Chappie!!! They!!

The Chapel Dweller is that light in the tunnel, the sunshine on a cloudy day, one of the only characters who genuinely wants to help.

I really like how they're initially scary! They're anxious in their speech patterns that can be misread as suspicious, they're Pthumarian like a lot of the enemies in Cathedral Ward, and they're gaunt and legless.

They do the pretty standard "don't judge a book by it's cover" message and I do love that for them. Especially when they're contrasted with Fauxsephka.

They also imply a lot about the way the Chruch and Yharnam treat Pthmarians. The abuse we can assume Chappie has faced at the hands of Yharnamites contrasts with that theme of Yharnam losing its roots- its connection to the Great Ones- through its attempts to reach up and take it.

Going on from that, I think it's important that the haven for Oedon in Yharnam is the chapel they run. It's like Chappie is strongholding this little bi of Pthumaru in a town that is largely disconnected from where they came from.
