Alright here's a short version of how I'd fix Bride of Discord. As a sort of mental editing exercise.
While not really a good fic for a lot of reasons, Bride of Discord actually has a lot of potential as a story. There's a lot of great imagery, and it has a lot of fic tropes I like and are fun to read. I actually would probably change less than some people would. (If your "rewrite" doesn't keep any of the original anything, it's not actually a rewrite babes)
It's just that a lot of stuff in it is maybe played from the wrong angle.
Also there's no saving the Applejack/Spike thing. That's just gross. I think you could keep a similar subplot, just change it so AJ's crushing on someone else. I like AppleDash, but RariJack would probably work the best here. Maybe in this version she's afraid to confess bc she thinks Rarity is straight since she's so femme.
As for the main couple, I think you could actually make the demanding a wife thing work, just have it play out differently.
Like, Discord is old. He spent a lot of time as a statue, and might not be up to date on modern society. Maybe instead of it being a VERY creepy request that screams "sex slavery" make his request explicitly a somewhat less creepy political marriage.
That was common back in his day, and he IS trying to make a peace treaty with Twilight. Being married to one of her people is a show of good faith, that she won't go back on her word, and he won't go back on his, as well as metaphorically uniting their kingdoms.
He doesn't care who it is, because he's not intending to fall in love with them. At best they're gonna be an extended house guest.
They can even point out that's dated and weird, but he can also counter he doesn't know how else to get a proper show of trust. He doesn't trust them with his own safety, but he does trust they won't go after one of their own.
That could also play into why he's so insistent they get married already. Fluttershy trying to avoid the marriage once she's in his kingdom makes it feel like he's being set up, and like the treaty is tenuous. Or maybe he's even suspicious that she's avoiding because the ponies don't plan to stick to their deal.
That could even factor int the climax, but I'll get there.*
Discord can be lonely, and he can still also be a little desperate for companionship, but I don't think that should be his reason for the marriage. Otherwise he could've just asked for a companion, not a wife. Plus, I feel like per-reformation Discord would be in denial about being lonely. I think he'd only start to realize how much he's been missing out on until AFTER he's gotten to know Flutters.
*So in the climax, Fluttershy declares she doesn't love him bc her friends are badgering her, and he gets creepy possessive and tries to hypnotize her and there's a fight and what-not.
Yeah, instead of that what if it's his paranoia that she's avoiding getting married because they plan to betray him coming to a head?
He hears Fluttershy say something to her friends that out of context sounds like they're going to blast him back into stone after all. So he's think she's a traitor who played him for a fool.
I'd nix the hypnotism, just have him and the six fight it out, and then he kicks everyone out before Fluttershy can explain because he's heartbroken and doesn't want anyone to see.
Lot of minor fixes I'd throw in too, cutting out plot threads that go nowhere. Less heteronormativity. Fixing a LOT of OOC-ness. A LOT.
Oh and I'd change Discord's backstory too. The Megamind rip off thing is meh, and I think Discord's a character you could do a lot more interesting things with that that.
As for Fluttershy, a huge problem I have with this fic is she lacks real agency. I want her to choose to go with Discord, not out of the weird sense of feeling she has to sacrifice herself. (It comes off, for lack of a better word, suicidal.)
Maybe instead, she chooses to go because despite her shyness, she's bold when it matters. She will stand up to him. She's not going to be afraid of him anymore. She's gonna tame him like every other wild animal she's had to deal with, and save her home in the process. She's going to come back. He can't keep her there if she really decided to leave.
Have her be the Fluttershy who tried and failed to use her stare on him.
Also, in the original I never at any point felt like she fell in love with him. Just that she gave up resisting his advances. She's always wary and hesitant to do anything with him. That's fine for the beginning of their relationship, but for this to be a good love story that has to change at some point.
Where's the moment she realizes she finds him a little attractive actually? He's weird looking, but he's so confident and funny and fun and that's really appealing. Where's the part where she's having fun and forgets she's a prisoner? Where's the real bonding? Setting boundaries?
Maybe she convinced Discord to let her friends visit, not because she's marrying him already, but because she convinces him to try to make other friends. And he does it, because he loves her already at this point. And she thinks if he and her friends could get along, they could work thing out. Maybe she was hoping things would go well so she could tell him she wanted to marry him after all.
Maybe she really did want her friends at her wedding, but also to be able to have her parents, her brother.
This last bit has nothing to do with the author's writing. This fic was originally written before the show ended, and we got a lot of lore afterwards she couldn't have known about. That's not her fault she couldn't see the future. But just for my sanity, I'd add in more cannon lore.
And uh. I guess that's all got with what I remember of it. Yeah.

im gonma make bride of discord relevant againt i sweer
anybody else remember bride of discord (and daughter of discord) by that disneyfanaticbunchofnumbers on youtube? yeah i freaking loved it as a kid. still do now honestly, it was honestly one of the cornerstones of my childhood and it's my favorite thing to listen to while i work. i call it my soap opera.
that being said 90% of the morals are AWFUL holy shit. i still appreciate it because it's heartwarming as a passion project and comparably more mature piece of fanwork considering the my little pony fandom at the time; but the toxicity between discord and fluttershy? the homophobic undertones in the sequel?? the treatment of rarity as a character??? THE APPLESPIKE??????
that shit has GOT to GO. so im writing a fix-it-fic for my own self indulgence lmao. i'll be posting my progress and some tidbits here, but i'm not even halfway done with transcripting the episodes and planning out my changes, so it'll be a long while before the final drafts are ready to post. when they are, they'll be posted on archive of our own, but until then, everyone and anyone is more than welcome to offer changes that they would like made, or factors of the story they'd like to be kept. theres no guarantees that they'll be included, but it's still so fun talking about this thing with other people, and it's always good to engage with others in this phase of the process. below is a list of major to minor notes i've already got in mind.
I want to keep the serious tone of the story. By far I think the thing that kept me attached to this series for so long is how the mood differs from so much of the fandom back then. the stakes in the beginning were legitimately high, the conflict took itself seriously, and the production quality was through the roof. this is the audiodrama's hallmark, it's iconic and must be kept in mind when contemplating changes.
Many smaller changes must be made to the Fluttercord plot in order to make it healthier and more natural: the infantilization of fluttershy, discord's overbearingness and harrassment, literally nearly all of episode 9. red flags. i think the biggest issue is that the character arcs are based more on shipping and tropes than the actual characters. there's nothing wrong with this in moderation, but in this case, the relationship is unbearably toxic. the arcs in the rewrite will be a lot more character-focused.
Instead of applejack and spike being the secondary romance, i'm going to make it applejack and rarity. yes i do ship rarijack, but this decision was primarily made in order to get two birds with one stone with applejack and rarity's depictions in the series and its sequel. free my girl rarity and leave my boy spike alone :(
Take pinkie pie more seriously as a character. this isn't just a problem with BOD but also the actual show FIM. she just gets annoying sometimes and her lack of depth really irked me in BOD.
GET RAINBOW DASH AWAYYYY FROM SOREN GET THAT OUT OF HERE
i feel like fluttershy's "tragic" backstory explaining her hesitance as being adored is kinda underwhelming. so is her insecurity, her insecurity not expanding beyond the "doesn't know she's beautiful" trope just rubs me the wrong way, she deserves more depth than that.
discord. discord. the relationship is so one-sided to discord that i think i can only name 2 things he legitimately done for fluttershy's happiness (both of which he lowkey ruined not a day later. most of their "bonding" scenes are just him trying to distract her from her tragic reality and her desires by doing stuff he wants to do, which btw is a manipulation tactic so GET THAT OUT OF HERE)
theres quite a few weird undertones and stereotypes. the pedo and "nice girl" stuff with applespike is the most obvious one, but theres also some lowkey misogynistic quips thrown in there and, although this might not have been an issue at the time, zecora does fit the "wise black woman" trope that's been pointed out many times in recent media, so i do need to adjust how she's portrayed.
another problem that FIM also commits, but rainbow dash just feels so mischaracterized as an element of loyalty at some points. i want to make her loyalty more prominent, to the point of putting her career on the line because she couldn't abandon fluttershy or her friends when they were breaking down. that would be real sweet.
i dont know if im also going to rewrite daughter of discord, i might consider it after im finished with this one, though. also i promise i write way better than i do here when i try lol
#bride of discord#my little pony#mlp fim#mlp#fluttercord#rarijack#bride of discord rewrite#ive been working on this for 3 months already :(

The Final Manga (for now)
Fluttershy is throwing a party for all her non-pony friends. This includes Discord. But he ruined her scavenger hunt by just magicing all the items to them. Observing, the Pony friends call out Discord for ruining this for her with Rainbow Dash saying he couldn’t do any better. Cue to Post-Series Finale and Discord finally figuring out his Scavanger hunt: they must travel to other dimensions and find the Elements of Harmony.
Of course, by Season 9′s end they were destroyed. So he took these during their encounter with Nightmare Moon. And since MLP established time travel having a butterfly effect, he basically changed Equestria into the Nightmare Kingdom with only 5 of the main six retaining their memories but slowly losing it. Twilight, being out of Discord’s influence, is a little bonkers talking to a rock recreation of Spike. Also, he can’t bring them back because he made sure even he can’t interfere.
So combining the first and second manga, while there is an overarching storyline each middle chapter focuses on one of the Girls. Fluttershy enters a dimension where she’s a big time celebrity and the only way to get to the element is to face her stage fright, again. To be fair, Discord is messing with the timelines and from their Final Episode designs to their more recognizable designs, it looks like they’re slowly losing the development they had. Which means this Fluttershy is unable to face her fears, but luckily the audience thinks its part of the act when two Fluttershys show up and one disappears.
Rarity’s Dimension is where everyone is stuck in the 80s and that includes the fashion. But to get her Element Rarity has to win a Fashion Contest to save the Foal Center from being demolished. While throwing everything into the wall, she manages to tie since her opponent just copied her design but inverted the colors. So to break the tie it is a battle of Rubix Cubes and Rarity demolishes her opponent because she actually has color coordination.
Pinkie Pie is in a world of Super Heroes as she has to team up with the Somber Twilight and her former sidekick Spyke (because Poor Literacy is KEWL) to find the Pink Piester. Also the Apple Family is a gang of criminals. This is the easiest since Twilight goes through with this like a weekly basis and the Piester is basically Pinkie if she was a bad guy. Pinkie saves the day by not only getting her element, but also making the giant pie that was gonna wreck the city disappear with her.
With Rainbow Dash, she has to team up with herself, which this world doesn’t really seem to have any major difference. They identify it as an Element of Harmony. Ponyville is their residence. The only difference is they have a race track that’s next to a gravity well. If the Element of Harmony goes too fast, the Sonic Boom it’ll create will unleash the Black Hole, sucking in most of Equestria. Another point to Planet Equestria? She can’t go too fast either because a Sonic Rainboom will just do the same thing. So other Dash comes in and they come up with a plan: speed up fast enough to create a Sonic Rainboom but time it just right so it only happens in her normal world. And it works.
Applejack ends up in the Manga World of the First Manga and teams up with her Ninjas self to defeat DIO before getting her element of Honesty. Words can’t describe how funny this chapter is. So many tropes and Dark Matter Apples. But despite how fun this one is, I don’t think its the best chapter. FOR YOU SEE!!!
Generation 4 Twilight accidentally took the place of Generation 1 Twilight and has to do the movie Midnight Castle. Even though this is a messed up version of our Twilight, I always wanted to see this done and it is great! If you got to read this Manga for one thing its this. And with all of them getting their Elements, they make it back to their normal time...
Which is currently under the control of Nightmare Moon. Of course since the Dimensions flow differently, others arrive sooner than others. So Twilight comes in first, followed by Rarity and Applejack, then Fluttershy followed by Rainbow Dash and Pinkie Pie. We got Spike leading a resistance group, the Apple Ninjas showing up, Fluttershy Beastmaster, its a riot I wish we could have seen animated. But with Nightmare Moon defeated, Discord returns the Elements of Harmony back to their original time and restore their world...
To the Pony Life Incarnation. Thus making Pony Life a legit continuation of our series thanks to Discord messing with time. Of course not. Secondary Media is usually ignored for the Prime if they contradict things. If they do or not depends. Overall, its a fun Manga. Thanks to Time Shenanigans any issues you may have with their development could be blamed on that and it is nice to see the bridge of what originally came before and what came after. If Gen 5 is a continuation, I hope its a fun one.

Let Me Touch Your Fire (Steve Harrington x Henderson!Reader) Chapter Eight
MASTERLIST
Dustin grabbed your arm and harshly pulled you back inside closing the gate.
"Ouch!" You exclaimed touching your arm as you glared at your brother.
"Are you insane!?" He exclaimed "They could've barged in any moment!"
"Jeez! Sorry" you said, "It's just... they are gone" tears fell down again "And it's my fault! I could've done something! Helped them close the door, Steve, he pushed me and Robin, oh Robin I hope she's okay, what if they kill them before we get help? Oh god I don't know what do anymore I just-"
Dustin grabbed your shoulders tightly and shook "Calm down!" he exclaimed not letting go of your shoulders "No one's going to die, you hear me? We'll come up with something! You need to be calm so we can get the shit outta here"
You stared at him speechless "I know you are worried, I am too, but we need to stick together and come up with a plan to save them before it's too late"
You nodded and he finally let you go.
"For now, let's crawl around and find and exit" Dustin started, and Erica followed, with you behind both kids.
Footsteps above you echoed around the vents as you crawled around, trying to keep the tears and negative thoughts away. You could hear Erica and Dustin talking and you tried to listen to their conversation to keep you distracted but it was harder with every passing second.
You found yourselves stuck, Dustin was trying to open a panel to stop the moving fan so you could continue moving, you felt more relaxed now as you heard Dustin talking to Erica about what happened with the Demodogs.
"By 'we' you are including Lucas?" Erica sounded unconvinced and you smiled breathing a little loudly through your nose.
"Of course," Dustin looked at Erica for a moment and went back to the task at hand
"So, all that shit you told me, Lucas was there?"
Dustin nodded
"Really? My brother? Lucas Sinclair?"
"Yes!" Dustin's voice was louder now, your smile widened. You remembered how Lucas was always the most fearful of the group, you guessed that hadn't changed thanks to Erica's doubt, but you believed Dustin, if he said Lucas was there, then Lucas was there.
"I don't believe you" she finally said, and you giggled.
"Wait, so you believe everything about El and the gate, and the Demodogs and the Mind Flayer, but you question your brother's involvement?"
It was hilarious, really, how could Erica believe that sci-fi story and not his brother's involvement was beyond you, but at least it made you laugh while everything else around you seemed to fall apart in chaos.
"That's correct" she said with a nod.
"Makes total sense" to your surprise Dustin agreed, your suspicions were true after all, he was still the same fearful kid as all those years ago.
"Do you need help with that?" you asked, your voice barely audible and a little raspy.
"No" he said, and you shrugged, letting him continue. Erica was having none of that though.
"Well, it's taking a while so-" she said
"Yeah, no shit, Sherlock" Dustin looked annoyed as hell.
"All right, so if we don't find a more efficient method to stop these fans, we are never gonna find help and your ice cream buddies are screwed"
Your breath hitched and you looked at Dustin, fear flooding your eyes, what if she was right? He noticed but said nothing turning his attention to Erica once again.
"Yeah, with that attitude, they are"
"I'm just being realistic. I mean, we've made it about point-three miles in nine hours. Then we had to walk three hours down that tunnel, so I'd estimate ten miles back to the elevator, which should take us approximately twelve-and-a-half days"
Dustin and you exchanged surprised looks and looked back at Erica.
"Did you just do all that in your head?" you said with an incredulous tone.
"I'm good with numbers" she answered.
"Holy shit" Dustin exclaimed "You are nerd"
"What?"
"You... are... a... nerd"
"Okay" Erica said "You better take that back nerd"
"Can't put the truth back in the box" you said with a shrug and a playful smile appeared on your face as she stared at you wide eyed.
"But it's not the truth" she argued.
"Let's examine the facts, shall we?" Dustin said "Fact one: you are a math whiz, apparently"
"That was a pretty straightforward equation"
"Fact number two" Dustin ignored her and continued "You're a political junkie"
You remembered her speech at Scoops, Dustin was right.
"Just because I do not agree with Communism as an ideology-"
"Fact number three: you love My Little Pony" Dustin grabbed Erica's backpack.
"And what does that have to do with this?" she grabbed her backpack and placed it beside her.
"Ah, let's go back to the ponies' last adventure, okay?" You kept silent, eager to see where this conversation was going "The evil centaur team and Tirek turns Applejack into a dragon at Midnight castle, and then Megan and the other ponies have to use Moochick's magic to defeat his rainbow of darkness, saving them from a lifetime of enslavement"
You snickered; Erica's face was priceless.
"All the pink of the world cannot disguise the irrefutable fact that centaurs and castles and dragons and magic are all standard nerd tropes. So, My Little Pony, is, in fact, nerdy and you, Erica, are a nerd"
"And how do you know so much about My Little Pony?" she asked placing her hand under her chin.
"Because, I'm..." Dustin finally grabbed the panel's small door "A nerd" he finished and pulled at the cables making the fan stop completely.
"Let's go, nerd" you moved and looked back at Erica as she glared at Dustin for his comment. You smiled.
"Show off" you whispered at Dustin and he smirked at you, crawling ahead to lead the group once again.
*
Steve groaned as he received another punch. How come every time weird shit happened again, he always got beaten somehow? First Jonathan, then Billy and now some Russian soldier? Just when he thought he had finally won his first fight...
"That one stung" he gasped for air as he looked up again.
"Who do you work for?"
"For the millionth time, I work at Scoops Ahoy!" his voice sounded desperate as he gasped for air, repeating the name of the company that hired him. However, the officer did not seem to believe any word that left his lips.
Another punch, but this time on his stomach. He grunted in pain "What the hell?! Look at my outfit!" he exclaimed, he was out of ideas "Do you think I wear this for fun or something? You think I'm a spy in a sailor's uniform?" Maybe he shouldn't have said the last part, but he didn't care anymore, his head was spinning, and his body and face ached like hell. Another punch, same place, he closed his eyes and grunted.
"How did you get in?"
"I already told you" he said between gaps "My delivery didn't come and my friends and I thought that it was left at the loading dock, so we went in the room, and then it turned into an elevator, and then... and then we dropped and then, next thing we know, I open my eyes, and we're in this... wonderful facility. I swear to God, nobody knows about it, nobody saw us. You could just let us go, all right? We are not gonna tell anyone about this, we promise. Shit happens, life goes on. And, uh... ice- ice cream. Everyone loves ice cream, right? I don't if you have Russian ice cream or if that is considered gelato. But whatever you want, seriously. USS Butterscotch, you gotta try it"
The officer looked at him, he felt those eyes bury into his soul as he finished, almost trembling with fear.
The soldiers in the room laughed with the officer, Steve laughed nervously with them.
Maybe they finally believed him, and now, they were gonna let them go and they'd just forget about this and he'd be able to continue his normal life.
His hopes died when the officer asked again: "Who do you work for?"
He pleaded and the last thing he felt, were hard knuckles against his cheekbone before everything went black.
The soldiers dragged Steve to another room. Throwing him inside.
Two more soldiers were dragging Robin too. She was struggling and screaming, telling them to let her go, but they threw her inside anyway. She landed painfully on her back next to Steve. She quickly sat up, calling Steve's name only to find he was unconscious. She tried to wake him up as the door opened. She looked up; eyes full of anger.
"What did you do to him?" she said.
The officer slapped her across the face, and she fell back again with a grunt. She whimpered as the same soldiers that dragged her inside picked her up again. "Don't touch me!"
They sat her down harshly and she grunted again, her back pressed against Steve's.
"Steve, wake up" she tried again "Steve!"
They tied them up, Robin trashed around trying to break free.
The officer walked towards Steve and pulled his head up by his hair.
"Don't touch him!" she said.
He clicked his tongue and let Steve go; his head fell.
"Steve! Can you hear me?"
He walked around them, "I think your friend need a doctor" his voice thick with a Russian accent, Robin's stomach churned. He stopped in front of her, her angry stare never leaving his frame "Good thing we have the best ones here" The officer laughed and looked at the soldiers, they laughed with him and Robin snapped, spitting across his face.
He pulled out a handkerchief and washed the spit away, glaring daggers at Robin, she glared back.
"You are going to regret that little bitch"
Her eyes filled with tears, but she refused to let them down, breathing heavily as the officer said something in Russian and walked away, the soldiers behind him.
"Bastards" she followed them with her gaze "Let us out of here!" she kept screaming and the door closed loudly, leaving her alone with Steve unconscious against her back.
*
Dustin pulled aside the gate and you stood up looking around. You looked around the room, it was full of the green goo the elevator transported.
The three of you stepped outside and continued to look around. You watched Dustin walk away and walked behind him next to Erica, you smiled as you saw a small red car in front of you.
"Do you even know how to drive?" Erica asked as Dustin grabbed the steering wheel
"How hard can it be? Max did it" Dustin sat inside, ready to drive.
"What the hell Dustin? I'm driving" you said standing next to him, crossing your arms across your chest frowning.
Dustin ignored you completely "Aw, come on" you looked over his shoulder to see that the key was missing, obviously.
"You seriously thought they were going to leave the key there?" Erica said.
"There's gotta be a spare somewhere" Dustin answered looking around the car. Erica sighed and walked away. You watched her look around and decided to help Dustin with the missing key.
"Dustin?"
"Yeah?" he answered, not looking away, he stepped out to keep looking for a key.
"How big did you say the Demogorgon was?"
"Nine feet or so, why?" he turned to look at the table next to the car. Erica did not answer, and you kept looking, Dustin doing the same.
"Found them" Dustin said and you looked up with a smile.
"Great!" you said a frown replacing your smile as you noticed that Erica was missing.
"Erica?" Dustin and you said in unison and jumped when an electric sound answered you. You looked towards Dustin and found Erica holding weapon.
"What the hell is that?" Dustin asked and you tried to steady your heartbeat placing your hand on your chest and closing your eyes, taking deep breaths.
"A deadly weapon" she answered, "Could be useful" She turned it on again and Dustin jumped back in surprise.
Erica had a point.
"For what?" Dustin asked and looked at you.
"We could help our friends" she said.
"Thought you were more realistic than that, nerd"
She rolled her eyes and walked away "We don't even know where they are, and even if we knew, there are probably a million guards there with weapons way deadlier than that"
Erica got inside the car, Dustin followed her as he talked "The best we can do for them is to get out of here and find help"
Dustin had a point too, but what if something bad happens to them while you try to escape?
He sat on the driver’s seat, you cleared your throat and raised an eyebrow, he huffed and gave you keys, making more room for you "Just trust me on this one okay?" he said as you sat down and started the car.
You wanted to trust him, you really did, but your instinct was telling you something else.
*
Steve felt calm, it has been a while since he last felt like that before. He opened his eyes slowly, a hand softly playing with his hair and he hummed, he tried to sit up, but his body ached, he hissed.
"Easy there tiger" a voice said, and he met E/C eyes and a warm smile "Y/N?"
"Come on, dingus" her palm was against his cheek and he leaned into her touch, not really feeling anything. A scream echoed around, you looked away from him and pulled your hand away, standing up, his head fell against the blanket underneath him.
"You have to go" you said, the wind moving your hair around as he watched you.
"What?" he asked, trying to move again, his body didn't respond. You started walking away and he screamed your name.
"Open your eyes Steve" he heard you whisper, and you were gone, the screams got louder, and his head ached.
Robin could hear her screams echoing, her throat was sore, but she kept screaming, hoping someone would come in and saved them.
"Would you stop yelling?" she heard Steve's voice and relaxed immediately. She looked his way and then up at the ceiling.
"Steve! Oh my god" she panted and called his name again. "Are you okay?" she asked when he didn't reply.
"My ears are ringing, and I can't really breathe. My eye feels like it's about to pop out of my skull, but apart from that I'm doing pretty good" his voice was raspy, he really sounded like shit.
"Well, the good news is that they are calling you a doctor" she chuckled, trying to lighten up the somber mood. Steve looked up.
"Is this his workplace? Because I love the vibe" he answered and Robin chuckled again, glad Steve was conscious and joking around with her.
"You see that table over there to your right?" Steve looked at the wrong direction "Your other right" Robin corrected, and Steve looked "You see those scissors?"
"Uh-huh"
"Maybe if we move at the same time, we'll be able to get over there and maybe I can kick the table and knock them into your lap"
"And I could cut the binds" Steve said
"Yeah, and then we'll get out of here"
"Gotcha, we can do that"
"Yeah, I can't believe it! Those morons just left the scissors there" Steve's voice sounded more awake, and even a little happy.
"Total morons" Robin agreed with a laugh "Okay, on the count of three we are gonna hop"
"Okay, okay, I gotcha"
"One, two, three" they moved. Relief washed over them, Robin's plan started smoothly and hopefully will end just like that. They counted together and moved again.
"This is gonna work!" Robin exclaimed, a huge smile on her lips
"We're almost there. Ready?" They counted together again but when they moved the chair slipped and they fell on the floor, both groaned in pain. Robin laughed softly.
"It's okay, it's okay" Steve tried to look at her "Don't cry" Robin giggled louder and Steve frowned "Are you laughing?" he asked
"I'm sorry! I just, I can't believe I'm going to die in a secret Russian base with Steve 'The Hair' Harrington"
"We're not gonna die, we're gonna get out of here, okay?" Steve ignored the nickname and focused instead of thinking about a new plan.
"Do you remember, those school band concerts to gain extra points?" Robin's voice made him stop thinking.
"What?"
"The charity concerts, that's what us band dweebs called them" Robin looked towards Steve, a fond smile on her face as she remember her younger years at school "We organized them every year so the kids that needed extra points would have a chance to pass. You'd always go, with your friends"
Steve kept quiet.
"I played in the band; I'd always watch you take your usual seat every single year. Mister cool... the King of Hawkins himself. Do you even remember me? Or her?" her tone was sad when she finished the sentence and Steve wondered who the other girl was, she was talking about. He kept quiet, guilt spreading through his body.
She chuckled softly "Of course you don't. You were a real asshole, you know that?"
"Yeah, I know"
"But it didn't matter that you were an ass. I was still obsessed with you" she admitted "Us losers, we just wanted to feel accepted, normal..."
"If it makes you feel better, everything that everyone says, what you should or care about, Its total bullshit. But I guess you gotta mess up before to figure things out"
"I hope so" she said "I feel like my whole life has been one big error"
Steve laughed "Yep"
"At least it can't get any more messed up than this" she smiled, maybe if they got out, she'd have a second chance and she'd finally be able to make everything right.
They laughed.
"I wish I had known you before" He said "I'd have passed all my classes and maybe I'd be on my way to college instead of being trapped here"
"And I'd have no idea that a Russian base was underneath this and I'd be slinging ice cream with some other idiot" Both teens chuckled, Robin's eyes stung, and she blinked away the tears.
"It was fun while it lasted"
"It was"
Buzzing sounds filled the room and the door was open again. Steve and Robin looked towards the sound rapidly. The officer looked down at them
"Where were you two going?" his voice sounded almost playful and he clicked his tongue in a scolding manner. The other soldiers placed them up again.
"Try telling the truth this time. That'll make your visit with the doctor less painful" The officer moved the hair out of Steve's eyes and then grabbed his chin. He winced in pain and the officer chuckled, his gaze moved towards the doctor and he nodded. The doctor moved towards them and Steve panicked.
"Wait a second. Hold on" his pleas were ignored again, he looked at the syringe the doctor was holding, his heart racing "What the hell is that thing?"
"It will help you talk" the answer was simple; the doctor grabbed his hair and pulled his head, so his neck was exposed. Steve screamed when he felt the syringe pierce the skin on his neck.
The Russian guys were gone just as fast as they arrived. They have been alone for a few minutes.
"Honestly, I don't feel anything" Steve broke the silence, his tongue touching his lips "Do you?"
"I guess I... I feel fine" Robin answered
"I kinda feel good" Steve admitted, and they laughed.
"Wanna know a secret? I like it too" they continued laughing. The door opened again, and the officer stepped inside with the doctor trailing behind him. Steve's gaze moved between the doctor and the officer.
"Would now be a good time to say that I don't like doctors?" Robin said shaking her head, she watched the doctor place knifes and other materials that were obviously for torture.
"Let's try this again" Steve nodded, "Who do you work for?"
"Scoops" he chuckled "Scoops Ahoy" Robin chuckled too, the officer glared at them.
"How did you find us?"
"By accident"
The officer looked at the doctor and said something in Russian. Robin watched him grab some tweezers. He walked towards Steve and grabbed his fingers. Steve panicked again
"No! Wait!" he screamed.
"There was a code! We heard a code!" Robin's voice made them stop.
"What code?" The officer walked in front of her, she repeated the code and exclaimed how they found the signal with cerebro, a mocking tone and a smile.
"And now people know you are here"
"Who knows?" the officer was angry
"Uhm, Dustin knows and Y/N" Steve said.
"Hey, Steve" he ignored her
"Yeah, Dustin and Y/N Henderson"
"Ugh! Steve"
"Henderson" the officer repeated "Are they brothers? The curly haired boy and an older girl with H/C?"
"Curly haired. Great hair and his sister is just so beautiful" he answered
"Where are they?"
"They're long gone asshole. And they are probably calling Hopper and he's probably calling his cop friends" he laughed "They're gonna come in here and kick your asses back to Russia"
"Is that so?" he said with a smirk
"Yeah" Robin and Steve laughed, the officer and the doctor laughed darkly.
Alarms blared around the facility and everyone looked towards the door. Their laughing stop, the officer looked at Steve and he shrugged his shoulder with a triumphant smile.
Everyone was yelling in Russian outside as the officer walked away. Dustin opened the door and yelled, using the weapon against the doctor. He fell unconscious on the floor. You rushed towards Steve and Robin, starting to untie them.
"Hendersons!" they screamed happily at you. You kept untying them and Dustin quickly helped you "Crazy, I was just talking about you" tears blurred your vision as you met Steve's gaze, his face was a mess, you looked rapidly at Robin and calmed down a little as you noticed she was fine, not a single bruise or cut on her face. Dustin nudged you and you pushed your thoughts aside to help Dustin. You wanted to say something, but the lump in your throat made the task completely impossible, Dustin saw your struggle and talked.
"Get ready to run" he said and pulled the strain harder, breaking it. It fell to the ground and you held your bread.
It was time for step two.

My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic
Good God.
I finally managed to watch the final episodes of the show, and even though it wasn’t the most pitch-perfect ending ever (and even though I skipped like all of the final season), I still gotta dish out my thoughts on the whole thing. It’s not my tippy-top most favorite show, but it’s definitely the one with the most lasting impact on me. I mean, considering it created one of the biggest fandoms of all time, I’m pretty sure I’m far from alone there.
Obviously have to start from the beginning. I think I got into MLP around the 2nd season, maybe in the middle of it but definitely before the 3rd. I don’t exactly remember, since it was so long ago, but the first two seasons might hold some of the most saccharine, mindless nostalgia of all. Every single episode holds some spot in my memory, even the filler episodes with the cheesy notes to Celestia at the end of them. Honestly those were adorable, even if they were the classic kid’s show trope of “Let’s explain the moral to the kids who don’t have half a brain” but it’s actually pretty charming. That’s nostalgia talking, by the way. Obviously. If I found a new show today that did that, I’d roll my eyes a little, and I probably did when I was first watching the show.
But, it’s an understatement that this was my life. Of course, I was at that time of my life where one thing could very easily become my entire world, but that doesn’t mean it didn’t matter to me. The pretty solid, unchanging artstyle gave me an opening to try and draw it, and for years I exclusively drew ponies, and even when I had a human character, I’d only be able to draw them in pony form, so I ended up meshing their stories into fanfiction on how they could become ponies. My “Icon” character at the time, Satyr, was probably the first original character I drew, and I can still remember the exact drawing I made of him. Obviously a pony, he was sort of larger and masculine, conveniently blinking eye so I didn’t have to deal with that, basic hair/tail styles, and for some reason a jagged zig-zag pattern going laterally across his body, like those “How would a horse wear pants?” memes. I thought it was really good, so I kept going, and here I am ages later still drawing stuff. I couldn’t even bare to fully ditch the shitty characters I made (and I’m going to explain them without context because I just feel like it): Satyr got split into his immortal and prince-ly side; Diane, a manic serial killer, shrunk down but kept her impossibly anxious personality; Gaseous is basically all the same, except he doesn’t meet the rest of the crew in what parts of his story I know about; Sistenagon (here we go with the weird names, they don’t mean anything) still kept his (her? Don’t actually remember which I called it) wasp-y nature, except in the form of an insect-based fairy tribe leader; Stelerachyt, who I drew as a Diamond Dog, is still a big, fluffy, dog, but turned into a more regal and kingly type of person; and Myriad Alloy (the only one with an actual pony name) got a complete makeover, and actually became my favorite end result after all is said and done.
Like, I love ranting about these guys. They were basically my own Mane Six. And yes, Satyr TOTALLY dated Twilight. Why wouldn’t he? Main character a Main character. Plus, he was supposed to be me, and I totally wanted to hit that. I’m not ashamed to admit it.
I mean, I guess a big part of why I actually went down that path was because of the large fanbase. I didn’t begin with the beginning of the show, but I guess I came in with the first large wave, so all of the stuff I made got just enough attention to make me think people wanted to see what I was making. If I started out with OCs, no one would’ve cared, and I very well could’ve stopped.
Even apart from that, this show definitely kick started my downward spiral into femininity. I mean, it’s pretty self-explanatory. Everyone “knew” MLP as being something super shallow, only to be enjoyed by shallow little girls, then they pumped out Friendship is Magic and everyone else loved it, so I gave it a shot, and I loved it too. Obviously every fandom has the people who openly, irrationally hate them, but the whole thing was welcoming enough to keep it solidified in my mind, and bish bash bosh, it kept going and will probably keep going into eternity. It’s funny, even then I drew Satyr with the more feminine pony design (not entirely because drawing the male pony type was harder), so I was setting myself up for the future.
I guess this kind of gives me a window to talk about My Life as a Teenage Robot, because for as long as I could remember before actually watching the show, I seriously despised any instance of XJ9 I could find. If an image of her popped up on screen, I would close it faster than if it was porn found while around my parents. I don’t know why she was so harshly ingrained in my mind. You could argue I just hated “girly” stuff before I realized I actually loved it, and didn’t want to face my emotions, but I wasn’t exaggerating at all about that porn thing. I actually couldn’t look at her for more than a second. But, one day I decided to cave in and see what was up, and soon enough she became one of my favorite cartoon characters of all time.
Back to ponies, some of the content produced by the fandom also had some extremely fond memories in my mind. I think I still have some songs by The Living Tombstone and WoodenToaster on my MP3 player (partially because it’s just good stuff) and for some reason playing on MLP-themed TF2 servers was actually really fun too. Some notable fandom people reacting to recent episodes was a spectacle I always looked forward to, and I still am subscribed to Saberspark and Ratchet on Youtube after all this time, probably as well as various other people who are still there but haven’t posted anything since the settling of the fandom. I just remembered, Hotdiggetydemon probably qualifies for all that too, since his .Mov series was the talk of the whole fandom. That, and Friendship is Witchcraft. I had to re-look up the name of that one though, but I still loved it.
I guess I should play favorites, huh? Favorites was the one game everyone in the fandom played.
Favorite episode: Can’t not be a tie between the 2-parters of Season 2. Discord is a riot, and Chrysalis is actually one of my favorite villain designs of all time. I’m a sucker for both shapeshifters and bugs, so you can’t expect me to not like her. Glad she rode the villain boat till the very end, although reformed Discord is definitely fine too. Plus, the rest of the Changelings turned anyway.
Favorite song: You expect me to not tie things up here? The Flim Flam brother’s Super Cider Squeezy 6000 is great, as are the brothers themselves, and I also love This Day Aria, since it’s the focal point where people realized this show seriously wasn’t just colorful, cute ponies. The Art of the Dress is also pretty catchy.
Actually, just remembered. Under Our Spell might be it. Took me a while to remember the EQG stuff, but that song is seriously good, and unironically better than the generic dribble that somehow magically beat it.
Favorite background pony(ies): Vinyl and Octavia are a pretty cute duo, and with the killer duet in the Slice of Life episode, ya gotta love em. Funny thing, though: There’s this background pony that looks almost identical to my current self-insert pony OC, with purple hair and a grey coat, with a seemingly writing-based cutie mark and green eyes. He’s even a unicorn too. It wasn’t intentional, I swear.
Favorite CMC: Sweetie Belle is too much. Her little squeaks are too pure. I can’t take it. Applebloom has nice colors, though.
Favorite Princess: If you don’t say Luna you’re a cop
Favorite non-pony species: Obviously Changelings, but after their reformation the honors actually switch to the Kirins, just because of how cool they look. The Yaks are pretty fun too. Speaking of…
Favorite nu-Mane Six (or are they called the School Six? Whatever, you know what I mean): All Yona. And yes, I had to look up her name was, who cares? She’s adorable.
Favorite of the Pillars of Equestria: I honestly love that they made Starswirl an actual character in the show. For the longest time, people just assumed he would stay in the form of Twilight’s Nightmare Night costume forever, but then they actually made him real! That’s really cool.
Favorite Equestria Girls design: Once again, Sweetie Belle steals both this spot and my heart.
And, of course… Favorite of the Mane Six:
Honestly, it just depends on the mood I’m in. Not even remotely lying there.
Fluttershy would’ve been my answer way back then, since I was into the shy types. There’s definitely something still there. You can’t deny that she’s the most cuddly of them all.
Twilight might’ve been a tie for the top around then too, since I was also the too-smart-for-humanity type. That leads into you liking the “smart” ones. Plus, in the latter half of the series, she did feel like she was put one step above the rest of the cast. That kinda makes her feel slightly off, I guess. Still like her, though.
Pinkie Pie’s one of those that I can imagine liking, but if I ever actually had to deal with that much energy I might actually melt. And, not in that I’m-totally-in-love kind of melting. Literal, actual melting.
Rarity, in terms of concept, is easily my favorite type of character for the show. On the surface, she’s the generic fashionista type that every girl’s show has, but instead of her being someone who “just makes clothes” she’s actually seriously hard working and goes through all the regular motions you’d expect from an artist. Turning such a cliche on its head and giving it a much more realistic image is perfect for this show. Also, she’s purple. I like purple.
Not much really needs to be said about Applejack. She really seems like the most logical one of the group, even at the very beginning. That’s great to have when everyone else is acting like spoiled/sheltered brats (at least, when she’s not acting that way either).
But, I really gotta be honest… I’m never really in the mood for Rainbow Dash. She’s like the opposite of AJ, where she’s always some degree of arrogant, and even though watching her achieve her dreams is nice, her big head gets a little annoying for side gags. Also, if you showed me a plain picture of the Mane Six, I would’ve told you she was the main character instead of Twilight, just because she stands out so much more. I mean, the show isn’t called “Twilight Sparkle: Friendship is Magic,” but still.
If you really want a straight answer, I’m in a Rarity mood right now, so I’ll go with that. It’s probably the safest bet, because, like I said, I do love purple. Not just purple, but purple AND white put together. One of my favorite color combinations. Just add a little gold, and you’re, well, you know...
But… Yeah. All good things had to come to an end. I feel like its time came. Plus, they ended the show with the little story book thing they did in the very first episode, so as far as I’m concerned the series is complete. It did its job, anyway.
