one dramatic difference between utena and wfm is that miorine already wants to leave in episode 1 and if anything she has to learn to want to stay part of the system therefore suletta is never punished by the narrative for dueling - shes only punished for being naive and obeying her mother. meanwhile the fact that anthy doesnt want to/feels that she cant leave for 38 and a half episodes makes it so that utena on the other hand is punished very harshly for participating in the duels
