"I said that to you?" Lilia asked, though the question was as much to itself as it was to Zelda. "I told you that I wasn't the same person."

Another gap. Lilia tried to understand how long the gap had been. Had she simply been passing through, taken mid-conversation, and gone again before it could be continued? Or had there been more?

Lilia hesitated, wondering how to explain, or whether it should be explained at all. So often people didn't press it, they simply moved on, dismissing her throwaway phrases as unimportant, that she was...spacey. Kooky.

"What you heard--" Lilia paused, struggling to put it into words what was so hard for so many to understand. "It was from another conversation," she finally said.

Zelda could only stare for a moment. Was this witch having a laugh? Or was there something seriously wrong with her? "Do you truly not recall what you were saying all of three seconds ago? You said you're not the same person you were eighteen minutes ago. What did you mean by that?" Was she having some sort of episode?
