the smoke was dense and thick, making it almost impossible to see within five feet. the smell of sulfur and concrete filled the nostrils of the ânew avengersâ.
new york has seen yet another attack, this time by another outer space alien thingy that bucky couldnât remember.
thereâs a dreadful silence between the group, all stuck in their own minds, trying to figure out just what went wrong. how they got defeated so quickly.
he stood with his hands on his hips, trying to regain his breath after being slammed into a plethora of floors from one of the skyscrapers.
ava hunched over holding her midsection while also trying to catch her breath. yelena, leaning against a fallen slab of a building while clenching her arm. walker, somewhere else, blowing off steam as his shield was snapped in half, and alexei going on some sort of rant.
âitâs fine, this is fineâ the broody older man speaks, his thick accent grating against buckys ears. âeverybody get up!â the red guardian claps, trying to pump up the group. âwe are the thunderbolts!!!â
yelena rolls her eyes, keeping a hand pressed on her arm, âdad, stopâ. she looks at the man with sharp eyes. they say optimism is good to have on a team, but alexei had too much. it often got annoying.
turning a corner, walker, stuffing something in his suit pocket, looks to the others. âweâve been compromised.â
ava stands, crossing her arms. âwhat?â she looks between bucky and yelena, who have the same look on their face. it isnât dread, it isnât worry, itâs something much worse.
alexei mutters some swear words in russian under his breath. and for a moment, no one knows what to do. they arenât a team, they have no backup, and bucky knows that sam wonât help him.
yet again, heâs alone.
âwell, what now?â ava asks, her attention trained on the white widow. âah!â alexei holds up his fingers, then snaps, carrying a proud look on his face. âa safe house!â
everyone pauses, stealing glances at each other with a blank expression. clearly growing tired of the red guardians persona. âoh, youâve got to be kidding me..â ava exasperates, before taking a few steps away from the group.
bucky contemplates for a moment, hes staring off at the gray rubble beneath his black boots. he only had a handful of options, one of those being sam. as he was not on the best terms with sam, he figured his last option would suffice. you.
âi know a place.â
the sun was just rising, its misty rays barely peeking through the thick fog. the air was cool and damp, the ground beneath covered with an early morning dew. a cabin tucked away amidst the trees stood silent and still, as if waiting to welcome the day.
the trees surrounding the cabin were barely visible through the dense fog, their leaves shimmering with dewdrops like tiny jewels on their green surfaces. the air was silent, save for the soft sound of the nearby river.
stepping off the quinjet, bucky stopped at the edge of the ramp, looking at his home he shared with you. he felt happy to be back home, but a part of him dreaded the following events.
bucky knew he was risking everything by bringing the others to his home, to you. someone who bucky made sure to keep hidden from everyone. he didnât do it because he was ashamed or didnât love you, but he did it because he loved you so much. it was better to keep you off file and off record, for your safety.
if anything happened to you, bucky wouldâve surely lost his mind.
âwhy the hell are we at a cabin, bucky?â walker quips, following the other super soldier. âwe canât go on vacation now.â
âshut up, walker,â bucky snaps, shooting a glaring look over his shoulder as he waits for the rest of the others to fall in behind him. âwhat are we doing here? we clearly need a safe house,â yelena chimes in, ava and alexei adding something under their breaths.
bucky can already feel himself getting agitated with the anti-heroes. itâs hard enough working with people that collectively cannot get along, it was doomed from the veining. âitâs safe, just trust me.â
crossing the threshold of the dark oak cabin, the scent of fresh laundry mixed with mahogany, vanilla, and cashmere filled his nostrils, and in an instant, the tension in his shoulders dropped.
home. the living room was cleaned, and a few blankets on the leather sofa. you must've napped. a few records scattered around the record table, one still on the turntable, but the record had stopped playing long ago.
âbaby? iâm home!â he calls out, not seeing any sign of your presence as he steps into the living room. itâs quiet, almost too quiet. bucky steps further in. âbaby doll?â
the team steps in hesitantly, their hands hovering over whatever they have to defend themselves with. sharing puzzled glances with each other as bucky calls out to you.
you emerge from the stairway with a laundry basket on your hip. a quiet gasp gets caught in your throat as your eyes look past your boyfriend and see his co-workers. âwhat the..â you mutter, your eyes finally landing on bucky. âbucky?â
âwe had nowhere else to go,â he explains, the wear and tear of fighting visible on his body. his eyes hold even more exhaustion than he let on.
you drop the laundry basket on the sofa and approach him, he hopes his arms and pulls you in, pressing a kiss on the top of your head.
yelena interrupts, âIm sorry..â the blonde holds out her hands, nose crunching with confusion. âwhat the hell is happening here?â
âyeah..what the hell is this?â walker stands behind yelena, his arms crossed now.
âguys, meet my girlfriend, y/n,â he introduced, holding you by his side. his thumb rubbing up and down your shoulders.
âhi..â you smile, holding up your hand to wave awkwardly. your freehand wrapping around buckys midsection.
the team is left speechless, all mouths are open, but no words are formed.
âgirlfriend?!â yelena is flabbergasted, her eyes almost popping out of her head.
âoh! this is wonderful!! alexei is pushing past the other three, walking towards you with a big, dopey smile. âyoung love!â he cheered, clapping loudly.
you laugh awkwardly, again, because what do you do when the avengers are standing in your house?
âbuck?â you look up at him, he had a less than amused look on his face.
âwe just need some place to lay low, get patched up. i didnât know what else to do.â
âah, okay,â you pat his chest playfully, an amused laugh coming from you. âi can help with that.â
âgirlfriendâŠâ walker whispers as you begin leading the group downstairs to a makeshift med bay.
âshut it, walker!â buckys voice booms from a few feet ahead.

June 27th, 1985.
A summer breeze gently creeps into Jonathanâs room, bringing the scent of dandelions and your childhood with it. Itâs early evening and Jonathan hums to himself quietly, laying in his bed as he lazily skims through a comic he stole from you last week. Youâre next to him as you carefully cut pieces of construction paper to glue onto the posterboard. Dustin comes home from camp in a few days and you want his welcome home banner to be perfect.
In the other room you hear the floorboards creak, followed by the sound of Joyce and Will laughing at whatever movie theyâve put on in the living room. Hearing their laughs makes you smile; itâs been so long since youâve heard them laugh.
The tune that Jonathan hums now becomes a familiar one, and absent mindedly you begin to hum along with him. The cool summer nightâs air encases the two of you, as if it senses that you want to freeze this moment forever. Youâre in the Byers home, pressed against Jonathanâs side as you hum together an old song from when you were both fourteen and thought you had the world all figured out,
Itâs nice, having this moment all to yourself with him. Moments alone with him have become few and far between, and it saddens you to think about.
Thereâs a new mall in town, Starcourt, and within a few months of it opening, Bookstrordinary has slowly been edging out of business. The entire town of Hawkins quickly fell in love with the mall, but with this love came the abandonment of downtown Hawkins.
Mrs. Waters can barely afford to have you work more than a few hours a day, so youâve been spending your days visiting Nancy and Jonathan at their internship at the Hawkins Post or hanging at Scoops Ahoy to see Steve and Robin. While your friends have been lovely, you canât swallow down the fear that youâll lose your job by the end of summer.
As if somehow reading your thoughts, Jonathan puts down his comic and pokes your cheek. âHey, Iâve been meaning to ask if you and Nance thought of anything else to try and save Bookstrordinary.â
You glue down a letter and try to distract yourself with the miniscule task. Nancy has been brainstorming a million ideas to try and help Mrs. Water, and while you appreciate her effort, itâs no use. Swallowing down even more dread, you shake your head at Jonathan. âNo, nothing. Nancy offered to help organize a book drive to get more customers, butâŠâ
âIt wouldnât be enough.â Jonathan finishes for you.
âNot nearly enough,â you sigh, desperately wanting to change the topic now. âBut besides me possibly losing my job soon, how has yours been at the Hawkins Post?â
Now itâs Jonathanâs turn to sigh. âItâs⊠okay? I guess. IâI mean, definitely not what I expected it to be. The hours suck and the men are awful, butâŠâ he shifts uncomfortably and looks away from you, embarrassed. âA job is a job.â
You rub his arm, understanding what he means. The Byers have always struggled with money, but ever since Will went missing two years ago and Jonathan lost his last job at the Hawk movie theater, itâs only gotten worse. Theyâve tried hiding it, but last week you sneakily paid for Willâs ice cream at Scoops Ahoy while no one else was looking.
âI get it, bee.â You reassure him, hating that he even feels embarrassed in the first place.
Jonathan smiles and leans into your touch, appreciative of the fact that you know his family well enough by now to understand all heâs too ashamed to say. The two of you sit quietly for a few moments before he tries to lighten the mood with something else. âYou excited for your birthday, bug?â
âUgh,â you shake your head in disgust, which Jonathan laughs at. He knows youâve never really liked your birthday. âDonât remind me.â
âItâs in a few days, so you gotta suck it up.â Jonathan flicks your forehead and you swat your hand at him. âBesides, I bet $5 that Steve has some grand proposal planned for your birthday this year. Heâs spent the entire summer drooling over you.â
His words make you blush furiously. âHe has notââ
âHe definitely has,â Jonathan tries to flick you again but you dodge, giggling. âIâm surprised he hasnât publicly declared your love for you yet. I think thereâs a betting pool going around the party.â
You gasp. âYouâre lying!â
âNope. Lucas and Max both lost last week, they bet mid June. Now itâs only me, Nancy, Will, and Dustin in the running.â
âWhat about Mike and El?â
âMike didnât want to encourage you dating Steve and the party agreed it felt unfair to have El gamble seeing as how sheâs, ya know, still getting used to being in society.â
Despite yourself, you laugh. The idea is so bizarre and lovely, knowing how invested everyone is in your alleged love life, and it makes the worry youâve been feeling fade away. âCan I join the pool? If I actually lose my job, Iâll need the money.â
Jonathan scoffs at you. âThat goes against every gambling ruleââ
âPlease? I could be poor soon!â
âNo, itâs not going to happenââ
âButââ
A knock on the window cuts you off. The two of you look up at the sound and find Nancy standing outside, waving and smiling. You hurry over to let her in, happy as always to see her. Sheâs been spending more and more nights at Jonathanâs, always sneaking in through the window.
Itâs disgusting, and you couldnât be happier for them.
Jonathan helps the girl climb through the window and greets her with a kiss to the forehead. âHey, Nance.â
She smiles up at him with a shine in her eyes, and you know itâs time to leave. Itâs getting late, anyways. You start to gather your banner supplies as you greet Nancy yourself. âWelcome back, Wheeler.â
âHello to you too, Henderson.â
You wink at the girl and quickly ruffle Jonathanâs hair. âIâm going home, bee. My mom wants me to help prep Dustinâs room and I wanna have his banner done by tomorrow.â
âBike home safe, please.â He says with a stern finger pointed at you.
Rolling your eyes, you give a mocking salute to Nancy and Jonathan. âUse protection, kids. Iâm too young to be an aunt.â
Nancy gasps while Jonathan practically trips over his own two feet at your words, and you laugh. You leave them alone to compose themselves, closing the door to Jonathan shouting, âThat wasnât funny!â
Youâre still giggling to yourself when you walk into the living room and see Joyce and Will sprawled on the couch. Their movie has just finished, the credits are rolling as you stand next to the TV and wave goodbye to them.
âYou leaving so soon?â Joyce asks, surprised to even see you leave Jonathanâs room in the first place.
âYeah, gotta finish up Dustinâs welcome home banner,â you hold up your supplies. Then, through the houseâs thin walls, you all hear Nancyâs soft giggle. At the sound, you lean in close to Joyce and Will and dramatically whisper, âPlus, between the three of us, company came, soâŠâ
Willâs eyes widen. âYuck!â
Joyce chuckles, remembering how in love she was at Jonathanâs age back then. âWould I be a bad parent if I told Nancy she could just use the front door?â
âI donât think so, but itâs fun watching them think theyâre getting away with it.â You steal a piece of candy from the bowl Will had been eating out of, and he holds it up higher so that you can grab more. âThanks, little bee.â
âYou think itâs fun teasing Nancy and Jonathan now, Y/N, but when youâre the one sneaking in through a boyâs window one dayâŠâ Joyce shrugs, a twinkle in her eye. âYouâll understand.â
Will looks up at you with his own evil glint in his eyes, and before you can stop him, he turns to his mom and says, âI wonder how high Steve Harringtonâs window is.â
You pretend to attack Will and he giggles as he flees his seat and runs to the other side of the living room. âWill Byers I will spit in your cookiesââ
Joyce covers her mouth and gasps. âY/N, are you hiding a boyfriend from me?â
Quickly you stop chasing after Will, terrified of the idea of the woman thinking youâd hide anything from her. âWhat? No! Iâm not dating Steveââ
âYet!â Will exclaims from across the room, but his retaliation is followed by a shriek as you chase after the kid again.
âIf you keep this up, Iâm telling Steve to stop letting yâall sneak into the movies!â You threaten as you chase the boy around the room.
Joyce watches in amusement, sheâs never been able to take her eyes off of you when youâre with her boys. Will dodges a grab and you stumble, giving him just enough time to hide behind his momâs armchair.
He pokes his head out at your threat, his eyes now uncertain. âYou wouldnât really tell Steve that, right?â
Catching your breath, you collapse onto the couch and shake your head at him. âNo, little bee. I wouldnât.â
Youâd never do that to Will. Heâs been so keen on spending as much time as possible with the party this summer, spending each and every moment planning DnD campaigns and biking all over Hawkins to spend mere seconds together. Will has spent all summer trying as hard as possible to be a kid again because so much of his childhood was stolen by Upside Down.
Will slowly gets up from behind the armchair and sits next to you, relieved. âOkay, good. We wanna see a movie tomorrow night and I already promised everyone youâd get Steve to let us in. That wouldâve sucked.â
You and Joyce laugh at the boyâs response, and it feels so good to have this moment with the two of them. You allow it to wash over you for a second, the Byers home has always had such a comforting effect on you, before getting up and gathering your things once more. âI really should go, though. My mom is waiting.â
Joyce and Will say goodbye and tell you to be safe on your way home, and it warms something within you. As you bike down their driveway home, you inhale the summer nightâs air and wonder, days before you turn seventeen, how much longer you have left of just this: being a little kid going home after a long day.
â
When you get home, Tews greets you with an angry meow.
The cat had been a Christmas gift for your mom from you and Dustin, seeing as how you accidentally killed Mews. Your mom had cried seeing the little kitten, and had cried even harder when your brother suggested the stupid name âTews.â
But it stuck, and now Tews glares at you as you take your time feeding her.
In Dustinâs room you can hear your mom rustling around, frantically cleaning the place as if it currently isnât the cleanest itâs ever been since the kid has been gone all month. After you feed Tews, you make your way over to your brotherâs room to help with cleaning.
A few hours later, youâre laying in bed, exhausted from your long day. Dustinâs banner sits on your desk, right next to the phone that resides in the corner. Yawning, you glance at the clock, but when you see the time, you smile.
The phone rings.
âRight on time, honey.â
âArenât I always, angel?â Steveâs voice soothes your aching bones, his words like honey, the very thing youâve come to associate with him.
Phone calls have become more and more common between you and Steve. Youâre not sure when this tradition formed, but when you arenât at Scoops and he isnât at your house infiltrating your family, youâre on the phone with one another.
Hearing Steveâs voice puts you at ease, and it wasnât long before you started calling each other before bed every night.
âHow was your day?â You ask him, spinning the phoneâs cable around your finger as you lay in bed.
Steve lets out a dramatic groan. âI swear, after you left today, Robin intentionally amped up her taunts. Itâs like youâre her buffer or something. The second you leave,â you hear him snap his fingers, âshe turns against me!â
âRobin would never do that.â Your voice is monotone as you say this, which only makes Steve groan dramatically once more. Robin would most definitely do that; you both know this.
âYou two are the worst together.â
âYeah, well,â you pull your blankets up to your chin and readjust into a comfier position. Your eyes feel heavy and Steveâs voice settles over your body. âPrepare for more pain tomorrow night. Will and the party have grand plans to sneak into yet another movie.â
Steve sighs. âThose kids are manipulating your power over me to get what they want.â
âYou call it manipulation, I call it bonding.â
Another sigh escapes Steve. âYouâre going to be the death of me.â
âAnd yet you stay.â You tease.
âAnd yet I stay.â
You bite back a smile; you can almost perfectly envision Steve laying in his own bed, phone pressed to his ear with his hair messy and eyes half lidded as he talks to you. You wish, more than anything, that you could be there with him right now; instead, you fall asleep to the sound of Steveâs voice, slightly raspy from his own exhaustion.
â
The next day you wake up to an empty house. Your mom has been spending her summer at Hawkins' pool, like all the moms in town now do, to admire Billy at his new job.
It grosses you out to no end, and when your mom comes home some days swearing that Billy winked at her, you have to swallow down the phantom pain of his fingers wrapping around your windpipe.
By the time you get to work, Downtown Hawkins, as always, is a ghost town.
Itâs been this way ever since Starcourt opened, and as you park your bike and lock it up, you canât help but be unnerved by how quiet everything is. It was only a few years ago that you had to scream at a crowd of onlookers when Jonathan and Joyce had had that fight when they had found Willâs body in the quarry.
Now, walking slowly towards the front doors of Bookstrordinary, all you hear is silence in the once lively area. There are posters scattered throughout the old town, but theyâre worn from the sunlight and torn from the weather. Itâs a depressing sight.
Mrs. Waters greets you kindly when you walk in. âHello, dear.â
âHi, Mrs. Waters.â You give her a quick peck on the cheek as you quickly swipe your card to clock in. The bookstore is empty. âAny new shipments today?â
The old woman shakes her head forelonly. âAfraid not. We still havenât sold last monthâs shipment.â
You duck your head down and curse. This is the second shipment you werenât able to sell. âIâm sorry, Mrs. Waters.â
âOh, donât be!â She walks over to you, her wrist shakes as she uses her cane. She has aged so much these last few years. âIâve owned this store for thirty years, dear. Iâm just happy that I can give you and Alex a job before you kids go off to college. Besides, itâs given me something to do these last few years without my husbandâŠâ
The womanâs eyes glaze over, something that has started to happen more and more now, and you grab her arm gently and give her a little shake. âHey, Mrs. Waters. You still with me?â
She blinks, looks around in a confused daze, before breaking into her old smile once more. âOf course I am! Now, sort some books while I ward off those debt collectors with this cane.â
Despite the gravity of the situation, you canât help but laugh at Mrs. Waters as she waves her cane around madly and gives you a wink. She hobbles back to her office and leaves you alone with the books and the ghost of Downtown Hawkins.
Only two customers come in during your four hour shift, and by midday Mrs. Waters releases you so that she can give Alex a few hours of work as well. Sheâs trying her best to keep you both hired for as long as she can, so she splits your hours. What she doesnât know is that Alex now has a job at Hawkinsâ pool and only comes into work because he just canât bear to quit, and neither can you.
You bike to the mall, sad and needing a pick me up. Jonathanâs teasing from last night echoes in your head. How could you possibly think about your birthday when your boss is slowly losing both her mind and her business?
At the mall, your feet unconsciously take you to Scoops as they always do. This has become your favorite part of your dreary days: going to Scoops after work. The smell of ice cream greets you as you walk into the shop.
Robin sees you first and waves excitedly from the register. âY/N!â
âItâs me!â You run up to the counter and lean over it to squeeze the girl into a tight hug.
Thereâs a loud crash from the backroom and just as youâve pulled away from Robin, Steve bursts through the doors and leaps over the counter to join in on the hug. âThank God youâre here, Robin was about to make me clean the tables.â
You giggle while Robin scoffs, pulling away. âItâs your turn, dingus.â
Steve, still hugging you from behind, hums. He begins to rock you back and forth in his arms, which only makes you giggle more, while he pretends to think about what the girl has said. âNope, donât remember it being my turn.â
Robin gives you a pleading look to back her up, and you reluctantly slide your arms over Steveâs and release his grip. He groans in complaint at the loss of your touch, and you roll your eyes at him as you turn around to now face him. âCâmon, letâs go wipe the tables so dear Robin can man the register in peace.â
Steve groans even louder now as Robin cheers, and you snatch the rag from his pocket and begin to wipe down the tables. He follows eventually, moaning and groaning as he cleans next to you, and you hit your hip against his. âHey, at least youâre getting paid for this.â
âI give you free ice cream!â He argues, pieces of his hair falling out of his adorably dorky sailorâs hat that he has to wear for this job. Itâs incredibly endearing, and as he hunches over to scrub at a particularly dirty table, his thighs strain against his probably too short shorts and you canât help but stare at them. As you admire this spectacular show, Steve catches you and flicks your nose. âQuit ogling me and get back to your free labor, angel.â
âI wasnât ogling, I was simply admiring.â
Robin gags from behind the register. âI can hear you guys, you know!â
You and Steve both stick your tongues out at her before going back to work.
The hours pass by quickly after that. The midday rush of tweens and teens alike infiltrate Scoops, so Steve helps Robin fling ice cream while you get comfortable in your designated booth in the corner. Youâve hidden a supply of comics underneath one of the boothâs cushions and you spend your time catching up on the latest Spider-Man arc.
Youâre so engrossed in what youâre reading that you donât notice a body slide into the booth next to you until the person speaks.
âSpider-Man, huh? Heard heâs a pretty cool guy.â
Startled by the strangerâs voice, you almost drop your comic in alarm. When you see that itâs just Jason Carver sitting next to you, you place a hand to your chest and inhale quickly, trying to settle your rapid heartbeat. âChrist, you scared me.â
âSorry!â He genuinely looks apologetic, so you wearily set down your comic and straighten up.
Youâve never spoken to Jason before, even though youâve been in the same classes ever since eighth grade. Heâs always ran with the popular crowd, being a jock and all, and youâve always ran with Jonathan. However, despite being on the basketball team, Jason has never been mean to either of you, so you figure itâs safe to offer him your attention.
âCan I ask why youâre here?â You cock your head at him, feeling your hair fall over your shoulders.
Jason smiles at you, in a sort of cute and charming way. âStopped by to get my little sister some ice cream,â he points to a little girl next to him, who waves at you, and you wave back. âThen I saw you sitting here all alone reading one of my favorite comics, so I figured it wouldnât hurt to say hi to such a pretty girl.â
You blush at his bold words. Youâve never received such attention from anyone before, at least not anyone normal thanks to Billy, and youâre not really sure why Jason seems to be paying attention to you now. Heâs had years to do this.
Jason sees your sudden shyness and chuckles. He stands up and offers you his hand. âWhy donât I buy you some ice cream, maybe you could help me show my sister around the mallââ Steveâs shoulder collides roughly into the teenâs, causing him to stumble into his sisterâs ice cream cone and get chocolate ice cream all over the front of his pants. Jason looks up at Steve and balls his fists in anger. âWhat the fuck, Harrington?â
You quickly cover the little girlâs ears, though she giggles.
Steve shrugs as he looks at Jason. âSorry, man. Didnât see you there.â Then, he turns to you, and offers his own hand. âAnyways, I think itâs time for your daily free ice cream, angel.â
Jasonâs eyes narrow as you accept Steveâs hand and spare him an apologetic glance. Before you leave, you dig some cash out of your overalls and hand them to him. âFor your sisterâs new ice cream cone.â
He sighs and accepts the money. Jason knows that Steve is still holding your hand as he stands behind you, but he has nothing else to lose at this point. He takes a deep breath and shakes his head. âI didnât stand a chance, did I?â
Steve twirls you with your interlocked hands, causing you to giggle, and guides you to the ice cream counter. As he leaves, shouts behind him, âNot at all, buddy!â
You know you should feel bad, but Steve twirls you again and all you can do is giggle breathlessly as Jason Carver walks out of Scoops with his sister in tow.
â
Later that night the mall is busier than ever, and as youâre gossiping with Robin about Steve ruining Jasonâs pants, youâre interrupted by Mikeâs grubby little hand repeatedly hitting the bell.
Seems itâs time for their movie.
You flick the kidâs head, which Lucas, Max, and Will snicker at. âEnough!â
âOw, Y/N!â
âThanks,â Robin sends you an appreciative smile before she calls towards the backroom, âDingus, your children are here!â
Within seconds, Steve opens the sliding windows and sighs when he sees Mike and the party. âAgain? Seriously?â
âI warned you.â You say, shrugging at his annoyance. âLet the kids have some fun.â
Mike rings the bell again. âDo what Y/N says.â
Steve sighs in defeat and motions for the kids to follow him behind the counter. âFine, but only because Iâm nice, not because Y/N said so.â
âRight.â Everyone says, not at all believing him, which Steve chooses to ignore.
You all follow him through the back entrance of the mall. Checking to make sure the coast is clear, Steve waves the kids inside. âI swear, if anybody hears about thisââ
âWeâre dead.â The kids all respond, voices monotone with annoyance after hearing this threat a million times.
However, before they all leave, Will gently tugs at your hand to get your attention. âAre you coming with?â
You want to say yes, but then you catch Steveâs eyes and he silently pleads with you to stay, and you know you canât tell him no. Squeezing Willâs hand, you shake your head. âSorry, little bee. I promise I will next time, though.â
Mike scoffs in disgust, disappointed in you. Your relationship with Steve has always confused him, and youâve only gotten closer to the teen since Dustin left for camp. He pities what the boy will think when he comes back to his sister all lovey-dovey with an idiot like Steve Harrington.
Once the kids leave, you go back into Scoops with Steve and settle into your booth once more. Grabbing your comic, you flip to where you left off before looking up at the teen and saying, âyou have me for another hour. I canât be out late tonight, Dustin comes home tomorrow and I promised Mike Iâd be up at like seven to let everyone in.â
Steve salutes you and hops back behind his counter to help Robin with some customers. You smile at his antics and go back to reading. A few minutes pass, Spider-Man has just kissed MJ, before the lights above you start to flicker and then go out completely.
Everyone in the mall gasps and murmurs in a slight panic as theyâre thrown into darkness. The hair on your arms stands up; you no longer trust lights that flicker. Robin catches your eye and gives you an odd look when she sees the fear on your face.
âScared of the dark, Y/N?â She teases, not understanding what you really fear: what lies below Hawkins.
âThatâs weird,â Steve mumbles to himself as he goes over to the light switch. He starts to flip the switch repeatedly, and you roll your eyes at him. Heâs an idiot sometimes.
âThat isnât gonna work, dingus.â Robin says, looking over at you once more as if to silently ask, why are you attracted to him?
You shake your head at her as Steve continues to flip the switch, now only quickening his movements. He stares Robin down as if to challenge her. âOh, really?â
Nothing happens, because contrary to what Steve may believe, he canât fix what is likely (and what you hope) is simply a blackout from the summer heat. He flicks the lightswitch a few more times before the generators kick back on and Scoops Ahoy is once again lit up.
Steve raises his eyebrows at Robin and smirks at her, pleased. âSee? Let there be light.â
You drop your head to the table, now also questioning why youâre attracted to the guy.
However, when itâs time to head home and Steve walks with you to your bike outside, he kisses your cheek and wishes you a good night; you know that this is the reason youâve fallen for him: his kindness. With his kiss lingering on your cheek, you bike home.
â
When Steve gets back from saying goodbye to you, heâs met with a nosey Robin.
She stands against the counter with her arms crossed. There arenât any more customers in the shop, they closed about ten minutes ago, and Steve was really looking forward to driving home and taking off his stupid uniform.
Robin, however, clearly has other plans.
âWhat did I do now?â He asks her, not daring to take any step closer.
âWhy havenât you asked Y/N out yet?â Steveâs eyes widen at the question and Robin knows sheâs got him cornered. âIâve spent hours with you guys, and itâs driving me insane that you havenât manned up!â
ââManned upâ?â Steve sputters out, completely offended.
Robin throws her arms out in front of her. âYes! I mean, itâs so obvious that youâre in love with her and that sheâs in love with you. Just⊠Just get it over with!â
Blushing, Steve slumps against the wall and closes his eyes. As much as it pains him to admit it, he knows that Robin is right. âItâs⊠complicated.â
âWell, go on.â The girl now hops on the counter and sits on it. âExplain it to me, then.â
âY/N used to be in love withâŠâ Steve stops, unsure if youâd want him to be telling Robin this. âSomeone.â
She rolls her eyes. âEveryone knows she was in love with that Byers kid.â
âRight.â He clears his throat, uncomfortable with the reminder that at one point, everyone in Hawkins truly believed you were destined for Jonathan. âWell as Iâm sure you know⊠He got with Nancy, whoâuh, I had been with.â
âOkay, so what?â
âIââ Steve isnât sure what Robin doesnât understand. âI needed⊠time?â
Robin frowns. âAfter Nancy dumped you?â
âTechnically I dumped herââ
âWhat does this have to do with Y/N?â Robin presses.
Steve groans and rubs at his eyes. Heâs tired and wants to go home to call you and go to bed with your soft voice in his head. âY/N understood that the breakup with Nancy hurt, andâwell. She told me sheâd wait for me. I guess. While I figured my shit out.â
Robin thinks this over for a minute. âOkay, I think I can understand that, butâwait, when did this all happen again?â
â... December.â He closes his eyes, bracing himself for the girlâs inevitable anger.
âHarrington!â
There it is.
âI know, okay?â Steve tugs at his hair in frustration. âIâm over Nancy, Iâve been over her since at least April, but⊠But whatâwhat if Y/N has lost interest in me now? What ifâmaybe I made her wait too long, orâor what if she thinks sheâs just Nancyâs replacement?â
Steve is rambling now, months of his anxious and insecure thoughts now spilling out. âI mean, itâd kill me ifâif I ever made her feel second to anyone! Sheâs⊠Sheâs incredible andâGod, I donât even know why she likes me and Iâve spent this entire summer trying toâI donât know⊠Figure out how to confess my feelings to her in a way that matters, ya know? Like, a grand proposal to show her that Iâm crazy about her.â
Robin is silent for several minutes after Steveâs frantic spiel, heâs panting by the time heâs done. Then, finally, she says, âDude⊠Youâre way overthinking this.â
Steve winces. âI mean, her birthday is in a few days. I can⊠I can ask her to be my girlfriend then. Thatâs romantic, right?â
âYouâre hopeless.â
â
âDusty comes home today!â Your momâs shrill voice wakes you up as she prances around the house getting ready. You roll over in bed and stretch, tired but excited to see your brother again after a month of being apart.
You get out of bed and press a kiss to your motherâs cheek before telling her to drive safe. Glancing at the clock, you see that you have just enough time to shower before the party arrives. The entire thing had been Mikeâs plan and you were more than happy to help arrange everything.
After youâve gotten ready, you hear three swift knocks on your front door and you answer it. âRight on time, Wheeler.â
Mike salutes you as he and the others walk in. El gives you a hug and Max high fives you as the boys start setting up the robots. The six of you get started on the plan: place all the robots in Dustinâs room, all hidden in various corners, and then use Elâs powers to control them and guide him to the living room so that you all can surprise him.
Itâs a brilliant plan, one only a Wheeler could think of.
It takes you, Lucas, Mike, and Will to successfully hang up Dustinâs banner that took you all week to make. Thereâs cursing, yelling, a few trips, and multiple snickers from El and Max while the four of you struggle to hang the thing, but eventually you manage to secure the banner into place in the living room.
Just as youâve finished hanging it up, you hear your momâs car pull into the driveway and you quickly shove the kids into a closet. âQuick! Thatâs my momâs car, hide!â
Lucas yelps and Max punches his shoulder to shut him up, but thankfully you manage to close the closet door just in time before Dustin walks in. You hide behind the couch, quiet so as not to be seen by him, and carefully listen for his footsteps to retreat down the hall and into his room.
Once heâs gone, you scramble towards the closet and open the door. âOkay, heâs in his room, time for step two.â
âDid we all really have to hide in the closet?â Will asks, rubbing at his shoulder that had been shoved into a hanger.
âYes, now shush and hide behind the wall so he doesnât see you.â You order, and the kids all listen. Once youâre all pressed against the wall, you nod at El. âReady?â
âReady.â She responds, closing her eyes. Static fills the air and you hear one of the robots turn on in Dustinâs room. Then the other one turns on, then the monkey, and soon all the toys have been activated by Elâs powers.
Mike pokes his head around the corner. âOkay, now start leading the robots here.â
Blood slowly begins to drip from Elâs nose and you feel bad that sheâs doing this, but the kids all look excited, and youâd be lying if you said you werenât a little giddy yourself. The noise from the robots grows louder as El draws them out from the room and towards you guys.
You hear Dustinâs uncertain voice following behind them. âItâs just a dream⊠Youâre dreaming.â
Then Mike whispers to El, âNow!â
The robots all die in the center of your living room and slowly everyone starts to creep out from behind the wall. Lucas is holding his own poster he made and you hand everyone party noisemakers. Dustin is investigating the robots and doesnât hear you stalk up behind him. Max silently counts to three, and on her signal, you all blow your party noisemakers and surprise him.
Dustin screams and immediately holds up his Farrah Fawcett spray, blinding Lucas as he continuously sprays it. The poor boy screams as well and the rest of the kids back away, out of the line of fire. However, as soon as your momentary shock wears off, you manage to snatch the hairspray out of your brotherâs hand and save Lucas.
âWhy is Farrah Fawcett your weapon of choice?â You exclaim, shoving a still screaming Lucas towards your kitchen so that you flush the spray out of his eyes. Max joins, rubbing soothing circles into the boyâs back.
âWhy would you scare me like that after the hell we went through this year?â Dustin shouts back at you, clutching at his chest.
Dustinâs words make you stop for a moment and think. Huh. He has a point. âYeah, we shouldâve thought about that, honestly.â
âA little help here?â Lucas brings the attention back to him and you apologize, helping him once more to flush his eyes out. As you and Max tend to him, Dustin tells the others to follow him to his room so he can show them what he built at camp.
Max splashes some more water in Lucasâ eyes. âBetter?â
The boy stands up and wipes his face, though heâs careful not to touch his eyes. âStill stings.â
âI feel like I should call someoneâŠâ You mumble, Your first aid knowledge doesnât include Farrah Fawcett in the eyes.
Lucas blinks a few times and looks around. He leans in closer to Maxâs face and for a moment youâre scared heâll kiss her, but instead he chooses to be an idiot. âIs that a new zit?â
You wince and Maxâs eyes widen in disbelief. She looks at you and you both seem to come to the same agreement: grabbing the back of Lucasâ neck, the two of you shove his face back into the water. âWhat is wrong with you?â
Lucas screams again and you leave Max to deal with him, laughing to yourself as you go see whatever creation your brother has brought home. You love Lucas, you do, but you have no idea how Max puts up with his boyish antics.
Inside Dustinâs room, you find him and the others hunched over a collection of wires and metal pieces. You walk in and join them.
âI would like you to meet Cerebro.â Dustin presents his creation, but you honestly have no idea what itâs supposed to be.
You squint at it. âItâs⊠Pretty?â
âWhat exactly are we looking at here?â Mike asks, unimpressed.
âAn unassembled, one-of-a-kind, battery powered radio tower!â Dustin explains with a proud smile on his face.
A beat of silence passes before Will carefully asks, âSo⊠Itâs a ham radio?â
Dustinâs excitement only grows. âThe Cadillac of radios.â
âStill not understanding, buddy.â You now voice, usually always lost when it comes to the more AV stuff the party likes.
âThis baby carries a crystal-clear connection over vast differences.â Your brother clarifies for you, and you nod along. âIâm talking North Pole to South. I can talk to my girlfriend whenever and wherever I choose.â
You, Mike, El, and Will all look at each other in shock at the word that has just left Dustinâs mouth. âGirlfriend?â
Your brother nods, looking all smug, and you immediately berate him with a million questions. âWhatâs her name, where is she from, how long have you been dating. Tell me everything, now!â
âRelax, dear sister. Her name is Suzie, and Iâll explain in a second. We can even talk to her if you guys help me set Cerebro up on Weathertop hill.â
Youâre the first to start grabbing all the supplies, giddy and eager to hear more about your baby brotherâs girlfriend. Itâs almost too good to be true. Mike, Will, and El follow along and soon youâre all holding materials for Cerebro as you follow Dustin out of the house.
As you all leave, Mike starts asking questions again. âWait, so her name is Suzie?â
Dustin nods. âSuzie, with a âzâ. Sheâs from Utah.â
âPeople from Utah actually exist?â You ask, which the others laugh at.
âGirls go to science camp?â Will asks.
You give him a stern look. âAnyone can go to science camp, Will.â
âWhat Y/N said,â Dustin continues explaining his girlfriend. âAnd Suzie does, sheâs a genius.â
âIs she cute?â Mike canât believe what heâs hearing.
âThink Phoebe Cates, only better.â
You re-adjust one of the poles for Cerebro in your arms. âCan we focus on her being smart instead? I think she sounds lovely.â
From the kitchen, Max sees the four of you open the front door as she helps Lucas with his eyes. âWhatâs going on?â
âWeâre going to talk to Dustinâs girlfriend.â Will informs them.
Lucas whips his head up from the sink as he and Max exclaim, âGirlfriend?â
âI know, right?â You say, motioning them to follow.
â
âAlrighty, one scoop of chocolate. Thatâs a buck twenty-five.â Steve hands the ice cream cone to the girl heâs currently serving. Sheâs pretty enough, and when he notices her Purdue shirt, he canât help but say something about it. âOoh, Purdue! Fancy.â
The girl smiles and hands Steve her change. âYeah, Iâm excited.â
âYeah, you know⊠IâI considered it. Purdue.â He types the code into the register and places the change inside. âBut then I was like, you know what? I really think I need some real life experience, you know, before I hit college. See what itâs like.â
The girl and the friend sheâs with exchange weird glances, and Steve knows heâs rambling like an idiot. âUh, what I mean is⊠Youâre girls, right? How would the two of you like to be asked out by a guy?â
âIâm sorry?â Purdue girl asks, looking at her friend, creeped out.
The cash register begins to beep at him and Steve hits it a few times to shut it up. âSorry, uh⊠Anyways, say youâve seen this guy every day for like, months, and feelings are shared, you know, as they are. Then time passes and the guy never makes the move because heâs, well, heâs an idiotââ
âYeah, totally.â Purdue girl interrupts him and her friend giggles.
âExactly, so⊠This was, like, so fun. This little chat. Anyways, what do you think? How would you want the guy to ask you out?â Steve puts on his most charming smile, hoping that the girls will say that maybe he isnât crazy for waiting so long to ask you out. As he hands them their change, he drops part of it. âOh, sorry about that. UhâŠâ
âYeah, we wouldnât wanna be asked out.â Purdue girl says as her friend snorts.
âSure, but I mean, itâs complicated, you know? Andââ
Purdue girl interrupts him once more. âNo, Iâm sorry, but it sounds like you missed your chance and youâre like, really weird.â
âBut the guy isnât me!â Steve shouts as the two girls leave, only embarrassing himself even more. He sighs, closes his eyes, and wonders how he got here.
âAnd another one bites the dust.â Robin announces from behind him. He turns around and watches as she marks another tally underneath the you suck column of her whiteboard. Next to it is the column you rule, which currently has zero marks. âYou are oh-for-six, Popeye.â
Steve crosses his arms. âYeah, I can count.â
âYou know that means you suck and that Y/N isnât the problem here, you are, right?â
âYup, I can read, too.â Steve swallows down his annoyance, he knows heâs only done this to himself.
âSince when?â
âItâs this stupid hat,â Steve complains, as if this is the only appropriate answer. âIâm telling you, itâs making everyone think Iâm some pathetic guy who canât ask a girl out.â
Robin leans against the window. âYeah, company policy is the reason that youâre an idiot for not asking out Y/N.â She thinks for a moment and tries to offer the teen some advice. âYa know, itâs a crazy idea, but have you considered telling the truth?â
âWhat? That Iâm hopelessly in love with her? Sure, Iâm such a catch who couldnât even get into Tech and whose douchebag dad is trying to teach a lesson, now making three bucks an hour with no future.â Steve laughs at himself. âA catch who, by the way, couldâve been hers back in December had he not been a complete moron? What a great truth.â
Robin frowns, now feeling bad for making him feel this way. While she doesnât understand everything, she gets that Steve has had a difficult few months. Taking pity on him, she points out some girls approaching and tries to lighten his mood. âHey, twelve oâclock! Maybe theyâll see your side of things.â
Steve turns around and sees the girls as well. âShit, okay. Okay, I can do this! Iâm going in.â He quickly snatches the sailor hat from his head and tosses it to Robin. âScrew company policy, Iâm getting advice about Y/N one way or another.â
For a second, Robin has hope for him, but then he opens his Scoops Ahoy greeting way too loud and then immediately starts to ramble about you, and she sighs in defeat and marks another tally underneath the you suck column.
â
Hiking up a giant, grassy hill in ninety degree heat while hauling heavy equipment for a giant radio that your brother built to talk to his alleged long distance girlfriend definitely wasnât what you had in mind today. In fact, you mourn the fact that you arenât working today.
Youâre only here to hear about Dustinâs girlfriend, honestly.
âArenât we high enough?â Lucas pants, voicing what everyone else is thinking.
Dustin shakes his head. âCerebro works best at a hundred meters.â
âYou know, Iâm pretty sure people in Utah have telephones.â Max quips.
You wipe sweat from your brow and cringe, you feel disgusting. âMax, youâve always been so wise.â
âSuzieâs Mormon.â Says Dustin, and you almost trip over a rock.
âYouâre dating a Mormon?â
Lucas talks over you. âOh, shit. She doesnât have electricity?â
âOh, thatâs the Amish.â Max corrects him, and you get flashbacks to when you had to correct Steve about Nazis and Germans.
Will frowns at you. âWhat are Mormons?â
âScary peopleââ
Dustin interrupts you. âSuper religious white people. They have electricity and cars and stuff, but⊠Since Iâm not Mormon, her parents would never approve.â
âPlease donât become Mormon,â you beg, dripping even more sweat. âI need someone sane in our family.â
âI wonât,â Dustin reassures you, though he has a far off look in his eyes. âBut itâs all a bit Shakespearean, donât you think?â
âShakespearean?â Max laughs and you also canât help but giggle.
Dustin doesnât let your teasing deter him from reminiscing, though. âYeah, like Romeo and Juliet.â
âThey both die, Dustin.â Itâs important to you that he knows this.
âBut they were also star crossed lovers.â
âWho killed themselves.â
Below, Mike shouts to the rest of you, âHey, guys!â
You all turn and you frown when you see just how far he and El are, both of them empty handed and dry as a daisy in the summer heat. When Mike sees that he has all of your attention, he taps at his watch. âThis is fun and all, but, uhâŠâ
âI have to go home.â El announces, her arm intertwined through Mikeâs.
Dustin points towards the top of the hill no less than a few yards away. âWeâre almost there.â
âSorry, man. Curfew.â Mike shrugs, he isnât really sorry and you all know it. He then grabs Elâs hand and they descend down the hill, giggling and enamored with one another.
With a gleeful laugh, El says goodbye. âGood luck!â
Dustin looks down at his watch. âCurfew at four?â
Youâre startled by the time, having assumed it was at least closer to six. Hopper may be an overprotective grump of a man, but not even he is crazy enough to enact a curfew for El at four in the afternoon. âThat⊠Doesnât sound real.â
âTheyâre lying.â Lucas explains, frustrated.
âItâs been like this all summer.â Will says bitterly, something that you take note of.
Max nudges you with her shoulder. âI think itâs romantic.â
âItâs gross!â Will voices again.
You bite your lip. âI donât know, itâs your guysâ last summer before high school andâŠâ
âItâs bullshit.â Dustin finishes for you, hurt in his voice. âI just got home.â
You flick him. âLanguage! But⊠I agree.â
Dustin watches with annoyance as Mike and El walk down the hill hand in hand. While heâs incredibly hurt that theyâve ditched him after being gone for a month, he remembers what Steve has taught him. People can suck, but thereâs nothing he can do about it. âWell, their loss, right? Onwards and upwards, Suzie awaits!â
Max and Lucas groan at the idea of continuing the hike while you admire your brotherâs perseverance. Youâre proud of him for not letting Mike and El ruin his plans with the others. Heâs excited to be home, and youâre more than happy to go along with whatever schemes he has planned.
Youâre about to follow the others up the hill when you realize that Will hasnât joined. You turn around and see that he has his hand around the back of his neck as he stands there, frozen. Then, he turns and faces Hawkins, stumbling back a bit as he does so, and you watch with a frown on your face.
âHey, little bee, are you okay?â You gently place a hand on his shoulder, which seems to break him of whatever spell heâd been under.
âIâm fine,â he lies, and you donât at all believe him. Will looks uneasy, as if heâs just seen a ghost. A part of you begins to worry, but you donât push him. For all you know, it could be about Mike and his growing distance from the others.
âWell, câmon, then.â You grab Willâs hand and together you ascend the rest of the hill.
At the top, Dustin drops his bag and sighs. âMade it!â
âYeah, only took five hours,â Max pants out, stumbling the final few steps up the hill.
You collapse onto the ground and fight to catch your breath. âI run almost every morning. I think I lost a lung back there.â
âWhy couldnât we just play DnD?â Will collapses next to you.
Lucas grabs the flask of water, and as you struggle to get air into your lungs, you watch as he chugs the remaining water without a care in the world. Max watches as well, annoyed, and once again you pity Lucas. Heâs such a boy.
Building the radio takes longer than expected. After your short five minute break, Dustin puts you all to work. Thereâs a million pieces to the thing and your fingers ache from screwing bolts into slots and extending poles. The sun has begun to set when you finally push the giant radio into an upright position. Itâs easily fifteen feet high, and itâs an impressive sight that you canât deny.
âNot bad, Dustin.â You admit, walking around Cerebro in awe.
âReady to meet my love?â He asks everyone, and you all sit down next to him and eagerly await. Dustin switches the radio on. âSuzie, this is Dustin. Do you copy? Over.â
No one answers. All you hear is radio feedback.
Dustin scratches his nose nervously. âOne sec. Sheâs probably⊠Sheâs still there.â Again, no one answers, and he ducks his head down in embarrassment. âSuzie⊠This is Dustin, do you copy? Over.â
More radio static follows in the absence of Suzieâs response.
You wince, despite trying to appear supportive. You canât help it, this is embarrassing for your brother. While you donât doubt that he has a girlfriend, you admit that this doesnât look good for him. A long distance girlfriend who is hot and smart and magically needs a radio to communicate with? Unlikely.
âIâm sure sheâs there,â Dustin tries to explain to you guys, now even more embarrassed. âItâs dinner time, and sheâs busyâŠâ
âYeah, sure.â Lucas tries to be supportive and play along, which you appreciate him immensely for. Max nods as well, but Will just stands there silent.
âMaybe try again?â You encourage, trying to be nice.
Dustin nods and tries once more to contact Suzie, and it goes on like this for a while. He radios, no one answers, and eventually you and everyone else lay down in the grass as you wait for nothing.
Almost an hour passes and the crickets begin to chirp as the sun goes down and the moon comes up. Dustin is still trying to reach Suzie, but Max finally has enough. âDustin, come on! Sheâs not there.â
âSheâs there, alright? Sheâll pick up.â
âDustinâŠâ You sigh, unsure how to tell him that you also want to leave. You had plans with Steve tonight, he invited you over to watch a movie and you shouldâve left ten minutes ago.
Will lifts his head up from the grass. âMaybe Cerebro doesnât work.â
âOr maybe Suzie doesnât exist.â Lucas argues.
Dustin gasps. âShe exists!â
âSheâs a genius and sheâs hotter than Phoebe Cates? No girl is that perfect.â
You pinch the bridge of your nose at Lucasâ words and wait for Maxâs inevitable offense. He truly, deeply, is such a boy. As predicted, Max sits up and looks down at him with annoyance. âIs that so?â
Lucas shuffles up in panic, now realizing too late what heâs said. âI meanâyouâre perfect! I mean, like, perfectâin your own way, in your own, uh, special way!â
âLucas,â you hit his shoulder. âStop talking, dude.â
Max laughs, pleased with herself. âRelax, I was teasing. Iâm obviously perfect and Dustin is obviously lying.â
âOkay, no,â you now sit up. âHe isnât lying, itâs just a very unfortunate circumstance.â
Max doesnât listen and instead offers Lucas her hand to help him up so that they can leave. âCome on, Don Juan.â
âWhere are you going?â Dustin follows, not understanding yet whatâs happening.
âHome,â Max huffs, before remembering that youâre there, too. âBye, Y/N!â
âBye,â you wave at them weakly, knowing that this will only upset your brother further as she and Lucas slowly head home.
Dustin stands next to you now. âWell, guess itâs just us and Byers, Y/N,â
Will now stands up and awkwardly avoids your brotherâs gaze. âUm⊠Itâs late. Sorry. Maybe tomorrow we can play DnD, or something fun, like we used to?â
Dustin clenches his jaw. You know heâs close to tears, and it breaks your heart to watch. You stand up and rest your arm around him as he responds to Will. âYeah, sure.â
âWelcome home,â Will says sadly before he starts to walk down the hill as well.
You anxiously watch as he leaves. âBe careful, please!â
âI will!â He reassures you, knowing that youâre still terrified of losing him again.
As you watch Will, Dustin whispers to himself, âYeah, welcome home.â
His words break your heart even more. Forgetting about your anxiety over Will, you wrap both arms around your brother and hug him. He had been so excited earlier to be home and see all his friends after a month of being away. You understand that the kids are all growing up, but you had always hoped that theyâd grow together, not apart.
âYou still have all of July and August,â you try to comfort Dustin, desperately hoping that you arenât lying to both him and yourself. âIâm sure theyâll come around.â
Suddenly the radio attached to Cerebro switches on and Dustin pushes you off of him so that he can get to the radio in time. He stumbles over his feet and trips, and you watch with amusement and curiosity.
He manages to finally untangle himself from the radio and answers. âSuzie, Suzie, is that you?â
You sit down next to Dustin and lean in close to the radio, excited to finally meet your brotherâs girlfriend. Instead, you hear what sounds like a foreign language. Itâs distinct, slightly muffled, but you know what it is. âIs thatâŠâ
âRussian.â Dustin whispers.
Everything changes, then.
â
You force Dustin to go home immediately. He wants to stay, see if he can find any more hidden messages, but you refuse. Heâs elated, talking a mile a minute as you bike home, theorizing every possible answer as to why you heard Russian in Hawkins, Indiana.
âDustin!â You yell at him, terrified that someone could be listening. âNot here, okay?â
He deflates, but pedals home alongside you.
Youâre terrified as you bike home, a million thoughts are running through your head. You donât at all like what any of this could mean; youâve had enough sketchy government facilities and secret government agencies to last you a fucking lifetime.
When you get home, you order Dustin to go to bed.
âBut Y/N, weâve got to tell someone about thisââ
âTomorrow, okay? Just, please, Dustin.â Youâre exhausted and confused and overwhelmed.
Your brother senses that youâre at your limit and reluctantly backs down. âFine, but can we at least tell Steve tomorrow?â
Hearing Steveâs name puts something at ease within you. Tomorrow, youâll go to Scoops with Dustin and ask Steve what he thinks about all of this. Comforted by the fact that you now have a plan forming, you begin to calm down. âI promise weâll tell him tomorrow, okay?â
Dustin nods and heads to his room, wishing you a good night. When you hear his door click shut, you slowly head to your own room. Youâre terrified, and thereâs only one thing you want to do to lessen the fear that scratches at your throat. After crawling into bed, you call Steve.
He answers immediately. âY/N? Is everything okay?â
âIâm fine,â you breathe out, his voice like an exhale of a summerâs day. âI⊠Iâm sorry I missed our movie night.â
Steve laughs softly. âAngel, Iâm just happy youâre okay. I was getting worried there.â
You close your eyes. âItâs been a weird day.â
âDid something happen?â Steve senses that thereâs something you arenât telling him, which worries him.
âDustin⊠He may have found something, but I justâI donât want to talk about it just yet. I⊠I donât want to jinx it,â you squeeze your eyes tight and will away the fear you feel. âIâIâm just, Iâm so exhausted, you know?â
âY/N, are you in dangerââ
âNo,â you dispel any fear that Steve may feel. âI promise Iâm okay, I just really need to hear your voice right now, okay? Can you just talk to me, please?â
âOf course I can.â Steve agrees without any questions asked, and you love how he trusts you enough to do this.
Exhaling the remaining fear, you allow the warmth from Steve to hold you through the night. âThank you, honey.â
âAnytime, angel. You know that.â
And you do.
Steve begins telling you a story from today, how he dropped an ice cream cone on a toddler and enraged the mom, and you fall asleep that night to the sound of his voice over the phone.

âChristmas Giftâ
Summary: Simon Riley having a hard time wrapping your gift.
âââââââââ
Merry Christmas everyone!
Hereâs your guys gift for Christmas, love you all!â€ïžâŒïžđ
âââââââââ
Simon Riley sat in the dimly lit living room, the soft glow of the Christmas tree lights flickering in the corner, casting shadows that danced on the walls. The tree was something both of you had spent the last few days decorating together, carefully hanging ornaments and tinsel as if it were some kind of ritual. The moment had felt normalâlike two people just enjoying each otherâs company, despite the chaos of their usual lives.
But tonight, Simon wasnât thinking about the tree or the soft music playing in the background. He was focused on one thing⊠wrapping your gift.
It was a gift heâd spent weeks thinking about. A gift heâd known you wanted for ages. Heâd saved up for it, even though heâd never been one to splurge on things like that. But for you? There was nothing more important than seeing your face light up when you opened it.
Only problem? Simon had never been good at wrapping presents.
A crumpled roll of Christmas paper sat in front of him, a useless piece in his hands. He sighed, a low growl of frustration escaping as he glanced at the clock. Thirty minutes had passed, and every attempt looked worse than the last. The folds were creased in all the wrong places, the tape had stuck to his fingers more times than he could count, and ribbons seemed to multiply into an impossible knot.
Simon growled again as he cut another strip of paper, trying to maintain his focus. It wasnât about perfectionâit was about the thought. But damn, this was starting to feel like a battle he wasnât winning. His fingers fumbled with the ribbon again, the pink and red strands tangling like a stubborn knot. He could almost hear your voice in his head, teasing him gently about how âit wasnât about how it looked.â
Still, it bugged him.
With one final frustrated sigh, Simon dropped the box onto the floor, eyes narrowing at his handiwork. The gift was wrapped, sure, but it looked like it had been through a warzone. The paper was wrinkled in all the wrong places, the ribbons twisted in an embarrassing knot, and the tape was haphazardly applied, barely holding the mess together.
He leaned back in the chair and chuckled softly to himself. Yeah, this wasnât his finest moment. But it was done. Just as Simon wiped his hands on his pants, he heard the front door open with a soft creak.
âIm home!â Your voice rang out, full of warmth and love.
Simon sprang to his feet. His heart picked up a little, even though he knew the mess he had made. He jogged to the door, his usually stoic face softening as he reached out to take your bag, his hands lingering on you as he helped you slip out of your coat.
âWelcome home,â he murmured, pressing a kiss to the top of your head.
âHey, love.â you replied, your voice a little teasing as you leaned into the hug. You could already tell he was a little jitteryâhis usual stoic exterior slightly cracked.
Both of you walked to the living room, your eyes falling on the scene before you. Wrapping paper was scattered across the floor like a battlefield, pieces of tape stuck to the coffee table, and two used rolls of ribbon were carelessly thrown on the couch.
For a moment, you just stood there, crossing your arms as you surveyed the mess. You couldnât help but raise an eyebrow at the chaotic scene, your gaze shifting to Simon, who was standing sheepishly by the tree, scratching the back of his head.
âI triedâŠâ Simon mumbled, his voice low, the hint of a smile on his lips despite the mess. He looked like a giant German shepherd whoâd just gotten caught stealing a treatâembarrassed but trying to hide it behind that tough-guy front.
You chuckled softly, a smile tugging at the corners of your lips as you shook your head. âYouâve definitely tried⊠Simon.â
His broad shoulders slumped a little, but the smirk he gave you was nothing short of charming. âIm no expert at this kind of thing,â he admitted. âBut⊠its the thought that counts, right?â
You stepped forward, kneeling down to gently smooth out a wrinkle in the paper, your fingers grazing over the tape and ribbons. âIts cute, Simon. You know that, right?â
He snorted, rubbing the back of his neck. âCute? That thing looks like itâs been through alot.â
âMaybe, but itâs your work and I think its perfect,â you said softly, meeting his eyes.
A warmth spread through Simonâs chest at your words, his smile growing. Despite the mess heâd made, he felt a surge of pride. Not because of the wrapping, but because of what it meant: that he cared enough to try, to make this moment special for you. It was silly, maybe, but it felt important.
âAlright then,â Simon said, gesturing toward the mangled package under the tree. âYou gonna open it?â
You bent down to retrieve the gift, your smile widening when you saw the chaos wrapped inside. The box was heavy, the paper not even close to matching up with the shape, but you didnât care. You could already guess what it was, and your heart skipped a beat at the thought.
Sitting down beside him on the couch, you carefully peeled back the layers of paper, revealing the carefully chosen gift hidden beneath. It was the exact thing you had talked about months ago, something youâd only mentioned in passing but had always secretly wanted.
You froze for a moment, eyes wide. âSimonâŠâ
He watched you, his expression still guarded, but there was a softness in his eyes now. âIts what you wanted,â he said quietly, his voice uncharacteristically uncertain. âI remembered.â
Tears welled up in your eyesânot from sadness, but from the overwhelming sense of love that washed over you. You turned to look at him, the chaos of the wrapping forgotten as you pulled him into a tight hug, holding him close.
âThank you,â you whispered into his chest, feeling his arms wrap around you with warmth and strength. Simonâs arms tightened around you, his usual gruffness softening. âYouâre welcome,â he murmured, pressing a kiss to the top of your head. âMerry Christmas.â
And for a moment, with the chaotic mess of wrapping paper, tangled ribbons, and mismatched tape scattered around you both, it felt like everything was just perfect.

fic rec friday 20
hi!! welcome to fic rec friday. every week, i pick five fics i have bookmarked and rec them with a little review. check them out!
farm to table by @buoyantsaturn*
âThereâs another group of kids here,â she said, crossing her arms and raising an eyebrow. âSaid theyâre looking for the Ghost King.â
I FUCKING LOVE THIS SERIES. NO WORD OF A LIE IM OBSESSED. i got an ask a couple weeks ago on what i see will & nico doing in their futures and i havent answered it yet BUT this series in particular is never what i would have thought for them and yet it fully and completely convinced me. i love the way their relationship is portrayed here, i love the nuances about will's gender, i love them figuring adult demigodhood out! i love the solace family! this series is another one of those stories that i think back to when im writing bc it's so spectacularly done
2. hopeless case by @restinreesespieces
âNico,â Jason wheezes as he slams the door to the Hades cabin open. âNico, I think Iâm in love with my best friend.â âNo, really?â Nico drawls, barely looking up from his book. Or: in which nico is jasonâs wingman this time around.
i was sold on the 'jason is a disaster. nico is also a disaster but more subtle about it' like that SENT me đđ such an apt description of their friendship. and leo wearing crop tops bc there's less clothes to burn and jason losing his mind over it is so real and true
3. seize the day by @restinreesespieces
â-Hey, Jason? Are you okay?â âNo,â Jason snaps. âYouâre distracting me.â Silence. Leo comes forward. Jasonâs back digs into the wooden edge of the table. âIâm distracting you?â Leoâs hand twitches, like heâs not sure where to put it. It lingers in the air between them, making a choice. Instead of a friendly shoulder pat or slap on the back, Jasonâs fingers are met with the familiar warmth and completion of Leoâs. Their hands interlock, sliding into place as theyâve done so many times before under the cover of darkness. But this time thereâs light, and they canât escape the bright truth that it brings. âHow, exactly, am I distracting you?" or: valgrace dead poets society au (with a happy ending)
this fic was so FUN like jason in theatre....ur so absolutely right. loved loved this story it was such a delight to read like who cares about reality what if everyone is gay at whatever time period we wish forever
4. crush the size of jupiter by @restinreesespieces
âAw,â he joked. âAnd here I thought we had a connection.â âYeah, maybe thatâs because weâre tied at the ankle, Solace.â Or: In which Nico thinks he can ignore his budding feelings for a certain son of Apollo, and fate decides otherwise.
the flower symbolism had me GAAAAGGGGEED and nico going oh. oh, no had me CLUTCHING MY CHEST SHDNSJDNS. WHY IS HE SUCH A MESS
5. stars on my skin by @restinreesespieces
âWill,â he says, âI think youâre being silly.â âWhat?â Will tries to hide his confusion, and Nico rolls his eyes. âYouâre being silly,â he repeats. âI told you your bedside manner is okay. So why donât you believe it? Do you think Iâm a liar?â âNo! I just-â âHmph,â he huffs, pretending to be miffed. âI think youâre afraid of nothing. Nobodyâs gonna be mad if youâre a little enthusiastic about healing them. That means you want to save them! Thatâs what heroes do.â âIâm - Iâm a healer,â he says quietly. âYeah,â Nico replies. âIsnât that what I said?â or: after the quest group to rescue annabeth leaves camp, a ten-year-old nico winds up in the infirmary and meets will for the first time.

Even the Gods Cry For Us
A Viktorxfem!reader fic
Chapter Word Count: 7.4k
Epilogue
Tag list: @im-just-a-simp-le-whore @potatointhedirt @dedicated2viktor
"When the rest of the world won't have you, I will. Let your worries and insecurities die against my lips. Remember, you are welcome here. You are always, always welcome here." - Maxwell Diawuoh
Masterlist
âMommy,â the little girl said as her mother tucked her into bed. âCan you tell me the story of MilĂĄÄek and Viktor tonight?â
Her mother smiled, seating herself on the side of the girlâs bed, her fingers trailing across her daughterâs cheek. âOf course, sweetheart.âÂ
The girl leaned into her motherâs touch, and she began. âA long, long time ago, the goddess MilĂĄÄek was a mortal woman with extraordinary but uncontrollable magic. It is said that she came from another universe, and the strength of her love for Viktor drew her across space and time to be with him.âÂ
âHow did she love him if she didnât know him yet?â The little girl interrupted.Â
Her mother chuckled. âSome things are just meant to be.âÂ
When her daughter remained silent, she continued. âTheir love was a force that transcended words, pure and unbreakable. But as their love grew, Viktor got sick and his body began to weaken and wither away. Despite MilĂĄÄekâs ability to see the future and her powerful magic, she was unable to stop his decline. In a fit of desperation, they turned to dark forces to ensure he would live. It cost them the life of a dear friend and left them unprepared for an attack that would start a war between the upper and lower cities - nearly claiming MilĂĄÄekâs life. As she had been desperate to save him, so was he to save her. He brought her to a man renowned for his barbaric practices, and she lived at the cost of her sanity.â
âFleeing together, they carved out a home in the far reaches of the lower city. With Viktor's newfound powers, they found some semblance of happiness as he used his abilities to heal those who sought his help. But the high price of harnessing dark forces to keep Viktor alive began to take its toll. He became corrupted by their power and if left unchecked, would have brought about the destruction of the world in his relentless pursuit of perfection.â
âViktor had transformed into something unrecognizable; the Machine Herald. In this new form, he left MilĂĄÄek behind, consumed by his obsession with ridding the world of choice and eradicating emotion to achieve a false sense of peace. But MilĂĄÄek refused to give up on him. Though he was too far gone in this plane, she could absorb the arcane, and willingly gave up her life to save him in death.âÂ
âShe became the goddess of the afterlife,â the little girl said smugly, pleased that she knew that key fact.Â
âThat she did.â Her mother stroked her hair. âWith the arcane power that she absorbed, she was able to save Viktorâs soul and create an afterlife for all the other lost souls stuck in the nothingness that was death. One day, sheâll bring your soul to rest there as well.â
The girl frowned, disliking the idea of death at all, even if it was peaceful. âWhat about the bad people? When they die do they go there too?âÂ
Her mother nodded. âEven the bad people, everyone gets a chance to atone and rest, but only if they are willing.â
*~*~*
What had started as a small group had grown at an exponential rate. Souls started to gather at your sanctuary and you expanded, growing more land and homes for them to stay in. You felt their presence like a million pinpricks of light, each soul a unique constellation in your ever-expanding universe. Your consciousness stretched across the sanctuary, a vast network of awareness that allowed you to peer into every nook and cranny. You saw the newly arrived souls, wide-eyed and trembling, as they took their first steps into this strange new world. You heard the laughter of those who had found peace, their joy rippling through the air like a summer breeze.
But not all was serene. In the eastern quarter, a heated argument erupted between two souls over a trivial matter. You gently nudged their thoughts, soothing their anger and reminding them of the sanctuary's purpose. The conflict dissipated like morning mist under the sun.
At the borders, you sensed a dark, roiling presence - a soul so twisted by hatred and fear that it would poison everything around it. With a heavy heart, you reinforced the boundaries, denying it entry. Some souls were beyond your help, at least for now.
In the misty forests to the north, you felt a faint, confused energy. A lost soul, unable to find its way. You reached out, your essence forming a glowing path that only they could see, guiding them home.
Near the tranquil lake, an ancient soul flickered weakly, its sense of self barely a whisper. You enveloped it in warmth, offering a choice. The soul's relief was barefaced as it chose to let go, merging with the roots of an old willow tree. Its contentment hummed through the leaves, a soft lullaby for the younger souls nearby. There had been many souls whoâd met a similar fate, to old to remember who they were, more than happy to become one with nature, to find peace.
It was as easy to you as breathing, all tasks able to be accomplished simultaneously without conscious thought. It allowed you to stay you, to focus on those you cared for most - your main consciousness remained with your loved ones. You didn't perceive them as pinpricks of light or constellations like the other souls, but as the flesh-and-blood people you remembered.
âAh, Mila?â Vanderâs gruff voice spoke up from behind you. You turned to him, his brows furrowed and his lips set in a thin line. âDo you have a minute?âÂ
It was strange to see him like this after weeks of swimming through his emotions and knowing him as a half-beast half-man creature. He was soâŠnormal, in comparison.Â
You nodded once and turned back to Sky, your game of tik-tac-toe half-finished in the dirt. âIâll catch up with you later, okay?âÂ
Sky smiled at you, inclining her head. âYou know where to find me.âÂ
You followed Vander to the shade of a towering silver tree, its leaves shimmering like liquid moonlight in the gentle breeze. The bark was smooth and cool to the touch, almost metallic in texture. As you leaned against it, you felt a faint hum of energy coursing through the trunk.
Vander cleared his throat, his weathered hands fidgeting with the hem of his shirt. The movement was so uncharacteristic of the usually stoic man that it had you feeling wary. But you waited, giving him time to gather his thoughts.
âI have no right to ask you this after everything youâve done for us,â he started, his fists clenching at his sides, âbut I canât stop thinking about it.âÂ
âThis is about Silco, right?â Youâd been wondering when heâd come up, and youâd be lying if you said you hadnât thought about it too.
Vander nodded, jaw tight. âAs much as I hate what he did to Zaun andâŠmy daughters,â a sore spot for him, you could feel it rolling off him in waves of anger, âhe never gave up on our dream; independence for our home. And he raised Powder. While I disagree with his methods, he treated her like one of his own when I couldnât be there for her.âÂ
He exhaled sharply through his nose. âYouâve got enough on your plate and I donât want to add more, but heâs justâŠfloating out there. Knowing him heâs miserable and blaming himself for everything. We all made mistakes in the war with Piltover, and I blame myself for turning him away. Iâd like to right that wrong, if youâd allow it.âÂ
âYouâd like me to bring his soul here?âÂ
âI would be responsible for him,â Vander added, âlike I said, youâre busy enough.â
âWell, there are no weapons here, or Shimmer, and even if there were itâs not like he could kill anybody,â you said consideringly. âSure, why not? Iâll go find his soul and set you two up with a private space. Youâll be able to come and go as you please but he wonât until you feel heâs ready to be out among the rest of us. And if you need any help Iâm here, Iâm not as busy as I look.â
Vanderâs face softened, hope filling his eyes as the tension eased from his shoulders. âReally? Just like that?â
You grinned, wide and all-knowing, your hair floating around you. âIâve actually been thinking about it for a while. Everyone deserves a chance at redemption, if they want it. And I saw what he meant to you, how much your fight weighs on you. I want you to be able to rest knowing you did everything you could to reach him.âÂ
"Thank you," Vander said, his voice thick. "You don't know what this means to me."
You reached out, placing a hand on Vander's shoulder. For a fleeting second, you caught a glimpse of the tangled web of relationships that defined Vander's life - threads of gold linking him to his adopted children, a frayed but unbroken cord stretching towards Silco.
"I'll begin the search immediately," you assured him, and you werenât one to break a promise.
Despite initial doubts, Silco's progress surpassed all expectations. In what would have been a few months in Runeterra time, he ventured out amongst the other souls, closely monitored by Vander. Each small step taken settled a long-tormented piece of Vander's soul, bringing a sense of peace that he never would have rested otherwise.
*~*~*
âWho else is with MilĂĄÄek and Viktor?â The girl asked, though she already knew the answer. Whether she was delaying her bedtime or honestly interested in hearing the story remained to be seen.Â
Her mother would indulge her, for now. âThe friend they lost in their attempts to save Viktorâs life was a guiding force for MilĂĄÄek, and she joined them in the afterlife.â
*~*~*
You found Sky lounging by a pond, her toes dipping into the water that sparkled like liquid starlight. As you approached, she looked up with a smile that could outshine the sun.
"There you are! I was starting to think you'd forgotten about our rendezvous," Sky teased, patting the soft grass beside her.
You settled down, your legs tucked beneath you. "As if I could ever forget you," you replied, bumping her shoulder playfully.
The two of you sat in comfortable silence for a moment, watching as fish darted through the water, leaving trails of glowing bubbles behind them.
Sky leaned back on her elbows, her wild curls catching the light. "You know, I never thought the afterlife would be so...peaceful. I always imagined it'd be one big party, celebrate for eternity and all that."
You laughed. "Who says it can't be both?" With a wave of your hand, upbeat music began to play, seemingly emanating from nowhere and everywhere.
Sky's eyes widened in delight. "Show-off," she said, but her grin betrayed her amusement. She stood up, offering you her hand. "Care to dance, oh mighty goddess of the afterlife?"
You took her hand, allowing her to pull you to your feet. As you began to sway to the music, your feet barely touching the ground, you felt a surge of joy. It had been so long since you'd allowed yourself this simple pleasure, to just be in the moment with a friend.
"I missed this," you admitted. "I missed you."
Sky's grin softened. "I missed you too, Mila." She spun you around, your laughter mingling with the music. "But we're here now, together. And we've got all of eternity to catch up."
*~*~*
âThere was also their friend who died ending the war. He and Viktor had been in conflict in life, but in death, they mended those bridges.âÂ
*~*~*
Once Jayce had been ready, weeks after they had settled, heâd joined Viktor for what must have been days as they hashed out their issues. While you didnât listen in, you had an awareness of their conversation, there was only so much privacy you could give when their existence was tied to your consciousness. They spoke of the past, of the rift that had grown between them. Their words flowed like a stream, sometimes rushing and turbulent, other times slow and contemplative. All streams inevitably come to an end, and understanding bloomed between them like the wildflowers at their feet. You felt the shift in the air, the easing of tension, and you knew they would be alright.
Of course, Jayce jumped right back into being himself. As soon as he returned, arm slung around Viktorâs shoulders, heâd insisted you and Sky join them at a campfire. Though surprised that Viktor had agreed, you were remiss to miss an opportunity to spend time with your friends - like how it had been before everything went to shit.
You gathered around the crackling fire, its warm glow casting shifting shadows across your face. Jayce had insisted on building it himself, regaling you with tales of camping trips with his mother as he expertly stacked the logs. The flames licked at the evening sky, sending sparks spiralling upward to join the ever-present stars.
Viktor sat beside you, his legs stretched out before him. On your other side, Sky lounged on a bed of impossibly soft moss that seemed to have sprouted just for her comfort. Jayce stood nearby, proudly surveying his handiwork, before settling down to complete your circle.
"I must admit," Viktor said. "I never thought I'd find myself enjoying something asâŠprimitive as a campfire. The Undercity had garbage bin fires, but I would hardly count that as an enjoyable experience."
Jayce chuckled, reaching for a long stick to poke at the embers. "There's something primal about fire, something that speaks to the soul."
"Or maybe," Sky interjected with a mischievous grin, "you just like playing with sticks and pretending to be useful."
You laughed as Jayce feigned offence, clutching his chest dramatically. The banter flowed easily between them, years of tension and misunderstanding washed away by the healing waters of the afterlife.
As the night deepened, you found yourself leaning against Viktor, his arm draped comfortably around your waist. Sky regaled you with increasingly outlandish stories of her adventures in the sanctuary, each tale more impossible than the last - you would be sure to check on the cavern filled with massive bats, no good could come of that. Jayce, not to be outdone, countered with his own exaggerated exploits.
This was what you had fought for, what you had sacrificed everything to create - a place where souls could find rest, where old wounds could heal, and where love could flourish unbound by the constraints of mortality.
As if sensing your thoughts, Viktor squeezed your hip gently. You turned to meet his gaze, seeing in his eyes the same contentment that filled your heart. No words were needed; in that look, you shared a lifetime of understanding.
*~*~*
âAnd then there was MilĂĄÄekâs mother. Though her soul had been scattered to the far reaches of the universe when Viktor, in his conquest, burned her soul out of her body, MilĂĄÄek never stopped looking.â
âDid she find her mommy?â The girl asked, clutching her sheets tight to her chest. To be without her mother was simply unthinkable.Â
Her mother placed a tender kiss on her forehead. âShe did.â
*~*~*
Not everything was perfect, getting used to your abilities had taken time and had caused many a headache as you learned how to shut out the thoughts and feelings of thousands of souls. Viktor was still healing, he had good days where heâd spend time with Jayce as they worked on numerous projects for your corner of the afterlife, or hours spent laying in the grass together, peacefully watching the clouds go by. There were also bad days where heâd shut himself inside, be unable to look you in the eyes, become withdrawn. But you were there for him, and you gave him space when that was what he needed instead. It would take him time to heal and you were more than willing to give that to him.
As soon as youâd gotten a grasp on your new powers, youâd set out in search of the pieces of Charlotteâs soul. You searched tirelessly, but Charlotte's soul fragments eluded you, too small and scattered to pinpoint. As you probed the furthest reaches of your domain, you stumbled upon a flickering presence - a tiny soul, lost and alone.
You drew closer, your ethereal form coalescing around the frightened soul. It was a child - a little girl with large, curious eyes and messy brown hair. Her essence quivered like a candle flame in the wind. You enveloped her gently, whispering soothing thoughts as you guided her back to the heart of your sanctuary.
As you materialized before her, the girl's eyes widened in wonder. "Who are you?" she asked, her hands held close to her chest.
You knelt down to her height, smiling softly to reassure her you were a friend. "I am the guardian of this place," you replied. "A sanctuary for lost souls. But you may call me Mila. It's wonderful to finally meet you, Elowen."
"You know my name," she whispered, twirling a lock of hair around her finger. "Are youâŠare you an angel?"
You chuckled, shaking your head. "Not quite. But I'm here to help. IâmâŠfriends with your mother."
Elowen's gaze darted around, taking in the misty forests and glimmering lakes of your realm. "You know my mama? Where is she? I tried to find her but she was gone and I was all alone. Is she mad at me?"
"No,â you said with a gentle resolution, âshe is not mad at you. If she could be here she would, but thatâs what I need your help with. I'm searching for her, Elowen. Her soul has been scattered."
The girl's eyes lit up, hope blooming across her face like the first rays of dawn. "Really? I can help? How?"
"Your connection to your mother is strong. It's a beacon that can guide me to her. Will you let me use that bond?"
Elowen nodded eagerly, her small frame practically vibrating with excitement. "Yes! Please, I want to find Mama."
As you linked your consciousness to hers, you felt a surge of emotion - love, longing, and a fierce determination that belied her young age. Through her eyes, you caught glimpses of Charlotte - a warm smile, gentle hands braiding Elowen's hair, the sound of laughter and quiet humming echoing through a lamp-lit kitchen.
These memories were like breadcrumbs, leading you down a path you couldn't see before. You sensed the first fragile thread of Charlotte's soul, humming with a familiar energy.
"I can feel her," you murmured, your form pulsing with renewed purpose. "I'm going to find your mother, I can sense her now, thanks to you."
"I'm coming with you!" she declared, her small hands balling into fists at her sides.
You shook your head, your essence rippling with concern. "It's too dangerous, Elowen. The journey will take me to the farthest reaches of this realm and beyond. You need to stay here where it's safe."
Tears welled up in Elowen's eyes, her lower lip trembling. "But she's my mama! I want to help!"
Your heart ached at her distress, but you couldn't risk her safety. An idea sparked in your mind, and you gently took her hand. "Come with me. There's someone I'd like you to meet."
You guided Elowen through the sanctuary, the ground beneath your feet shifting and changing with each step. As you approached a sunlit clearing, you spotted who you were looking for.
Isha sat cross-legged in the grass, her hair adorned with small blue flowers. Before her, a makeshift arena of twigs and leaves housed two large beetles, their shells glinting in the soft light.
"Isha," you called to her. The girl looked up, breaking into a wide grin when she saw you. "This is Elowen. Would you mind if she joined you for a while?"
Elowen clung to your side, her earlier bravado fading in the face of meeting someone new. Isha, however, was undeterred. She waved enthusiastically, beckoning you closer.
You gently nudged the hesitant girl forward. "Isha, can you show Elowen your game while I'm gone?"
Isha nodded vigorously, her smile wide and welcoming. She jumped to her feet and extended her hand to Elowen.
Elowen glanced back at you uncertainly, but you gave her an encouraging nod. "Go on," you urged. "I'll be back before you know it."
Elowen hesitated for a moment longer before Isha darted forward, grasping her hand. She tugged Elowen towards the makeshift arena, already demonstrating the rules of her bug tournament.
As you watched Elowen's reluctance melt away, replaced by curiosity and the beginnings of a smile, you knew she was in good hands. With a final glance at the two girls, now huddled over the beetle arena, you had one more stop before you set off on your quest.
You found Viktor in a secluded glade, reclining against a gnarled oak tree with his eyes closed. You crept forward, barely disturbing the grass beneath you. With a mischievous grin, you prepared to materialize and surprise him.
But as you slipped into your corporeal form and reached for his shoulders, Viktor's eyes fluttered open. A small smile played at the corners of his mouth. "I knew you were there," he said, warm with affection.
You pouted, your planned surprise foiled. "How? I was being so sneaky."
Viktor chuckled, reaching up to cup your cheeks. "Your presence is unmistakable, milĂĄÄku. I could never miss it."
He pulled you closer, pressing a soft kiss to your lips. You melted into him, giggling against his mouth. You could kiss him a thousand times and never tire of it. But as you pulled away, the reminder of your impending journey settled over you like a heavy woollen cloak.
"I found Elowen, and I used her connection to her mother to feel Charlotte's soul," you said, watching him carefully for his reaction. "I'm going to find her, to bring her back."
Viktor's body tensed, his eyes clouding with a familiar guilt. You took his hand, squeezing it gently. "Come with me. This is your chance to make things right."
He hesitated, his gaze dropping to the ground. "IâŠI don't know if I can face her after what I did."
You held his chin in your fingers, lifting his face to meet your eyes. "Viktor, you've carried this burden for so long. Charlotte wouldn't want that. She'd want you to help her come home."
He took a shaky breath, squeezing your hand. "You're right," he said softly. "I owe it to her to try. To face the consequences of my actions."
"We'll do this together," you promised. "Every step of the way."
As you prepared to set off, Viktor's determination seemed to grow. He straightened his back, his chin lifting with resolve. You didnât necessarily need him to go with you, you would be fine on your own, but he needed it - needed to feel part of the solution so that his guilt would stop eating him alive.
You and Viktor set off on your journey, your bodies shifting to their ethereal forms. Viktor glowed with the light blue of your magic, and you grew until he became an orb in the palm of your hand. Your skin melded with the darkness of space, your hair becoming the stars themselves.
As you traversed the far corners of the celestial landscape, you encountered wonders beyond imagination. Nebulae bloomed like tropical flowers, their swirling gases glittering with hues of violet, emerald, and gold. You passed through the heart of a dying star, its final pulses of energy washing over you in waves of a bittersweet goodbye. Comets streaked by, leaving trails of fire that scorched your fingertips.
You followed the tenuous threads of Charlotte's soul, each fragment a faint beacon calling out across the vastness of space. You found the first nestled in the core of a nascent planet, reaching through rock and debris to pull the shard free.
âIt'sâŠbeautiful,â Viktor spoke for the first time since leaving the sanctuary, full of awe and reverence.
You nodded, carefully transferring the fragment to him. "Hold onto it for me. We'll need to gather them all."
Viktor's glowing form pulsed in surprise as the shard rested at his centre. "Are you positive I should be the one to carry them? I am the reason she is like this in the first place."
You pulled his form up to your lips, placing a light kiss against the glowing light of his soul. "I trust you, Viktor. Completely."
He didn't speak, but his grip on the soul shard tightened ever so slightly, a silent promise to guard it with his life.
You ventured on, collecting more fragments from the most unlikely of places. One shard spun within a storm of glittering sand, another floated in a pool on a desert planet.
Finally, after what felt like both an eternity and no time at all, you collected the final shard from the corona of a distant sun. As Viktor carefully added it to the collection he carried, the shards began to resonate, humming with renewed energy.
Exhausted but triumphant, you returned to the sanctuary, shrinking down to a more manageable size. Viktor's orb expanded, taking on his familiar shape once more. The shards of Charlotte's soul hovered between you, pulsing with a soft, iridescent light in the shaded glade.
With reverent care, you gathered the fragments in your hands. They felt warm, almost alive, as if they recognized your touch. You closed your eyes, focusing your energy on knitting the pieces back together. The shards trembled, edges reaching out tentatively towards one another like shy dancers at a ball.
But something was wrong. The fragments refused to fully merge, repelling each other at the last moment like misaligned magnets. You furrowed your brow, redoubling your efforts. Sweat beaded on your forehead as you poured more power into the process, willing the soul to become whole again.
The shards spun faster. For a heart-stopping moment, you thought you'd succeeded. But then, with a sound like shattering glass, they flew apart. You stumbled back, chest heaving, as the fragments settled into a loose orbit around you.
"Damn it," you grumbled, frustrated beyond measure. To have gotten her back at long last only to fail at the final stepâŠ
You tried again, and again, each attempt more forceful than the last. But no matter how much energy you expended, the result was always the same - a brief flicker of hope, followed by bitter disappointment that coated the back of your tongue like bile.
Viktor watched silently, his face twisted with concern. As you slumped to the ground after your latest failed attempt, he knelt beside you, placing a comforting hand on your shoulder.
"Perhaps," he said hesitantly, "there's something we're missing. A catalyst of sorts."
You looked up at him, curiosity piqued. "What do you mean?"
Viktor's brow furrowed in thought. "The soul fragments, they're like puzzle pieces without a picture to guide them. They've forgotten how they fit together." He paused, choosing his words carefully. "What if they need something to remind them of their true form? Something toâŠglue the broken pieces back together?"
You pondered his words, your mind racing through possibilities. "Elowen," you breathed, the realization striking you like a bolt of lightning. "Of course! Her daughter - the strongest connection to who Charlotte truly is."
You jumped to your feet. "Stay here with the soul fragments," you instructed Viktor. "I'll go get Elowen."
You found the girl where you'd left her, still playing with Isha by the beetle arena. Her laughter rang out across the clearing, a sound of pure, uncomplicated joy.
You called out to Elowen as you made your way over, your voice carrying on the light breeze. She looked up from the beetle arena and a smile spread across her face, brighter than the midday sun as she scrambled to her feet.
Isha's face fell, her lower lip jutting out in a pout. You knelt beside her. "Don't worry, Isha," you said as soft as dandelion fluff. "I promise I'll bring Elowen back soon. You two can finish your tournament then."
Isha perked up at your words, her smile returning. She nodded eagerly, already planning new games for when Elowen returned.
You turned to Elowen. "I found your mom," you said, watching as hope bloomed in her eyes. "But she needs your help to put her back together."
Confusion wrinkled Elowen's forehead, her head tilting to the side like a curious sparrow. "Put her back together?" she asked.
You nodded, offering her your hand. "It's a bit complicated, but I know you can do it. Are you ready to see her?"
Elowen's small hand slipped into yours, her grip firm and resolute. "I'm ready," she declared, chin lifted high.
You led her back through the sanctuary, the trees whispering secrets as you passed, their leaves rustling in a language only they understood. Your realm responded to you, an extension of your soul that had grown its consciousness.
As you approached the glade where Viktor waited, Elowen tensed beside you. Her eyes locked onto the unfamiliar figure, wariness replacing her earlier excitement.
"It's alright," you soothed, giving her hand a gentle squeeze. "This is Viktor. He's a friend who's been helping me find your mom."
Viktor stood frozen, his soul flickering with a storm of emotions only you could see. Guilt, hope, and fear swirled within him. His gaze locked onto Elowen, his past sins settling heavily upon his shoulders.
To Viktor, Elowen was a living reminder of what he had stolen - a child robbed of her mother because of his actions. The pain in his eyes was almost tangible, a counterpoint to the soft, pulsing light of Charlotte's soul fragments that spun beside him.
Elowen looked between you and Viktor as she tried to make sense of the stranger who youâd introduced as a friend. "Hello," she said cautiously, looking to you for approval. You smiled, nodding your encouragement.
Viktor swallowed hard and then inclined his head in greeting. "Hello, Elowen. Itâs a pleasure to meet you."
You guided Elowen closer, watching as her eyes widened in wonder at the sight of the glowing shards. But before you could explain what they were, Elowen gasped, her small hands reaching out towards the fragments. "Mama!" she cried, tears welling up in her eyes. The soul pieces pulsed brighter at her exclamation, as if responding to her cry.
Your heart clenched at the raw longing in Elowen's voice. You placed a gentle hand on her shoulder, drawing her attention. "Elowen," you said softly, "your mama needs your help. She needs to be reminded of who she is." You knelt beside her, your eyes level with hers. "Can you tell us stories about her? About the times you spent together? It will help bring her back."
Elowen nodded eagerly, wiping away her tears with the back of her hand. "Mama used to sing to me every night. Even when we couldnât make dinner, she'd hold me close and hum my favourite songs."
As she spoke, the shards pulsed brighter, their movements becoming more coordinated. You nodded encouragingly, and Elowen continued.
She told of Charlotte working long hours in the factories, coming home with hands stained black from machine oil but still finding the energy to play hide-and-seek in their tiny one-room apartment. Of weeds they kept in plant boxes on the window sill, the only things that would grow in the toxic air.
She recounted how Charlotte would skip meals, claiming she wasn't hungry so that Elowen could have a little more, even though Elowen knew better. How she'd fashion dolls out of scraps of fabric and buttons, bringing joy from cast-off remnants.
With each story, the soul fragments drew closer, their light growing more intense. Your magic guided them, urged them to form, but it was Elowen who sealed them together.
"And then," Elowen said, her eyes shining, "there was the day Mama found that old book of fairy tales. She'd read me a different story every night. She did all the voices, even the scary ones!"
At those words, the fragments suddenly rushed together, merging in a blinding flash of light. You shielded your eyes, heart pounding in your throat.
As the glow faded, you saw her - Charlotte - whole and radiant, her form shimmering into solidity, her arm returned, looking younger than youâd ever known her. Her auburn hair fell in waves to her shoulders, matching Elowenâs. Her eyes fluttered open, confusion giving way to wonder as she took in her surroundings.
Then her gaze fell on Elowen.
Charlotte's breath caught in her throat, her hands flying to her mouth. "Elowen?" she whispered, disbelief and hope warring in her voice. "My baby?"
Elowen let out a cry of pure joy, launching herself into her mother's arms. "Mama!"
Charlotte caught her daughter, wrapping her in a tight hug. Tears streamed down her face as she buried her nose into Elowen's hair, breathing in the scent of her child. "Oh, my sweet girl," she sobbed, rocking gently. "My precious, precious girl."
A lump formed in your throat as you witnessed the reunion, your eyes brimming with unshed tears. You stood behind Charlotte, your magic fading to simmer in the background.
Charlotte pulled back slightly, her hands cupping Elowen's face. "How is this possible?" she asked. "Youâre just the same as I remember, my love. How long has it been?"
Elowen pointed behind Charlotte and the older woman turned, her gaze falling on you. Your breath hitched, a tangle of emotions too complex to pull apart rendering you speechless. You opened your mouth, but no words came out - just a choked sob of relief.
"Oh, you wonderful, silly girl," Charlotte said, thick with gratitude. "Get over here."
She reached out, drawing you into the hug. You fell into it willingly as you joined the tangle of arms and tears. Charlotte's grip was strong, anchoring you as surely as it did Elowen.
"Thank you," Charlotte whispered, her words muffled against your shoulder. "Thank you for bringing my Elowen back to me. For bringing me back to her."
You couldn't speak, too overwhelmed for words. Instead, you poured your feelings into the hug, your essence wrapping around mother and daughter like a protective shield.
As you held each other, time seemed to lose all meaning. It could have been minutes or hours before Charlotte finally loosened her grip, pulling back just enough to look at you and Elowen properly. Her eyes shone with tears, but her smile was brilliant.
"Look at you," she said. "You've changed so much, my dear. You're radiant." Her fingers traced the starlight in your hair, sending tiny sparks dancing across your skin. "It's like you've become part of the universe itself."
You smiled, an ache blooming in your chest. "I've missed you so much, Charlotte," you whispered, unable to bring yourself to speak any louder.
Charlotte's eyes crinkled with understanding. "We have time now," she assured you, her hand squeezing yours gently as she gazed adoringly at the little girl still clinging to her chest. "All the time in the world."
A flicker of movement caught your eye, and you turned, searching for Viktor. But the spot where he had stood was empty. Your heart sank, a frown tugging at your lips. After everything, had he run away?
Charlotte followed your gaze, her eyes softening. "Ah," she said quietly. "He needs time, I think. This can't be easy for him."
You blinked in surprise, turning back to Charlotte. "You know?"
She nodded, a forlorn smile tugging at the corners of her mouth. "I remember bits and pieces. Enough to understand." She squeezed your hand again. "Tell him I'm here, when he's ready to talk. There's forgiveness to be found, if he's willing to seek it."
Relief washed over you. âThank you.â you smiled softly. "I will."
*~*~*
Her mother glanced at the clock, it was well after her daughter should have gone to sleep. But what was the harm in indulging her curiosity just this once? âDid you know that sheâs also the Goddess of Reunions?â
The little girl's eyes widened at this new piece of information. âShe is?â
âShe reunites souls after death whoâd known each other in life. Mothers and daughters, friends, sisters, everyone with a connection are guided to each other.â
*~*~*
You kept a watchful eye on the souls entering your realm, always alert for familiar presences. Time had continued, and you had no idea how long it had been since you lived, but when you felt a distinctive energy crackling at the edges of your consciousness - chaotic, vibrant, and unmistakably Jinx - you reached out, gently guiding her towards the sanctuary.
As Jinx materialized, you noticed the tension in her shoulders, and the wariness in her eyes. She scanned her surroundings, fingers twitching as if reaching for weapons that were no longer there.
"Welcome, Jinx," you said, shimmering into view before her. "You're safe here."
Jinx's gaze snapped to you, recognition dawning in her eyes. "Mila? That glowy lady who blew herself up for the metal fortune cookie?" Is that how people remembered you? "What is this place? Where's-"
But before she could finish her question, a blur of motion caught your attention. Isha came bounding across the meadow, her face alight with joy. She skidded to a stop in front of Jinx, her hands moving in a flurry of excited gestures.
Jinx's eyes widened, her lips parting in disbelief. For a moment, she stood frozen, her gaze locked onto Isha's beaming face. Then, with a choked sob, Jinx fell to her knees, her arms wrapping around Isha and pulling her in for a rib-cracking hug.
"You're here," Jinx whispered, her voice cracking. "You're really here."
Isha nodded vigorously, her small hands patting Jinx's back. You felt a surge of emotion from Jinx - a tidal wave of grief, guilt, and overwhelming relief that pulled at her heart like a fishing hook. Her body shook with silent sobs as she clung to Isha, her face buried in the girl's wild hair - twin braids and died blue.
You stood back, giving them space.
A deep voice called out from behind you, rich and thick as he swallowed his hope-tinged sorrow. "Powder."
Jinx stilled, her body going rigid. Slowly, she turned, her eyes locking onto the imposing figure of Vander as he approached. Time seemed to stand still as they regarded each other, years of pain and regret hanging heavy between them.
Then, with a choked sob, Jinx - arms still wrapped tight around Isha - launched herself against Vanderâs chest, crushing the little girl between them, though she didnât seem to mind. He caught her easily, enveloping her in a bear hug that lifted her off her feet. Jinx clung to him, her face buried in his chest as her shoulders shook with silent tears.
"I'm sorry," she cried, her voice muffled. "I'm so sorry."
Vander's large hand cradled the back of her head, his eyes glistening. "Shh, it's alright," he soothed. "You're home now, Powder. You're home."
*~*~*
The little girl yawned, her eyelids fluttering as she fought to stay awake. âShe has Viktor and all her friends, do you think sheâs happy now?âÂ
âYes,â her mother replied, a knowing smile on her lips. âI believe she is.â
Silence filled the small room, the nightlight casting stars on the ceiling. Just as her mother thought her asleep, shifting to stand, the girl asked one more question.
âDo goddesses sleep?â
Her mother paused, having been unprepared to provide that answer. âEveryone sleeps eventually,â she said. âEven curious little girls.â
The girl giggled, her mother placing one last kiss on her forehead before wishing her a goodnight, and departing from her room.
*~*~*
You stood atop a grassy hill, your hand clasped in Viktor's as you gazed out over the ever-expanding sanctuary. The sky above shimmered with countless stars, each one a soul finding peace in your realm.
"It's time, isn't it?" Viktor asked softly, his thumb tracing circles on the back of your hand.
You nodded, a lump forming in your throat. "Yes, I think it is."
For eons, you had watched over the souls in your care, guiding them, comforting them, reuniting them with loved ones. You had witnessed countless joys and sorrows, rebirths and un-deaths, forgiveness and redemption. Everyone else had become one with the land, only you and Viktor remained. Now, a bone-deep weariness had settled into your soul. The weight of eternity pressed down on you, and you knew in the depths of your soul, it was time to rest.
Viktor squeezed your hand, his eyes reflecting the starlight above. "One last day," he said, a small smile tugging at the corners of his mouth. "Let's make it count."
You spent the day wandering through your realm, revisiting all the places that held special meaning for you both. You walked beneath the cascading light of the Aurora Falls, your laughter echoing off the clear waters. You ate your favourite lunches in the Whispering Woods, where the trees sang ancient melodies as you passed.
As the day wore on, you found yourselves in the Meadow of Memories. Flowers of every colour stretched as far as the eye could see, each bloom holding the essence of a cherished moment. You and Viktor lay side by side in the soft grass, watching as the petals released glowing specks that danced on the breeze. Your sparks spun around them, carrying whispers of laughter, tears, and everything in between.
Viktor propped himself up on one elbow, his amber eyes searching yours. "Do you have any regrets?"
You reached up, cupping his cheek in your palm. How many times had he asked you this? And how many times had you given him the same answer?
"Not a single one."
As twilight fell, you followed a narrow path that wound its way to a cliff face at the very edge of your realm. You gazed out at the vast expanse of the universe, an empty sea where there had once been countless souls. Now, they were all housed within your sanctuary.
You turned to Viktor, drinking in the sight of him one last time - the angular lines of his jaw, the warmth in his amber eyes, the gentle smile that had never ceased to make your heart flutter through countless ages.
"Are you ready?" you asked, almost afraid, but with Viktor, that feeling washed away under his devotion.
Viktor nodded, pulling you close. "When Iâm with you? Always."
You leaned in, your lips meeting Viktor's in a kiss that felt both familiar and thrillingly new. His arms encircled you, pulling you flush against him as the kiss deepened. It was every moment of joy, every hardship overcome, every whispered promise and tender touch shared over endless lifetimes.
Viktor's hand cupped the back of your neck, his fingers tangling in your starlit hair. You felt the gentle scrape of his nails on your scalp, the warmth of his breath mingling with yours. Time seemed to slow, each second stretching into eternity as you lost yourself in the feeling of him.
Your bodies began to shimmer, intertwining like threads of starlight. The boundaries between you blurred, two souls merging into one radiant being.
Together, you stepped off the cliff's edge. But instead of falling, you floated, your combined energy spreading outward like ripples in a cosmic pond. Your consciousness expanded, suffusing every blade of grass, every drop of water, every piece of starlight in your sanctuary.
You became the whisper of wind, the crash of waves against the shores. You were the heat of the eternal sun and the cool glow of the ever-present moon. Every flower in the Meadow of Memories held a fragment of your shared love, every star in the sky a spark of your combined spirit.
As your energies settled into the fabric of the realm, you felt a profound sense of peace wash over you. The weight of godhood lifted, replaced by the simple joy of existence. You were everywhere and nowhere, eternally present yet finally at rest.
A small part of your consciousness lingered, a gentle guardian watching over the souls in your care. You felt their joys and sorrows, their triumphs and struggles, but no longer as separate entities. They were a part of you now, and you a part of them.
You and Viktor found your final peace, forever entwined in the sanctuary you had created. Your love story had become legend, whispered by the winds and sung by the stars, a tale of the power of forgiveness, redemption, and a love that transcended life, death, and eternity itself.
But most important of all, you were together, always and forever, and nothing could pull you apart.
A/N: Thank you for reading! I hope this answered any lingering questions <3
I debated with giving them a Janet and Jason (from the Good Place) ending, but that was too sad, even for me :')

Yandere gyutaro?
(KNY) YANDERE! GYUTARO x READER: General Headcannons
Thank you for ordering!
Come again soon!
âą Not good.. also the first mf i simped for in kny.
âą I headcannon Gyutaro as possessive, Clingy, Protective and sadistic.
âą Possessive in the way he gets insanely jealous of anyone else around you. You are his, He starts scratching his skin at the mere thought of you being with another. If he could stay within your body like Daki, He would.
âą Clingy in the way where he doesnât leave you be. Gyutaro loves physical contact, So he always has an arm or a hand on you somewhere. He also likes leaving scratches and bite marks, Tying into his possessive nature of claiming you as his.
âą Protective in the way that Gyutaro knows heâs ugly, Painfully aware of that fact. He has horrible self esteem and craves your praise. So if he canât be the partner with good looks, Heâll be the one that can protect you. His strength and his skill is what he uses to garner your attention, Doing any small task for you in order to get it.
âą And sadistic in the way that he loves to see you scared of him. While he loves your praise, He also loves your fear to reinforce that. It makes him giddy knowing you know heâs strong enough to kill you.
âą He likes scaring you time to time, But he doesnât want you to hate him. If you did then Gyutaro would start yelling and be fucking pissed. You canât hate him, He loves you so much! Heâs killed for you, Are you really going to hate him like this?!
âą I can see you meeting him going two ways.
âą The first is when youâre a Hashira sent into the red light on reports of demons. You arenât the strongest, But you arenât weak either since you behead Daki.
âą When Gyutaro appears to save the day, He somehow gets infatuated with you and decides to keep you alive. Only trapped within a section of the Oiran House bound and vulnerable.
âą The next is when you yourself is am Oiran. One whose beauty rivals Dakiâs and kind personality defeating her own by a longshot.
âą Daki for whatever reason is unable to take care of you herself, So she sends out her brother to do the job for her and wouldnât you know: Gyutaro becomes infatuated with you.
âą Im going for the latter.
âą So youâre an Oiran living in the red light district. You got sold off by your parents for a quick buck and a drink at the bar.
âą You donât mind it, Living in the house was much better than your homelife. Besides, You were pretty and talented with instruments. Not to mention everyone loved you for your generous and hard working personality.
âą With it, It didnât take long for you to become an Oiran either.
âą As your appearance and personality made waves in the red light district, Daki was bound to notice you sooner or later and feel threatened.
âą So she sends out her brother, Telling him about you and how horrible you are for stealing the spot of most beautiful Oiran and how it was rightfully hers.
âą Gyutaro of course, Takes this at face value. Even if he knows his sister is overreacting, He doesnât mind slaughtering some wealthy good-off Oiran. Heâll enjoy it.
âą So he makes his way over to the house youâre working at. He finds you quickly, Knowing the layout of the district like the back of his hand.
âą Youâre sitting in your room, Working on your makeup before the next client comes in. But you catch a glimpse of green in the corner of your mirror. Making you turn.
âą There is Gyutaro, Sitting within the shadows with his sickly orange eyes. Heâs ready to strike, The blood sickle in hand. Heâs ready to kill another one of the rich, The kind of person that would look down on him in the past
âą But before he can, He feels a warm pair of hands cup his cheeks. His eyes widen as he sees you smiling at him warmly.
âą You mistake him for your next customer, Welcoming him in with a bright smile as you pull him out from the shadows.
âą Gyutaro is stunned. Out of all the reactions he had expected. Fear, Terror and disgust. He didnât expect this, The feeling of warm palms cupping his cheeks.
âą Heâs speechless as you introduce yourself to him, Not even batting an eye at his horrid appearance. Not his greasy stringy hair, The dark splotches on his skin or his sagging skeletal appearance.
âą You astound him, Making the sickles in his hands drop to the ground and disappear.
âą You bring him forward, Sitting him down at the table in your room and start to pour him tea.
âą Gyutaro, Still in shock, Takes the tea as you ask what he wants from you today. The only thing he asks is why youâre not disgusted, A sour expression on his face now.
âą You tell him that you donât care about his appearance, Already familiar with the diseases in the District. You smile and tell him you like his eyes, Despite their sclera being a sickly orange hue.
âą If this was anyone else, He wouldâve torn you apart immediately for thinking you understood him or his situation.
âą But he canât help the blood rushing to his cheeks as you compliment him. Only itching and scratching at his skin to a normal degree.
âą You talk for what seems like hours. The tea you provided was so sweet, So he took more. You played your koto and engaged with him like he was an old friend. You even brushed your hand against his shoulder once!
âą He goes home empty handed that night. Daki is pissed as she expected him to bring your corpse home to eat. But Gyutaro shoves her off with a meaningless insult as he went to go hide in a dark corner of the Oiran house.
âą From that day, Heâs hooked.
âą Whenever you roam the streets, Gyutaro is sure to be stalking in the shadows. He climbs through your window at night, Perching over your bed to watch you sleep.
âą Of course, Being an Uppermoon means he has duties. Such as searching for the lily, Taking care of his sister and feeding. So that means he canât be with you all the time.
âą When he isnât, His thoughts run to you. Your face, Your smile, The praise you give him. Itâs addicting, He canât stop scratching his skin in a futile attempt to stop.
âą His mind also wanders to who youâre with. Other men? How dare they try and get close to you, Heâs seen how they try and get your attention. They disgust him, Believing them not worthy of your affections. He kills them when isolated.
âą But heâs not in love, No. In fact, He finds you the most repulsive of them all. So sickly sweet that it rots his yellowed teeth. He hates you, You disgust him, You do.
âą But he keeps coming back, For some reason too scared to approach you. That hate he holds for you, It dissolves over months, Transmuting into something more.. Obsessive.
âą His behaviour ramps up too.
âą Suddenly you find gifts of luxury at your doorstep. Golden hairpins, Beautifully woven kimonoâs and bottles of expensive wine. All with a letter of love laying atop the package.
âą It doesnât surprise you though, As an Oiran these love letters were not uncommon by any means. But the rich quality of the fabrics and jewels means that this one was extraordinarily reach, Meaning they might buy out your contract.
âą You donât know that it was Gyutaro who had thieved the gifts from the corpses of his victims. You donât notice how obsessive the letter was, Already desensitised to it.
âą As much as he wants to give it to you by hand, Heâs grown ashamed to his appearance when around you. Terrified of your praise and adulation, as he watches you open the wine from afar.
âą That's all he does, Admire. Only taking action when needed or his jealousy is acting up. Just sending you gifts as his form of communication.
âą Until someone buys your marriage contract.
âą Youâre delighted, A rich man has finally decided you to be his wife. While you will miss the girls in your house and the well meaning conversations you had with clients, Itâs nice to finally get out of this hell.
âą Gyutaro on the other hand is furious
âą His skin is littered in blood and scratched off skin. Daki cannot console him anymore as he starts yelling obscenities and hurling stuff around her bedroom.
âą How dare he?! How fucking dare he try to take whatâs his?! Worst of all heâs rich, Probably attractive too. Youâre so fucking perfect for each other, Arenât you?
âą Heâs envious, Truly envious. If he was prettier then maybe he would have a shot with you, Maybe he actually wouldâve talked to you again.
âą Even so youâre so unbelievably nice, The only person other than his sister to not blink twice at his appearance. You mistook it as normal even, You were just so.. Beautiful.
âą He wanted to kill him, He wanted to tear him apart for trying to take what he considers his property. You were the only person who could ever stand him.
âą You sit in your room, Doing your makeup before spotting a package resting on your windowsill.
âą By now youâve grown to enjoy them more, Expecting them every week with a smile. But now that youâre getting married, You have a suspicion that it might be your new husband.
âą But thatâs cut short once you find his severed head wrapped nicely inside.
âą You scream, Dropping the package to the ground in fear as tears spill out. You had only seen him once, But you could tell it was him from his bulged out eyes.
âą You try to run for the door, But before you can a flash of green enters your vision, Then nothing at all as you collapse unconscious.
âą Gyutaro picks up your fallen figure, Taking you into his arms with a lazy smile. He caresses your hair, Leaning down until his rough and rotten lips crash into yours, Desperate as he kisses you then takes you away.
âą You wake up later in the basement of the Kyogoku house. Youâre dizzy, Not knowing what's happening except for a large figure spooning you from behind.
âą You scream once more, Flailing about but unable to get up as the arms draping over you tighten. The face pressing into the crook of your neck pushes in further.
âą He tells you to be quiet, Not even struggling to keep you in place as he whispers disturbing compliments into your ear, Drawling as he pulls you even closer to him
âą As soon as you get a good look at his face, You scream. Not from his looks, But from the fact that you recognise him.
âą Itâs the man from a few months ago, The shy one, You never forget a customers face never less this one.
âą He looks more annoyed once you scream though. You were suppose to enjoy this, He rescued you from a life of servitude to some rich bastard. You were suppose to love him instantly, Just like how it was in his head.
âą His compliments turn into horrible threats. A hand wrapping over your mouth and your body held down in place as youâre threatened.
âą Youâre scared, Terrified for your life. Before Gyutaro finally explains why youâre here, How you wont be getting out and you now belong to him. You cry even harder
âą Thus starts the domestic stage
âą Gyutaro keeps you within the basement of the Kyogoku house. Donât try screaming because the walls are thick and even if someone heard you, Screaming is normal for the Red Light district. Besides, Your old house thinks you committed Ashinuke, No one will be searching.
âą He brings you food, Whatever he can get at first but if you ask him nice enough he might get you what you want.
âą Gyutaro doesnât know how to express his love verbally so he does it physically. Its mandatory for you to cuddle him for at least half an hour everyday. While this happens he gives you orders of what to do: Hug him tighter, Comb your fingers through his hair or even kiss him.
âą Youâre too scared to say no as he always threatens you if you hesitate.
âą He doesnât mean his words, As I said its hard to express himself with words. He loves you, He really does.
âą Is insanely jealous of anyone, So you have no company other than Daki who is the only person he trusts. Though you donât like Daki much, And she too.
âą If any person does get near you, Gyutaro wont even confront them. Theyâll be dead in seconds.
âą Also forces you to sleep in the same bed as him every night. Just as how you woke up here, Him clinging to you in some mockery of a lovers embrace while you just want to get out of here.
âą Some sweeter moments is when you do brush his hair or compliment him, Even if it is a way to soften him up for your escape. He blushes madly and looks away, Too embarrassed to do anything.
âą Gyutaro often will do what you want as he wants your praise more than anything. Heâll get you items in return for more of it, Heâll even let you see the night sky if you promise to kiss him when you do.
âą When he needs to go out on a mission, Heâll often leave Daki in charge of you which is unpleasant to say the least. If she is unavailable however, He will chain you up on a high wall and keep you there until heâs back. Doesnât matter if you scream, As long as youâre safe its fine.
âą He likes terrifying you too. Often waiting behind corners for you to walk by and for him to jump out at you. He enjoys your expressions, Your fear just meaning that you think heâs strong (-enough to kill you)
âą If you ever do get Stockholm then you will be treated SO much better.
âą Heâll let you come with him at night, Heâll even put the effort in to make it somewhat romantic with him buying (stealing) you flowers.
âą Your basement gets made better to your liking too. More pillows on your bed and maybe a lamp or two for better lighting. Whatever you want you get. Whatever it is he needs to feel that dopamine hit from your love.
âą He calms down with the insults, Becoming more vulnerable and showing his insecurities. Bonus points if you comfort him and tell him heâs beautiful, Heâll melt in your touch.
âą If you do ever escape then heâll go on an absolute rampage. Tearing up the entire red light district in order to find you. Heâs screaming, Hollering your name with obscenities following close behind. Heâs pissed, How could you do this to him?!
âą Daki will be assisting him in his search. While she and her brother fight, She doesnât want him to see him genuinely distressed as he breaks down sobbing at your loss. Her obi will be searching the pipelines, She has a hold everywhere, Sheâll find you.
âą I actually do think you have a chance to escape him. Only if however you make it out the red light district before he finds you. Its stated that neither he or Daki ever left, So if you get out then youâre home free.
âą If you donât however, Gyutaro will find you and drag you back by the hair screaming. He wonât hesitate to break your legs for this, He doesnât hesitate to beat your body till its bruised and bloody.
âą Afterwards, Heâll throw you down onto your bed half-conscious as he lies next to you. He holds you close, Your legs shattered as he tells you youâll never be beautiful again with all those injuries.
âą But thatâs fine, Gyutaro will love you anyways. Isn't that so generous of him, So kind? Why donât you tell him that, You should be thankful that heâs not as shallow as everyone else out there, So disgusting and vile. Here, How about you cuddle him to make up for it? Heâd like that.
âą Itâs not like itâll fool him anymore, But hey! What else can you really do?

HII (btw I really liked your last luffy x dom) could you write abt a touch starved luffy x dom male fluff. (Heâs so cute omg) Scenario: ever since you joined the crew as another swordsman youâve been interacting with the crew more and more, not realizing the little time spent with luffy. And with that luffy throws a cute tantrum and keeps you for himself (Iâm sorry this is so bad)
tysm anon i love luffy sm and always enjoy thinking abt how cute he is and i love ur scenario trust. hope u enjoy anon :)
"luffy that's what jealously is"
cw: teeth rotting fluff, jealous luffy, takes place right after ennies lobby so some spoilers?

after helping save robin from ennies lobby you were asked by luffy to join the straw hat pirates as a swordsman obviously you accepted. you took liking to the lively crew, having a celebration to welcome 2 new crew members, you noticed how your new captain, monkey .d luffy, would always try to stick to your side even dragging you away to sit on the head of the thousand sunny.
it was late afternoon the sun almost setting as you were chatting with zoro while shaprening your blade being careful not to grind too much down, looking up as robin walked up behind zoro leaning against the wall "i couldnt help but notice how attached luffy is to you [m/n]"teasing tone dripping from her words. slightly confused you raise an eyebrow looking at her "isnt he like this with everyone?" zoro uninterestingly adds on "mhm not really" as he continues striking his sword at the air. "speak of the devil" was the last thing you heard from robin before you got tackled to the ground face slamming into the wooden floor "[m/n] COME ON LETS GO STEAL FOOD FROM SANJI" voice a little strained from his arms wrapped around your neck trying to stay close, you croak out "n-not now training with zor-o LUFFY I CANT BREATH" luffy frowns a bit before getting off of you pouting and going to the head of the sunny sighing to get your attention
its been a few days of this as the crew starts getting worried about luffy
as you ignore him he sighs again but louder each time making you look at him before zoro nods his head at luffy silently telling you to go to him, its your turn to now sigh putting your sword back into its spot on your hip slowly walking to luffy leaning your back on the rail looking at his side profile.
not seeing how robin quietly tells everyone to move inside to give you just some space
luffy's eyebrows are scrunched up, bottom lip puffed out and holding his knees against his chest making a big effort not to look at you. you move closer to him tilting his hat backwards so it rests on his back "wanna tell me why youre acting like a big baby luffy?" you say with a small smile. luffy catches a glimpse of your smile trying not to smile back as he fidgets with the string around his neck attached to his hat "you keep hanging out with zoro and not me" he frowns more, his rubber face making him look even more sad as his mouth drooped. "we weren't hanging out luffy we were training its been a while since i could train with another swordsman...but if i didnt know any better i'd say youre just jealous...are you jealous luffy" climbing next to him on the ships head you face him smirking, eyes locked as luffy shakes his head proudly "nuh uhh im not jealous i just want you to be close to me more and i get this icky feeling when youre with someone else and youre laughing with them cause im supposed to make you laugh so hah im not jealous" he puffs his chest out crossing his arms to prove his point "luffy thats what jealously is...." tucking a strand of hair behind his ear "oh yeah...then yes im jealous" nodding your head smiling at him "then i'll make sure to spend more time with you. how does that sound?" luffys smile beams back onto his face as he stands up excitedly nodding his head not really understanding the concept of his crush on you but he knows you make him feel happy so he wants to be with you. interrupting your moment sanji's voice booms from the kitchen "DINNERS DONE NAMMIIII AND ROBBINN" followed by a loud bang and nami yelling "WE TOLD YOU TO KEEP QUIET DUMBASS YOU RUINED THE MOMENT" "sowwy nami" sanji lays on the floor with a swollen lip watching as luffy runs inside for the food his hand wrapped around yours
something most of the crew noticed is how he almost never stole your food from that night forward

I FINALLY finished the game and oh my god it's so fucking good PLEASE CHECK IT OUT.
Spoiler below:
My first door encounter was Sophie, which start my Sam journey as a single father. Since im not a huge horror game person (huge coward) i pretty much ran away from everything. Although that DID help me recruit Joel. Since i ran away from him the first time and made the fuzzy connection (read all item description. trust me, its worth it)
Didnt have any luck in the first 5 day on door encounter since i spent most of the time scavenging. But i did have 3 molotov cocktail tho. Beat the grinning beast that way. Leigh join the party on the third day i think?
After that i adopted the rat child on day 6 and muah, chef kiss. My son, My sam Jr. If anything bad happen to him i will kill myself (forshadowing is a literature devic-)
The wall, the wall stole my fucking hand, cant have shit in detroit canada
also, me being a huge dumbass didnt realized Leigh can equip weapon. I thought only Sam can equip stuff so for the next 2 days. Leigh just bitch slap everyone.
The horror experience kindaaaa losen after i realized that tho, jesus spear type weapon are insanity. The penetrate skill just destroyed everything. Nailed the rat king the same day that way. THE RAT CAN TALK????
Also Lyle, my beloved, my baby, one word
smash
i choose to ignore the stalking thing tho, would fucking hate him in real life.
Finish floor 1 on day 8. Got the disc. hate that it make me do math BUT that such a good use of in universe code tho. It does make sense that these astronomer nerd would come up with this type of code. But again, math :(
Fredrick, i love his story, i dont know if i made the right choice sparing that faceless thing tho. But I smell a twist from the very beginning so i do not believe the "normal" fred at all. I mean he witness the phenomena and youre telling me he doesnt change at all? Got the painting, love that have the player think about it tho. Having to check every painting and deduce what the correct colour is, is thrilling.
Imo, the ground floor is the weakest part of the game in term of horror, i mean yea the landlord thing is i guess kinda scary (rent) but the enemies drop so much stuff that it become more of a shopping center than a battle of attrition. Also broke my spade, fix it and Leigh immediately broke it again. Thank alot bus. The fingernail bomb is really good tho. But god it sound gross.
Mutt cafe thingy is really cute, i love them so much. I bought the coffee maker.....dont know how to use it tho.
Finished with the ground floor on day 9, meet Helen on the way and decided to drop sophie off. I mean running around the apocalypse with 3 child and a woman who might as well be another child is kinda concerning. Hellen, i welcome you to the life of a single father/mother.
Is it just me or does Edwin kinda ho- NEVERMIND WHAT THE FUCK NO NONONONONONONONONO FLESH ROOM RED NO NOPE NOPITY NOPE NOPE.
The basement, Ough the basement. First death, but god the horror is funnnnn. I hate dark spaces and the floating corspe so much, creep me the fuck out but in term of gameplay Muah chef kiss.
Meet the grandma in the basement, have soup :3
fuck Philipe, we are both moth whyyyyyyy brother, whyyyyyyy. Second death to the gaslighter.
Day 10 to 13 were spent just exploring the basement, took me a while because i want to stay back and do video gaming for more door encounter. Dan fucking jumpscare me tho, and the smiley thing.....why is it watching me sleep......third death because i want to see what happen if i walk into it. Meet the punk and the goth somewhere in between and THOSE BASTARD. THATS MY ROOM NOOOOOO.
Day 13, use an acid flask for the first time and.....yeaaaaa im just gonna stockpile them now, as a treat :3
day 14, save the janitor, save the bear that is stuck in the janitor closet, would. Finish up the rest of the offering also im so so sorry cinamon :(. o7
Day 15, forgot its the final day accidentally trigger the no turning back ending first, reload the save. Go to the roof. and oh ohhhhhh its its so pretty. I see it now. Its so beautiful I Iaonjfda ka vhkbdvahh hhhhhh hhhhhhhhhhhvdba va v adv dv aahhhhhhehhhhhlhhhphadf dfadfffffffffff

drop any madcom shipping thoughts you've been having. any ship. any way. multiple ships if you want. im giving you permission to ramble
oh man that's way too much power for one me
below the cut
2bmos
gotta start with my reason for breathing. Doc and Deimos have such a fun, interesting dynamic to me. I kind of wish I'd started Tear in My Heart a little further back in time instead of where I did because Doc really did consider Deimos his friend before things got complicated, and that's something I'd wanna explore eventually. the late night talks out on the balcony, the business trips Deimos would tag along on both as protection and just as company, every doctors appointment that Doc attended with Deimos to make him feel more comfortable because he knew these things stressed him out. the yearning. it wasn't love at first sight for Doc but when he did finally fall it was hard. sure, always found Deimos physically appealing, but it was the loyalty, the devotion, the resilience, the ferocity; it was watching Deimos laugh to the point of tears over something ridiculous and seeing him genuinely smile for what might've been the first time in his life. he loves Deimos as a friend, a partner, a favorite weapon, a head trophy, and a priceless possession
on Deimos's end, it's more complicated. difficult for him to put into words. Doc is master, first and foremost, regardless of the nature of their relationship. not to say that Deimos doesn't have his own opinions or blindly follows orders. he follows orders with eyes wide open knowing damn well whether it's morally correct or not, and he does it because Doc is his entire world from the moment he leaves the Agency. everyone else is either afraid of him, wants to fix him, or wants him dead, but not Doc. Doc trusts him as he is and welcomes him with open arms even when he's angry and hurting. it takes Deimos a long time to sort out his own feelings, at first only viewing Doc as another leader to follow, this one much kinder than the last. a source of comfort when he feels like he's going to break. a distraction from the rest of the world. a scapegoat for every evil he commits, because at the end of the day he's just following orders. he wants to think that Doc could love him but considers it just a fantasy until he sees Doc hurting in his absence. when it's Doc's turn to drop to his knees and weep at the sight of him, clinging to him in any way he can and telling him outright that he loves him
and all of this could've been made way easier if they weren't stupid and Doc went "hey, I like you like you and want to be more than friends" or if Deimos grew a spine and said "tell me what we are or I'm done here." but they don't do that because they suck
hankford
specifically gonna blab about my vampire/vampire hunter au because I've been meaning to do that. total canon overhaul where Sanford is a vampire hunter that's been following a trail of grisly murders for months now, tracking something more intelligent and ellusive than he ever has before. entire families slaughtered, throats torn out, bodies left completely unrecognizable
which leads to Hank, skipping from small town to small town out west where these things can be blamed on wild animal attacks, never sticking around long because they know they're being followed. they could kill Sanford pretty easily but know better than to attract the attention of other hunters, and somehow their kills getting more and more gruesome isn't shaking him off their tail. gonna save myself a little time and put screenshots from discord rambling
I swear I'm gonna write it at some point
but yeah throughout this whole ordeal Sanford is convinced he's under some sort of mind control/poison that's making him feel like this because there's just No Way he's hot and bothered for a vampire. but he is and Hank knows it
#okay that's a lot of rambling I'm gonna call it here or I'll never shut up#madness combat#madcom#hank j. wimbleton#sanford#deimos#2bdamned#2bmos#2bdei#docmos#hankford#headcanons#madness combat au#vampire au#asks

hihi! i noticed your inbox opened up again, and i dunno if it was a mistake, but if it was, then im super duper sorry!! i didn't mean to barge in! i didn't see the usual post about it being up so i really dunno if you're taking requests, so if this is a bit of a bad time, i apologize!!
but if it was completely on purpose, hi! it's me again, the silly little harmoknight anon that probably gives more info on this silly gamefreak game than the average person!! again, really hope this isn't a bad time or a mistake, i'd feel pretty stupid if so if it isntâŠi really hope you don't mind me requesting another character ahahah [even though you totally don't mind usually, but ahh!! the nervousness in my brain says otherwise] anyways!! i was thinking about this for a whileâŠmostly cause you were super quick on both lyra and ariana [lyra especially! i didn't think you'd be so quick considering i only suggested her a couple days ago!] anywhooâŠthis one might be a little tricky!! but if its alright, can I suggest master woodwin??? i feel like there's a lot [angst wise] that can be done, especially with the silly tempo witch involved! since he trains tempo a lot, it would kinda suck if the little guy he's been training to become a warrior of melodia to save the world becomes a being that causes more harm then good⊠thus causing him to succumb to despair and join along with his mentee⊠âŠyeah it's becoming more obvious that i had more ideas on how lyra and woodwin would witch out than tempo and ariana ahahah anyhoo!! completely understandable if you dont wanna do this since i practically barged in [again i really apologize if you weren't really taking requests!!] but if you do feel like doing this, i once more wish you luck!! [and good luck on that math stuff!! i would know, i dont really like doing math stuff either! its too complicated for me ahaha]
Hi there again! No worries, I left the inbox open on purpose. I figured since I already finished all inbox requests, Iâd open it back up for a couple of more.
I can see why you would think I left it open by mistake, usually I announce when I open up the inbox.
Why didnât I announce an opening for this one? Well thereâs a simple answer.
I fell asleep and forgot to announce the opening. đ
Donât worry about âbarging inâ as you put it, I also have very bad anxiety so I understand that gnawing feeling in the back of your mind thatâs saying; âyouâre going to upset them, quit bothering them, theyâre probably tired of hearing from you over and over againâ
And that thought process couldnât be further from the truth, I welcome regulars! I welcome everyone so long as theyâre civil and respectful. Youâve been nothing but respectful and are always welcomed here.

I like the idea of wholesome military Yuu. Probably accidentally makes people assume they're mean or scary but it's just a gym bro. During overblots they took everyone down so easily because of past trainings. Very cool scars they boast about but everyone looks at them horrified.
"Oh this from the time I got grazed with a bullet, very cool huh?"
"What.."
-also is it cool if I name myself đ° anon? I feel like I lurk around your ask inbox a lot, it's totally fine if I can't!
Please read all the dialouge in a fucking duke nukem voice.
This giant person approached Idia after they heard Idia mumbles self depreciating things abt himself himself under this breath. Idia is frozen and he hears boss music. "Hey man, stop putting yourself down, it's not cool. I know you can't see it but your character and strengths are pretty cool. I hope you can lean to see it in time." And refuses to walk off until Idia says something nice about himself, in which then Yuu daps him up and says "nice one dude"
"Hey man what are you? A dude, a girl a they?" "I don't have pronouns or gender. Those damn alien bastards stole them from me."
Ruggie being baffled at this mfer who makes bank back in their world be so frugal and down to earth. One day they say to Idia "you play retro games for nostalgia, i play retro games because i cannot afford new ones, we are not the same." And Ruggie tries to call them out.
"Actually I donate most of my millions to charities in need and enjoying sponsoring education for young children in less fortunate situations. Also, those damn alien bastards stole all of my newer consoles and deleted my save data."
They don't like Octavinelle. They're posers protecting a restaurant by Mediocre blackmail and threats of violence. "Booo where im from corporations make sure to stage your suicide by shooting you three times in the back of the head for speaking up about child labor"
They esp hate Azul. "Mindless corporations like yours forced me and my comrades across sea to commit atrocities on innocents and die over oil. You are not a cool dude, bro." Or just.
"You claim to know how to fight and use magic yet only fight against those who are weaker than you. This one is for my ignihyde friend that was bullied by you." And the trio just roll their eyes before getting steamrolled by this mfer in a real fight and almost end up in the ER. This is the same person who said "those damn shrimp bastards will pay for frying my rice and trying to break into the kitchen.
They advocate equal rights and just a good dude. Everytime they speak you hear a hard-core guitar riff. They are simultaneously the smartest yet stupidest person everyone knows. Everyone agrees that they're cool as hell tho. They hand Yuu a cold one and take off their glasses to wink, but underneath their glasses, they have another pair on.
They are just a walking shitpost
2) yeah i checked my blog and dont think I have cake (slice) anon??? Your cool, welcome aboard

Incoming ramble while stuck in bed drained lol
Words cant even describe how amazing the köln / cologne concert for the eurotour was for me.. ive been a fan of KÀÀrijĂ€ since his inital submission, so while not super long, something about his music reasonated with me. I was born in america and recently just moved to EU, and my music tastes ever since i was a kid has always been in different languages and genres, so seeing everyone from all cultures come together to sing another language entirely was amazing! đ„°
My day started off super shitty and time wasted but it ultimately buttfly effected because the uber driver parked right behind jere as he was getting to his bus at the venue, so i was able to say a super quick hi and give him one of my scuffed paper doodles, which was all i really wanted đ„ș
Everyone was so nice but i made friends with some joost fans and they made me feel so welcomed while waiting in line! I was worried i wasnt gonna get a good spot bc im short, but i was 2 rows behind barracade and got to see it perfectly for my height! â€
Hes so ethereal live, its kinda unreal. Like no wonder you guys wanna go to his shows many times, it really is crazy, it really is party. The way he moves is truly like mesmorizing sgdjshdj
When he asked where everyone was from, i was the only one able to say america and he looked at me and said "what da fuk" (if anyone has a recording of that, id love to save it đ„șđ) and that was like,,, so magical idk kicks my leggies!!
Like the night could not have gone better. Im sore, in pain, cheeks hurt from smiling so much. The fandoms amazing, yall are so nice, i loved his interaction with the person he called beautiful (who is the true new bolero wearer hehe)... the way he interacts with the crowd really is like... one of a kind. Hes so nice. Fandom is so nice. Thanks for letting me lurk and join in on the fun everyone has here. Thanks for letting me have a small moment like that at cologne. Thank you. Danke. Kiitos â€đ„ș

Without you (Delta Dawn x John Dory đ§Ąđ)

(ART/IG: @/ burntzbread) [note: hope you don't mind me using you art as reference, I'll take it down if you don't, it's sorta my inspiration while writing this TT]
(WARNING: English is not my first language)
The trolls in the Country Village, Lonesome Flats. Have known Mayor Delta and John Dory's relationship for a year now. No they weren't dating, they're just close, really close. But they can tell that they really like each other, it annoys them why neither one of them confesses yet.
Though not many country trolls really like John Dory. Cause first of all, he's a pop troll, some of his songs made them sick, he's too loud and even too touchy. Most of all, they worried that it might affect their beloved Mayor and Sheriff from his contagious pop troll nature, that'll affect their village as well.
So yeah, nobody really like nor accept John Dory living in Lonesome Flats... or so they thought.
One day, the rumour of John Dory leaving was spread throughout town. Some rejoices while some really misses him, since he has been a very kind and helpful pop troll to them.
Delta was aware that her friend was part of a band, which is his brothers. JD decided to pay his brothers for a visit, cause its almost been a year since the last time he saw them after saving Floyd. Which means that he has to leave from the country village for a week or 2, leaving everything behind here, that includes Delta.
"Are you gonna be okay while I'm gone?" The turquoise-haired troll asked and held her hand, while carrying both his belongings at his back and holding Rhonda's keys to his other palm. Worried about leaving her behind.
"Pfft! I'll be fine sweetie, you're being so dramatic. I'm a grown lady." The red haired lady scoffed. "You go spend time with your brother, you've already helped us long enough here. Go have a vacation to your real home, dear."
Even though she said that, JD knows that she's not gonna be. For the past few months he knew her. Delta may seem like she's a very tough fiesty mayor that kept everyone safe. He can tell that she's lonely, feeling the pressure of holding responsibility for everyone... much like himself for his family...
The man grabbed her warm hands, caressing in reassurance with an anxious expression on his face "Look, I promise... I'll visit as soon as I can to check on you and everyone... then, we'll go on a date! "
The lady snicker at his sudden silliness, breaking the heavy tension between them. As expected from him, he always know how to cheer her up... that's what she loves about him....
"Hah, darling, I've already taken care of this village for the past what? 10 years? I can handle your disappearance for another 2 weeks, maybe even a year. And for the last time! Im NOT going on a date with you! " She joked, giving him an evil smirk. Making him play along again, by acting like someone just stabbed his heart.
"Owww my lady that hurts." He giggled, making Delta's heart felt a little lighter from joy.
JD turned around, about to enter into Rhonda, but then she saw him turn around, hesitating to do something.Â
Before she could even respond, she was caught by surprise when JD charged at her with a smirk. He suddenly lifted her up with a hug... like, man! He's so strong! (Or did he secretly work out for this moment hehe) After a few moments of embracing her, he placed her down. But little did Delta know that's not his only surprising gesture. He rested his lips on her cheeks, embracing this moment he gets to have.
JD immediately run to Rhonda and shut the door before Delta could even hit him with her horse shoes. She blushed deep shades of red, very flustered of what he just did.
"Mr. JOHN DORY! Don't expect a warm welcome once you've come back! You're gonna be kissing my fist when you returned!" She yelled, actually out of embarrassment.
"Can't wait honey!" He winked, as he sped up Rhonda so she won't be able to chase him to the driver's seats windows.
And with that... JD just disappeared out of thin air. Like how it was before... it suddenly got... quiet . She thought, holding the light pressure of JD's lips on her cheek. With a sad expression that everyone in Lonesome Flats noticed... she was missing him already...
Delta turned around and saw that everyone staring at her, "What are you guys doing? Get back to work!"
She scolded, that everyone got scared and immediately mind their own business.
TIMESKIP
After JDs disappearance. The country trolls went on their usual routine. That includes Delta Dawn's job as Mayor and Sheriff.
Of course it wasn't the same without John Dory. Hanging around with the guys while playing pop-country songs together with their guitar and helping her around while also cracking jokes to make it more fun. She find it annoying back then, but she never would've thought she was starting to look for it. Now it was quiet, having lunch alone in her office.
When she came home, she saw Clamper looking a little down while doing her homework. It was an unusual sight, since whenever she came home she immediately runs to JD to get some upsies, while he plays along and playfully toss her to the air. Now she just gave her aunt a joyful smile and hug "Hey Aunt Delta, welcome home! "
"Hey my sweet baby, ya hungry?"
"Yes ma'am!" She exclaimed, wanting to light up the mood.
Days went on, work, stress here and there. The usual routine of going to work, checking up the town, and going home to take care of her niece, repeat for the past week. Then it gets more busy that the country trolls started to notice more changes from Delta ever since the blue haired pop troll disappeared.
Before he came to their lives, Delta was already doing just fine, being a workaholic, while singing songs in her free time about being "Born to Die" , her life feeling like a routine.
When that pop troll came, the women who seems to be nothing but work become more and more lively. They keep seeing her smile and even laugh, being more in the moment. That even her songs becomes a bit more lively. She's even more softer than her tough personality that everyone feared whenever she gets angry, VERY angry with her temper...
Which is actually... happening when he left. But worse.
"The Delta Dawn" before John Dory, was back . Not only was she back from being a workaholic, even her temper that everyone feared returned. Another few days has passed, especially when the Country Trolls became busy for an upcoming busy event, she's becoming more stressed and hot headed.
Everybody knows that Delta is just being leader, that she has to be tough for her people to listen, without any bad intention of hurting them. In fact everybody knows she's kind and sweet deep down. But her toughness can get scary that her workers won't be in peace when she is angry.
"Hey I told you to clean this area!"
"Why are the bathrooms sink not fixed yet?!"
"The thieves did what?! Where are they?!"
"I didn't waste the village's finances for it to be nothing! Where's the thing i asked for?!"
Eventually Delta realised her roughness towards her village for the past few days and apologises.
Though everyone was starting to worry about her, despite the fact she apologises. The red haired trolls aura is becoming more scary for them to approach their leader.
"Oh goodness! Our dear Sheriff has been so stress lately!" A villager spoke, trying to be quiet so she won't hear them.
"She really needs to rest. She's overexerting herself "
"I can't believe I'm saying this, where is that Pop dude she's always around with?!" A guy asked
"That weirdo? He came home to visit his bros to the pop village. "
"Well dangitty-doodly! We really need this dude back here if we don't want her to explode at us, especially on tomorrow's very special day!"
And with that, the country trolls are now starting to look for JD's presence. His their only hope for Delta to calm down.
The day came, everything is going really well with the event. The decorations are aesthetically decorated, music played softly and beautifully, couples dancing around , giving flowers here and there whether they're friends, family and lovers... Yes, it's Valentine's Day.
Everyone is having a great time, Delta? She is, she recieve flowers from Clampers and from her villagers, thanking her for all the hardwork she has done, which made her feel a little better.
She wasn't suppose to go out for Valentine's Day, she even made sure that everything's finish yesterday. The lights, the heart shape sweets, the roses and the music. Everything was done, even her own people doesn't mind her resting for this event. But as the Mayor, she was needed. She needs to do the speech of the opening event and gets called out whenever there's an emergency. Unfortunately for her, this year's Valentine's Day is torture for her.
TIMESKIP
It's late evening, the Sheriff finally lays down in her office's coach out of exhaustion. Finally gets to get away from all of those romantic couples cuddling in public and also some quarrelling between lovers or friends. It was very exhausting. Thankfully the day is finally over. Being Mayor and Sheriff is tiring, but it was all worth it to see everyone having a great time.
She sigh, decided to get up and grab some wine that she received. Enjoying the peace and breeze of the night, admiring the lights of her village. She felt a hint of sadness in her chest, as she grabbed some roses, loving the scent, absent-mindedly pluck each petals and let some fall from her window.
"Why do you have to leave? ... in such a very special day... John Dory..." She whispered. Finally admitting that she misses him. Secretly missing his company, his jokes, his romantic gestures, his cheesy romantic songs and even simply his comforting words whenever she felt the stress of being a leader.
Since when did she gets so attach to him? That life's never been the same without him.
"Why? Do you really wanted me to kiss your fist so badly?" She almost choke at the wine she drunk when she heard a very familiar voice that she haven't heard for 2 weeks.
He was not in her room, she looks around and then spotted a turquoise-haired troll at the side of her window, climbing at the walls with a wide teasing grin on his face that she knows too well. "Hey Ms. Mayor, looking like a hottie as always... Miss me?"
He flirted, internally laughing at her reaction. Though he can't help but lovingly admired her, even by just her presence. "But seriously Delta... you're looking beautiful as always... I miss you..."
She was stunned that she can't say anything but stare, when he finally came in through the window. The silence made John Dory a little scared. Is she mad that he returned late? Or from what he had done from the last time they saw each other?!
"Delta... I'm sorry, my brothers and I have a little bit of an issue back in Pop village and-"
He wasn't able to finish it, when he felt arms went around him, embracing him tightly. The red-haired troll hid her face through his chest, holding him close.
"I thought you weren't coming back..." She spoke up. John was stunned as realization hit him.
"What are you talking about? Of course I'm coming back, I promise didn't I? Not even in this special day... with my favorite lady here, I'm sorry im a bit late..." He was trying to get her to look up, but she doesn't want to, but just glued herself to his chest, refusing to show her face of which he understood.
Instead, he just caresses the locks of her and returned her embrace, staying quiet for a few minutes and enjoying the peaceful silence they have together.
When they finally let go, Delta immediately wipe her tears and started to act like she never cried at all. JD just pretended that he never saw her puffy eyes and just smiled, that he finally gets to see her again.
"Here... Happy Valentine's day."Â He grabbed a rose from the bouquet he was bringing, then pluck the stem along with its thorns, to place the lovely red rose to behind her ears. While giving her the rest of the bouquet.
With that, they enjoyed the rest of the evening catching up, as they stargaze and loving the view of the village. Drinking some wine and sweets, with romantic country music playing outside.
The Sheriff felt all the heaviness in her chest was lifted and was refreshed by the peace, simply by having his partner by her side.
Yes, this is got to be her most favorite Valentine's Day night...
BONUS: The next day? Yep! The country village was overjoyed of JDs return, dramatically begging him to not leave, and shockingly even ask him to marry the red-haired troll. Which leave the pop troll REALLY confused of their sudden clinginess.
"Umm did I miss something?..."

hi. i draw sfw, nonfetish mpreg. of simon petrikov. i dont take requests unless im particular to them + simon related. but im willing to discuss and answer questions you have abt the whole.. mpreg simon thing lol, and you're always welcome to suggest things you want to see pertaining to my content, just uh.. be patient, and be aware im only gonna post simon stuff lol. i dont do a/b/o either. my blog is very fluff + angst forewarning. i aint afraid to touch heavier topics but i try my best to tw them accordingly.
i have a group of running aus and sometimes my content isn't just mpreg. im extremely uncomfortable with proship. please dont be horny on my art, i will block you. other than that im pretty chill
my art tag is #i have a mproblem, i also have #golbaby and #golbaby +1000 if youre looking for the baby or them in 1000 years. #my style is for works in my non-at art style. au tags beneath the cut :)
MAIN TIMELINE AUS (morrigan is the child of GOLBetty and the Simon in the show)
#plainvanilla the default timeline. the au color is purple. #wizardbetty (petrigrof semi-fix it au where simon is brought back in time into an alternate universe where betty survived as a budding wizard in the nuclear fallout, where he has to navigate the apocalypse while pregnant. eventually, morrigan creates a portal back to ooo, and the two try their best to get back to normal life while raising golbaby and trying to relate to humans from a time that is not their own.) the au color is blue.
#spicywizardbetty (similar to wizardbetty but simon is brought to the present day in her au. betty has full MMS and thinks he is her universe's simon come back to be with her.) the au color is the same blue as wizardbetty's.
#replacement dad (morrigan kidnaps an ice king from another universe and uses their transmutation abilities to change the wiring to bring that simon back and change the crown's appearance enchantment to make him resemble their dad. this simon, referred to as Imon or Ice Simon, is kept in morri's pocket dimension while they "fix" him.) this au has no set color. #bad end. (au where morrigan is unable to break the seal placed on them and is born 6 months after their due date; exhausted from trying to break the seal for so long, they drain the life of everything around them and it ends up killing everyone in the candy kingdom. marcy is a chaos creature now and pb is a monstrosity akin to the mother gum) this one is super angsty! the au color is grey. #forever seal (au where the seal placed on morrigan is extremely powerful and meant to be permanent, or at least until pb can figure out how to neutralize golbaby's powers; simon runs off shortly afterwards and is desperately seeking some way to break the seal on his baby. a wanted man, he travels ruins and hunts for artifacts and researches spells, while trying not to garner any attention from the townsfolk he lives with.) the au color is dark green.
#creaturewizards (arguably the most canon divergent, where wizards are all different kinds of mythical creatures. simon was turned into a sphinx and retains the species after being digested by GOLB, where betty becomes a harpy before becoming GOLBETTY. when she impregnates simon, he is expecting a whole litter instead of just morrigan.) the au color is brown.
MAJOR AUS (these universes do not feature morrigan as a golbaby, and the simons, betties, etc are different)
#candyworld (au where simon and betty are recreated as candy people, with betty being the candy elemental in pb's place. eventually she gains proper sentience with no candy person dumb dumb and overthrows pb, becoming the incredibly territorial candy witch.) the au color is pink.
#vamparents (au where simon and betty are vampires in the vampire king's inner circle, known as THE HANGED MAN and THE WORLD separately, and THE LOVERS together. betty was ambushed by a vampire before the mushroom war and was turned, before biting simon to save him from death by radiation poisoning.) the au color is maroon.
#lichtrikov (au where the host body The Lich chooses is the corpse of Simon Petrikov, unwittingly incurring GOLBetty's wrath. there is an alternate timeline of this where she impregnates him with a child meant to punish him forever by rendering him useless.) the au color is green.
#magic morri (au where magic betty and ice king stay together and have morri, who is then taken and raised by pb and marcy) the au color is teal. #dreamtime au (very tiny au following a dream i had once where magic betty turned ice king back into simon successfully after learning he was pregnant. ice king's personality is not entirely gone.) the au color is very loosely dark blue, but doesn't have a set color either.

thinking about riduur!dinâŠ
din is big into touch, even in public.
heâs always within an arm's reach when youâre out and about. Some of that is due to his overwhelming sense of protectiveness when it comes to you, but another aspect of it is because he loves it when people see him with you.
you were always so kind to the residents of Nevarro, always going out of your way to help others, and din loved that about you. having people know that he was yours and you were his was an honor to him. he took pride in being your riduur.Â
while din was away on hunts off-world, you remain within the home youâve made together.Â
you used to join him while you two were just friends. his adventures became a team effort.
now as youâve grown physically and mentally, you remain at home on Nevarro. his name has gained more traction within the galaxy, which meant more enemies looking for him, or even worse, you.Â
you donât mind staying back, but you worry, of course. you know he can handle himself, but thereâs always that inkling feeling when he exceeds the days he said the job would take.
learning mandoâa and learning about his creed
even before you were wed, you dabbled in learning a bit of mandoâa; wanting to connect with din on another level.Â
along with the language, learning about the history of his creed and the culture was extremely important to you.
it made dinâs heart soften everytime you asked him to talk more about the creed.
din without his helmet
the first time he removed his helmet in front of you, it was before he was allowed to.Â
when you two would go out on hunts together, din found himself face to face with his biggest fear, losing you.Â
while exploring a cave in search of your next bounty, you fell into a deep body of water, your weapons weighing you down and pulling you further. din had no choice but to jump in after you, his own swimming skills barely strong enough to save you. reaching the surface, he ripped off his helmet to give you mouth to mouth, his creed being the last thing on his mind. he just needed to see your eyes open. you choked out the water that was residing in your lungs before looking up at din. you pushed yourself away from him, confused. you didnât know who this man was until he said, âcyarâika, itâs me.â
his voice made you pause, no way, you immediately shut your eyes, and covered them with your hand for extra precaution, âi didnât see anything! i swear!â
you felt a hand reach for your wrist, pulling it down, âi know, i knowâŠitâs alright (Y/N).â
you peered into his soft brown eyes, then trailed down to the arch of his nose, and finally came to his parted lips. the refraction of light from the water that almost killed you displayed a beautiful array of light onto his face, oh his face.
you couldnât stop staring at him, and that scared him, until you asked, âcan i kiss you, din?â
as he pulled you in, you realize that he was it for you.Â
--author's note: something sweet for you on this november night...also, how are we liking this format??? i think it's cute, but im biased because i. made. it.
