He could tell by the look on her face. This was a challenge in itself, taking her into the water like this. Granted, they were as deep as he wanted them to be, the water just up to their chests, or rather, more so hers than his, considering how taller he is, but it was perfect.

Of course he wasn’t going to let her drown. He just wanted to experience the water with her, in a safe way anyway. He was not keen on going any deeper, then it wouldn’t be as fun. This wasn’t to be a swimming exercise, for one thing. But now that they were at the perfect spot. This was where he wanted them to be.

“Hey, it’s okay, we ain’t going any further.” He answered, gently, as he moved to hold her properly. “I just wanted to go this far, so we can enjoy this together. I got you, alright?”

A pause, a thought coming to him. “Hey, I got an idea…”

“Yeah... maybe you enjoy it. I’m just thinking a big wave is gonna crash into us.”

She didn’t mean to sound like such a downer, but she had a habit of speaking her mind, more so around people she’s comfortable with, & that was all she could really think about. Always just imagining different ways she could pulled into drowning, despite the height of the water not even going past her bosom completely.

It was... embarrassing, not knowing how to swim, & being spooked enough by it to think of all these different ways that water could get her killed. Of all the things to be embarrassed by, it was her own lacking ability to swim....

And when Bowen said he had an idea, only one thing came to her mind, given the situation.

“... Please don’t tell me you want to give me a impromptu swimming lesson.”
