I love havin stuff to be excited about heheh at times I think that I get more joy out of being excited for something than when the thing actually comes out I recently heard a quote that like, we don't desire things as much as we desire to feel desire itself, and I absolutely resonate with that
anyways 2024 is gonna be a really good year I think :3 lots of fun things to look forward to!!!

Hi, Mickey. How are you?
Since it's almost Christmas, how do you usually spend Christmas? And... Christmas is a family holiday, so... Can you tell us about Aunt Melinda?
Hiya mafik-sun,
'Round this time of year, I'm always doin' great. I can't believe it's almost Christmas!!! 🎅🦌
Gosh, what don't I do for Christmas? I feel like I have so many holiday traditions that Christmas ends up feelin' more like a marathon than a holiday, ha ha. Though don't think that I mean that in a bad way. I just love Christmas 💝 and everythin' that comes with it. It's actually my favorite holiday ever, and I don't mean for the gifts 😉. There's just something 'bout this time of year that feels so magical and musical, the world just feels like a better place...
But back to your question. I would argue that our Christmas technically starts on Christmas Eve. Goofy and his son always invite Minnie, Pluto, and me to go carolin' in the evenin'. In fact, they're gonna be here in a couple of hours. I love carolin' so much. It's always a ton of fun and gets me right into the Christmas spirit. Sometimes if we're lucky people will even give us some holiday treats or even come out and join us. I think last year we had 'bout 15 people in our group. I would love to see that number grow this year. After that, we'd stop by my house and pick at least one present under the tree 🎄 to open, with Max and Goofy bringin' gifts from their tree.
After that, we'd leave out some freshly baked cookies for Santa and watch Christmas special after Christmas special in the livin' room until we fall asleep. The next day we would then wake up to even more gifts from Santa and spend all mornin' opening them. I admit I always enjoyed watchin' the other's faces light up when they see what I got 'em. After that Minnie and I start preparin' the Christmas lunch while Max and Goofy start workin' on some crafts. They have this neat tradition where every year they sew a new patch onto their stocking, though usually, Goofy ends up sewing his sweater instead, ha ha. 😆
Oh! And this is usually the time Aunt Melinda arrives. Gosh, what can I say 'bout Aunt Melinda? She's really kind, supportive, and probably one of the smartest people I know. It truly does feel like she knows everythin' sometimes as she always knew exactly what to say. It's probably how she kept me out of trouble when I visited her as a kid, which is real impressive if you knew how I used to be 😅. But I really think she's responsible for fosterin' my creativity and love for problem solvin'.
When I was young, every time I saw her she would always give me a small puzzle to solve by the end of the day. I remember lookin' so forward to these (I still do actually) and would spend hours tryin' to figure it out. Every time I did, she would hand me the tastiest piece of candy I ever had. I could never figure out what brand it was or where to get more, which I guess meant if I wanted more I had to solve more puzzles. She also got me into my favorite book series "The Chirikawa Chronicles" as it was one of the many books she would read to me every night. Ya know it's funny, she can be a bit overprotective and from the outside can even come across as just a homely country lady, but I always felt like there was more to her that I just couldn't see. Almost like she was hidin' it.
But back to Christmas, 'bout lunchtime is usually when everyone, includin' our friends from Duckburg, arrives. We'd open a couple more gifts and then have a massive potluck lunch together. After that, we'd have all sorts of competitions and activities. There was Christmas karaoke, ugly sweater fashion shows, ornament making, and probably the most anticipated event of 'em all, the Annual Gingerbread House Contest, also known as the AGHC. Every year was always competitive and I bet this year will be no exception. I'm the judge this year since my gingerbread hotel won last time and I'm excited to see what everyone makes. Daisy claims to have a gingerbread "condo" that will blow everyone else's out of the water, but I guess we'll have to see. 😉
But after we've had our fun, we actually finish the day doin' somethin' a bit different to help us remember what this time's really 'bout. Every year on Christmas day, everyone heads over to the Mouseton Soup Kitchen and spends the rest of our evenin' passin' out food to those who need it. This is always my favorite part as I get to help people out and listen to all their wonderful stories. I really feel like I'm fully getting to understand all of Mouseton and the people who live here through this moment. There are so many wonderful people here and it's so nice to give back durin' such a wonderful time of the year. I actually managed to make a deal with a local department store to donate some extra stock to the families in need as gifts, I can't wait to see how that turns out.
But that is usually how I spend my Christmas. Thanks so much for the question. I gotta start layerin' up for tonight, but I would love to hear how you spend this time with your friends, family, or whoever.
I hope you and everyone have a Great Holiday Season and a Happy New Year! 🎊
See ya real soon,
- M.M.

@destdevel asked: [When It Gets Hard Starters]
"look. i can tell ya' ain't feelin' great. want to talk 'bout it?"
Tumblr media
"Not exactly."
What was there to talk about? How the fresh hell does one explain coming back from death? Granted, with how the man beside him looked, he could probably relate better than Ace thinks. Still, he barely has processed it himself. And despite it being over two years ago, he still struggles to even think aobut the day without a pinch taking over his features.
It didn't help that his sleep had been horribly erratic the last few days. Each one ranging from incomprehensible nonsense to the recreation of that day, leaving him more exhausted after every one. His chin drops into his hand with a heavy sigh.
"More 'cuz it's just...hard to explain more than anything. Plus," Idly, Ace pluchs the hibiscus from his own hair, twirling it in his fingers, staring down at it. "I'm sure your stories are way more entertaining." Shooting the silver haired man a lopsided grin, gaze finally resting on the other. "Like why ya talk like that. Someone take your swearin' privileges?"

How's everyone's reading going? I always struggle to pick up more than kindle unlimited sports romances when school and work start, but I'm really pushing myself past that stress in small ways.
Here are the books I'm currently reading, just finished, and am hoping to get to soon that I really wanted to talk about:
The Sun and the Star (read): This book is pure serotonin. It's one of the longer Percy Jackson books, but I never felt the length for a single second. There were definite moments where I could tell someone other than Rick Riordan had taken over writing, but that doesn't change how fun and romantic the book was. What an absolute treasure.
Scoring Position (read): kindle unlimited mlm hockey romance. I just finished this today actually, and it ended up getting a lower rating than what it had been for most of the book, but I'm still glad I read it. It did offer a good palette cleanser, and though I didn't end up loving it the way I'd hoped I would, I would still recommend it for a nice time.
Under the Whispering Door (currently reading): I tried reading this a few months ago and DNFed after chapter five or something. I felt like the humor was hit-and-miss, I thought Wallace was a little too annoying, but I knew that I didn't want to DNF it for good. Why? I really liked Hugo, Mei, and Nelson, and the teashop. I thought there was some good potential there. I have to drive a lot to school and work, and I figured that since I couldn't enjoy reading this physically, then maybe I would have a better time on audiobook, annnnd... yeah. The narrator is phenomenal, I would highly recommend this audiobook if you couldn't get into the paperback. He has a way of reading in SUCH a funny way that I was suddenly laughing at lines I didn't think were funny the first time. I've got less than 3 hours of the audiobook left, and I'm having a great time. It's not anything groundbreaking, and I think the first half was very slow and repetitive, but it really has got me thinking about death and life a little bit more, and I really enjoy these characters. I now love Wallace, he's hilarious and becomes so easy to love, and I can't wait to see how this story ends.
House of Sky and Breath (currently reading): Anyone else really have trouble reading physical books when they're super stressed or overwhelmed? That's kind of where I am. I'm annotating and tabbing my paperback copy, I'm 10 chapters in, but I feel like I just don't have the strength right now to physically hold a book, you know? The first book in particular already took me so long to read because of its length (you're not Order of the Phoenix, STOP trying to be Order of the Phoenix, not every story can carry that kind of page count!), and now I just feel like I'd be going through it faster if I can read it digitally. I won't get my ebook copy from the library for over 2 weeks, so I might just try to read as much as I can now, and then finish with the ebook. I know the big spoiler at the end, but beyond that, I have no idea what happens in this book, and I can't wait to find out.
Books I want to pick up next:
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part of last year's reread so that I can start this year's reread. I'm afraid, but it must be done.
Percy Jackson and the Chalice of the Gods: I think I was subconsciously waiting until after the show ended to dive back into this world, and I'm just ready to spend all day with my favorite demigod (and satyr) trio.
House of Flame and Shadow: Is this a shock to anyone? I should've read HoSaB sooner so I would be ready for this book now, but I overestimated by reading speed, so here we are. I hope to get to it before any spoilers start circulating.
Emily Wilde's Encyclopaedia of Faeries: I have more books on my physical TBR, but this is one of the lightest and I think I need that.
The Paladin's Shadow: 'Nough said. Anything by Tavia Lark is gold.
I love talking about books so much, so please do let me know what you're reading now, how you're feeling about it, what you'd like to pick up soon. It's always fun to me to discuss books, and I'd really like to talk more about them on my tumblr from now on. I still have it tagged rin reads if you want to filter that out though.

Miya!Reader x Miyas
Synopsis: Nothing simpler than grocery shopping. Right?
wc: 1.2k
a part of The third Miya series
a/n: Miyas are pure chaos and I’m here for it. If you wanna be tagged in the coming scribbles lemme know and as always, feedback is greatly appreciated!
Tumblr media
One thing was sure; every single time you were sent to get groceries Osamu got lost somewhere between entering the store and the first shelf. Years of being used to it and you still worry, knowing better than anyone he always follows his nose rather than his eyes; though ever since the mango incident you'd rather no one knew you are related.
And after all, he is like a cat, aloof and distant until food came into picture and he winds his way between your legs till he either gets what he wants or you end up flat on your face. And he still gets what he wants.
Atsumu on the other hand, is a parrot. A colourful, obnoxiously loud parrot who always wants whatever is in your hands, not caring what you knock over trying to keep your small treasures from his grabby little claws. Or, hands.
The current treasure in question being the shopping list. It's been a long time since you stood a chance against Atsumu when it came to pure pulling strength and the unfortunate victim to experience it is, well are, the two pieces of paper in yours and his hand. “Great,“ you say, “if we forget to buy anythin' I'm blamin' ya.“
“This wouldn't have happened if ya just gave me the damn paper in the first place,“ huffs Atsumu.
You stuff the torn piece of paper in your pocket. “Where's Samu?“
“What am I? His babysitter?“
“No, that honour would be mine,“ you dead pan to his snarky question. Throwing a quick glance up and down the aisle you fail to notice your other brother between the customers. Well, whatever. He'll show up sooner or later. So you return your attention to tooth paste. Dad likes the blue one. Only there are at least four different blue ones.
“Just take the cheapest.“
“That one's digustin’.“
“If we buy the cheaper stuff we'll have more money left over to buy snacks!“
“Ooo,“ your eyes widen as you do the quick math, “Tsumu yer so smart!“ You grab two of the cheapest tubes. “Maybe we can even get Samu-nii to make us some onigiri...“ The mere thought of them makes your mouth water.
“Samu-nii?“ he frowns. “Ya never call me that.“
“Ya lost that privilege when ya framed me for eatin' his puddin'. We should get some hair dye too. Yer roots are starting to show.“ No way are you going to let your brother walk around with roots showing. Oh no. Not under your watch.“Maybe some purple shampoo but I don't see it anywhere...“
“What for?“
“So we can get ya a real nice platinum colour.“
“Nah, I like the one I have.“
You straighten up and give him a look of disbelief. “It's yellow.“
“Gold! It's gold! 'Cause I'm a champion!“
Right. “Whatever you need to tell yerself little brother.“
While he hisses back insults, because he's the oldest and how dare you disrespect him in the 7-Eleven of all places, you try to remember what the next thing on the shopping list was. Shampoo, right, check, dad's favourite shaving cream is already in the cart, as is deodorant you've gotten in a fight over with Atsumu just a minute ago (“I want this one!“
“Tsumu this one stinks like a teenage boy who hasn't showered in a week.“
“I AM A TEENAGE BOY!”). You should take one for Osamu too. Their morning squabbles weren't how you liked starting your day, not that a single deodorant would stop that but one can dream, right? Speaking of which, slowly it would be time to start looking for your always hungry triplet. Still ignoring Atsumu you head towards the food section.
Here's the thing about parrots. Just like cats they want attention when you have something more important to do. A cat will nudge you, lay over your books or keyboard or whatever you might be doing at the moment, maybe dug its claws in your leg or just straight up refuse to leave no matter how many times you push it away. A parrot on the other hand, will perch itself on your shoulder and scream till you give it what it wants.
That's what Atsumu is doing at the moment. Well, not the screaming part, though his blabbering is just as annoying. He's leaning on your shoulder, flicking your ear while you compare the prices of bonito flakes. “Stop that.“
“I'm gonna get chips.“
“Wait for-“
He's already walking away, pushing the cart and whistling, so you roll your eyes and return your attention back to the packages. Which one did mom say tasted weird again?
Here's another thing about parrots. As innocent as they may look to some, they do love creating this thing called chaos. And here's the thing about chaos. Unlike some other things it's worse in small dosages, because in small dosages it's funny.  For example, a parrot filling your shoe with sunflower seeds.
Or a golden haired boy filling the shopping cart with bags of chips. There's barely enough space for those three packages in your arms.
“Mom's gonna go ballistic if we buy so much chips,“ you say looking at Atsumu trying to stuff one more bag in the cart.
“We'll just pay separately.“
Oh right. You could do that. And this time not fail to forget taking the receipt out of the bag before dad finds it. While Atsumu tries to decide which package of crab chips to take next (as if he could cram one more in the cart) you sneak in some small packets of super sour candy. For later. You never knew when Samu will itch and go through your secret stash.
As if he smelled you're collecting ingredients for a trap his gray hair appears on the other side of the aisle. “What's with all that?“ he asks when he sees half the cart is filled with snacks.
“Supplies.“
Osamu puts his hands in pockets. “Put them back.“
You blink. Twice. Then glance over at Atsumu who looks just as shocked as you. He narrows his eyes and pinches Osamu's cheek. “Ya feelin' alright Samu? Got fever?“ Osamu swats his hand away. “Who are ya and what have ya done with our brother?“
And his hands are empty too... The only time Osamu didn't come back carrying a bunch of food was when you were shopping at a shoe store.
“If we don't buy snacks we can get sushi,“ he says with an expression that clearly asks how you two idiots couldn't work that out on your own.
“Oooo,“ both your and Atsumu's eyes widen in awe. You could get sushi. You both look at all the tasty, tasty snacks in the cart. Sushi... Or maybe ramen. A new restaurant did open up the street just last month. But then you'll have no goodies for later... But it's sushi.
“Alright, I'll get these back!“ Atsumu grabs the bags and stacks them back on the shelf.
“Hey! I haven't agreed yet!“ you protest.
Osamu pats your shoulder. “Two to one.“
You roll your eyes. It wasn't the rule of 'two over one' overruling whatever your answer was going to be, it was more you hate being the losing one. Even when you get a reward. Even when the reward is tasty food.
At least mom's paying.

Idk if you're still taking prompts but I'm tipsy and all my heart desires is Jack Rackham just fuckin. Feelin himself. Like he's got a great outfit on, gender expression is optional, he's just feelin beautiful and havin a good time. Bonus for any extra Anne being snarky/supportive, and bonus for VaneRackham because I'm weak for them, but truly anything goes
Listen, I am always taking prompts! Plus, I LOVE THIS. What a wonderful prompt! (I am also combining this with @snooksscribbles request for a fashion-forward Jack moment” because do we not all love our favourite disaster pirate being at the cutting edge of the latest trends? We do.)
Also, this ficlet comes with its own meme.
Jack is a trans man in this. I am cis; any mistakes or misrepresentations are my fault alone.
Honestly, can we please all take a collective Moment to imagine - they’ve just come into port to refit and celebrate after their latest haul. Evening is falling fast as the sun sinks heavy beneath the choppy waves in the harbour, casting long blue shadows down the dusty streets of Nassau town.
It could be peaceful, if it weren’t for the raucous din coming from the brothel: drunken men, merchants and pirates alike hollering for ale and rum and whores; the jeering, bawdy laughter of onlookers at the gambling tables mixing with the tight high giggles of women pretending to be amused. Later, Jack knows, there will be fighting added to the mix; there always is, when the Ranger crew is ashore, no matter how recent the conquest at sea. Hallett will spit in Old Man Cooper’s drink, or Wilkins will crack one too many jokes about Price’s mum being a goat, and everything will devolve into fists and swords and slaughter until Jack goes down to do his duty as quartermaster, appeasing all the fragile egos and cleaning the mess up again.
But until then, he’s here. The rooms in the brothel aren’t soundproof by any means (and privately Jack thinks Max must like it that way, allowing her to keep a bead on the mood downstairs at any given time) but with the door closed and the room illuminated by the slanting rays of the sinking sun and the candles on the table, he can almost pretend. The flickering candlelight plays over the treasure trove spread across the bed. It is, if not the haul of a lifetime, at least the best haul this month to be sure. (Other men may not think so, but other men don’t have Jack’s flair for fashion.) He runs his hands reverently over the array of fabric: here, the slippery smoothness of a silk-lined waistcoat, there, the fine, airy weave of a muslin shift.
A snort draws his attention up from the pile of clothes to where Anne is holding a satin skirt like it’s a dead animal. “There’s dresses in this,” she says, in the tone of one handling something particularly gruesome or slimy.
“There are,” Jack murmurs in agreement while sizing up a burgundy wool coat. The silver thread used for the embroidery is unraveling in several places, but overall it seems serviceable enough. When he lowers it, Anne is still looking at him.
“You don’t like dresses. Don’t he know that?” Jack nods. “Why’d he give you this, then?”
"I believe he just crammed what he could into the crate,” Jack answers honestly. Then, at her skeptical look: “Darling, please let’s neither of us delude ourselves that Charles Vane would take the time to sort through petticoats and sashes during a raid.”
Anne drops the skirt. “Fine.” She stomps back over to the chair in the corner and flings herself into it, posture insolent as any man’s. Jack’s heart squeezes with almost painful fondness at the sight.
“I wouldn’t have taken it if it truly bothered me,” he says after a moment of her mulish silence. He knows she knows, but still, better to make it explicit. He wants to enjoy tonight and her and Vane at each other’s throats is not on the agenda.
There’s no reply from the chair, but the tight line of her lips eases slightly, which he counts as a victory. He turns his attention back to the clothes. Where to start?
The sun has set completely by the time Jack decides on an outfit. The candles are dripping wax onto the bare wood of the table, but their light is at least good enough to see himself by in the tarnished mirror. He twists one way, then the other, before turning to Anne. “What do you think?”
It’s quite a sight if he does say so himself. The blue silk chemise catches the light and ripples like waves with his every movement. He sheds his baldric to better admire the patterns of small flowers printed at the hems and collar; no expense was spared in this craftsmanship.
Anne has been silent. “Something the matter, darling?”
“No.” Then, a moment later: “Why’re you bothering? Getting all fancy for him?”
Jack pauses where he’d been fiddling with his favourite orange cravat. “For him? No, no this is for me.”
Anne looks at him suspiciously.
“It feels good. Sometimes one does things for no other reason than that.”
Anne stares at him a moment longer, as if parsing the veracity of his statement. She must reach a conclusion because she sighs and stands up. “It brings out your eyes.”
Jack fiddles with his rings to hide the smile her words bring to his lips. It doesn’t bring out his eyes; it does clash horribly with the yellow brocade justacorps he shrugs on. But he recognizes that comment for what it is: Anne, offering support, which is infinitely more wonderful to him than all the silk chemises in the world.
“Thank you,” he says softly. Then, as she heads towards the door, “I’ll be down in a minute.”
She nods once and is gone, leaving Jack alone in the room. He twists to the mirror again, admiring the swish and fall of the fabric, the rakish silhouette it creates. For a moment, he hears the rustling of silk and remembers the same sound, from long ago. He takes a breath and squares his shoulders, reminds himself of the years and oceans between now and then. He is not thirteen anymore, and now he has Anne, who will kill anyone who tries to put him in a dress. Even Charles. The thought is oddly comforting, and Jack whistles to himself as he takes one last indulgent look in the mirror and heads downstairs.
The sun may have gone down but the volume of the tavern has only gone up. Patrons are spilling rum and falling all over each other, turning the courtyard into a heaving mess of unwashed bodies and unintelligible voices. Jack pauses on the landing to take stock, noting the other crews that have since come in: he can see Sully, first mate of the Fortitude, cheating at cards with Joshua from the Walrus crew (he makes a mental note to be well clear of this place before Flint ever hears about it); a dozen other regulars are crowded round the bar, hoping against hope to barter for drinks on the house - more the fool they, for Max runs a tight ship.
The real focus of his attention is sitting in a grey haze of smoke off in a corner, and Jack makes his way down the stairs and through the throng of drunk, sweaty pirates with as much grace as he can muster. If he puts a bit of extra swagger in his walk, well. He's Jack bloody Rackham. He's earned it.
Charles is drinking from a tankard of rum. When he sees Jack, it hits the table with a thump.
"Evening, Charles."
A long slow exhalation of smoke. "Jack."
Jack doesn't shiver at the way Charles says his name, but it's close. He nudges at the toe of Charles' boot where his feet are propped on a chair. "Do you mind?"
In another time, in another life, if Jack were someone else, Charles might remove his feet only to kick the chair over, might spread his legs and leer, might drag Jack into his lap, why don't you have a seat here, sweetheart? This isn't that life. Charles removes his feet, shoves the chair and the rum towards Jack who takes both with a nod. He takes a quick swig of the rum, wincing slightly at the bitter burn.
Charles is still looking at him. His cigar is dangling from his fingers, slowly burning down. "The clothes fit, then?"
"Half of it was non-salvageable," Charles' fingers twitch, "but the pieces that were... Well." Jack gestures to himself. "If the clothes make the man, then I am well-made indeed."
"Huh," Charles says. And then: "You look good."
Plain. Simple. Easy. A statement of fact. It has no business sending a thrilling warmth through Jack's veins, and yet. He allows himself the slightest bit of preening. Then, emboldened by the burn of the rum and the weight of silk and brocade against his skin, "Thanks to you."
Charles has precious few tells but the way his eyes narrow fractionally at Jack's words is one of them. A heavy silence falls between them. Jack sits up straighter, squares his shoulders; he doesn't miss the way Charles' gaze tracks to the hollow of his throat.
"Fuck," Charles hisses, dropping the forgotten cigar which has burned down to his fingers. He crushes the stub under his boot heel and looks back to Jack.
"You know, nice as it is to get some peace and quiet -" Jack is cut off as a chair sails through the air to crash against the opposite wall, quickly followed by its occupant, "I was rather hoping we could do something other than sit and brood at each other all evening."
“Yeah?” Charles is leaning forward now, and Jack’s not even sure he knows it. His voice is a deep rumble. “What’d you have in mind?”
Jack plants a hand on the table, stands up. He’s warm from the rum, half-drunk on the freedom of his new clothes and the intoxicating weight of Charles’ dark gaze that hasn’t left him for a moment. He leans forward into Charles’ space and smiles, all teeth. “Why don’t I show you?”

Chapter One: The Beginning
"You will soon receive support from an unexpected source.."
The red letters of your fortune stared back at you ominously.
"Hey, that's great timing huh?"
"Too soon, Marcus..Too soon."
A sheepish smile formed on his freckled face, "Sorry..Here, have another."
You shook your head, waving away the cookie. "I'll just stick to mine. I only have a little bit of room left for it."
You took small bites, slowly indulging in the delicious treat, afraid of letting it go to waste with just two or three bites.
"I'm surprised your dad let me spend the night."
"Honestly, me too..I don't think he noticed that you're in the middle of transitioning."
"He probably just thinks I'm gay or something.."
You let out a choked laugh, "Maybe because you are."
"Hey, you can't tell me that Mr. Fisher isn't hot as fuck!"
"He isn't, oh my god!" You tried to finish the rest of your cookie without inhaling crumbs, suppressing the laughter building in your stomach.
"Have you seen his hands?! Y/N, I don't think you understand how much I adore him!"
"He's 20, Marcus!! Not to mention, he sucks at teaching physics."
"Hey, I didn't say my future man had to be smart."
"You're ridiculous."
"Yes, yes I am. Oh! Speaking of guys, any good gossip for the ship of a century?"
You could help but roll your eyes at his teasing, blood rushing to the apples of your cheeks.
"Kolby and I haven't spoken since last week. I don't think he likes me anyway. He's been talking to Heather more recently.."
And, for some reason, you weren't too interested in him either. Yes, he was a nice looking, athletic guy but you just didn't care enough to go further than a 'hi, how're you?' with him.
"Well, his loss. You're a wonderful girl and it's a shame he's wasting your time with his boyish nonsense. Besides, he doesn't even wear watches like Mr. Fisher."
"I swear to god, if you mention him or watches one more time.."
"You're right, sorry," he held up his hands defensively before putting them down, "I just don't wanna see you get hurt, Y/N/N.."
"I know you're worried, Marcus, but I'm fine. It's our junior year, I don't think long-term relationships are supposed to happen for us until we're in like college."
"You never know..Anyway, what do you even see in him?"
You let out a sigh, sinking in the mounds of pillows and blankets that are laid astray on your bed.
"Umm..He's cute, without a doubt. His jokes are sometimes funny, depends on who he's around. He has a nice sense of style, I guess? I don't know..We've only known each other for a little over two months."
Marcus laid beside you, rolling to his side with a dopey grin plastered on his pale face. "And a lot could happen in two more months if you just talk to him. I promise, I won't even bother you in Algebra..Okay? Just trust me on this.."
You groaned but, nevertheless, agreed with a silent nod.
"Love shouldn't be this complicated.."
"Sometimes it is, sweetie..But only time can lead you to where you're supposed to be.."
"Yeah, I know...Since when did you become my therapist?" You let out a scoff.
"Since third grade! Now, c'mon, get off your lazy ass and let's do something cool!"
He pulled at your limp arm once he stood up, dragging you to the floor and down the hallway towards the mini library your stepmom installed about a year ago; who has yet to use it.
"If you were looking for 'cool', you brought us to the wrong place."
Your eyes scanned over the bookshelves, catching titles of famous works.
To Kill a Mockingbird
The Great Gatsby
War and Peace
Charlotte's Web
"You only have that perception because you hate her."
"Of course! Have you seen her?"
"Yeah, but this is still cool! You should take advantage of it while you can."
Marcus released his hold from your ankle, scampering over to the section of the library where a red and white book was gleaming for attention.
"Oh my god! Miranda got the newest edition of IT?"
You stood up abruptly and made your way over. "She got what?!"
"Holy shit, this is amazing! We haven't fangirled over this book since freshmen year."
"Oh yeah, our biggest obsession since One Direction." You laughed, taking the book out of his hands and running your finger over the textured title.
"Not gonna lie, the older cover looked better."
You rolled your eyes and ushered him over to the desk in the middle of the room. "Wait, let's see if they kept in that one part.."
"Which one? Does it have to do with Stanley? You had a major crush on his fictional ass." He teased, pulling up another chair beside yours.
"No no no, the one with Eddie and-Oh, I found it!"
Man, he had hated it when Richie called him Eds…but he had sort of liked it, too. It was something….like a secret name. A secret identity. A way to be people that had nothing to do with their parents’ fears, hopes, constant demands. Richie couldn’t do his beloved Voices for shit, but maybe he did know how important it was to creeps like them to sometimes be different people.
"Oh, I absolutely love this part..It's just, mwah, beautiful. Stephen King certainly knew what he was doing.."
"C'mon, let's go back to my room and reminisce." You took his arm and pulled him back to your bedroom.
~
You internally screamed at Marcus's onslaught recollection of memories.
"Oh, and that one time when you had a major attraction for-"
"Okay okay, that's enough reminiscing!!" You tossed the book at him.
"Aww, what? Feelin' embarrassed, sweetie?" He barely dodged the book, letting it bounce off your bed and onto the ground with a dull thud.
"Shut up.." You grabbed the nearest pillow and slightly smothered yourself with it.
The memories he continued to bring up brought back some nostalgia but looking back at it now made you cringe. You were practically grown up now, not 15 years old.
"Okay, I'm sorry. But wouldn't it be cool if the losers club was real? Like actually around, in real life? Derry was based off of Bangor so it's more than likely you could find your own Stanley Uris."
You cracked a smile at that and threw the pillow at him, situating yourself underneath the covers of your bed. "Yeah, yeah. I wish."
Marcus promptly pulled out his phone and checked the time, turning it over towards you  and flashing the bright light in your face. "Well, it's almost 11:11..Make a wish!"
"Seriously?" You deadpanned.
"C'mon, it wouldn't hurt!"
You sighed, sitting up on your elbows and closing your eyes. "Tell me when. You wish it too, okay?"
"Okay," some time passed, "now."
I wish the losers club was real..The entire gang. Every single one of them.
I wish I could blow Bill Denbrough.
You opened your eyes after you recited your wish a couple of times, sighing. You raised an eyebrow at Marcus, seeing him struggle to contain his laughter though the crimson red covering every inch of his face gave it away.
"What the fuck are you doing?"
"I wished that I could blow Bill."
"Goddamnit, Marc."
~
It took about a half hour before the two of you could fully relax into a deep sleep but once you guys did, Marcus took up most of the bed.
A heavy gush of wind pushed open your window, the cool air from outside blowing into your room. You snuggled a little more under the covers, face being buried into someone's back. They smelled so nice, a light hazelnut scent and freshly washed hair that reminded you of late night drives with your older cousin when you were younger; Just absolute nostalgia exuded from them. You felt your entire body relax against theirs, the warmth overtaking your slightly exposed skin from the nippy air coming through the window.
You hear a quiet groan from the opposite side of you, the noise causing you to stir from whatever you were dreaming about prior; It was a bit fuzzy.
"What the fuck? Dumbass window.." It was just Marcus.
You felt the weight from the bed disappear, his dull footsteps moving around the carpeted room as he shuts the window.
He turns around and gives one look over the room, his eyes partially open. He sees a couple of people in the room, the sight confusing him in his drowsy state.
"What the..?"
A mix of someone screaming bloody murder and a smoke alarm going off floods the room, echoing off the walls and throughout the house. Even Marcus wouldn't be surprised if the neighbors heard him too.
It takes just a few seconds before your sleeping mind can process the screeching, thus causing you to flip over to your other side and turning on the lamp. Your eyes are piercing with annoyance, though you were still a little concerned about your astonished friend across the room.
"Marc, what the hell?! What's wrong? What happened?"
You cast a glance around your room, trying to pick the oddball out.
"What the hell?!" You hear from behind you, the sudden noise alarming you and making you jump off the bed towards the ground.
Your head whipped around so quickly you were sure it was the dizziness that made your imagination run wild from the sight. There laid a guy, around your age, with very curly light brown hair that just looked absolutely divine to twirl your fingers around.
Underneath you comes a strangled groan, almost upon impact. Looking below, you find a girl with fiery red hair in a bob style. You push yourself off of her and scoot away until your back hits Marcus's legs.
"Who the fuck is yelling-Oh, holy shit..!" You hear another slightly deep voice exclaim.
Turning to your right sat five other guys with drastically different appearances, one after another coming to the realization that they had no fucking clue where they were.
The room grew quiet, fear growing in your eyes as you try to find a person to focus on but the thought only made you even more dizzy than before.

tagged by @ub-sessed, listing top comfort films! (or books instead. ;)  )
I’ll give a couple of each! An excellent meme for These Stressful Days!
1. Princess Bride. Just. Yes.
Tumblr media
2. Much Ado About Nothing! (specifically the Tate&Tennant 2011 National Theatre Live version. I actually have a copy of just the audio Stripped from this performance, and at that point it’s just an audiobook of the play, yeah?)
Tumblr media
3. Everybody Wants Some. dir Richard Linklater. I don’t understand why either, but the music is good, the dudes are 80% himbos, and it’s pretty gay, for how much het sex there is in it. IDK. I can always watch this movie. Tyler Hoechlin, what have you got to say for yourself???
Tumblr media
4. A Knight’s Tale. Could perform a one-man version of this show without rehearsing, line for line.
Tumblr media
5. Moonlight dir Barry Jenkins. I don’t know if most of this movie is exactly comforting? But it really takes me out of my head, such a friggin art and acting masterpiece. The music, the audio work, the cinematography... and it ends so good, y’all. Hands down, the achy-ist, tenderest, most romantic ending, which I feel is only fair considering the first two thirds of the film. Go watch it if you haven't!!
Tumblr media
6. Grosse Pointe Blank. My opinion? John Cusack’s finest role, I want to marry Minnie Driver in this, and Joan Cusack’s character speaks to me on, like, a cellular level here. Independent International Assassin Martin Blank goes to his 10-year high school reunion, reunites with Minnie Driver, the love of his life whom he abandoned on prom night when he freaked out and joined the army, and tries not to kill anybody or get killed for the duration of the weekend, if anyone doesn’t know about it. Also, really great music.
Tumblr media
Me too, Martin, me too.
7. Twister. The ANGST y’all. Has a movie ever delivered more angst and thrills??? and it’s not needless! Folk communicate well, except when it’s a deliberate character flaw that they don’t, Helen Hunt gets to be the strong silent type... slap on the thrill of Science!!!!! Her speech after the second-to-last Dorothy is rolled, trying to clean up the sensors in the rain, what he says to her THE BEAUTIFUL CLICHE OF EVERYONE BACK IN THE CARS HEARING THE WHOLE THING THROUGH THE RADIOS it’s great. it’s so great. so Cathartic. and Such a triumph of an ending. (an hey look! Cary Elwes made it on here twice!). Peak disaster film, here.
Tumblr media
And on the literary end:
8. The Young Wizards series, by Diane Duane. specifically the first two books, So You Want to be a Wizard, and Deep Wizardry. No one come for me, I’m as big a Harry Potter fan as most folk will ever meet... but these are “better” than Harry potter, imho. They’re middle-grade YA about some (at the beginning) preteen socially ostracized kids, who find a book, and take an Oath, and make friends with each other. And save the world. This is a very science-y-type magic, and the series does not shy away from how scary it is to have children doing this stuff, how inappropriate that they should have to... but there’s such a thread of hope, such a spirit of Humanism, of altruism... they’re exactly the kinds of books you want to read when the world is a scary place, because every scary thing they face, and there are some doozies, they face it the same way. one step at a time, with integrity and love, together. This is how we help each other, our communities, our countries, our planets. and, hopefully, slow down the heat-death of the universe.
The power conferred by use of the [Magic] has, of course, one insurmountable limitation: the, existence of death itself. As one renowned Senior Wizard has remarked, “Entropy has us outnumbered. ” No matter how much preserving we do, the Universe will eventually die. But it will last longer because of our efforts — and since no one knows for sure whether another Universe will be born from the ashes of this one, the effort seems worthwhile.
Tumblr media
9. FANFICTION and fanvids. and Podfic. Primarily Sterek and Geraskier these days, but i’ve plenty of old favorites.
Tumblr media
in fact:
10. The Art of Running, written by pprfaith/ @wordsformurder and Podficced by reena_jenkins, is a Female!Brian Fast and the Furious fic? And it’s one of my greatest Comfort Medias of all time. IDK exactly why, but I always keep it, and its sequels, on my phone so I can pop it on whenever. Feelin’ anxious and overwhelmed? BOOM. Brianna “Brian” O’connor trying to figure out how she wants to run, in life, and who she wants running with her. It’s great.
