beatles harmonies that cured my depression.
It is important that i discuss this. Well, not really important I just really wanted to share. This is in no particular order either it's just the ones that come to the top of my head lol. Feel free to reblog and share your own 😎
1. The "Woahoooah AHHHHH" from When I Get Home.
Not even words can describe the battery power that starts coursing through my veins when I hear this harmony. I cant even,....LIKE HELLO??? i have never heard such a blessing... Such a well-fitting triplet of voices singing a vowel thats made me feel like i can run 10 miles straight. They aren't real. The Beatles, of course. To this day I don't understand how this harmony exists in this universe. My ears melt everytime. One of my favorites, in case you couldn't tell.
2. The obvious.. "yeah yeah yeah YEAHH" from She Loves You :)
LET ME TELL YOU. oh my god let me tell yo u .. Way back when, when I was a new fan... Good lord. I was literally ascending. ASCENDING. i felt every inch of my body start to lift off the ground. Im sure im not the only one who's experienced this. I remember thinking 'how the wiggle wubble do 3 men sound so GOOD TOGETHER' IT DOES NOT ADD UP PEOPLE THE BEATLES HAVE TO BE SOME SORT OF ROBOTIC BOY BAND GROWN IN A LAB THIS ISNT POSSIBLE how do we live on the same dimensional plane that this harmony lives on..
3. "The magical mystery tour, is coming to take you away, Coming to take you away!" from Magical Mystery Tour.
...
guys. Guys you dont understand. This one line, adds, YEARS. LITERAL YEARS TO MY LIFE SPAN. At this point I am fully immortal. The "coming to take you awayyy" makes my heart POUND. i love this song so much... And this line especially... It makes me go insane. Basically the beatles are manic melody genuises that have successfully spread one of the biggest diseases in musical history. Personally, I think this line was a clear example of why.
4. "Last night I said these words to my girl", "Please pleaase me, oh yeah, like i please you...", "...With you! Oh yeah, why do you make me blue" from Please Please Me.
do i even have to say anything. Well, i dont but i will for the sake of the post. There is so much. So much. About this song that I. I cant even,,. I would choose this song over SO MANY BEATLES SONGS DUDE. not that its cause i think its better than all the others but it just holds such a special place in my heart. Its the only song thats Ever made me feel some intense wave of nostalgia for a decade i wasnt even born in. Its one of the songs that continue to make me question the beatles existance. How could something like this ever come to reality. My brain has never been so pleased in its life.
5. "Carve your number on my wall and maybe you will get a call from me" from If I Needed Someone.
The way that this song was added into my Liked playlist SO QUICKLY...... God. I love george. Hes my favorite after all. Rubber Soul as a whole makes me feel warm inside but this song and this one line just hits so much more intensely for some reason... Their voices just flow insanely well and I just DONT UNDERSTAND HOW. its like an angel choir making its way through the clouds as you see the gate to heaven start to appear. Wonderful song and mind-blowing harmony... The beat is so good too and i just explode.
6. The "ahhhhh Ahhhhh AHhhhh *inhale* AHHHhhhh AHHHHH *inhale* AHHHHHH" from Day Tripper.
HOLY JESUS CHIRST THIS SONG HAS SO MUCH TO UNPACK... There are undeniably A BUNCH of other flawless harmonies in this song but my god the beatles knew what they were doing. Thats all I'm going to say really.... But once again. Power. In my veins. A few listens to this song and you'll find yourself having the strength of 1,000 men.
7. "Oh, now", "All I want is you" from Dig a Pony.
FIRST LYRIC... ITS LITERALLY 2 WORDS AND YET IT CONTINUES TO BLOW MY MIND. Something about the "Oh" ...... Its like an arrow passing through my heart I dont even know guys. Im not lying when I say it makes me feel like im floating. It makes me feel like i can quite literally grow wings and fling myself towards the sun. Dont even get me started on "All I want is you".......it literally triples the effect. It makes me go ballistic. The song is just mindless lyrics but the harmonieeesss.....
8. "Ah girlll.... *inhaeahelrlsseeesh* Girrll...." from Girl.
no words. Like. No words. I cant even. I seriously dont need to explain this one. Im just going to drop the isolated vocals version because if you havent listened to it you are MISSING OUT... you thought the originally recorded song was the greatest cause of your heart palpitations? Well you thought WRONG.
THIS IS.
youtube
9. "I love youwoowooowoowoooo...", "ask me WHYY..", "I can't believe.. Its happened to MEeee", "i cant concieve *doo doo doo do doo* of anymore *dun dun dun* MISERY" from Ask Me Why.
GOD OK LISTEN im just gonna say this now i absolutely adore and favor the please please me album so much i dont care what anyone says ok im such a sucker for their early sappy love songs ITS SO MANY GOOD HARMONIES ESPECIALLY FROM THIS ONE. MY GOD i listen to this and i feel like im with a lover late at night and we're like at one or the others house keeping each other warm and being all romantic and happy. Specifically the part that goes "ask me whyy I say i love you.. (OOOOHHHOOOO) and im always thinking of youuhoohohoo..." LIKE COME ON PLEAEE IT MAKES ME FEEL SO WARM INSIDE AND I SMILE IN AN INSTANT GOD I LOVE THIS SONG SO MUCH. Whenever i think im sad i go "no im not because Please Please Me." And its like all the sudden everything im sad about just poof disappears!
10. "If theres anything that you want.. IF THERES ANYTHING I CAN DOOOO" from From Me To You.
I am so in love with this song you guys i have no idea I LOVE IT SO MUCH. IT HAS THIS LITTLE SWING TO IT SPECIFICALLY BETWEEN THESE 2 LINES THAT MY BRAIN SEEKS FOR NEARLY EVERY DAY. the amount of blessing i get from this song is more than i can comprehend its literally insane i cant even. How does someone do this how did the beatles make music guys I am seriously so dumbfounded like they just sat there and wrote banger after banger like WHAT. this song makes me believe that life isnt as horrible as it seems and if im lucky enough i can just sing and dance to this song for all of eternity. There are also so many other good harmonies in this one as well...
---
In conclusion the beatles have had a chokehold on me for 3 years but I mean their stupid groundbreaking songs keep drawing me back in so.... This has also made me come to the conclusion that the Beatles simply arent real because I still dont believe a band can not only write consistent hits, but also harmonize in a way that causes me to spin around while doing backflips.
Thank you for your time.
#these arent even all the songs..#i just didnt want this post to get too long 😭#perhaps in the future i'll reblog this one and continue with my list#if you read this whole thing#well#congrats!#and thank you!#i know im not the only one who feels this way though#theres absolutely no way#hello bee-ahtle community#beatles#the beatles#beatles songs

Days Apart - A Llewerius “Playlist”
I’m posting this late af because I’m a bastard.
So like, there are a few songs I like to listen to while drawing these two. Because these songs make me think of them. It’s nowhere near a proper playlist’s worth, but I thought I may as well share them with you for people who were looking for more Llewerius content before me and Lolly are ready to unveil what we’re working on. I’ll even give little explanations as to why they’re up here.
Elaborate Lives & Elaborate Lives (Reprise) from the Aida Soundtrack - This is probably one of the most “out there” choices, which is why it’s at the top, so we can get to the real meat, next. I can’t really explain myself outside of the fact that the Aida musical soundtrack still really moves me and this song always inspires me when I’m drawing more “adversarial” couples, in this case, Louie being deadset in the idea that he doesn’t actually like Ty, Ty being deadset in the idea that he’s straight, and the both of them lamenting in repressed yearning as a result. Naturally, the nature of the reprise in particular is MUCH more serious in the context of the musical, and that’s actually why it inspired the out-of-context drawing I did based on the scenario of THE kiss.
Rezonate’s The Phoenix - Okay. So. I’mma be real with you guys. This is the song that sparked the very concept of the scenario surrounding the kiss. Y’know, THE kiss. It doesn’t actually spoil anything because there are barely any lyrics in the song, and even then, the lyrics are fairly generic. It’s mostly due to the fact that, as I listen to music, I tend to think of what I could potentially animate to it, what feelings I want to express through it, what feelings I think the song expresses to me. And as a result, a specific portion of the song (I will not say which) fine-tuned my brain into thinking “I want to see Ty and Louie in THIS situation”. It was a very rough, very vague, honestly rather strange concept. I relayed the concept to Lolly, and, good gods, she took the inch I offered and gave me a mile in return. The story she managed to concoct from such an odd idea was not only WAY more fleshed out, but also engaging and emotional. I really can’t wait for you all to finally see what she’s done, but for now, you can have the piece that allowed that first little spark of an idea.
Tatsuro Yamashita’s Ride on Time - Obligatory City Pop song because I listen to that too much. Not only is this my favorite Tatsuro Yamashita song, and thus, I must tie it to what I happen to be currently hyperfixated on, but I also really like to consider it a Llewerius song because the lyrics (as far as I can tell from the translation) are about falling in love without even realizing it, and gods does that ring true with our two little disasters here. It’s a bop, please listen.
Cascada’s A Neverending Dream - HELL YEAH BITCHES WE GOT SOME CASCADA ON THE LIST. Honestly you can just throw any Cascada song from the Everytime We Touch album on and I could probably relate it to Llewerius somehow (Except Miracle. Not That One.) But this one in particular makes me think of the Fairytale AU! It’s a good AU and I hope either me or Lolly (or both) have more time to make content for that.
Studio Killers’s Grande Finale - This is actually another song I attribute to multiple pairings, but I feel like it fits here particularly well. Louie inspires Ty to be a better person because Ty thinks so highly of Louie’s ability to use their natural advantages (traits Ty had always considered “evil) for the sake of, as Ty sees it, being a hero. On the flipside, Ty brings out the best in Louie by driving him to put more effort into what he does due to the naturally competitive nature of their relationship, as well as the fact that Ty is able to check Louie on his more... morally unsound behavior, just by having a much stronger moral compass. It just kinda works with this song. These two are the respective “ends” (life is more complicated than that) of their bad sides.
Klaus Veen’s Ordinary Days (V2) - This song is mostly here because most of the Lethal League soundtrack makes me think of Ty, and this is the piece on the soundtrack that most reminds me of Louie, so it kinda of just merges into making me think of the both of them!
HOME’s Resonance - Is it a surprise that this song is here? Maybe?? I dunno. I like this song a lot so I listen to it a lot regardless of what I’m thinking of. But it is relevant, trust me. By now you’ve probably been curious about the drawing atop this post. Well, Louie has spent a lot of nights at Ty’s house as a friend (and, well, moreso because Ty has this inexplicable ability to calm Louie down if he wakes up in the middle of the night anxious, more effectively than anyone else in his life has been able to. But he would never say that out loud. They’re friends, they’re having a sleepover, they’re capable of being normal about it, most of the time) and Ty has a little radio in his room that’s constantly playing at low volume as a “white noise maker”. This song just makes me think about that room, comfortable, nostalgic, sleepy, music coming from somewhere. IDK it works for me.
The Beatles’s You’ve Got to Hide Your Love Away - Yeah, I was raised on the Beatles and Jethro Tull, I’m not surprised this made it here. (I’m actually a little bummed I didn’t get any Jethro Tull on this list) This is my favorite (one of my favorites?) Beatles song and I can easily imagine Ty singing this idly while he’s thinking about Louie.
That’s pretty much the end of the list. I wanted to put the Moulin Rouge! version of Your Song on here, but, ehhhh. I like the scenario of Ty becoming flustered and fed up and just belting out a heartfelt serenade to Louie, but part of it just feels too weird to throw into the mix. Instead, let me leave you with this raw line from Moulin Rouge! that’s 100% relevant to these fuckers:
“The greatest thing you’ll ever learn is just to love, and be loved in return”

ik this isn't she-ra related but ur main blogs asks aren't open 😳😳 n e wey, thoughts on folklore?? i wanna hear ur favorite songs, favorite lines, any parts that gave u chills, all the good stuff
Someone asking me about Taylor Swift? Someone asking my thoughts about Taylor Swift?! Someone actually wanting to hear what I have to say about Taylor Swift? I feel like Entrapta back in season one when she was asked about her theories about Etheria and was she excited to show everyone her model.
Before I dive in, I want to apologize that it took me so long to get this to ask. I’ve been swamped trying to keep up with summer classes and I wrote several versions of this post only to have tumblr delete it and make me start over before I had the bright idea to write it on a google doc first so I didn’t lose all my work and that is the draft you are reading now! But, for authenticity reasons, after I saw this ask I scrambled to write what I could remember from my first album listen that took place at exactly 11pm (after I watched and cried to the cardigan video, of course). Here there are in note form:
I cannot believe that in the darkest timeline that Taylor Alison Swift dropped a surprise album with sixteen songs in an entirely different genre (the heart attack I had when I learned folklore was a genre shift; I cannot believe I doubted the song writing legend herself). The album has been out for a week and I kid you not the only reason I know I didn’t make it up or dream it is because this album is far more beautiful than I could’ve ever come up with. I’ve lost track of how many times I’ve listened to it. Everything about the album- the lyrics, the topics, the genre, the production- speaks my language fluently. Even during the first listen I felt that I had somehow known these songs my whole life despite their raw newness.
This might read weird, but I think one of my favorite aspects about the album is how voyeuristic it feels to listen to. I don't mean sexually, but rather the way it feels like I don't have full permission to be looking at the lives of the people she is singing about. It's as if Taylor said, "I know you want to peek behind the curtain and see all my flaws" so she dives into these characters who are very flawed people and is so raw and honest as she takes their place saying almost "I will treat them like you treat me."
Yet at the same time, it's her most grounded album. There's something so shiny about pop music (I'm not knocking it, I love pop music, life's too short not to) but this is as if Taylor's pop mentality was left out in the rain and rusted. There's something so real and familiar about it. Like you can reach out and hold it in your hand.
It's venturing too far into the forest and stepping into another dimension and living in it for sixteen songs. A dimension of mysticism, nihilism, magic, and mistakes.
Here is my track-by-track list of favorite things/ chill moments/ awestruck moments.
the 1- WHAT AN ALBUM OPENER. This song rips my heart out and stomps on it. "You know the greatest loves of all time are over now" Why does lyric make me wanna break down and have the most cathartic cry? The defeated acceptance of it all is gut wrenching. "In my defense I have none" Taylor's turn it phrase on this album is brilliant and I aspire to this level of word cleverness.
cardigan- the slow buildup of this song pure magic. If you don't scream "Cause I knew everything when I was young!" at the top of your lungs when listening to this song, are you really a cardigan stan?
the last great american dynasty- F. Scott Fitzgerald who? No, I only know Miss Taylor Swift. Seriously, this song isn't even four minutes long and it's better than any novel written about the American dream. Also, "and then it was bought by me" Taylor you cannot just drop that bombshell on me without letting me get emotionally prepared.
exile ft. bon iver- a song crafted in heaven. Somehow it makes me both depressed and provides me serotonin. I can't get enough of the lyric "I'm not your problem anymore/ so who am I offending?" FUCK THAT'S GOOD. THE SONG IS SO GOOD. SMASH THAT REPEAT BUTTON. I could drown in this song.
my tears ricochet- by far my favorite on the album, and my favorite number five track. I don’t think there’s another Taylor Swift I relate to as much as this one. This hits a very, very close to a personal place for me. Right at the center of an open wound. And god, the build up. It just makes the emotional experience that more poignant. “And I can anywhere I want, anywhere I want, just not home.” I got chills the first time I listened to that lyric, and it brings tears to my eyes. Needless to say, I’ve had some good cries to this song.
mirrorball- this track is about as cutting as they come. The Imposter Syndrome anthem. It’s the “everything that comes from me has to be perfect, to make up for the fact that it’s from me” song. It’s the sense that nothing you do is worth doing if there’s no audience, yet the audience is the biggest threat. “I’ve never been a natural, I’ll do is try, try, try.” Yeah. There’s a reason this is the TS album I relate to the most.
seven- I keep saying these songs are so beautiful, but god, this one. Her vocals, the lyrics; in my opinion, a defining moment on the album. The driving home of the point that stories are important because we tell them. It’s a story plagued by a narrator who’s too young to understand and can only put the pieces together as she’s looking back. “And I’ve been meaning to tell you/ I think your house is haunted/ your dad is always mad and that must be why.” I almost can’t handle that. The loss of childhood innocence and the longing for it in just three minutes and twenty eight seconds.
august- “REMEMBER WHEN I PULLED UP AND SAID GET IN THE CAR AND THEN CANCELED MY PLANS JUST IN CASE YOU CALL/ BACK WHEN I WAS LIVING FOR THE HOPE OF IT ALL, FOR THE HOPE OF IT ALL/ MEET ME BEHIND THE MALL!” currently trying to learn this on guitar, which is fun because I’m not much of a singer. Also, I think that Betty and this girl should ditch James and date each other, if you’re of the interpretation that James is a cishet guy.
this is me trying- So I know that this is a song about a woman struggling with an alcohol addiction, but I really relate to this song because it just feels so much like my struggle with mental illnesses and the way my potential died so quickly because of that struggle. “I was so ahead of the curve/ the curve became a sphere/ fell behind all my classmates/ and I ended up here.” yep. that’s about it.
illicit affairs- again, the build up. “Don’t call me kid! Don’t call me baby! Look at this godforsaken mess that you made me!” Gotta scream that everytime. Also are we going to talk about the lines “Take the words for what they are/ a dwindling mercurial high/ a drug that only worked/ the first few hundred times” ? because I cannot stop thinking about it, or any of the lyrics for that matter.
invisible string-Joe Alwyn, do you know one of the most beautiful songs in history was written about you? I love the instrumental on this one. Also, it’s just flat out brilliant. “Bad was the blood of the song in the cab on your first trip to L.A” Holy shit. Also, “cold was the steel of my axe to grind for the boys who broke my heart/ now I send their babies presents.” You know what that is? Growth.
mad woman-while my tears ricochet takes the spot as my favorite, this is the Taylor Swift song I claim above all others. “Every time you call me crazy, I get more crazy/ what about that?” This song is at the intersection, however coincidental, of my identity as a mentally ill woman. It’s also extreme vindication the way she calls out women acting as double agents of the patriarchy. A scathing criticism of patriarchal socialization and the way women are punished for reacting to anything.
epiphany- listen to this song after watching the news. lay down. assume fetal position. try not to cry. fail and sob. wash, rinse, repeat.
betty- the old taylor can’t come to the phone right now cause she’s chewing out james for cheating on betty. *wink* However, she will write a folksy banger that’s very old taylor where James takes accountability for their mistake. I love the wlw interpretations of the love triangle songs, and I also can totally see James as a he/him lesbian.
peace-the disembodied feel of this song is so unique to Taylor’s sound but I totally dig it! This is the album of a woman in her thirties, and I hope it paves the way to more women being able to stay within the industry getting older. There’s a maturity here that is the result of having created so many albums and having found her voice.
hoax- Time to go scream off the edge of a cliff in solidarity. An open closer that rivals the defeatism of the opener, a slow descent into madness that has followed a trauma. “You know it still hurts from scars from when they pulled me apart/ but what you did was just as dark/ darling, this was just hard/ as when they pulled me apart.” Literally no words. I’m always left speechless.
If you’ve ever thought “I like Taylor but I don’t like her music because she did country and now does pop” this is the album you need to take a chance on. I can only dream of one day possessing Taylor’s ability to tell stories and this album will stick with you in all the best ways. The reason Taylor Swift can genre jump the way she does so seamlessly is because of her unrivaled strength as a songwriter. Stream folklore on spotify!!!!!!!!!
This is probably much more than you asked for, but I hope it satisfies! Thank you for letting me gush about Taylor and this album!!!!!! Sorry it took me so freaking long! If you have thoughts, I would LOVE to hear them!
#AHHHHH SOMEONE LET ME TALK ABOUT TAYLOR I'M SO GRATEFUL AND I'M SO SORRY IT TOOK ME SO LONG TO WRITE THIS#folklore#seriously i could write books about this album#I didn't even really write all my thoughts lol#tried to water em down#;)#seriously tho - stream folklore

French songs
Hey people! So, the other day I was browsing on Tumblr and I stumbled on post of someone asking for French songs to learn French. And since my taste in music were given to me by my parents, I was quite unsatisfied with the answers. So I decided to make my own list of songs that could be great to listen to if you're learning French because they tell us complete stories. I will really detail my personal favourites and then give you a few names that you could look up.
The styles are really different from each other so if you don't like one, just go for the next.
1) Bénabar.
Albums really worth a shot: Reprise des négotiations, Les risques du métier, infréquentable.
He basically started his career when I was born and, since my parents liked him a lot, he’s a big part of my childhood. But I stopped listening at some point because I had heard it too much and it's only when I rediscovered it two years ago that I really realised what a genius he was. The songs from the first album are always talking about things everybody lives but everybody thinks they're the only one living it. It's great for French learners because he's nearly talking sometimes, and the vocabulary is really good (it's normal vocabulary but words you wouldn't find everywhere).
(A few of my) favourite songs: Les Épices du souk du Caire, Quatre murs et un toit, Bruxelles, l'effet papillon, le méchant de James Bond, le dîner, la Berceuse.
2) Camélia Jordana.
Album: Camélia Jordana (there's a whole joke about that title because no one knows if the album is called "Camélia Jordana" or "Éponyme").
This album is really good. Some songs you better not even try because I still don't understand what she's saying. But mainly the lyrics are nice and her voice is great.
Songs (these are the best ones and those that you can understand) : Calamity Jane, Je pars, J'étais une fille, Ou pas, Non non non.
3) Felipecha.
Album: De fil en aiguille.
They only made one album but it was a good album, mainly because they really knew how to make their voices work together. Their lyrics often don't mean anything but they are complete sentences, grammarly correct and the vocabulary is interesting. Just don't expect it to actually make sense.
Songs: De fil en aiguille, Le plancher des cieux, Intra-muros, matin du café, Quelque part, J'aime dormir, Qu'en restera-t-il ?.
4) Hubert Félix Thiéfaine.
Albums: Just go for the best-of aka the concerts albums. I think "40 ans de chansons sur scène" would be a good place to start (that's what I did, expect I actually went to the concert).
HFT isn't young and he grew up in a time when school was really hard and you learnt a lot of things. Plus,I think he was really curious and he read a lot. So he's pretty cultivated and he makes sooo many references that I will never understand! But he uses very beautiful vocabulary (he likes complicated words) and his songs are very graphics. Some are more easy to like than others, so you might want to try more than one.
Personal favourites: La fille du coupleur de joint, Lorelei sebasto cha, les dingues et les paumés, septembre rose, sweet amanite phalloïde queen (they're all in French although there migh be a few English words).
5) Carla Bruni.
Album: Quelqu'un m'a dit.
Carla has not the greatest reputation in France but her first album was quite nice. It's nothing complicated except she sometimes plays in the songs which means that "La dernière minute" just lasts one minute (so she sings a little fast) and in "Raphaël" she plays a lot on words and sounds which may make it harder to understand.
A few favourites: Quelqu'un m'a dit, Raphaël, Chanson triste, le plus beau du quartier, la dernière minute.
6) Joe Dassin.
Albums: Les Champs-Élysées, La fleur au dent, Joe, Joe Dassin, Les deux mondes de Joe Dassin.
If it sounds like old music it's because it is, OK? No need to be judgemental... Joe Dassin is also my childhood so not very objective here, it's Madeleine de Proust everytime I here his songs. But they're understandable and usually funny and/or cute, so why not give it a try?
Favourite songs: Siffler sur la colline, les Champs-Élysées, les petits pains au chocolat, la Fleur au dent, l'Amérique, Les Daltons, Salut les amoureux, et si tu n'existais pas.
7) Daniel Balavoine.
Albums: Un autre monde, Starmania, Le chanteur, Sauver l'amour.
These songs are not recent either but they are a big part of the Variété Française. Everyone in France knows "Mon fils, ma bataille" (at least, anyone I've ever met which doesn't mean much, I guess...).
Favourite songs: Le chanteur, l'Aziza, Tous les cris les SOS, La vie ne m'apprend rien, quand on arrive en ville.
8) Renan Luce.
Albums: Le clan des Miros, Repenti.
Like basically every artist on this list (except HFT for obvious reasons, you'll know if you listen to the lyrics), this is my childhood. A new album was released recently if I'm not mistaken but I haven't listened to it so I can't say anything about it. But it's nice, especially those ⬇️.
Favourite songs: Repenti, la lettre, les voisines, la fille de la bande, on n'est pas à une bêtise près.
9) Francis Cabrel.
These are classics according to me although I’ve had my fair share of him and try to avoid him a little.
Songs: Gare au gorille (Brassens's version is better), petite marie, je l'aime à mourir, la corrida, les murs de poussière, il faudra leur dire, l’encre de tes yeux, encore et encore.
10) Jean-Jacque Goldman.
Goldman is not the best artist but he got a lot of his fanbase thanks to his lyrics, so his songs should teach you a few things.
songs: Pas toi, tournent les violons, comme toi, il changeait la vie, né en 17 à Leidenstadt, je te donne, envole-moi, à nos actes manqués, la vie pas procuration.
Since I have so many people and songs left, I'll shorten each artist to a few songs.
11) Patrick Bruel.
Casser la voix, Alors regarde, je sais bien que j'l’ai trop dit, place des grands hommes, qui a le droit, mon amant de saint-Jean, au café des délices, marre de cette nana-là.
12) Renaud.
BIIIIG WARNING about Renault, he purposely f*cks up the grammar and vocabulary! So, it's a great training if you want to learn to spot mistakes! He also uses quite the amount of Verlan and words that I only know because of his songs.
Songs: en cloque, laisse béton, miss Maggie, dès que le vent soufflera, mistral gagnant, ma gonzesse, marche à l'ombre.
13) The list: here will be songs I didn't want to put the artist of on the post.
Battez-vous (Brigitte)
Africa (Rose Laurens)
Dis-moi (BB Brunes)
L'Aigle noir (Barbara)
L'assasymphonie (Mozart l'opera rock)
Belle (Notre-Dame de Paris)
Ma préférence (Julien Clerc)

Demain sera parfait (Jean-Louis Aubert)
Le sud (Nino Ferrer)
La chanson de Prévert (Serge Gainsbourg)
San Francisco (Maxime Leforestier)
L'homme de cromagnon (Les quatre barbus)
Je m'en vais (Vianney)
J'ai demandé à la Lune (Indochine)
New York avec toi (Téléphone)
Est-ce que tu aimes ? (M feat. Arthur H)
I'll stop here because that's already a lot.
I hope it’s going to be useful to some!
Enjoy!

Britney Spears' Greatest Cultural Contribution Is Her Instagram Account

Britney Spears' Greatest Cultural Contribution Is Her Instagram Account
In smoky eye makeup and a fuzzy blue bathrobe, retired pop princess Britney Spears belts Frank Sinatra lyrics into her iPhone camera and, as a result, into the broader cyber universe. “I want to be a part of it / New York, New York,” she coos in a video posted to Instagram earlier this year, punctuated by an extra helping of vibrato and a filter that not only douses the performance in a cascade of golden stars but digitally endows Spears with a pair of furry ears and the voice of a drunken baby chipmunk.
“Who doesn’t love Sinatra??” the caption reads.
“Hear, hear!” more than 1.6 million followers implied with the tap of a “like.”
Spears’ lovably erratic Ol’ Blue Eyes impression is not an anomaly. After conquering the world of pop music and enduring a paparazzi-chronicled meltdown in 2007, she has reemerged over a decade later as an unapologetic social media superuser. Her Instagram in particular, a hodgepodge of corny jokes, earnest mantras and inexplicably hypnotic selfie videos, functions like a repository of all the things that make the internet good.
Of course, I am eternally grateful for all of the sonic gems Britney Jean Spears has gifted us followers. (My first concert was Spears in her hometown of Kentwood, Louisiana; I frequently attempt the choreography to “I’m a Slave 4U” when I reach peak drunk and still tear up while listening to “Everytime.”) But when it comes to Spears’ most influential, unusual and profound cultural contribution, I have to point to her multifaceted, sincere and utterly confounding Instagram feed.
I mean it. Spears’ Instagram is rife with the kind of unfiltered millennial soul-searching that can seem overproduced or unapproachable in the hands of, say, Kim Kardashian or Beyoncé. To her 18 million Instagram subscribers, Spears is certainly still the superhuman we’ve come to love, a master of metamorphosis who’s traversed the classic phases of womanhood ― Mickey Mouse Club starlet, precious schoolgirl, snake-wielding sexpot, fame-tainted “trainwreck” and, finally, Vegas icon ― in the early-internet public eye. But now, online and selfie-savvy, Spears is also a mother, patriot, Nietzschean scholar, Christian, yogi, food critic, Hillary Clinton stan, painter, tomboy and girly girl) ― all in one constantly updated feed.
Her social media persona is so enchanting because it complicates, rather than calcifies, fans’ understanding of a star.
Spears’ ability to provoke a pure sense of bewilderment and fascination is a rare feat amid an infinite feed of influencers. In one post, she’s the basic-as-hell girl next door, posting inspirational quotes like “keep the ones that heard you when you never said a word” and milquetoast jokes like “just let me shop & no one gets hurt.” But then there are the posts that don’t fit the mold, like the minion memes, elephant pics, black-and-white images of “antique children” and trippy New Age artwork.
And of course, the true showstoppers: videos of Spears herself strutting, twirling, pouting and teasing. The clips somehow feel spontaneous, even DIY, although they’re clearly cut from many takes featuring multiple costume changes.
Therein lies the allure: Spears does little to cover up the effort behind her montages. Rejecting concerted nonchalance in favor of unapologetic effort, she showcases a sincerity so exposed it becomes vulnerability. For someone who’s been so thoroughly shaped and tormented by a greedy public, Spears’ radical openness feels especially fearless.
I brought up my obsession with Spears’ Instagram in a recent email exchange with culture writer Mallika Rao (also a former HuffPost colleague), who’s written about the mysteries of self-representation online. Spears’ social media sagacity, she agreed, stems in part from her total disregard of self-conscious curation, which allows her to jump from posting calculus equations to providing bikini thirst traps in the blink of an eye.
“Instagram is a brand management tool, even among people branded as ‘creative’ or ‘iconoclastic,’” Rao wrote to me. “Britney does not seem to care for brand management. She uses Instagram as kids once used home videos, to work out fantasies for an imaginary viewer. Her primary beneficiary ― her perfect viewer ― seems to be herself.”
One of the most iconic of Spears’ Instagram posts, uploaded in October 2017, is a video of the multidisciplinary artist painting flowers and swirls on a canvas outside a Versailles-esque mansion I can only assume is her home. “Sometimes you just gotta play!!!!!! 🤓😜💋💅🏻👩🎨🎨👯👗👛👒👠🦄🦋🐠🌹💥💥” the caption says.
There are so many things to love about this video: That Mozart’s “Turkish March” is playing in the background; that Spears, perched with one leg on a stool like a flamingo, starts out wearing a men’s button-down shirt over her white pushup sports bra and workout shorts before the vid jump-cuts to an outfit change with a kimono robe; the way she purses her lips in a pensive yet flattering pout before each blessed stroke.
Above all, Spears exhibits almost no artifice while presenting her Art to the masses. Again, it’s not that she’s not trying in her presentation, but that she’s clearly trying so hard. The evidence of her effort is written all over the post, its deliberate staging ringing truer than forced authenticity. The video, described by Glamour as “delightfully bizarre,” quickly went viral, and the Spears original painting ended up selling for $10,000. (For more Spears painting content, check out this equally primo gem.)
Since she was a teen, Spears has lived her life on a stage, perhaps preparing her for our post-Insta reality, in which privacy is a right we’ve all gleefully abandoned. In her book Trainwreck, Sady Doyle describes the impossible tightrope Spears was forced to walk in the prime of her fame. To avoid public scorn, she had to be “virgin and pin-up, wide-eyed innocent and worldly temptress, icon of cool and conservative Christian role model, she would always have to be both and neither, everything and nothing.”
It’s no surprise that this unimaginable pressure made Spears crumble. And as Doyle put it, her suffering became a form of entertainment, plastered across Us Weekly and TMZ. As a result, Spears’ life between 2008 and 2016 was governed by a court-approved conservatorship, meaning her father, sister and lawyer were in charge of her personal and financial decisions.
After staying out of the spotlight and rebuilding her life and self, Spears appeared on Instagram not as a symbol of desirable femininity or calamitous adulthood but as a real, weird person with interests and a sense of humor and a passion for strutting down the catwalk. For Spears, a public figure who was asked to embody the contradictory values of sanctioned womanhood from an extremely young age, this newfound freedom appears intoxicating.
“People are obsessed with Britney’s Instagram because it offers some glimpses of hope,” critic Alicia Eler, author of The Selfie Generation wrote to HuffPost.
As Rao put it: “We re-meet someone we thought we knew until she left in a haze of mystery,” she told me of Spears, “turning into herself and turning notions of fame on their head.”
In yet another classic Britney post, the singer stands alone in her cavernous living room wearing a little black dress and belts “I Can’t Help Falling in Love With You” using the same affected tone she’s rocked since she was a teen. No one is in the room for the performance, save for whoever is moving the camera around Spears for the full 360-degree view the video affords. Unapologetically, she got all dressed up to perform for Britney, and Britney alone.
“I’ve always wanted to do a performance like this,” the caption reads, “singing in a pretty little black dress, with a simple 360, one take shot! I figured since it was my birthday, why not go for it?! So boom 💥 When the clock struck 12:00, I did it!!!”
For us non-famous normies, social media can offer a space to pretend that things worked out differently. On the platform, friends become followers, not unlike fans; documentation of the most mundane activities suddenly warrants attention and praise. We can use digital space to curate and perform the platonic versions of ourselves.
Spears, who grew up famous and in the spotlight, uses Instagram to do the opposite.
In the words of Spears herself, “Sometimes you just gotta play!!!!!! 🤓😜💋💅🏻👩🎨🎨👯👗👛👒👠🦄🦋🐠🌹💥💥.”
