Applied math alumna Upasna Sharma, A.B. '15, is associate product manager at @Walmart Labs and co-founder of the #nonprofit Education Without Barriers. "I think being an engineer is all about being empowered to make impact happen. You have the skillset to both strategize solutions to problems, as well as execute on the changes. I'm particularly passionate about how my skills as an engineer intersect with social impact. We talk about the 1 percent in America; I grew up in India, where the wealth gap is even more staggering - the top 1 percent hold nearly half of the country's total wealth."⠀ Read more at https://buff.ly/2GDUCwg⠀ #Harvard #HarvardSEAS #HarvardAlumni #EWeek2018 #Engineers #Engineering #SocialImpact #AppliedMath #MakeanImpact @discovereorg

Did you hear the news? The @psnksuccesscenter is planning a new program called “Faculty Matters” to give students and interested individuals a chance to get to know the #PSNK faculty, learn about educational paths and ask questions! On February 19 (and right at the beginning of National #Engineering Week), join some of our engineering faculty during Common Hour to learn more about their career paths and background and learn more about the field! Can’t join us in Conference Center 051 that day? That’s ok because we’ll be live streaming the event on the campus Facebook page! 🎤 #PennState #eweek2018 #PSNKmajormatters (at Penn State New Kensington)

Today is Introduce a Girl to #Engineering Day! Great to visit @amundsen_hs alongside @jamesdysonfoundation to check out their @Dyson Lab and educational program preparing girls for #STEM careers—everyone was so engaged in building things. We're proud to announce the expansion of the Engineering Futures program through 10 new partnerships between @chipubschools and local engineering companies. STEM is the universal language necessary to succeed in the 21st century. #GirlDay2018 #EWeek2018 📸: Brooke Collins http://ift.tt/2EL6P1M

For #Eweek2018, meet Daniel Jimenez, Resident Engineer in District 3. When he was younger, Daniel helped his father with construction work and caught the engineering bug early on. He says that improving people's lives through the infrastructure he helps design is the best part of his job. Daniel also used his professional experience as part of a delegation to help people in hurricane-ravaged Puerto Rico with the monumental rebuilding they face. http://ift.tt/2CALYMN http://ift.tt/2HzXnA1
