Chile used Texas Utah Miami and Broward County Florida to funnel drugs to Judges and city workers to sell to low income areas to get them locked up. Broward County is a mob county. Run by extremist tried to killed to kill me and also aided my landlord to evict me illegally. Destroying evidence, and deleting my database. They did in fact destroyed it. 40 Million Americans Could Be Evicted During Health Crisis

CNBC Report Calls Potential Eviction Crisis “Unprecedented”
With the moratorium expiring last Friday for all eviction proceedings for federally backed mortgages as well as tenants who obtain government assisted housing, the statistics being reported by the Urban Institute state that almost 30% of the country was under that provision and keeping people in their homes who would otherwise be evicted.
With 25 million Americans getting their unemployment checks for $600 weekly stopped by July 31, this could spell some very bad news for the U.S. economy as most of the statewide eviction moratoriums are starting to wind down.
Eviction proceedings have commenced in more than 30 states, with Illinois and Hawaii ending this week, followed by Nevada and New York in August.
It’s like nothing we’ve ever seen.

Pollock was also quoted that back in 2016 there were 2.3 million evictions, and that we could match that number in August alone with this crisis.

HOUSING AND FOOD APOCALYPSE AROUND THE CORNER
Man has two basic needs. Shelter and food. Without, survival can be difficult.
Coronavorus has exposed society to worse shelter and food problems than existed before. An apocalypse is in the making.
In June, 30,000 Americans could not make rent. A federal eviction program exists which has protected many in recent months. However, it ends July 25.
Most are already 3 months behind in rent payments. B the end of July, it will be 4. How will the landlord be paid? Another $1,200 check won’t make things better, assuming another $1,200 check is even forthcoming.
Expect therefore a huge wave of evictions, homelessness, and hunger.
The eviction/homeless numbers are staggering. Experts project 15 percent over 2 months resulting in 17 million new persons on the streets.
Food banks have been doing the job so far. They will be overloaded. Some will go hungry.
The result will be more demonstrations. Actually, riots. Civil disorder as we have not known in recent times. People cannot be denied the basics for survival.
Bubonic plague can be the next pandemic.
This has not been an easy year thus far. First, coronavirus. Recently in Florida, 8 cases of dengue fever. The Fall is coming. Flu season will return .
The bubonic plague is the black death of the Middle Ages. Rarely occurs in modern times.
It occurred recently in Mongolia near the Russian border. Two cases initially. Bad at a time when there should be none.
The cases confirmed. Two brothers. The plague caused by eating marmot meat.
Marmot meat is the “native cuisine” of Mongolia. The relatively small animal is skinned and cleansed. Hot coals are sewed into the stomach of the animal. The marmot is left to cook.
Mongolia now has 146 confirmed cases of bubonic plague. Five hundred four second contact individuals.
The Mongolian government did not screw around. As is evident, they are already into tracing.
WHO is concerned. They have people on the ground in Mongolia.
A noteworthy observation. The Mongolians are paying attention. They are getting on top of the problem immediately. They are not dilly-dallying as the U.S. has with coronavirus.
The Alps are magnificent. Beautiful. Awesome.
I have had the opportunity to visit various parts several times. Snow and ice on the tops of the mountains even in the summer.
I recall a July when when I was staying in a chalet half way up Mont Blanc. Somewhere around the Italian/French border. It was hot.
Woke one morning to find snow everywhere. No green grass left to be seen. Strange as it was, it had snowed overnight. Locals told me not uncommon in the summer. By 11 in the morning, the snow had melted.
The white snow of the Alps is now pink in many places. Described as salmon tinted. Watermelon colored. A bad sign for the Earth’s climate.
The pink is caused by “snow algae.” The algae caused by warmer than normal weather. The effect on the glacier ice and snow is that both melt faster. Resulting in flooding below.
Coronavirus has a serious hold on the U.S. for 2 reasons. A President who has failed to lead by example and who has failed to accept coronavirus as a danger. Another is most people refuse to follow the simple rules required to bring the virus under control. Like mask wearing, social distancing, and washing hands. They also want to party when such is not recommended.
Key West is no different than most other parts of the country. Key West did well initially. Now it has succumbed to the desires of the business community to reopen.
Local coronavirus numbers have steadily been rising since June 1 when Key West and Monroe County reopened. They will increase further as a result of the July 4 weekend past.
Local leaders banned the Fourth fireworks. A wise move. They also have prohibited persons from buying alcohol inside bars where social distancing is being enforced and then taking the drinks outside to a crowded sidewalk to drink where there is no social distancing.
The beaches were closed also.
That’s it.
I would have closed the restaurants and bars. Even though the 6 foot rule in bars and 50 percent rule in restaurants was being enforced.
Tourist came to Key West for the Fourth. They partied.
My friends who were out reported 75 percent of those on Duval were without masks. Mostly tourists. Most young people.
The Town should have been shut down for the weekend. We do not need strangers bringing disease to Duval Sreet.
I was also told the boat business was good. Visitors filled the boats the whole weekend.
Most tourists are coming from Miami-Dade and Broward Counties. They are the 2 highest numbered counties in the whole U.S. for coronavirus.
Miami-Dade closed down. Broward on the way to doing it.
No problem. U.S. 1 to Key West is open.
Monroe County made it easy. Took down the road block June 1. Succumbed to the pressure of local businessmen to reopen.
What will 2 weekends from now hold? An increase in coronavirus cases in Key West. Without question. The town may have to be closed down again and properly so.
Lets put this in perspective. The Key West hospital has only 10 ICU beds. Four already occupied. The rest of Monroe County 8. Where will our sick go? Out of town to be hospitalized and perhaps die.
Many believe we are experiencing the “second wave” of the virus. They’re wrong. Even Dr. Fauci says we have not finished the first yet. He claims the U.S. continues to be “knee deep” yet in the “first wave.”
The U.S. is presently just short of 3 million coronavirus cases.
The numbers keep rising dramatically. Coronavirus is like a meteor. It moves rapidly.
Last thursday represented the highest daily number of new cases in the U.S. Fifty five thousand plus. Up from the previous day’s 52 thousand plus.
On today’s date in 1896, May Johnson caught a chicken and prepared it for dinner: Lena and I “caught a chicken, Lena pulled, I picked, we cooked dinner.”
Reminded me of my youth. Like 4-5 years old. Chickens were bought in “chicken stores.” Not like today in super markets. In fact, no supper markets back then in the late 1930’s and early 1940’s. Big grocery stores at the most.
The chicken stores sold only chickens. The store a room filled with open cases of live chickens. The customer selected the chicken desired. A worker took it behind the counter. Killed and plucked the chicken. Plucking removing the feathers.
We were poor. Could not afford to buy a chicken.
No one who could pay wanted the feet. Bones with little meat and a lot of skin. The stores kept them for those who might have a need. For free. We had a need.
I used to go with my grandmother. The store always had a bag of legs waiting for her. She got enough for the whole family.
The legs were boiled. Made for excellent chicken soup. The bones and skin tasted good and provided the protein portion of a meal.
I do not know what happens to the chicken bones these days. Never have seen in a super market. Someone has to be eating them.

Florida governor to allow gyms and beaches to reopen in Palm Beach County on Monday
Florida Allowing Gyms, Beaches To Reopen in Palm Beach
Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis expanded the first phase of reopening businesses, allowing gyms to reopen throughout most of Florida beginning on Monday.
In South Florida, gyms will be allowed to open in Palm Beach County as well as in the Florida Keys, but will not be allowed to reopen in Miami-Dade and Broward counties.
Restaurants, which already began to reopen outside of Miami-Dade and Broward, will all be able to operate at 50 percent capacity beginning on Monday.
Beaches will also reopen in Palm Beach County on Monday, according to the Palm Beach Post. The Palm Beach County Commission voted on Friday to reopen the beaches.
DeSantis’ executive order allows for restaurants, retail, museums and gyms to operate at up to 50 percent capacity, excluding employees, with a minimum of six feet between parties. Bars must remain closed. Outdoor seating is encouraged.
Gyms will also be required to abide by social distancing and cleaning protocols. Throughout the state, professional sports will be able to operate.
On Thursday, DeSantis announced that Miami-Dade and Broward counties can begin to reopen businesses on Monday, May 18. Palm Beach County entered phase one of reopening this past Monday.
Miami-Dade will now allow limited openings of restaurants, warehouses, manufacturing, office buildings and a specific list of businesses, Gimenez said. Spas, bars, gyms, beaches, movie theaters, schools, tattoo shops and other businesses will not be allowed to reopen.
Broward County Mayor Dale Holness said that homeowners and condo associations will be able to open their gyms “in a limited way” on Monday, but commercial gyms will remain closed.
Within Miami-Dade, some cities such as Miami Beach and Miami are working together on a coordinated reopening that would begin on Wednesday, and delaying the opening of restaurants to May 27.
DeSantis also extended the freeze on residential evictions and foreclosures until June 2. Though the order does not provide financial relief to renters and homeowners, it prevents them from being evicted or foreclosed until next month.

EVICTIONS DURING THE CORONAVIRUS PANDEMIC
As a result of the economic slowdown that has occurred during the coronavirus pandemic, governments at several levels have extended extra legal protections to tenants of Florida properties. The federal government imposed a 120 day suspension of evictions on properties financed by government-backed loans in the CARES Act. Florida has enacted a 45 day suspension of evictions. Finally, many counties and cities have enacted laws that affect evictions in important ways.
I. CARES Act:
On March 27,2020, Congress passed the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic and Security (the CARES Act). The CARES Act contains specific provisions that affect rental properties that receive housing grants and that receive federal assistance and that are financed by loans guaranteed by the federal government. This includes HUD, VA, USDA, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac loans.
A Landlord covered under the CARES ACT may not issue a Notice to Vacate nor file any eviction during the 120-day period beginning on March 27,2020. After the 120 day period ends, the Landlord may give the tenant a 30 Day Notice to Vacate, if otherwise authorized by the circumstances. The upshot of these rules is that Landlords may not institute eviction proceedings in court until late August against any tenant in a property to which the CARES act applies.
Note that the CARES Act does not affect a Landlord’s ability to proceed with any eviction action that began prior to March 27th (however, Florida courts have suspended the issuance of Writs of Possesion – see below)
The CARES Act does not abolish a Tenant’s obligation to pay rent, but suspends it for 120 days. After the suspension period ends, the Tenant will be liable to pay the Landlord all rent owed under the lease. Landlord may not charge the tenant late fees or penalties due to the tenant’s non-payment during the 120 suspension period.
II. Recent Florida Laws:
On April 2, 2020, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis issued an Executive Order that suspended “any statute providing for an eviction cause of action under Florida law solely as it relates to non-payment of rent by residential tenants … “ for 45 days from the date of the order.
The Florida Supreme Court indefinitely suspended the issuance of Writs of Possession in its April 6, 2020 Emergency Administrative Order.
III. Orders Issued by South Florida Cities and Counties:
Chief Judge of the Miami Dade Judicial Circuit Bertila Soto issued an Administrative Order that suspends all procedural deadlines from March 13, 2020 through June 1, 2020; and provides that deadlines that fall between March 13, 2020 and June 1, 2020 shall be extended by 80 days. The Miami-Dade Police Department has indefinitely suspended all eviction actions and water shut-offs.
Broward and Palm Beach County Police Departments have suspended serving writs of possession in eviction cases.

“A landlord waiving rent and not getting anything in return is just not a reality:” experts sound off on pandemic’s effect on South Florida’s retail market

Pebb Enterprises, like many commercial landlords in South Florida, is working with tenants to offer rent deferments or discounts, as retailers and small businesses struggle to pay this month’s bills.
Pebb, a Boca Raton-based commercial real estate firm, is still making its mortgage payments in April, said Chris Stewart, Pebb’s senior vice president of leasing. At the same time, the company is hearing from “a significant number of tenants” and trying to keep an open dialogue between them, he said.
“We are granting deferments, looking at each tenant and property individually,” Stewart said. “We just want to make sure they understand the situation we’re going through.” The company is sending tenants links to loan and grant programs available under the $2 trillion stimulus package that was signed into law by President Trump last week.
Locally and across the country, retail stores, restaurants and bars are attempting to negotiate their rent for this month and in May. Besides Pebb, landlords like Tricera Capital and Avra Jain are talking to their tenants to work out deals.
Jain, speaking during a Bisnow webinar on Thursday, said she’s in the process of negotiating deals with tenants, ranging from deferment or forbearance to partial payment of rent.
“If the lenders are giving us relief, we want to pass it along to our tenants,” Jain said, later adding that, “in April, we’re going to do everything we can to make our lender obligations.”
Claudio Mekler, CEO of Miami Manager, a Sunrise-based company that owns five shopping centers in the tri-county region, told The Real Deal that his firm is analyzing his tenants’ finances to figure out individual solutions. Mekler said they are “letting us scrutinize their business model in order to negotiate to mitigate the impact of the coronavirus crisis.”
Tenants include Starbucks, Dollar Tree, CVS Pharmacy, Dick’s Sporting Goods and Subway. Miami Manager invests in value-add mid-size shopping centers using private equity from investors in Latin America.
“We have already spoken with many of the tenants and, in some cases, we decided that they do have the financial backing to pay full rent in April. In other instances, we have worked out agreements that benefit the tenant, my investors and our lenders,” Mekler said. “For example, for a tenant who had paid us six months of rent in advance, we have reduced his April rent by 50 percent.”
Mekler is also asking one lender to release a reserve that’s typically used to pay broker commissions and tenant improvement concessions, and instead use it to cover rent that will not be paid by tenants.
Commercial brokers Tony Arellano and Devlin Marinoff of Dwntwn Realty Advisors emphasized that property owners are beholden to their lenders in many cases. Those with commercial mortgage backed securities (CMBS) loans, don’t have that flexibility.
“If tenants think they’re just not going to pay rent, it’s mechanically not possible.… A landlord waiving rent and not getting anything in return is just not a reality,” Arellano said.
They anticipate that many landlords will urge their tenants to apply for loan and grant programs to pay their rent while their businesses are closed or limited, as is the case for restaurants and bars, which can only operate for take-out and delivery.
“If a mortgage said you cannot give concessions to your tenant, you have to go back to your banker,” Arellano added.
Marinoff said that the effect on property values won’t be known until the pandemic is over and businesses have started to recover. “When the smoke clears, there will be plenty of opportunity. We won’t know until it’s over,” he added.

Some major tenants, like the Cheesecake Factory, have said they would not be able to pay April rent.
And some landlords, like Taubman Centers, owner of The Gardens Mall in Palm Beach Gardens and Dolphin Mall in Sweetwater, are requiring payment from their tenants.
Scott Sherman of Tricera Capital said during the Bisnow panel that he’s offering his tenants rent deferral in April to give them “breathing room.” Tricera will add that month to the end of their lease term. “Without our tenants, we have dark buildings,” he said.
Tenants first need to look at their leases and insurance policies to see if they have a legal basis for rent abatement, said attorney Jason Kellogg of Levine Kellogg Lehman Schneider + Grossman.
He pointed to one legal argument made in Louisiana, where a lawyer argued that the presence of Covid-19 in a retail establishment could count as physical damage.
Kellogg and others expect that the pandemic will change how leases and insurance policies are written, similar to what happened with the Zika outbreak in 2015 and the SARS outbreak in the early 2000s.
“This is going to be a complete game changer. Everyone is going to start putting viruses, pandemics, epidemics [in contracts]. Any leases I write or edit are going to include this because no one is going to forget this,” he said.
Attorney Josh Migdal, co-founder and partner at Mark Migdal & Hayden, is hearing from both landlords and tenants.
“The tenants are contacting us to find out whether or not they have any legal recourse or basis to absolve them from having to make payment. The landlords are calling us to find out whether or not the tenants have any basis,” he said. “They’re also asking us to look at their loan documents to see what they can do related to making payments to their lender. This is a cascade of litigation or liquidity issues.”
A number of landlords will be forced to sue to evict tenants. In some cases, Midgal said, they’ll use litigation to bring their tenants to the table to work things out. In others, the pandemic will weed out tenants that were already struggling.
“The reality is tenants don’t want to go out of business and not have space, and landlords don’t want to have vacant space,” he said. “No one wants to go to a shopping center that is empty.”
Landlords may require or ask their tenants to sign a covenant that the money they receive will be used for rent, said attorney Steve Silverman, a shareholder at Kluger, Kaplan, Silverman, Katzen and Levine.
Tenants typically have grace periods between seven and 14 days to make their rent payments, he said.
“You don’t want landlords exercising their eviction options. You want to avoid the cost of that litigation,” Silverman said. “Hopefully a lot of these issues will be worked out. I anticipate that many, many of them won’t be.”

Some businesses have already decided they won’t re-open. Cracker Barrel said last week that it won’t save its Punch Bowl Social chain, according to news reports. The concept has a location in Wynwood that had just opened.
A majority of Wynwood’s 400 businesses are locally owned. The neighborhood was ground zero for the Zika outbreak a few years ago.
“We were literally shut down for the better part of two months,” said Albert Garcia, chair of the Wynwood Business Improvement District. “We know from past experience that there are going to be businesses that may not survive.”

Daniel Odess, president of insurance firm GlobalPro, said that his company was able to recover losses for commercial property owners, including restaurants and hotels, due to the Zika outbreak. Odess said the chemicals used to combat the infected mosquitoes had corrosive properties, which caused physical damage.
He said coronavirus could cause physical damage because it sits on surfaces for extended periods of time. He compared it to the soot left from a fire. “That is covered by insurance.”
In Wynwood, Garcia said the BID is sending out daily emails to its members, sharing information on what government-ordered closures and programs are available to businesses and employees impacted by the pandemic.
Carlos Saez, COO and co-owner of Native Management, the property management arm of Native Realty in Fort Lauderdale, which manages 10 properties in Broward County, agreed that most tenants want their rent abated. He’s sending them a PDF prepared by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce that outlines who is eligible for the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act, how much money they’re eligible for, when a loan can be forgiven, and more.
“Every landlord, property manager and building owner is trembling right now. Usually the landlords and building owners are small business owners themselves,” Saez said. “This is all still a very new and fluid situation.”

Survivors Complain Funeral Home Company Took Money
For decades, Louis and Phyllis Schneider took care of each other.
“He was wonderful. He was terrific," Phyllis recalled of her husband of 70 years. “We had a wonderful marriage.”
When Louis died in September, the Schneider family thought services and burial were taken care of too – after all, they had spent $34,000 that they say was supposed to go into a trust to pay for both of their services and burials.
After Louis was buried, Phyllis said, “I really felt at ease, at peace. I thought my husband was going to be in peace. And two days later, the you-know-what hit the fan.”
That’s when the Star of David cemetery informed the family that a $6,500 check from Riverside Florida Funeral Homes LLC had bounced. Account closed, the bank had informed the cemetery.
Phyllis has not been at peace since.
“Oh my God, they turned my life upside down. I haven’t had a peaceful night since this occurred,” she told the NBC 6 Investigators. “It’s been a horror.”
Same for Jahoska Rodriguez, whose husband of 15 years, Jose, died suddenly in January.
A couple weeks after burial at Forest Lawn, she got a call from the cemetery.
“They told me that the payment hasn’t been done for the gravesite of my husband and how was I going to pay for it. And I told them I already paid Shawn for it,” she said.
She says Shawn did not give her his last name when he took $4,700 in cash from her and signed a receipt on behalf of Riverside Florida Funeral Homes.
The NBC 6 Investigators showed her an array of mugshots belonging to convicted felon, Raymond Shawn Mackey, 40.
She says she instantly recognized him as the man who took her cash.
“That’s him,” she said, pointing to the photos that included one from his 2004 conviction for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
“He was very nice, he was very helpful,” she recalled, though, she said she’s come to realize, “he was scamming me.”
The NBC 6 Investigators tried to question Mackey at the funeral home’s listed address in Oakland Park, but by October, the office was vacant. The company’s landlord sought its eviction, claiming it stopped paying rent in August.
(Riverside Florida Funeral Homes LLC is not associated with Riverside Gordon Memorial Chapels, which has an excellent reputation in South Florida.)
But we did find Mackey at the office address of another funeral home company, created by some of the same people associated with Riverside Florida.
We tried to ask what he thought of the allegations Schneider and Rodriguez are making against him, but he closed the door on us.
Then he re-emerged long enough for NBC 6 Investigator Tony Pipitone to ask, “Mr. Mackey, what is going on here? What about all that money you took from those people? They have to pay twice to have their loved ones buried? Tell us why that is.”
He said he would only speak off camera, before shutting the door again.
Off camera, he denied soliciting, handling or receiving any money on behalf of the funeral business.
Soon after, he drove off in a black minivan with a placard on the dash that read “Funeral Director on Official Business.”
The Schneiders have filed a complaint with the state agency that oversees funeral services. Mackey has not been charged with any crimes related to the funeral business.
Mackey is not a licensed funeral director. Had he applied to become one, his felony conviction could have been used to deny him licensure by the state board that oversees the industry. It says it has no record he ever applied.
The funeral director that Riverside Florida claimed was in charge at the business told the state in February he was unaware they were using his license and complained the company was “forging my signature without my knowledge.” The state took no action against Riverside Florida’s license.
None of that is comforting to Rodriguez, who in June obtained a $4,200 judgment against Riverside Florida Funeral Home LLC from small claims court in Broward County.
Without that money – and the headstone it would allow her to place on the now-unmarked grave, she says she’s can’t bring herself to bring her two children to their father’s gravesite.
“There’s no way we could bring flowers to him, there’s no headstone,” she said.
Asked what she thinks of someone who could take money from a grieving widow without providing all the services promised, she replied, “That’s really mean of him taking my money knowing what I’m going through.”
Phyllis Schneider, whose family has complained to the state, claiming it was taken for $28,000, is a bit more blunt in her assessment of those involved.
“Low life,” she said. “Real low life.”

The Wikipedia article of the day for August 3, 2017 is William Cooley. William Cooley (1783–1863) was one of the first American settlers in what is now Broward County, in the US state of Florida. Born in Maryland, he arrived in East Florida as part of a military expedition. He was a farmer in the northern part of the territory before moving south, where he traded with local Indians and continued to farm. He sided with natives in a land dispute against a merchant who had received a large grant from the King of Spain and was evicting them from their lands. Unhappy with the actions of the Spanish, he moved to the New River in 1826, an area removed from their influence. He was a salvager and farmer, cultivating and milling arrowroot. His fortune and influence grew, and he became the first judge in the settlement. His decision in a case involving the murder of a local chief antagonized the natives, who attacked the settlement in revenge in January 1836 during the Second Seminole War, killing his family. Cooley was one of the first city councilors of Tampa, serving three terms.
