Ok hang on. Everyones going crazy with this move. Any changes will probs be negligible. CW doesnt have some team of writers with quotas to fulfill. Every show has their own production and team behind it. Obvi some exec crossover with the arrowverse, but point stands that each show has made their own choices/mistakes/whatever anyones opinion of them is. Unless GJ leaves I dont see any major story style changes (any changes to staff writers is normal, they can come and go between seasons). 1/5

As far as budget/aesthetic goes it’s not like stargirl (or any other show) uses cameras/lights that are any different or more $$$ than “CW shows”. Everyone rents the same type of expensive ass cameras (arri alexas, red 1s, etc etc). It’s how they’re used by the DOPs and directors—a specific “look” that’s designed and agreed upon—and then how they’re cut in post. Those ppl are not going anywhere (and tbh there are already some that have worked on stargirl that also worked on cw shows before). 2/5

Costumes! Are already made so there should be no worry about that (and imo there have been better “cw” costumes than wildcats cheekbone mask and beths potato sack for example—stargirl and hourmans are great tho). Location/sets is also a funny one bc first of all sg shoots in ATL. A very tax friendly place to film and where a few other cw shows already film as well. And I’m pretty sure stargirl has even reused some old sets from when vampire diaries filmed there (not 100% on that tidbit tho). 3/5

The only thing I see being affected are CGI and possibly cast. And cgi is more of a time issue than just budget. Other CW shows have had super tight shooting to air schedules which gives post less time to work. Plus if theres more episodes, also less time (but there are cw shows with ~15 eps so I don’t see that changing either!). Cast would be the two big names in Courts parents. But even then I think itll be ok. We arent privy to those negotiations but looking at supergirl for example. 4/5

it wasnt just money (tho im sure it was a contributing factor), but also location. LA to VAN is huge, pretty sure flockhart didnt wanna move her whole family. Anyways im so sorry for this rant but ive seen all this negativity and tons of misinformation floating around all over the internet and it just kills me. We all need to take a breath. s2 is great news! I get if ppl have concerns/reservations, or even if theyre done and wanna jump ship. But in all likelihood, everything will be fine. 5/5

please please please look critically at cw works and how the cw mistreats source material and uses shows as cash grabs. stargirl was created for dcu exclusive, not for wider viewing, and it SHOWS. stargirl wasn’t meant to be tied to some wider cw diet coke dc universe. and the changes that will come WILL impact the show and i’m not expecting them to be good changes.

fuck it! some thoughts on al’s years in xing. if you guys have thoughts or criticisms let me know! i just wanna ramble lmao.

also don’t reblog lmao bc theres a lot of errors in here and its all sporadic and frankly embarrassing

okay so first things first i think in the two year gap between the promised day and the post canon adventures the brothers keep up a correspondence with ling and mei through letters (bc theyre planning this big adventure and its wild that they would show up unannounced even tho i know thats theyre style but als like. mmm dont want lan fan to execute me on sight)

side note! i think of xing as a relatively isolationist country, but with a phone and railway system that operates within itself, not on the outside (its a big country! people need to communicate!) ling is not against isolationism per say, only because drachma and amestris are still very much Major War Torn disasters, however ling puts a big emphasis on assisting refugees and families displaced by war. he also holds relatively frequent council with their bordering countries* *more on this later. but i dont see xing moving away from isolationism until ling is MUCH older. and even then most of their opening up mostly revolves around trade and world aid. 

ed sort of bangs his adventure out west in like a year and a half, because hes kinda. rarin to get back to rush valley and marry winry. al spends about three and a half years in xing bc he has to learn the language AND a brand new form of alchemic science. (with visits back to amestris for. weddings, occasional holidays and meeting his nephew and niece)

when al gets to xing the first thing he notices are 1) the food is incredible (though some of it is spicer than hed realize and amestrian food is blander than he thought)  2) the art and architecture is amazing and beautiful 3) he’s never worn silk before and he privately amends to never make that mistake again 4) ling has two modes Emperor mode and Ling mode (al has been on the receiving end of both 5) lan fan seems much happier 6) mei got taller

side note yes ed and winry have the emperor of xing and his sister, the princess and imperial alkahestrist at their wedding. no no one knows how the fuck to deal with it jfhgkjfdhjk

ling, in order to establish security for clans with less power appoints one family member from each clan to his court. hence why mei becomes imperial alkahestrist at 16. this ruffles a lot of feathers, and lings happy for it. 

in general one of lings biggest projects in his time as emperor is helping the poor and disenfranchised of xing. he has the aristocracy pretty much on its knees all the time. 

al spent so much time in the two years preparing for his trip studying up on xingese culture, tradition, and especially xingese aristocracy because he didnt want to offend an entire culture (he leaves that to ed) only for mei and ling to horrify the entire court by yanking al into a very tight HUG 

ling continues to horrify the court by asking al for advice and counsel in front of everyone lmao

lan fan has other family members! not just fu! she has a whole mom and two younger sisters. lan fan remains ling’s personal gaurd until she turns 20, and then she appointed captain of the guard. she really loves her job and honestly being home has made her 1000% more outgoing and confident (not when shes guarding tho obviously) 

lan fan’s family has their own suite in the palace, for being the yao’s families faithful servants. however once lan fan becomes captain of the guard she insists on sleeping in the barracks (this annoys ling greatly. though he doesn’t say anything)

mei is an INTENSE teacher. not so much izumi level bet she has al wake up at 6 am every day and run arrays for her until shes decided shes satisfied. al does not mind this, he likes watching the sun rise 

al takes awhile to learn xingese. and once he’s finally mastered it he’s better at speaking it than writing it (his script is basically chicken scratch) this sort of impedes his alkahestry lessons too because of a lot of the tomes and books on it are in xingese. a lot of al’s lessons are spent doing translations

jerso and zampano, somehow, pick up xingese stupid fast. al is furious lmao. 

winry and ed and their children (lil 1yr boy sig and actual baby baby girl nina) come out to visit at behest of ling. xing had no established automail program, just a few engineers here and there, so winry worked with him to train a few automail engineers. this becomes one of the only forms of trade that xing has with neighboring countries. an automail material trade agreement was presented by general mustang and signed off by emperor ling and furher grumman. (an eventually, would become a regular commodity of amestris under roy’s rule as furher) 

once his three years of research and study are up al (now 21, keeping track of ages for my benefit, bc this timeline largely exists in my head) heads back to amestris to write his paper and swap notes with ed, and eventually publish a book together. ed somehow earned a fucking PHD in three years while al was away. al is once again, is furious and super proud. (he privately amends to earn his in 2) he convinces mei (now 19) to tag along to help continue her own research on the link between alkahestry and alchemy. ling lets them go and starts a research initiative that funds their travels all over the world. 

mei and al visit scar alot on their travels, and while theyre in ishval they help out the community (doing wonderfully but still needs a hand every once in a while) wherever they can. mei’s always so excited to see scar. lots of hugs and catching up. scar always fixes al a hairy eye when he arrives with mei (note they are very much JUST friends at this point. scar does not care....probably having flashbacks from how quickly ed and winry got together fvjdghjkf) 

they also have tea with the newly promoted brigadier general and his captain every visit. who...share a tent. al and mei make sure not to comment. this does not stop jerso and zampano from commenting. (roy and riza are doing well though, and very much concede their authority to scar and miles on every deciding fact. reparations suits them) 

mei’s 22nd birthday is spent in ressembole where ed and winry and their babies have relocated. pinako (still holdin on strong) watches her great grand babies. ed and winry have alcohol for the first time in 5 years. chaos ensues. al and mei watch he stars and al starts to realize maybe. he might. have a crush. oh well. not going to address that. too much work to do. 

on al’s 27th birthday he has a mild crisis about how old he’s getting. ed, 28 a whole professor, with a third goddamn kid on the way, laughs at his pain. mei (24 now. jesus. im writing this why am i getting whiplash) receives a letter from miles telling her scar, much to humble to admit it, has been made lead representative speaker for ishval. he hints that al should be on the lookout for a letter coming his way. and sure enough, a letter asking if al would like to be the amestrian ambassador to xing arrives at their doorstep. 

and then its back to xing again to get ling to sign off on the order (of course he does) and to get his approval on al and mei’s courtship (re: not engagement. theyre very slow lmao). (that one requires a longer conversation wherein lan fan threatens al with a knife)

packing:

okay traveling by yourself if you’ve never done it before won’t necessarily impact your packing - just be sure that if you have a small carry-on bag that you don’t have any liquids over 2.5oz and remember that like. if you forget something, a lot of hotels (if that’s where you’re staying) will have stuff you can use for free, just ask them. worst case they usually have some stuff you can buy but most places are like really nice. if you’re staying with friends/family, just ask if you forgot something!

most people usually do like a carry-on bag and a checked bag, but just do whatever you normally do, and then make sure your carry-on has your id/passport, your phone, a charger for said phone, your wallet, any meds you have or anything you can’t go for the entire flight without, and then something to do on the plane (book, game, laptop, tablet, etc)

my necessities: phone, wallet, passport if i’m going international, keys cause i usually have to get back in my house after lmao, laptop, chargers for laptop and phone, a portable charger, headphones

here’s the hard tip: acknowledge that you probably will forget something. i literally travel almost every month of the year and i forget one thing every time. but it’s gonna be okay. as long as you have your id/passport/wallet and phone, things will be okay

before you travel:

okay so i have the apps for like all the major airlines and i usually try to check myself in right when i’m allowed to (24hr before). if you’re on southwest, set yourself a reminder so you can check in exactly 24hr before the flight and make sure you get a decent boarding number cause they do it on first come first serve

otherwise, just check in and save a screenshot of your boarding pass to your phone. i usually just do everything with the boarding pass in the app or saved to my photos but you can get a paper copy at the airport as well, and don’t stress if you lose it or w.e once you’re past security cause the gate attendants can print a new one (or you can just use the mobile)

oh the other thing here is you can sometimes choose a different seat whilst checking in? so if you see the one that’s assigned to you and you Don’t Like It, see if any others are available that you might prefer. i always go for the closest aisle seat to the front when traveling alone

and ofc you’ll want to make sure you have some kind of plan for once you arrive at your destination for how you’ll be getting wherever you’re going - taxi, uber, ride from friend/fam, public transport, whatever, just kind of have an idea what you need to do so you’re not stressing once you land

this one is one that doesn’t apply to me, but definitely something to check and look into if needed: if you have any special requirements or needs whilst in the airport or flying, ie wheelchairs or special accommodations or w.e, make sure you know what you have to do when you arrive

leaving for the airport:

okay first and foremost, depending on your airport, you’ll want to be sure you arrive at least 1.5hr early (this is like my personal rule of thumb bc i usually fly in and out of moderately large airports and i have Massive Paranoia about traveling for some reason?? even though i take like 12+ trips a year? but most places require no less than 40ish minutes ahead of time, that’s like super tight though i do Not recommend) - keep in mind like. traffic and stuff, if you’re going to the airport during rush hour or w.e make time for that

if you’re not familiar with your airport and like getting in (bc there’s usually a massive amount of like exits and ‘turn here for this’ sort of things) talk to someone who is familiar with it or like. google maps it ahead of time and street view walk yourself through it, whatever you need to do to feel comfy so if you’re the one driving, you know where to go to park/etc. if you’re ubering or having someone drop you off, just be sure you know which airline you’re on as they’ll drop you off in the right place

checking in:

okay if you’re already checked in and you don’t have a checked bag, you can head straight to security, but if you do need to check your bag, use the kiosks they’re always faster and you don’t have to wait in line. it’s pretty self-explanatory, usually, just enter the identifying info and it’ll probably note that you’re already checked in and just say you have a bag to check. you can also print a physical boarding pass here if you want. the kiosk will print out your luggage tag and just follow the instructions to attach it to the bag. there’ll be like a drop off point (they’re usually p well-labeled) up by the actual people at desks so just head up there and have your id/passport and boarding pass ready cause they’ll want to check them

security:

okay 9 times out of 10 you probably will Not have tsa precheck but if you do, it’ll be somewhere on your boarding pass and you should look for/ask someone about the nearest tsa precheck line. it’s just convenient, cause you don’t have to remove laptops or take your shoes off and it’s usually the shortest line

if you don’t have tsa precheck, just find the nearest (and shortest) security line and have your id and boarding pass ready. if you’re using a mobile boarding pass, lock your screen rotation if you’ll be using the picture you took instead of the app (this is the most annoying thing lmao i’ve done it too many times and usually just try to use the app when i can cause it’ll lock the rotation and go full brightness automatically). then you’ll have to put the phone on the lil scanner and it’ll beep when it’s scanned and done

now, again, if you have any special needs whilst going through security, you’re probably familiar with what you’d have to do if it differs from the standard procedure, but otherwise just go through as you normally would

between security and boarding:

do whatever u want basically. get food, if you need it or if you think you’ll need it whilst on the flight. drinks are usually hella expensive so i try to bring my refillable water bottle (empty!) and then refill once i’m past security

basically how you spend this time is totally up to you. i usually grab food as needed then go chill by my gate, if it’s an airport i’m familiar with and i know how long it’ll take to get wherever i need to go, but you may be more comfy just finding your gate first and then sticking nearby to get anything you need. also i’m a big fan of the charging areas which a lot of airports have now, so if u wanna charge up i recommend

boarding:

every airline is different but there’ll usually be some kind of boarding group or order listed on your boarding pass, so just keep that in mind (ie american has like,,,,6 boarding groups? united has 9, southwest has their whole a/b/c groups, etc etc etc i think one even has like a 2a 2b or something idk that might’ve been in the uk but just look on your boarding pass) if you’re confused or w.e don’t be afraid to ask one of the gate attendants that stand at the front

basically nothing here is all that different if you’re alone, just pay attention when they start boarding and listen for your group, same rule of thumb goes with turning your phone on screen-rotation lock when you go to scan your boarding pass (if it’s the mobile pic you saved)

the goal here with boarding is to go as quickly as you can, but don’t stress if it takes you a second to get in your row! it’s okay, people aren’t as in a rush as they seem. definitely try to fit ur stuff under your seat cause otherwise it’s a pain to get up and get it from the overhead bins

the flight:

honestly just sit back relax and do whatever u normally do! usually there’s no reason this would be any different when traveling alone. aside from sitting near strangers which is annoying sometimes but in my experience if u pop some headphones in everyone leaves u alone

after the flight:

i mean generally just head out into the airport u landed in and look for baggage claim signs - regardless of whether u checked a bag or not, most ground transport out of the airport is near the baggage claim. so just follow signs (and generally the people leaving the plane) and make your way there. if you get lost, again, don’t feel bad abt asking someone to point you in the right direction

if u have a bag, most places have a display board that says which baggage claim you’re at (if they didn’t announce it on the plane when you landed) and you can wait there

once ur done, depending on your mode of transport out, you can follow signs! many of the bigger airports now have designated sections for rideshares like uber and lyft as well

Laff wasnt new to going to the club or  having a night out so when thomas and james invited him to go along with their friend alex to this new underground club he was happy to tag along…

 alex’s law school friends were celebrating finals before christmas break. They arrive at the club the music was loud and captivating the air smelling like perfume and heat “im glad you came ” alex smiled loosely holding laffs arm “I didnt wanna be the you know third wheel …” he gestures off to james and thomas who are deep in a quiet conversation most likely whispering sickly sweet nothings into eachothers ears . Jame’s arm wrapped around thomas’s  as if to say"stay away hes mine" . Thomas was one of Alex’s classmates and closests friends so ofcourse if alex went he had to go too .  Thomas was tall, thin and handsome..he had often admired his brother, they were twins but a rare sort a set of fraternal twins. Laff just laughed “you’re not jealous are you mon ami~?” alex blushed “NO! of course not” he crossed his arms to his chest it was no secret that Alex did indeed used to have a crush on thomas to which he would say was “ages ago” “A-anyway hes with james  remember” laff smiled “you know im not into this stuff Gil” laff let out a small laugh “you mean loud noise and the sea of drunk people” alex couldnt help but laugh as they walked to the bar. By this time  James and Thomas were no where to be found lost in the faces. They sat and ordered a round. Several drinks later laff notices a pair of peircing eyes in the crowd. His eyes were deep and intelligent. The guy wore a fitted grey suit and a lavander tie .Laff grips alex’s arm quickly “Who is that?” he motions torwad the tall dark stranger who also spotted him from across the room. Alex turned and couldnt believe who he saw. “oh thats..Aaron Burr” he rolled his eyes “some prick in my lecture hall” By now Aaron had noticed laff and was walking over “Oh shit… hes coming over here” Alex sighed facing his drink “Alexander!” Aaron exclaims walking up to join them “hey Burr..” Alex casually sipped his drink “Is this what youre doing instead of working on your studies” he laughed “Oh fuck off Aaron..” Alex groaned Aaron took a seat and ordered a drink “i have to admit though what you proposed in lecture today was brilliant that is after the professor had to shout to wake you” Laff couldnt help but laugh. Aaron turned to him “oh im sorry I didnt introduce myself Im Aaron Burr” he held his hand out “and you are?” “Im Gilbert” He blushed as the man kissed the top of his hand “I couldnt help but notice you watching me” he smirked. Laffs heart started to pound and Aaron continued to flirt with Laff buying him another drink. Alex sank lower into his stool just stirring his drink as the two conversed infrench. He sighed ..Where the hell were James and thomas.. The two had found an empty storage space to escape the crowd and loud music. “Are you sure you wouldnt rather be out there with your friends” James asked holding thomas’s hand. Thomas holds his hand to his face “No id rather be here with you..”. He leans in and kisses James softly. James Pulls Thomas closer and kisses deeper his face flushed.. Back at the bar Alex was on his 4th shot He had invited Laff along so he wouldnt feel so alone but of course.. Aaron had to be here.. Some part of him was hoping he had a sliver of a chance with laff tonight..he felt sick for thinking that way and he hated himself for it but he had always been close with the twins  and..well with thomas taken maybe laff couldve been a close second..but what the fuck he couldnt think that way..though he had thought of laff in a romantic way before it was only after thomas met james.. He returned to the conversation. “So I know you speak french” he raised a brow “ what else should I know about you” he smirked not wanting to break eyecontact “Wouldnt you like to know” laff retorted payfully . Alex rolled his eyes so hard they felt like they were about to roll out of his skull.. all this flirting was making him ill..or was that the alchohol..he felt his stomach heave..yep definently the alchohol he rushed to the restroom. “ah..poor alex i should go check on him..” laff stood when burr took his hand “im sure hes fine” his smile was charming and intoxicating. Alex emerges from the restroom to find james and thomas coming in from a back hall way. “WHERE HAVE YOU TWO BEEN?” his voices startled the two of them theyre faces flush clothes a bit disheveled.. “what the fuck guys really…?” they both looked away from him. “youre off getting freaky while Aaron butt it being all romeo on Gil” he points over to the now empty stools “shit..where did they?” “Alex would you please be a little louder i dont think everyone in the club heard you” thomas groaned covering his face with his hand. “and what about laff hes grown he can make his own choices Alex..” “Do you know the guy?” James cut in “what was his name?” “Aaron burr and yeah i know him…Hes a major prick who’s always trying to discredit me infront of the class..” He sighed “ Last i saw he was making moves on gil” … The two had slipped into the bathroom.A small dark room witha single door that thankfully locked the air was hot as the two nearly filled the whole space . Burr  pressed his lips hard againsts laffs lifting him up and setting him on the counter his hand on laffs thigh. laff pulled burr in closer kissing his neck his legs wrapped around burrs waist as burr unbuttoned a few of the top buttons the mans shirt kissing gently down his neck then biting softly. Laff let out a soft moan and burr continued to kiss down his neck undoing more of the buttons . Eventually he reached one low enough to reveal a beige binder. Burr looked confused he stopped for a moment . Laff looked down at his face the confusion this was it the look he always got.. “uhm Aaron?” he said quietly waiting for the words to come. Hed heard it all “You tricked me !” “youre not a guy ??”. But it never came burr looked up at him with the softest smile and kissed him .His heart felt like it was going to explode .Burr looked back down at the binder “may I?” he looked up. Laff nodded as burr undid the rest of the buttons and helped laff remove the binder…. Alex paced back and forth dizzy from the alchohol and heat… “where the fuck is he..?” “Alex you need to calm down laff can do what he wants” thomas was dismissive “you dont understand thomas this it Aaron were talking about…” Aaron was known for being a bit of a player. “hes bad news thomas and you know it!” “you only dont like him because he proves you wrong all the time you really need to get over this Alex…”. Alex’s head was spinning thomas was right…but fuck all if he was gonna admit it.
