_1969: Jimi Hendrix is arrested in a Toronto airport for found hashish and heroin in his luggage. He not only claimed but stuck to his story that he didn’t know it was in there, stating that fans have casually slipped drugs and other stuff in his bags w/o his knowledge on occasion. 3 days at trial and a Not Guilty plea later, Hendrix was acquitted on all charges. He later said outside the courthouse, “Toronto just gave me the best Xmas present in the world.” _1976: While on tour David Bowie, Iggy Pop and two other tour staff are arrested at 3am in a Rochester, NY hotel and found w/ approx. a 1/2lb of weed. Bowie posted bail for everyone that same night and a manager convinced the cops to allow him to leave and be photo’d and processed at arraignment. Bowie pled Not Guilty and after only a day on trial, the charges were thrown out.
