange a few nice words, i never got the feeling they were 'better' parents and its also kinda disrespectful to her actual parents, like sure rhoam wasnt the best but i wouldnt call rauru better just bc he was polite)- i could see maybe the light power of hylia or sth but since its the coolest dude that ever lived rauru now that had it which still doesnt make sense and makes me unreasonably annoyed and she can sense BOTH of their powers in her? nah) the fact theres NOTHING about them in the game itself is just so ... no way they planned any of this
i dont think theres anything they can do or say that wont make be believe they either
are making it up alla 'fix it in post' mentality trying to hastily explain stuff the game never bothers to do to try and appease fans or let it appear as if they thought about it at all
something went really REALLY wrong during development, which kinda seems likely given how the game turned out (im sorry i cannot let go, its not just the writing, the game design too and how little was changed in the map while being so damn expensive, i dont know how people dont feel scammed q_q)
given that they (allegedly) spent the last entire year of development on polish (where??? where????? huh??? like it would make it more understandable (EXCEPT for the price) if there was alot of trouble, which was also bc it got delayed and ... turned out like this, but they dont want to say it, especially given their reputation, with that quote i have heard way too many times 'a delayed game blah blah') i just??
are they just gonna go and do it like they did with kashiwa (kass)? "they uuuh where flying around the whole time ony cool sonau tech maschines, you just dont see or hear from them ooooorrr they were uuuuh out of the country at the time" (sending invitations to other continents to join their glorious kingdom ;) )
(bet they are also gonna say they did all the stuff like ... moving the shrines around (lol?) and lifting the islands up into the sky- which is still weird bc ... didnt they also say they were living in the sky before coming to the surface?? so where?? did they park all their islands on the surface and the mystery kids had the keys so they had to repark them back into the sky after they returned off camera?? xD also why are the islands so different as an environment if they where from the surface? like even the STONE up there is different- and if they were first in the sky then on the surface and the nback in the sky .. why is there not a single yellow tree or grass in the past- you cant really argue that it changed bc they were up there so long bc .. nothing else changed, the suddendly and totally always there sonau buildings are largely in prime condition, only some slightly moldy, and what we see of the glorious past looks barely any different from the present, aside from like ... some standard trees shuffled, no castle yet and that glowy uwu filter DESPITE that stupidly long time frame between it)
#ganondoodles talks#zelda#ganondoodles rants#idk if others feel like that too but i cant shake the feeling there was something that either went horribly wrong during development-#-or the entire thing was neglected the whole time which is why its so .. i hesitate to even call it bare bones#...which is WILD given that its the supposed sequel to their best seeling zela game#like wtf where you doing#i get that the pressure can be immense but imo it wasnt that hard to make a sequel to thats better than totk#like i think it was harder to make totk like it is NOW bc it scraps and throws away so many things you could have easily used-#-as sequel material#its all so weird to me#my tin foil hat theory is still that they saw the success of the mario movie and immediately shifted everything to make more movies#bc it made so much money#and a movie is easier to make than a good game#so totk or botw2 at the time got the short end of the stick#which is why everything feels like .. so ... bare bones .. untested .. unfinished .. non sensical...#like an alpha build that got enough visual polish to look like a full game when its still an alpha build at its core#some main ideas like the abilities implemented and the basic map layers#mechanics functioning but untested on how it feels to play#like the sage controls and arrow fusing and ... contradictory game mechanics that dont work together#like the bulding WORKS but its clunky and underused- everything can be cheated so easily you dont even feel good cheating-#-bc it feels like the teacher just allowed you to mark your test with a green circle and you still got an A (or however USA grades work)#despite not even reading the questions- why attempt to solve a puzzle if you can just skip it#and how they tell you to be creative with it yet creativity gets punished and only efficiency is rewarded#which completely undermines the entire thing#...theres so much more you know i have ranted about it all before#ALSO rauru and sonia seemed like a rather newly wed couple to me- not one that had multiple kids that never appear-#since it only mentions rauru ..... if its only his then ... that doesnt explain anything bc zelda needs both sonia and rauru dna#................do sonau leave eggs to incubate somewhere heavenly or sth#watch out the springs where built to hatch rauru eggs bc they need the gods holy blessing bc they are oh so holy to hatch

DESTINYTOBER: Day 29 - Salvation's Edge
Read it on AO3
Dramatis Personae:
Yilwren . . . . . . . .@flowers-of-io
Euphea-7 . . . . . .@euxiom
Chirraek . . . . . . .@xivu-arath
Damascus-12 . . .@endivinity
Kass . . . . . . . . . . .@phthalology
I.
It appeared before Lilith as it had in the Black Garden. A mirror copy of herself in every regard except for the eyes, fathomless black ringed with an accretion disk of blinding white. It could take her face, but it couldn't hide its soul.
— In Light, there is only death. —
Lilith didn't let it corner her like she had in the Garden. Wordlessly she turned away, but it remained in her field of view.
— In your attempts to harness both, ruin. —
She attempted to walk past it, but it stayed impossibly just a few steps in front of her.
— What happened to her is a prelude. There is still a chance for you —
Instantaneously combusting with Solar Light, she drew forth her sword hurtling an arc of fire toward it.
Just as quickly, it was gone.
II.
Yilwren didn't have time to think when he heard the dawnblade cast. Drawing his sidearm, he ran toward Lilith's position, ready for a fight.
Instead, he found her standing alone, sword in hand, black scorch marks in a hieroglyphed wall beyond her.
"Is everything okay?" he asked. Startling, she pivoted on her heel to face him.
"I don't . . . it came to me." Despite the lack of imminent danger, Yilwran's heartbeat spiked. "It looked . . ."
She let the sword disintegrate into sparks. Brushed off her hands against her robes.
". . . Never mind. I'll sound crazy if I say."
Yilwran felt the blue drain from his face. Leaned in close enough to not be heard by their approaching teammates, and whispered: "Is it copying you, too?"
III.
A hand the size of a fallen skiff poised above the passageway like the head of a serpent, impossibly many fingers fanning open around a central palm in threat display. It gesticulated as if it was a flipbook animation, a collection of snapshots in time rather than something moving in it.
Maybe that's what it was. Maybe it only gave the impression of living in reality, but skipped between potentials like pages. If so, how could they ever beat it?
Euphea-7 held onto the hope that it was surmountable. Zavala's words, relayed from the dissenters, rang through her mind: What was made can be unmade.
The hand struck, catapulting blocks of stone as the ground quaked violently enough to throw her off balance. She lobbed a volley of grenades, and it flinched away —
IV.
When the massive hand withdrew into nothingness and cleared the path ahead, the exomind crossed the destroyed floor with the effortless leap of a hunter and a lightbearer's disregard for danger.
Chirraek hesitated. They didn't have the privilege of a talkative mobile oversoul, and while they were willing to risk their life to defeat the Witness, they didn't want to jump into a trap either.
The crater was deeper than they're tall, much wider than the wingspan of their robes. They were reminded that their ancestors were once the smallest things in the universe. For all the world-ending power of the Hive, they were still a minuscule speck, lives robbed of meaning by its dire machinations.
Euphea waved for them to follow. 'Safe to cross,' they make out from her speech, 'gone now'.
Chirraek hadn't been sure how they'd be received by the human lightbearers, and was relieved to find them amiable despite steep language and steeper culture barriers. It seemed they all spoke the universal tongue of grievance.
Trusting in their team-mate, they glide across safely, both moving to catch up with the rest of their team.
V.
It appeared as a sphinx the size of a city block, massive faceted onyx body tapering upward to a long, wide neck, downward to thin digitigrade legs. It walked silently on slender fingertips, and peered groundward with a blank white face, empty black eyes.
If it'd wanted the team dead, they'd be dead, Damascus-12 reasoned. Instead it circled and watched. Damascus watched back, even as the others retreated to the presumed safety of the narrow hallways beneath.
"Do you have a riddle to give me?" she asked aloud, thinking about the old world stories she'd heard. Sphinxes guarded, and they challenged, and those clever enough to solve their puzzles were granted passage. The unclever were eaten, which was not a fear she had being both smart and thoroughly indigestible.
"Are you trying to get us killed?!" hissed Lilith, locking Damascus by the arms and dragging her bodily toward the exit. She wasn't sure it heard until it looked in her direction and said to her alone:
— Have I not already? —
VI.
At this altitude, the fractal repetitions of its form spiraled and looped over itself, becoming a visually inexplicable bramble of body and arms and tendrils and tines, pieces of rubble embedded throughout. This was the roadway the team found themselves on, climbing inexorably upward.
The Light was everywhere, in everything. Perhaps this is why The Witness didn't notice a team of Guardians summiting its stony carapace. Or, perhaps, they were simply too small a unit of life to react to — germs who hadn't yet been detected by the immune system.
Kass wished she could be as oblivious to it. The portion of her face scarred over with silver-white tree bark throbbed with pressure. Proximity to paracausal extremes had produced physical reactions before, but never to this extent.
She wondered what it would have been like to experience the Traveler's awakening in this form. Would exposure to pure Light have been as painful as Darkness?
"Eyes up," Yilwran spoke in a hushed tone to the team as they approached a clearing in the tangle. Looming overhead, the forebody of the Witness, arms fanned around, eyes closed, statue-still except for the endless swirling plumes wafting from its head.
Anticipation buzzed as palpable as Arc as she followed her teammates toward their final confrontation.
