still in awe at the fact that the erins refused to give tawnypelt and crowfeather--2 of the 6 main POVs in a 6 book arc--any POV book of their own.
one of my biggest issues with crowfeather (pre-feather fridging anyway) is that he’s extremely unlikeable and unsympathetic. oh poor angsty boy wants to beat up old people and is constantly aggressive to everyone else for no perceivable reason?? at least tawnypelt was a pre-existing character from a previous book/arc; we can make inferences from her actions in TPB, though i still think she needed her own chapters.
crowpaw?? a character who was not previously introduced??? nope! just have feathertail constantly vouch for him and tell the others “he’s rlly nice if you take the time to know him!”
take her word on it, trust us he’s actually super deep and mysterious and not a terrible candidate for a romantic relationship trust us
#wc#tnp fails in so many ways as a sequel to TPB#say what you want about oots but most of the negative trends you can see post TPB were#exacerbated or born in TNP. you can TELL that these writers were not planning a sequel series#i feel bad because its so obviously written on the fly but also the authors created these major narrative flaws here and then chose#not to correct them later on#arc 1 isnt perfect but you can tell it was written with basic plot structure in mind. every arc following it falls off by the 3rd book or so#which is ridiculous. crow is a pretty significant char going forward and they want us to like him so bad#shummy screaming into the void#oooh i could make a killer video essay abt tnp in general#EDIT: TO ADD BTW THE WAY HE FALLS FOR LEAFPOOL IS EXTREMEMLY UNCOMFORTABLE AND...IDK IF THEY MEANT IT
