Some people are not ready to admit that we actually are introduced to a character who offers a gray perspective on the people involved in this war (as opposed to strict black-and-white) and that’s Sirius (and yes, this is spitefully motivated by the fics where Harry is a Slytherin, meets other gray characters, and Sirius is shown as an immature idiot). Has everyone somehow forgotten the scene in GOF when Sirius is telling people that he’s not sure if Snape was a Death Eater even though Snape hung out with people Sirius for sure knew were Death Eaters, and then says that he can’t be sure if BCJ was actually guilty or if he just had the bad luck of being near the Lestranges at the worst possible time?? Sirius outright admits that he wasn’t the only one who didn’t receive a trial, he knows it’s entirely possible that other “convicted” Death Eaters were innocent just like him. Sirius is the main person we see actually acknowledging that the villains are people too, the world’s not black-and-white, good-vs-evil. Say what you want about Sirius, but at least dislike him for what he actually did (and I will never shut up about “Sirius hated Slytherins,” show me where we see him insulting either Slytherin House or using that House as an insult, and him hating blood-purists who happened to be Slytherins doesn’t count, that’s just hating bigots. Maybe I forgot a scene [and no, the train scene doesn’t count because it’s James insulting Slytherin, Sirius doesn’t], but somehow I doubt that)

it’s weird that j&s become a single entity in exactly the worst possible way in a lot of marauder interpretations bc people see james being black & white and hexing people & fucking with snape and immediately paste the same traits onto sirius, even when we have the literal opposite evidence. why do we think sirius hated slytherins???? have i just completely forgotten that bit from canon?

ok also omg stop. you just brought back SO MANY years old flashbacks of me devouring slyth harry fics and almost every single one of them, without fail, had harry interacting w these worldly, complicated, morally grey characters vs being ashamed of his embarrassing one dimensional prejudiced godfather :/// ‘sirius will u stop calling my friends slimy snakes!!!!’ just. yeah. loved those fics. always had to click out of those bits lol
