How Two Doctors Are Hacking the Transplant System
What if there were a better way to get life-saving organs to people who need them?
Nagendran says the Ex-Vivo Organ Support System (EVOSS) has the potential to improve both the quantity and quality of donor lungs in Canada. The two-day transplant window eases the time constraints surgeons typically face. Lungs that have been damaged because the donor was ill or injured can be repaired: sick lungs can get antibiotics, and blood clots can be removed with clot-busting medication. The EVOSS also displays data like blood pressure, oxygen level, and elasticity, proving to doctors that the lungs are working well.

So, I haven't really been open about sharing my works with anyone other than the five people I talk to everyday, but my bestie encouraged me to write out stuff here. So here I am... Hello Tumblr, ladies, gentleman, and everything in between, my name is evoss-birdi (you can call me evoss, birdi, or EB, I don't really care) and I'm an aspiring author and quite an addicted writer.
I work on my own original works and one off stories that I may or may not finish, and just tend to write to get thoughts off my chest (so expect to find anything ranging from a small page of scenery I had in my mind, to literal word splatter about nothing at all :D )
Anyways, I don't know how things work on here, at all, and wouldn't mind if people helped me along my first few works until I get the hang of being on here.
Thanks for coming across this awkward text and reading it all the way through. Can't wait to start ;-;...

Gatchalian lauds NCIP compliance with EVOSS law
#PHnews: Gatchalian lauds NCIP compliance with EVOSS law
MANILA – After two years since the Energy Virtual One-Stop Shop (EVOSS) was signed into law, Senator Win Gatchalian lauded the move of the National Commission on Indigenous Peoples (NCIP) to comply with the provisions of the law in pursuing energy development projects.
By virtue of a Commission en banc resolution, the NCIP has finally approved and will adopt an EVOSS-compliant time frame for Certificate of Non-Overlap (CNO) and Certification Precondition (CP).
Actions on applications with the NCIP shall be released within 10 calendar days in the case of a CNO and 105 calendar days for the Free and Prior Informed Consent (FPIC) for the issuance of a CP.
A CNO is issued if the land involved in an energy project does not overlap an ancestral domain (AD) while CP is issued when the land involved is within AD and the concerned Indigenous Cultural Communities.
The EVOSS law, which establishes an online process of completing requirements of energy-related projects, ensures that the permitting processes for power generation, transmission and distribution in the country will remain unimpeded and will eliminate red tape while the country remains in quarantine.
“The approval process of energy projects in areas affected by IP issues usually takes years. But with their compliance with the streamlining processes of power generation, transmission and distribution projects mandated by EVOSS, investors can now be assured of a specific timeframe within which applications will be acted upon without compromising the rights of the IPs,” Gatchalian said in a news release on Sunday.
He said EVOSS law will help a lot to have continuous process of the energy-related permits “because all these can be done via online particularly now that we have pandemic.”
All government offices, including government-owned and controlled corporations, involved in the processing of necessary permits are likewise required to follow a strict time frame and failure of an agency to act within the prescribed period will result in the automatic approval of an application while potential administrative sanctions may be imposed against inefficient public officers to penalize the delay. Edmonton tech company wins NASA iTech competition – Edmonton
Tevosol Transplant Technologies, an Edmonton tech company, picked up a big win Tuesday in the NASA iTech competition held in Tampa, Florida. Dr. Jayan Nagendran only had three minutes to present the Ex-Vivo Organ Support System — or EVOSS — a device developed to improve organ transplantation and possibly, one day, to place astronauts in […]

New Chapter
Well, after almost three years as our bass player, Sean has unfortunately parted ways with Evoss. We’ve had some amazing gigs together but as he’s the only one of us that doesn’t live in Liverpool he can no longer commit the time needed to be an active member. It’s such a shame as the five of us get on so well, but we all respect his decision, and I wish him well in whatever he chooses to do next. He remains a great friend!
This feels like a new chapter for us and our search to replace him has been going on behind the scenes. We’ve had a few auditions but we wanted to find someone that we were sure will fit in to everything we’re doing in this band. We found him sooner than I thought we would. Andy Crawford joined us last week and we’re already well underway practicing for our first gig as soon as I get back from my two week holiday in Australia, a place I’ve wanted to visit for a long, long time.
In the mean time, the others will be very busy doing a lot of behind the scenes stuff. Our new EP featuring four tracks off our first album is all mixed, mastered and ready to go, compete with amazing new artwork and will be officially released on the 1st April. Our brand new website is currently being developed and will be ready to go live very soon. Plus, as we have a LOT of footage from the live shows we’ve played so far, I’ll be making a live music video for one of the other EP tracks in the next few months.
We’ll continue our promotion push for the band from all aspects of social media. Already, our Hourglass music video is doing very well, with over 700 views so far. So thank you to everyone who took the time to give it a watch.
On a completely separate note, Rob and I have spent the last year or so slowly making our very own short film. A thriller (hopefully) about the nature of human greed. It’s been a long process on and off as the band takes up a lot of our spare time, however, it’s very close to being finished, with just some small tweaks on the score to finalise, so lookout for it on my Facebook page very soon.

Solon to DOE: Act on all pending solar project applications
#PHnews: Solon to DOE: Act on all pending solar project applications
MANILA – Senator Win Gatchalian has called on the Department of Energy (DOE) to immediately act on all pending solar project applications, noting that a mechanism is in place that streamlines the permitting process for both foreign and domestic investors.
In a statement Saturday, Gatchalian took note of reports about the mounting solar project applications that will yield capacity installations of more than 13,217 megawatts.
The influx of solar project applications is in line with the government’s planned rollout of the Renewable Portfolio Standards (RPS) policy next year.
RPS mandates electricity suppliers to source a portion of their energy supply from eligible renewable energy (RE) resources to contribute to the growth of the RE industry in the country.
“A law is already in place ensuring that there won’t be any delay in the permitting process of energy projects. This is aimed at eliminating red tape and enticing more investments in the energy sector,” Gatchalian said.
“Naisabatas na ito noon pang nakaraang taon, bago pa man magka-pandemya. At ngayon na may kinakaharap tayong krisis, mas lalong napapanahon at makabuluhan ang batas na ito,” the senator added. (It was passed into law last year before the pandemic. Now that we face a crisis, the law is more timely and significant.)
The Senate Energy Committee Chairman was referring to the Energy Virtual One-Stop Shop (EVOSS) Act, enacted last year which provides an online process of completing requirements of energy-related projects such as documentary requirements and online payment of charges and fees. It is under the control and supervision of the DOE.
Gatchalian pointed out that in the long run, EVOSS could bring down electricity costs.
He said if investors see an improved permitting process, they would be encouraged to apply for new power projects which could stimulate competition in the energy generation industry.
“The law didn’t prescribe that we have to set up the system or the software to implement the EVOSS law. The law can be implemented as a stand-alone. If agencies, including the local government units (LGUs), have started streamlining the permit processing for energy projects in compliance with the EVOSS laws, a number of applications would have been dispensed with by now,” Gatchalian said.
The DOE said application processes at the Renewable Energy Management Bureau and the Electric Power Industry Management Bureau can now be done online via the EVOSS platform. Permits were already issued through the said platform.
EVOSS covers applications for a new generation, transmission, and distribution projects throughout the country, including the permits and certificates of energy projects issued by concerned national government offices, agencies, local government units, and government-owned and controlled corporations, among many others.
