The lights shone for a moment longer. Confetti rained from the ceiling like mana from the heavens, with the small difference that mana seldom blinded those it landed on. Still, Nabs held her pose, one arm in the air, a plastic smile that somehow read sincere on camera, legs precisely spread beneath her shoulders creating a perfect "x."
Nobody could tell how heavily her chest heaved, save her stage partner. They weren't looking at each other, but it was easy to tell both their energies had been sapped by the performance. Three rounds of planned encores on top of a full routine was already enough without knowing there was another one tomorrow.
A boy/girl duo wasn't a common trope, but that was probably what gave them their edge. It also helped that, thank god, their manager had never tried to imply that they were an item. It was a bad look for any idols, man, woman, or otherwise to date at all, and dating within the act was probably a bad idea.
Which made it all the more unfortunate that they were, in fact, dating in secret.
It didn't show on stage, though. They were a perfect duo, and they even bickered in front of the press to really sell the image. Big girl bossy Nabs and the charming, suave Gan who seemed impossible off stage, but harmonized flawlessly. No wonder they kept selling out.
The curtain fell, the lights dimmed, and they were finally allowed backstage. Nabs immediately collapsed on a couch in the green room, feeling like glitter had replaced her skin.
"I swear to God if they make us do glitter again next season I'm gone."
